Silly turtle. The taxonomic issues remind me of the Chinese giant salamander problem, where technically each and every river they lived in had its own subspecies, and people accidentally melted together all the subspecies in an attempt to save them from extinction. It technically worked, but at what cost?… we don’t know, because no one had enough time to research if they were actually subspecies or not.
