I’ve caught many small ring necks in my life. I did not know they even had venom. I remember letting a “larger” one attempt to eat me when I was a little kid. He managed to put half my pinky into his body when he decided to spit me out. I’ve been bitten by some more aggressive ones but I don’t think I’ve ever felt poisoned by them.

The word I like to use to avoid anthropomorphizing reptiles is "comfort". I own a lot of reptiles and each has their own comfort level in relation to me. It might not be an act of love or bonding, but I am definitely a source of comfort whether it is safety, warmth, or food. For a garter snake losing what might have been an additional body in survival situations would be a massive loss of comfort and any creature would definitely struggle, maybe not emotionally, but physically from the sudden change of the status quo. Maybe almost like losing a limb? I'm not a biologist, just been around a lot of reptiles :)

Man I love the information, but the size of your channel will always be limited if you show a half naked female goat as the first thing on screen. Try making your mascot more family friendly, and I'm sure your videos will take off in popularity.
