Thank you… the music and video are so lovely… My mom and I spent a day at Sissinghurst and walked the gardens. We traveled from our homes in Northern California. I lost my mom Christmas 2020. We loved Vita’s White Garden…❤
So sad to hear about your Mom; I hope time has healed a little and you still have great memories of your travels together. Sissinghurst is a favourite of ours, and when Spring arrives we'll head back (it's a little closer for us). In my corporate days, I visited North Carolina, Raleigh to be specific, but to be honest, all I saw was an office of a business park, a shopping mall and a restaurant or two. Woul have loved to discover more of the state. (That's why I gave up corporate life to work in travel) Anyway, thanks for stopping by and taking time to leave a comment. All the best for 2024, Gary & Janis
Hello Trebor, It's a beautiful slice of Kent, well worth a visit these days, too. There's the new Greek inspired garden, else little has probably changed. It looks beautiful on an English summer's day. Once again, thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment, All the best, Gary & Janis
We just visited this garden 3 weeks ago. It was great to wander through again, thank you. I enjoyed the minimal talking and lovely musical accompaniment.
Liz, Thanks so much; we're so glad you enjoyed your visit and our little video. Thanks again for stopping by and taking the time to leave a comment. All the best, Gary & Janis
Wonderful gardens. Thank you. I have read books about Vita, Harold and the Bloomsbury group. I would have been happier just with bird song and no background music.🐦🐦🌳🌹🌹
Cathy, Thanks, glad you caught our video. They are certainly beautiful gardens these days, with the NT honouring the work of Vita and Harold. On the audio, I do sometimes wish UA-cam would let you filter the different channels. Some people like the soundtrack, but not the narration, other the opposite, and some just like the background sounds. Until then, I guess I have to live with the fact I cannot please all the people, all the time. Thanks for taking the time to comment, Happy and safe travels, Gary & Janis
You’re channel is beautiful! Every facet of it. Photography, editing, narration and music selection. Just absolutely wonderful quality. And the information you share, just so great! Love how you inject your very real enthusiastic pleasure in the subject. You’re channel will be deservingly successful.
Thanks so much, you’re vey kind - we like to put the effort in, and alway try to improve, but it does mean creating the content can take some time, but hey, hopefully that will improve. Thank again for stopping by, and taking the time to comment. All the best, Gary & Janis
I love Sissinghurst Castle when we were young we used to go there most weekends as we lived at Three Chimneys and we would cut across the fields my brother Gordon and our friends and in the Autumn we would collect cob nuts from the nuttery and eat them on the way home and our jaws would ache for days after It has changed so much since then as they have opened the woodland and lakes plus developed a large garden under the archway and added car parks I don’t know if this is better or the old Castle we knew ❤
Joy, Now, that does sound idyllic; there's a hint of the Darling Buds of May about it. It must have been wonderful. What a playground. I'm sure Sissinghurst Castle is just as beautiful, and I suspect the gardens may be a little better maintained. Perhaps it has more of a curated feel about it today, but still a wonderful place to visit. I'm glad you liked our little video, and it brought back some fond memories. Thanks for taking the time to stop by and leave us a comment. All the best, Gary & Janis
Greetings from far away (🇦🇺🦘), thank you for the splendid presentation of this splendid place. The musical accompaniment and bird song and your restrained commentary are just perfect and have evoked fond memories of a visit in 2005 on an equally sublime sunny day.
Hi, So glad we brought back fond memories, the great thing about National Trust properties is they don't appear to change much; of course, they do, and that's the skill of the gardeners. Thanks for taking the time to stop by and leave a comment. All the best, Gary & Janis
Hi Lynn, Thanks so much. I am so glad you liked our little video of Sissinghurst. We love the place and we'll be back later this year to enjoy the gardens at their summer best. Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by an comment. All the best, Gary & Janis
Thanks for sharing a wonderful video. I am watching from the US (Texas), and watch as much British gardening on UA-cam as is humanly possible. Love anything about the National Trust gardens. Your video is so peaceful. God's creation never gets old. Be blessed over and above.
Dean, Thanks so much; I'm so glad you liked it - there should be a few more National Trust Gardens on the channel for you to enjoy. Plus, as spring arrives, we will visit a few more within our region, and maybe a little further afield, so pop back occasionally. Again, thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to stop by and leave us a comment. All the very best, Gary & Janis
Hi, this was shot in the middle of May, it just took me time to get it out. I bet it still looks lovely though, but the NT team there are superb at conservation. You could see all the beds were mulched, reducing the amount of water that evaporated, and I think generally, they follow best practices. They also have access to their own water supply, the moat & lakes are fed by a local stream, and I wonder if the lawns in the courtyards are sacrificed - I might have to pop back to see.
We have just found your channel. It really is delightful and it brings back many beautiful memories of when i lived in the South of England. Thank you for your work, it is so nicely presented. We really love it!
Adele, Thank you so much; you are so very kind. There's more to come, I promise; just been a little slack over winter (and a bit of spring) I have to ask, where are you living now? Anyway, thanks so much for taking the time to comment, Gary & Janis
Good morning Gary and Janis, Such a quick response, thank you so much! I now live in Scotland and have done so now, for many years. My mum and i were watching a few of your glorious episodes, located mainly in Southern England. You have such a calm gentle voice Gary and it seems to work beautifully with your glorious work and filming. We are now slowly working our way through some of the fabulous places in the England. Its so quaint and you somehow capture its true English charm. Thank you and God Bless to you both. x
Adele, Ahh, it's been a while since we've been to Scotland; the last proper tour was in 1999. We promised ourselves another road trip, and we even got a bit a plan. Still, I want to wait until we have gone electric, so it'll have to wait until next year. We've a few more plans for England and will continue to create our videos as long as we have an audience. Thanks again and take care, Gary & Janis
I just subscribed. Thank you for this wonderful tour of Sissinghurst gardens! I am never going to get there in person, so I can appreciate them this way. I have read a history of Sissinghurst and Victoria Glendenning's biography of Vita Sackville-West, but of course I can't remember the details. I wish you could tour the gardens at Long Barn. Thank you again for this video!
It's such a shame you can't get to see them; we have promised to visit a few more National Trust gardens this spring and summer, so stay tuned. The gardens at Long Barn are only open to private groups of eight, so it isn't possible to visit, which is unfortunate. Thanks for subscribing; stay safe, stay well. Gary & Janis
Hi Katharine, I am so glad you liked it; Sissinghurst is a beautiful place to visit, and we enjoy visiting at different times of the year, too. On the narration side, I think you must have got lucky, I do seem to talk a wee bit on my other videos (note to self to rein it in a bit on future videos - handy as I'm currently working on another National Trust House and garden at the moment!) And the music, well, I try to make it relaxing; it's how we feel as we explore Sissinghurst. Thanks so much for stopping by and taking the time to comment, All the best Gary & Janis
Hi my friend, It's Courage by Gavin Luke; licenced from Epidemic Sound. That runs from 00:40 to around 2:32 when it fades into Solace, also by Gavin Luke. Hope that answers your question Cheers, Gary & Janis

You don't like the sound of my voice, but the back sounds are okay The content of the narration could be better Just prefer to look at the video without any audio I'd be interested. I always thought it might be nice on UA-cam to have the narration on a separate channel so you could mute that, but I guess that's a little niche. Anyway, assume you won't subscribe to the channel because all new content comes with narration. However, I'm not offended because I know my style is not for everyone. All the best, Gary (& Janis)
