Not only a really cool case mod but you finished it so quickly! Personal growth right there haha
It only took the pausing of a different project, lol
quick? cool mod? does it really look better then it did before they took it out of the box?
@@bmomosaikwell...yes...much... but then again taste is subjective :]
@@nemtudom5074 Haha fair point lol maybe that's why, procrastination
Thats content we all need
You really got into that build, man! Looks killer! I'm excited to see some more builds in the future, it's great content.
This "Nerdforge like" kind of content is what I enjoy the most, as it works like food for creativity and it's really fun to watch 🤩
You'd get oixidisation from the atmosphere in the ship, so, scorch marks from breachs that lead to oxygen loss sound legit. Also some propellant or explosives may well carry their own oxidiser that could leave scorch marks.
Laser strikes on painted surfaces if there's any oxidisers in the paint (or, ablative armour).
Absolutely blown away that you got this done in under a month. I thought for sure when you started this mod it wasn't going to get finished. Boy was I wrong.
I wish I had more time to follow along to these builds. So much time goes by before he finally finishes one. Plus he'll start a couple other projects in that time which makes me forget about them.
you've really leveled everything up recently. production quality / editing, the workspace, your builds, and your ability to actually finish systems! excited to see the future of J2C!
Kicks LTT in the balls!
I rarely comment on a video, but this is beautiful! 3D printing really leveled up the game here.
Suggestion for the Protomolecule design if you add it later on - perhaps a material that glows blue under UV would give a cool effect, and it could be backlit by a small DIY led (or just a bit of UV led strip).
3 possible methods - 3D print it in a UV fluorescent filament (as I know you experimented with it recently); mix up some UV reactive powder into a viscous glue like PVA; or mould it from epoxy (many resins glow under UV, just try to find a more 'blue' one!). Maybe add some large grains of carbon black grit too for a more 'speckled' look?
Ooo. Then make the uv LEDs pulsate randomly for even better effect ...
This is why I keep coming back to see Jayz videos, almost always entertaining and something different from the majority of PC focused youtubers. Thanks Jay, Nick and Phil !! Keep up the hard work
This case mod turned out fantastic. Great imagination and execution and we got a bonus by you getting it done so fast!
The fire effect really is the final touch to the build. Beautiful mod as usual!
Super awesome final build! The lit damage hole behind the GPU looks fantastic, and the PDCs definitely help sell the spaceship feel. I feel like there's a way to use EL Wire for part of the protomolecule effect (at least the brighter stringy bits).
Wow that looks incredible! Love the attention to detail especially on the "Damage effect" where it looks like somethings blown outwards!
what detail? its all from 3d modeling and thats just a bunch of boxes stacked
@@bmomosaikreally? Fine if you don't like it, but don't criticize others opinions on it..
All of those details, choices & happy accidents made this into an absolute beaut!! Well done, team!
Another way to create protomolecule would be clear epoxy resin poured over chunky glass fit to a mold of your design incorporating leds for the desired effect. Like a mold made of clear acrylic to be covered with chunky glass to be covered with the clear epoxy to hold it all together. The acrylic pyramid would be of whatever design you wished to get the proto molecule look you wanted.
This build really does look so sick! Also props on the B-roll montage. Great music choice and the shots really show everything off well.
I wanna see more of this kind of content! That was a really nice little "serie" of video, result look fantastic, can't wait to see your next project.
This is soooo nice, the amount of detail and idea is beyond words. Well done it.
That damage effect makes this build. It looks fantastic between the paint work, frayed wires, lighting, and exposed back of the GPU 👏
Amazing job. Really miss this type of custom build content with so much character. One of my fav builds was the Terry Crews build because of all the attention to details that went into it. even tho it could be 2, 3, even 500 dollars of someones time, would love to see more custom themed builds.
Love the build.
Best part of this build is that you can tweak and tinker with all sorts of little details until every inch of it has been modified and painted.
Amazing stuff! I love SFF builds, simply because of hom much power you can fit into a small space. An idea for the GPU fans, maybe paint the inside of the cones metallic silver, so the light from the vents can reflect from that and create the illusion of the "blue fire". For the accents, I think printing it on a paper, then cutting it and simply making a template for the stripes could work. Great team effort (hats off to Nick for putting Jay's ideas into physical objects) and the buid turned out really nice :)
Definitely amazed to see something so custom where the case is the artwork instead of the components being the artwork behind the case glass!!!
This looks amazing! Loved the build process and gave me a few ideas for future builds. Thank you for doing such amazing work and also showing us what not do to (glue panels together) so that we don't make the same mistakes as well. Awesome job!
Love that there's a little bit of each member the team in the build might be why this went faster than the other builds
Nice work Jay. Your passion shows during builds like this. Heck of a fun watch.
Looks Awesome, the top panel looks like the hatch sun shade on a 85 firebird! 😄
I am flabbergasted how fast and crazy good this build went! In Germany I would say "Lutsch mich rund und nenn mich Bärbel!!!!"
you a bot?
@@bmomosaik no 😄my German sentence is from a German Comedian but I think when you use a translator it might go in the wrong direction sorry 🙈
I love the use of carpet tape. I use it all the time at work for various things.
Friggin sick work. You guys killed it! The Expanse is such a good series.
Theoretically, scorching could happen in space. Metal slugs and rounds hitting things creates a lot of heat and these ships need to have some type of atmosphere inside them for human habitation which that heat and metal could react with as it escapes. So, theoretically it could happen. Additionally, kinetic rounds in space, where there is no resistance due to friction, won't lose any velocity until impact. If hitting at a high enough velocity those rounds could very well be vaporizing themselves and parts of the ship, similar to tank rounds which melt on impact. That could potentially create super heated gases as well. Love the mod and can't wait to see what else you come up with!
Looks awesome! Your ITX builds always look great. Can't wait for the next one!
I really prefer these videos over any tech news or boring 13900k/4090 videos. Just Jay having fun and we learn something. I would add the orange stripe. I think it looks good.
Jay, buddy! I am so proud of you. YOU DID IT! Ya finally finished a build. Big pat on the back, friend. Looks amazing. Thanks for sharing it with all of us.
Proud of you bro. I know how difficult projects like this can be, especially with ADHD.
You accomplished something significant today, and you should be proud of yourself.
The way the back of the gpu chipset/SMDs line up with the damage hole turned out really great. Not sure if that was planned or just a happy accident but it's awesome either way.
I love the way it pushes hot air through as well so it's really "burning" there. awesome job Jay!
I love the details that you guys have put into this build. Being and 80's kid, All I can see is s robot from the movie " Batteries Not Included" LOVE IT!!!
Still think the side with the thrusters looks like a minion going "OH!" with a big spot on the other side of its face ;)
I think it looks like Bender from Futurama lol
The Expanse is my all time favorite sci-fi show….I binge it every other week! I need to make my own custom build now…wish me luck!
Having a 3D printer has upped your game big time.
This is looking great, love to see the process on what you all did.
These kinds of projects give me some inspiration for cosplay ideas
also a tip: if you use a self levelling epoxy like XTC3D you can smooth out print layers rather quickly.
You will loose some details because the epoxy will fill it, but when using this on pieces that dont need too much detail it is great.
you can also add colours to the epoxy and give your part a base colour or give it some metallic look so if you do some "damage" to the paint it will show that
Was not expecting the build to be done so fast, it looks really amazing and I really loved this series. Your passion really came through!
While I wouldn't put it on my desk (I like a Minimalist setup without distraction).... This is unreal!! You really did bring the look of the Rocinante to a PC case! From the ship metal to the look of propulsion boosters.... Respect, I loved that show 🥹
I just about never comment on videos, but this mod turned out so well that I had to. The combo of the 3d printing, Jay's air brush skills, and all the thought that went into the design payed off so well. Thanks for taking us along.
Thank you Jay, Nick, Phil, and the entire crew. Personally, I watch your channel mostly for the entertainment, and maybe learn a little along the way. It's been a fun series. Everyone has different tastes in art, but I find it difficult to criticize anyone who has put this much time and effort into a project such as this. Looks fantastic.
happy watching this build jay
Jay!
Have you considered dry brushing a silver over the disturbed sections of the spaceship? The metal shearing and stretching would expose the raw material. I also think the subtle highlights would really accent the dark, droll nature of the build - which I also understand is an aesthetic.
Congratulations on finishing a mod! I haven't done that in over 10 years...
Love to see the build videos again.
You taught me how to water cool my first pc and have loved watching your content ever since.
That's gents!! Great build!!
I have liked all your mod builds you have done and i would have to say this is one of the best, only because I'm a fan of The Expanse. Hats off to all 3 of you for making a EPIC build.
Two things I love about this build: 1) Jay goes full model building nerd and gets all the details perfect (IMO) and 2) he gives props to Nick and Phil for their contributions. This is, by far, my favorite content they put out. I enjoy the other video formats, but seeing their talent regarding the fine details astound me. Great job guys!!!
This project was amazing! Especially the frequency of updates and progress on it!!
Well done, this may be one of my favorite case mods yet. Keep them coming please.
Love to see more of this!
Enjoyed the series! Lots of skillz put into this project - from planning the concept to cutting holes to 3D printing to airbrushing to video editing an entertaining documentary. That montage was beautiful👌 good job team JTC!
Very good build. The 3d printing bits really added to the model. Now for the battleship one, you teased us with a little while back.
This is why I rate you guys highly, you guys engage in serious work and have fun doing it.
Dope 😮
Light diffusing "flame" fan grills would be cool.
Jay, youve got a great team to motivate you and support you with skills to make your vision come to life. I think the team concept really came through in this video.
Watching this build series makes me want to do a build. I have been wanting to do a small tower for gaming and you have given me some ideas. I am looking forward to seeing more builds like this.
HOLY CRAP, JAY!!!! THAT IS FANTASTIC!!!!! I AM TOTALLY JEALOUS! What an amazing job, man! Congratz to you and your team for a great case mod.
As a fan of The Expanse....great build. Absolutely love it.
This surprisingly malleable base concept has quickly led to an exceptionally elegant yet practical result which easily matches anything that has come out of the JTC think-tank. It also highlights the utility of 3D printing for rapid prototyping -- could you please do a video on what you have learned about 3D printers relative to modding?
The rgb strip flame effect is amazing. The most beautiful application of lights that can be. My only case mod is a Re-Volt sticker denoting fast charging usb.
On the ships the gun turrets were on every major axis, as you saw when the rossie was fighting. Love this build genuinely well done Jay ❤❤
As a huge Expanse geek, I freaking LOVE it!!! Beltalowdaaaaa!
Really love this kind of content. Case moding is not in my comfort zone. But I love the artistry you put into it.
Glad to see everything come together. Looks awsome.
As always, knocked it out of the park. What i wouldn't give to have even a fraction of this talent to mod my system.
Kudos on a job well done.
In the beginning of this mod series i was thanking: what's to point of doing that!!! Now, WOW that looks amazing👌. Stinking beautiful 👌👌
Looks really professional, great job.
For the protomolecule you could try epoxy resin mixed with a pearlescent or glitter blue paint, if you combine that with clear or even opaque epoxy and led's you could make an organic looking fluid which glows. They do that for guitar bodies or tables which has a nice effect. Could even 3d print a template to get the desired shape.
Just an amazing build. Awesome job, Jay.
Absolutely amazing build, I’ve been in awe of this thing since you teased the screenshots on your stream. Also super psyched for the next video! Would love to see how you step up/down your fan curves and of course the configurations as you’ve mentioned. Hoping you’re able to use “fan control” since that’s what I’ve been playing with. Thanks for such great content to the team!
wow the case mod is amazing. It's super cool to see a case mode from start to finish i've only ever seen pictures
Finally a build that is actually completed :) And it looks really good. Getting the whole team together is a great idea, might be what it takes to complete a custom case mod. 3D printing really helps as well, it really makes ideas become reality!
There’s a reason why I always come back to watch you guys. Love the creativity, brother!
This type of content really is Jay's point of difference. There's only so many videos one can watch across the different content creators saying "Hey look I built a 13900K / 4090 " Ultimately they're all the same in the end. This content is truly different.
😍 this is awesome. The Roci became my favorite spaceship since I watched the Expanse. I'm currently catching up on the books. The Jaycinante looks amazing too. Never thought PDCs would look really cool on a PC 😂
thats beautiful, I can see you took some ideas from the unfinished Star Wars build, with the hole out the side and the blaster marks up the side.
Just goes to show that every little thing you do makes you better.
So cool hearing the teamwork that went into the design of the mod! Looks really cool, good job
That fire effect is amazing. Love it.
I just got done finally finishing the Expanse series. It is such a good series.
I *love* how much or a team job this build is! Great content Jay, Nic, and Phil!
Cool build! As a fan of the TV series I'm pleased with the result.
Be nice to add an ultrasonic vapor emitting from the damage hole -- just to simulate the coolant leak on the ISS Russian module.
I've been looking to add airflow on my Step-Dad's NZXT h510, and, instead of a grill or laser cut wood panel, might just copy your, "fans mounted on the outside," with Lian Li white Infinity fans (puts them where they'll be seen, and avoids needing reverse flow fans) --- so cool!
Great work, love the red internal LED effect, maybe you could do something for the blue fans to give a blue engine flickering effect?
What a fantastic build and case mod. Looking forward to the cooling tweak video to follow. Well done boys!
I need to rewatch the expanse, such a great series. Amazing build, love it all. I want to do a custom mod PC now. It would be soooo much fun, but alot of work
It came out great, guys! Excellent work all around. Look forward to more wild case mods.
Been watching your channel for years Jay, and this is probably one of my favourite builds, right up there with skunkworks!
This is the channel to watch if you want to learn about hoses, all sorts of hoses, hoses for your PC, for you washing machine, for your pool, for everything.
SO. SICK! Jay, seriously this is unbelievably cool. I’ve watched your other builds - but you really added that extra ‘oomph’ to this one. To the Jaycinante!
This reminds me of the TMNT sewer playset, only in gray and black, rather than snot green. Looks really sharp, and you have some serious talent! Thanks for dragging out the nerd in me.
I would be totally fine if all Jay does on this channel is case mods. They are so freaking cool. Nice work on this one. The 3D printing take it to a whole other level
Nice job, guys. Really turned out well !!😊
That is gorgeous! Very, very well done, I love it!
Man, this is so cool. 3D printing really brought so much for PC modding.
Suggestion for the Protomolecules: It seems the color is pretty close to what you have got going on the engine fans, so maybe you could just connect an ARGB strip to the end of the fan-ARGB series. If you want to fiddle more with the ARGB programming, you can cose it to do the Protomolecule effect at the LEDs after the fans, basically by treating it as a separate group. After all, chaining them just makes it one long ARGB strip software-wise. No need for more headers.
That looks SO COOL! Makes me want to try to do a Firefly case. Based on the Firefly class starship from the show Firefly. Firefly.
Looks like Belter ship fr, super cool to see these build vids again!
