I have a conflict with the term "carnivore diet" Carnivores eat raw meat that either kill by themselves or some other carnivore kills and they steal it. We shouldn't call this carnivore because as far as I know, we COOK the meat - something that genuine carnivore won't touch (we should not give dogs as an example because they will eat cooked meat, but then again, dogs will eat whatever we give them) I would say this sort of diet should be called "meat only diet". Most definitely it is not a carnivore. There are some tribes of people that do eat raw meat, and they are true carnivores
Before I went on a carnivore diet, I followed a "balanced" diet. My diet did not consist of 60% garbage processed foods. 90% of my diet was home cooked meals made by my wife who is an excellent cook. The 10% were my indulgences, ice cream, ginger ale, the occasional bag of chips or popcorn. Yet somehow over the course of my 40's I put on 50 lbs... exercise be damned. If you consume a "balanced diet" where the majority of your energy comes from carbohydrates, your metabolism will eventually have a rebellion, your pancreas becomes tired, your liver has no choice but to turn those extra carbs to fat in order to save you from an even earlier death. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in June 2023. I did not want to die like my father due to complications from T2D, so I decided to try carnivore. In July 2024, at 53 years old, I am thinner than I was in high school, down 60 lbs, my blood work is normal, a plethora of insidious health problems are starting to disappear, and my endocrinologist says I am no longer diabetic. I still enjoy the odd snack, but 90% of my diet is carnivore.
I was a vegetarian turned Keto (added some fish and chicken) for 8 yrs. No junk processed foods. Lots of organic veg No starch. During this time I developed arthritis , IBS, itchy flaky ears, gingivitis and badly receded gums (pre approved for Tissue grafting procedure). 2 years ago I went carnivore Hoping to turn rheumatoid arthritis around Everything I listed above completely healed. AND. I don’t need reading glasses anymore ! 69 yrs old. Feel better than I did at 40❤🎉
How long did it take for your receding gums to heal back after doing carnivore. I had been brushing my gums too hard and rubbed gum down on a front tooth. I have been carnivore for almost 2 years and had receding gums before that healed back to normal. But I didn’t notice when it started healing and when it healed until it was healed. Curious how long this front one will take to heal.
All I can say is: If I hadn't gone keto for 2 years and then carnivore for the past 2 years, I'd be dead. My doc told 4 years ago my health was so bad, I probably wouldn't make it to 74 because my blood pressure sky high and I was 100 pounds overweight. Today I'm 75, my blood pressure is normal, and I weigh the same as I did when I was 23.
This also shows that our medical community needs a good cleaning and drop their big ego also. A simple yes or no to being helped by your provider may need a hard look.
@@niamhmckinney4027 I used too. I was sceptical in the begining. Quite a bit, as i had just had a blood clot in the brain 2 years earlier. And was still on blood thinners, and statins in the begining. Today? No, not even a little bit. The book "The great Cholesterol Myth" (Revised) M.D. Sinatra, Jonny Bowden, Stephen T. Sinatra answered all my worries and fears regarding that...
Yes tell it like it is. I am getting tired of people closing their minds to carnivore diet. People telling me meat will give me colon cancer or heart attack or whatever. When I get such comments, I say "I lost 34 kilograms" (that's about 75 pounds). I believe the weight loss is much more important for keeping me alive, than any risk from eating meat. My skin got better, my sleep got better, I am much happier.
I can never get my head around the fact that, obesity was never a problem until dieticians and nutritionists got involved during the 1960's. Im a happy health (physically and mentally) carnivore. Happy to listen to my own body.
Since when did dieticians start to recommend fast foods , restaurant meals and tv dinners , which coincidentally started to boom from around that period ?
@@julienfroidevaux1143 they literally release guidelines and articles saying breakfast cereal is healthier than eggs. Dieticians and US guidelines exactly do say that you can and should eat processed food and should avoid natural whole foods like eggs, meat and animal fat. Since I removed all veg oils and switched entirely to animal fat my blood pressure has dropped 30 points.
@@SuzzyB52 Do junkies listen to their body as well ? Funny how carnivores are willing to believe mainstream medicine when it comes to alcohol , drugs and smoking , yet have their heads in the sand when it comes to carnivore .
I began eating carnivore only on Jan2 of this year and just crossed the 6month mark. I’m down 70lbs (lost the first 20lbs in the fall from keto). I feel incredible and I’m NOT ever going back. I’m eating the “proper human diet” now 👍🏻
me neither the simplicity is pure heaven. I eat keto but mostly meat, fat, butter, bacon and eggs and small amounts of dairy, nuts and green non starch veggies.
Same, but the problem is it does segregate you somewhat from family and friends, but basically its worth it… ive been carnivore 3 years and it improves everything, except you take a big social hit initially
100% agree. Eating has been redefined as a recreational activity in modern times. It is extremely difficult to become aware. Folks ask me all the time "How can I do that?" in reference to my obvious weight loss. I tell them. I then receive the response: "I can't do that. I like eating too much." The real gateway drug is, and has always been, sugar. That statement is in no way hyperbolic. It took me way too long to shake that programming.
I was obsessed with food and dieting my whole life. Found keto, but still too much gastric issues with vegetables, especially salads. Now ketovore, eating nose to tail and dont even think about food anymore. Finaly found food freedom. And optimal health.
I was raised on the SAD diet as a kid, I was sickly, suffered chronic IBS, fatigue and brain fog. I altered my diet in my adult years to consume mostly vegetables, grains, lean meat and oil because my doctors all said to, I got more sick. I had Hypothyroid, CFS, FM, and if I twisted a cap off of a jar the veins in my hands would rupture. I had osteoarthritis in my hands and spine, torn meniscus in both knees, and I was in agony. I was diagnosed with clinical depression. I couldn't do anything. I wanted to die. I've been on the Carnivore diet for 5 months now and the changes in my health are remarkable. I'm now fast walking with weights for 30 minutes everyday. Never in my life have I been able to do that. My thoughts now of eating vegetables and most fruits is like taking a cyanide pill. I want nothing to do with it. I've found some semblance of health, and no one is going to pee on my leg and tell me it's raining. I won't give up meat.
My husband is 61 he's been carnivore 2yrs not 100% but if he eats carbs his feet hurt so he mostly eats carnivore. Ive been keto going on 10yrs like my husband not 100% but i feel sluggish if i vear off.Im 58 birthday in August maintaining over 50lb weight loss.LCHF with IF is definitely a lifestyle for the rest of my life.
Hunger going away is an underrated benefit. I spent most of my life stuffing myself completely from morning to evening and never, ever reaching satiety. I would actually suffer intense despair when I reached the point where I couldn't eat any more (I was too full) but was still so, so hungry. Now I eat once a day, and am nowhere near full when I finish my meal, but I'm fully satiated. Very little cooking/cleaning involved, too.
that's me also!! I always felt hungry. The more I eat carbs, the more I was hungry. When I started to eat mostly meat I suddenly felt as if I " came home" , all the above gone!
The Carnivore way of eating is only considered a ‘fad’ diet because only a few people have been doing it for many years. As time goes on some will revert back to eating a varied diet with carbs etc., but anyone who has healed/reversed their health problems will most likely stick with carnivore for life. I certainly intend to.
It’s called a fad diet out of ignorance. Stable isotope analysis shows our species has predominantly consumed meat for hundreds of thousands of years. A plant based diet is a fad diet.
I have been on a Carnivore Diet for five (5) months and I have never felt better. I can't recommend it enough. Not only did I lose weight without even trying to lose weight, I no longer have digestion issues. Best thing I ever did.
What kept going through my mind listening to these 2 is that it is the nutritionists and their food pyramid that got us into this problem in the first place. So why would I listen to a classically trained nutritionist? And he's so sure that carnivores must eat fruits and vegetables at some point. In just over a year I have had maybe a few blueberries and very few vegetables. And Dr Westman had discussed many times after eating vegetables you get gastric upset/bloating or diarrhea. I know if I eat off I will feel it for a day or two. And get ankle swelling. Just how my body reacts. Thank you doc!
I get feet swelling if I have organ meats. If I eat fruits, low oxalic veggies, truly raw (or nearly so) cheese, occasional raw kefir. Muscle meats for the win,…. occasional skin, some fat,…. cooked. Some beer and rosé wine also fro the win,…. I'm an outdoors laborer/Landscape contractor and surfer.
I returned to eating one-third cup of frozen kale and one cup of fresh romaine lettuce per day after trying a diet consisting almost entirely of meat, some cheese, and dairy for three months. I put on weight because I stop eating at each meal based on the volume of the food that I consume and I was eating a huge amount of meat. Too much meat for my activity level which is quite high but not high enough to eat that much meat. Adding the leafy green vegetables to two meals makes the volume of the food look so much bigger that I feel satisfied with far less meat. It wasn't until Dr. Westman stated that one of the major reasons why the keto diet works is that most people eat less calories because they are satiated with the fat and protein that I realized that the total number of calories that I was eating each day had skyrocketed to over well over 600 or 700 calories a day more than I had previously been eating while consuming far more yogurt and some grains and too many fiber-rich and thyroid-destroying vegetables. I was able to put on weight on the carnivore diet while jogging and walking and lifting weight and burning about 800 calories a day.
@alexr6114 On the SAD diet I never felt satiety. When I first started eating carnivore I was eating huge quantities because I was so hungry. Over time now though I actually know when I'm hungry or not. The amount of food I eat is about half as much now. Never been much of a fruit eater, but I love vegetables. I eat them rarely because I get so gassy and bloated. Still eat some avocado. And occasional glass of wine.
These people crack me up about the “lack of micronutrients“ in meat. If someone has scurvy, the treatment is fresh meat. If someone is malnourished, the treatment is fresh meat, not a big salad. It’s almost like people get so stuck on the propaganda they have always heard that they forget common sense.
Members at my gym are mostly women, and many who exercise there religiously five days a week are overweight! They're not lazy, they're overdosing on carbs in their diets!
The Japanese are morbidly obese on their high carb lowish meat consumption diets . Meanwhile the biggest consumers of animal products on the planet the good old 🇺🇸 most of their residents are quite selvete .😊
I always know a dietician is a fraud when you ask them is a carnivore diet is good and they say NO! Then they will turn around and say eating bagels, cake, popcorn, fruits, are good for you.
I have diabetes so I get registered dietician counseling paid for by insurance, and my endocrinologist asks me to take the counseling. The doctors call it Lifestyle Management. I tried, over the years, seeing four different dieticians. They are all plant based advocates. If not out-right vegan, they are definitely vegetarian. I gave up on dieticians. Their rules and regulations for being 'registered' dieticians require them to teach the food pyramid, or whatever they are calling their guidelines now.
Former nurse here. Nutritionists don't always know best, and I found this out when I was working in long term care and had about 12 diabetics under my care. A few of them had hyperglycemia episodes daily due to poor diet and desserts offered at the end of meals, so I was injecting extra insulin units daily. One resident would have a fit each time her sugars were high because I didn't allow her to eat dessert. The nutritionist actually told me that regular desserts would not cause a problem, but trust me, they did! She was not the one taking care of the diabetic residents on dialysis, many of whom had various amputations.
My experience in long term care was very similar. Our dieticians were the same, and even expressed their opinions freely to our medical director, who was not amused -- the diet orders she wrote for diabetics were essentially ignored. Some nurses brought in healthier food for patients.
What's sad is that you can easily incorporate desserts if you change them up a little. I love desserts, but had to change up my desserts when I switched to low carb. That lead me in the direction of heavy cream desserts. Possets are awesome, versatile, and easy to make in batches. I just use allulose instead of regular sugar. Some carbs from fruit, but it's a very small amount when you compare them to normal desserts.
@@littlepotato2741 I had to look up to find out what a "posset" is. I'm from English parents (hubby called me an "Aussie made POM"). I had never heard of this food.
So their conclusion was that something weird was going on with people who don't eat carbs because it's polar opposite to the recommendations from their previous education, but why wouldn't they conclude that maybe their preconceived notions are wrong? Why would they not question what they have been told instead?

I have to comment about the so-called "food variety" - I find it not helpful when you don"t want to be addicted to eating. Simplicity is the best solution for me! Towards the right nutrition for the body. Carnivorish approach can be very simple. It functions for me very well.
I have a feeling with the Doctor in the podcast that he thinks he knows everything. Smarmy is the word i would use about him. Then contrast it with Dr Westman’s presentation. Humble and thoughtful as opposed to arrogant and degrading.
CArnivore 4 + years - nearly 57 - I was so crazily sick before with strange things that I thought was normal - eg no sleep, voices in head, dropping things, biting my tongue, mental confusion, brain fog, memory loss, anxiety (began in 40Ss) depression, suicidal thoughts (began late 40s) apathy for life, negative head, anger, mood swings, fell out with people, arthritic 2 fingers, tinnitus began, hot flushes, chronic cystitis, adult spots, major hair loss, brittle nails, rigid lines on nails, white spots on nails, stigmatism developed, teeth crumbled, allergies heightened, chemical sensitivity got crazy, very grey hair, dry eyes, receding gums, bleeding gums, heart palpitations, shortness of breath - UK size 10. so not overweight, gout in toe, ear wax, acid reflux, major headaches for years and years. knee pain, scoliosis diagnosed, neck pain - it would crunch and my head felt too heavy for my neck, knee bubble wrap popping, vertigo, procrastination, paperwork confusion, making very bad financial decisions, compulsive erratic buying, binging on carbs and sugars all the time, but in my head I was not a sugar person as I did not take it in my coffee. Veggies made me sick - poisoned by oxalates. ALL above gone - also I am de ageing - best for me is FATTY lamb ribs, FATTY steak, butter, smoked salmon, eggs and raw egg yolk and raw beef. I did in the beginning eat a lot of liver. Way of eating change over the years. Realised dairy does not help with mood swings makes it 100 times worse.
@@bonsummers2657I use some spices from time to time, milligrams at most. I drink 180 ml of coffee daily, that's more of a ritual. If I don't have it available, I'll drink hot water like Dr. Salisbury used to recommend. Be well.

@YeshuaKingMessiah eggs and cheese are carnivore…? Also, raw milk and whole yogurt are carnivore too, relatively high in carbs. You can have ketogenic carnivore and non-ketogenic carnivore.
Dr Westman thanks to your teaching from January 2024 at Adapt Your Life I have held fast to eating with cup of veges. Have MS and took a bad fall in February at the conclusion of the course but kept on :) I stalled a bit and attribute to MS complications but decided to try Carnivore (stricter Keto) on June 1st. I was eating meals from a "healthy meal program for older adults and others who want it need assist with meal prep". I was throwing out the potatoes, rice, carrots and only eating green beans and asparagus in a meal. After severe gastrointestinal issue and (incontinence of stool which could be the MS). I was horrified and decided to trial a stricter diet and try cooking myself after 4 years. Exhausted at first and full time with secondary progressive MS but notice a couple of days ago a teeny bit easier. Weight down and though not my primary goal to start all this was overweight but no amount of salads and healthy foods did a thing until carb restriction. Hoping the benefit continues and with more carb restriction will see. You gave me hope by your professional and kind presentation to everyone with whom you interact. Thank you! Long ramble but listened to this and your take and all I just expressed is confirmed. Did I say thank you? :)))))) !!!
If I were a researcher and I was studying a diet, I would definitely try it to know how it feels and what it's like. Why do these researchers never themselves want to experience the way of life they are studying and thus present themselves as experts.
This is a survey study, therefore an epidemiological study which is a low standard study and unreliable. If they did a true carnivore diet using people who practice it daily, no cheating, the results would blow their socks off.
5 weeks carnivore and have NEVER felt better! I can breathe through my nose for the first time in my life! Sleeps better. Never hungry - after 35 years of battling hunger. Energy is through the roof! I have a 3 month old bubba and i feel fantastic 🤩 thank God! I love this way of eating!
I stopped snoring 10 days in! I had sleep apnea for 25 years. I haven't snored since... and I dream. I cant believe how crap my sleep was for half of my life.
I’ve been to a ton of doctors non of which would support me on a keto diet. Even when I bet a doctor I could get my a1C down to 6.8 in 3 months, when I did it he said it’s unsustainable, you have to go back on insulin. Dr. Westman you are unique out there. Keep up the good work.
Nutrition science cannot ignore or deny what's happening in reality (more and more people are getting disappointed in the official guidelines) forever.
Keto to carnivore aren't diets, they're healthy eating for life. When they say "hamburger," they typically include the bun and veggies in that. Mine is two patties, cheese, and bacon with mustard. I've been reducing my carbs for 12 years. Currently, im at 3% carbs.
I've been on carnivore since Feb 27th and have cheated twice. I don't use my cane and pain is gone. My IBS is totally gone. I do miss my favorite foods but I could never go back to eating like I did. Looks like the pharmaceuticals won't be making their big bucks off of me. 😊
The simplicity of the carnivore diet is an important factor. Especially if you have a family you can just cook some extra meat alingside the family dinner and everyone has something to eat. If you also have to think of some keto side dish to cook it ads extra work

For me, this channel is one of the most credible and rationally comprehensible when it comes to critical, unbiased and scientifically oriented nutrition. The two scientists talking in the video assume that they are supposedly in good health and not that they are patients with clinically relevant symptoms, diagnoses such as prediabetism, diabetes II, metabolic syndrome, thyroid problems, etc., while the majority of those who prefer the carnivore diet or low-carb diet do so for health reasons.

I read this paper a few months ago and was interested but also tickled. I was in college in the late 60s, and the school had a heavy social/behavioral science emphasis. Very frequently there were surveys about our knowledge/experience with counterculture -- dress styles, music, hair, drugs, whatever. I thought it amusing that they found it necessary to "study" us in that way. After all, there we were, living our lives pretty much in plain sight, but I guess we seemed alien somehow. I had a hint of that same perspective when I read this paper. Carnivores are everywhere -- maybe even in the house next door. But the researchers seemed to treat them as an exotic species. I am glad that folks thought carnivore was important enough to look at, but still amused, and also a little saddened that it is apparently not natural to just talk to neighbors.
There are levels in this game. Dr Westman is at the highest tier. The sad thing is realising the world is full of 'experts' like these two well meaning figures. So grateful for your contribution Eric
I never understood the idea why humans are supposed to be best adapted to food that didn't exist in the 2 million years of evolution and was only created by man in the last couple of thousand years. That's like saying no animal species can be healthy unless it starts to create/hybridize/breed it's own food.

Where is the research study on diabetes done years ago by Duke and Harvard scientific community you mentioned published in a pediatric journal available? Question; I have colitis and have been in carnivore almost 3 months; still having daily diarrhea, ( which I have had for 30 years) do you have any suggestions? How long does it take for that to resolve? Do you take enzymes or HCL? Thanks for any tips . Oh I’m still very underweight, no weight gained at all on carnivore ; I’m 106 lb, 5’8” females. Muscle tone is better though; thinking I’m not digesting the fats with carnivore.
@kates.6542 how strict are you with it? Something as minimal as coffee can ruin your healing . I'd say you'd need to eat nothing but meat , a good mineral salt and water for a few days to a week , that's the strictest and most effective way to speed up healing. I struggled with fat absorbion for a while and lost too much weight and was worrying about it and thought about enzymes but eating fatty red meat it eventually leveled out and became fully fat adapted. Its the reversal of years and years of our bodies programming so does take a bit of time. Stick witb it you'll get the results soon ✨️

I did an online course through Dr. Westman’s academy in January, helped me get back on pretty strict keto. Didn’t need to lose weight, just feel better, sleep better. Lost a few pounds, gained energy. Cholesterol is up: total, LDL, HDL, triglycerides way lower. Between the course and listening to Dr. Malcolm Kendrick and reading his book on cholesterol, no longer worried about those numbers.
Thanks Dr Westman - another really interesting and thought provoking video. Does vitamin C truly exist? The sailors that supposedly had scurvy were very far from home and had almost certainly eaten all the live animals (and eggs from their chickens) they took with them - they would have been living on barrels of long gone off salted meat, ships’ biscuits and the remains of their barrels of water. (it was always the lower deck crew who got sick first by the way as the senior officers had the best food.) Were they vitamin C deficient or were they starving and just deficient in fresh meat? When they found land they would immediately hunt for fresh meat/fish as well as collect what vegetables and fruit they could. They would be back to fresh meat and fish not just random fruit that happened to be available. These men with scurvy supposedly got better with fresh fruit but they would have also been back to eating fresh meat and fish. The trials of the chemical they call vitamin C found that fresh whole fruit cured everyone but the chemical vitamin C only cured some - how were those trials run? Did some have fresh meat and some didn’t? Were they even remotely scientific trials as Dr Westman would understand them or were they biased trials run by the makers of vitamin C? These things are important as we have a world now where people are obsessed with ‘vitamins’ and I’ve seen, on medical FB groups for example, that many people think that we mainly eat to get vitamins and if they take a multi vitamin (chemical cocktail) then they are some how safe whatever they eat. We also see people even in the LCHF and carnivore world who are obsessed with vitamin D where that is that just a level in our blood that shows our level of sun exposure? They found a chemical concoction that raises that ‘number’ in blood tests and they call that concoction vitamin D but are people genuinely healthier if they have higher vitamin D levels in their blood from taking the concoction?? Is the whole belief in vitamins another misunderstanding (con IMHO) like official dietary advice, virology and most of allopathic medicine?
I did keto 5yrs lost 45 lb switch to ketovore, carnivore 1 yr and lost 50 pounds .i feel great had to get a hole new wardrobe 2 x and I'm not on any Rx just over the counter allergy pill and nose spray .I wish I found this when I was 20.
I'm not carnivore but totally see why the benefits are HUGE. I have been eating low carb, two meals a day and fasting 18 or 19 hours a day for four years and it suits me perfectly. In regards carnivore it's amusing to hear the "educated" talk negatively about a way of eating that sufficed for thousands of years.
The Inuit ate meat(fish) raw(frozen) regularly, they just chewed on sticks of fish basically. Vitamin C is known to be not particularly heat-resistent. So the question is if we still get enough Vitamin C from meat if we eat it well done mostly. I guess carnivores also eat butter and some "raw" yolks when they make fried eggs and might have medium steaks, so the meat/yolk isn't losing most of its water soluble vitamins. Also from what I've read in the past it seems like our need for Vitamin C is not very high, it's just that the sailors of old that got scurvy basically got no Vitamin C at all, as they mostly consumed canned foods and nothing fresh on their months long trips.
Don't forget that it's the glucose that competes with vitamin C for intestinal membrane transport proteins. Absorption of the small amounts of C in meat will be swamped by sugar and starch.
I do eat the occasional hot dog (the sausage). It's organic and comes from pasture raised pigs. Sure, they'll eat some grains and human bred veggies, but I'm sure it's still better than any whole grain bread or tropical fruit. Even if they added 1% sugars and some other natural stuff to it.
Carnivore for 8 years now at 65- Diagnosed withT1D, 57 years ago! Doing fantastic! Not going back ever! 😅 My Doc hates my diet, yet my body begs to differ... 😎♥️🎻
I’ve been carnivore for two years. Carbs withdrawals and cravings went away after about 6 weeks for me. Over time I learned that most triggers to doors of want processed or carbcentric foods is from traditions or some other psychological stimulus. It’s easy and I don’t feel deprived
What I don't get is how supposedly clever people haven't figured that all the traditional diet advice has failed miserably with a population that is steadily sickening. Kids are diabetic! After an unexpected medical diagnosis, I reviewed lots of videos, read google scholar studies and figured years of following the recommended diet (even vegetarian) for a while had landed me in a sorry place. Went Keto. Immediate and huge improvement, including mental clarity. Off medication after decades. So good have transitioned to carnivore at home, stray when out but avoid carbs/sugar as much as practical. Also like to avoid vegetable (seed) oils but accept that is what I'll come across and don't eat high oxalate/lectin vegetables/fruits if possible.
Usually we just roll our eyes at these type studies, right? But when the participants are eating ONLY meat, well that’s a fairly precise measurement. This study is significant!
Main problem with carnivore diet- people who yell at me ! So I’m trying to keep quiet about it, a year ago I tried to talk to my doctor- he told me I was going to die, so I don’t need that….then the ‘spiritual’ people look like I’ve just killed Fido!….. what about oxalates, lectins, phytoestrogens…..? I’m dumping oxalates- it’s rough….and I love all foods , I enjoy a piece of fruit every few days, and I use a bit of onion or garlic on my meat….but I feel alienated from most people…..but all medical has told me “at my age….etc.,” so I’m on my own ! I don’t want my eyes cut, and I’ve yet to find evidence that carnivore mammals get cataracts, also one vet advised. ‘If your dog is developing cataracts eliminate his carbs to slow that process….”,……so maybe I should just go to a vet for bloodwork .?? Thanks, I get, grass finished beef ( not grain fed ever ), water buffalo yoghurt, lots of water - more than 4 litres/day, Pasture eggs, various cheeses….. yes I fall off, for chocolate, fructose and suffer with hives/rashes overnight when I do…..
@@jobrown8146 I wouldn't be surprised, especially if it's the stuff that's watered down but oranges do have VC. But of course, meat and other things do to. With orange juice, it was a real advertising thing.

They forgot to define what "a hamburger" is. Just the meat in it is nothing like the complete hamburger. Also, pure sugars, vegetable oils and margarin are "vegetable based products". So, yes, there are reasons to worry about some of them.
I don't know why researchers don't have a phone app and the subject just takes a picture of everything they eat. This would be a 10000x more accurate then just self reporting.
I am a carb addict. I know because I have withdrawals when I stop eating them for a day. Starches and sugars and grains no longer exist in my house. This was an adjustment but animal protein and a few vegetables are all that’s left for me. Self reporting it’s easier and I feel so much better, mentally and physically.
Last June I discovered carbs spike my blood glucose over 190. I never had that trouble before. I cut carbs and sugar and ate my bacon eggs and cheese. One other meal in late afternoon, using meat and salad with vinegar and olive oil. I didn’t obsess over carnivore guidelines, I focused on BG. Here in early Aug my BG is between 90 and 105, even postprandial. Side effect is I dropped from 185 to 170 and blood pressure is 113/75 from 146/90. My doctor wondered why I was worried because I’ve always been healthy. But I picked up on a trend and jumped on it. Btw, I’m 66, 5’11”, and historically fit until hip replacement surgery last April.
I meant to add no hunger at all until around 3 pm after my 6 am 3 eggs, 4 bacon, 35 g sharp cheddar breakfast. No desire for snacks, which seems like o be a plus
Why can't people who claim to be so intelligent wear glasses that stay up on their noses. "Phytonutrients" literally means "plant nutrients." But it sounds so much more highfalutin' to say phytonutrients.
In regards to the elimination of processed foods being possibly misleading to carnivore results, I can say that when I started carnivore (4 months ago) I had already been on a 5yr journey of attempting to regain my health. I retired from a very physical and mentally stressful job at 60. I was so adrenal fatigued after 45yrs of high stress, I knew if I didn't quit I was going to die. So I left the city and retired in a small village on the Oregon coast and decided to put all my efforts toward healing a life of no sleep, 15 hour work days and a diet of whatever fast food was available. I tried keto and intermittent fasting for over 3yrs. The elimination of sugar in my diet definitely made a huge improvement as well as getting more than 4hrs sleep each night, but I still never reached the level of actually "feeling great". Also with Keto, which advocates eating dark green leafy vegetables led to me eating lots of spinach and kale which apparently are high in oxolates and it caused me to have kidney stones! (a story for another time). Anyway, even with keto I still had bowel and bloating issues as well as skin problems and my energy level was near zero. So now here I am after 4 months of carnivore and wow!! All of those things (and more) have improved immensely! I was apprehensive to try carnivore at first. I was afraid I could make myself worse but I took a leap of faith and I don't regret it one bit. The results were undeniable. I am pain free and I'm getting my energy back. Best of all is now I can say "I feel great"!
They didn’t even control the data to actual carnivores, many of them ate plants according to the paper, you could only call it meat-heavy diet which I’d predict in the case of adding fruit wouldn’t have the same positive profile.
My only regret with the carnivore diet is I didn't start this 20 yrs ago.
I have a conflict with the term "carnivore diet"
Carnivores eat raw meat that either kill by themselves or some other carnivore kills and they steal it.
We shouldn't call this carnivore because as far as I know, we COOK the meat - something that genuine carnivore won't touch (we should not give dogs as an example because they will eat cooked meat, but then again, dogs will eat whatever we give them)
I would say this sort of diet should be called "meat only diet".

How come I can’t loose weight
As a Carnivore, my life no longer revolves around food.

Same, but the problem is it does segregate you somewhat from family and friends, but basically its worth it… ive been carnivore 3 years and it improves everything, except you take a big social hit initially
But it kinds of does

Their rules and regulations for being 'registered' dieticians require them to teach the food pyramid, or whatever they are calling their guidelines now.
@AJH-ke4lj

Same here. They are killing these people and just add medications that kill them faster. 😢

three years getting younger every day
I've been on carnivore since Feb 27th and have cheated twice.
If you also have to think of some keto side dish to cook it ads extra work
I try to tell people that and all I get is they can’t afford it.

I used to like cocaine and acid along with my marijuana and alcohol. Then I learned it was drug addiction. A Dr telling me he likes plant toxins is saying the same thing... SAD... Thank you Dr Westman!
I started carnivore back in august 2023, so almost a year now, it was my last desperate option after years of dealing with medics, dieticians and personal trainers without progresss. Im 1.75cm in height and when i started i was close to 90kg. Nowadays i'm at a comfy 75kg, with my muscle mass climbing up slowly, just as my fat % is going down.

I am a male, 78 years old. At 76 I was a type 2 diabetic, had high blood pressure, joint pain in my hands and knees, was taking omeprazole for heartburn, taking flowmax for enlarged prostate and was 215 lbs. i went on the carnivore diet 18 months ago and lost 35 lbs in the first 2 months. My blood work is good, my blood pressure is normal, i no longer take the two medications and i feel great. I eat steak, eggs, some dairy but no vegetables, or carbs. I only wish I had started this earlier in my life.
hamburger is just ground beef. its got the same nutrition as the beef that was ground up. the hotdogs I buy are 100% all beef hotdogs, the casing is made from sheep intestine not beef, but they are 100% natural. they are healthy enough.
Might the meat in your hot dogs be 100% beef while at the same time the hot dog might not be 100% meat? Get the difference? Manufacturing companies can be so sneaky. Just wondering. I didn’t know that some hot dogs include very little meat as a %.

As Dr Westman says, don't through it out because it suggests that several thousand people didn't die within 6 months eating lots of or mostly meat.

The most paradoxical thing about the general view on sausages is that the stuff people complain most about (it contains stuff other than muscle meat like fat, tounges, organs and what not) is the stuff that is the most healthy compared to lean steak as it contains lots of good micronutrients, fats and special amino acids.

You're right about the organs etc but the issue with most sausages is that they contain bread / flour/ or soy products as fillers. Some don't.

In my view, the keto diet stands out as the most balanced among low-carb diets, which is why I choose to follow it.
I was keto for nearly a year, when I switched to carnivore I lost more weight and got a huge boost to my health and many "age related" conditions healed completely. I thoroughly recommend giving carnivore a go even if you are already keto.

While I appreciate the healing aspects of the carnivore diet, I prefer to stick with keto or ketovore for long-term metabolic flexibility. 😁

Where is the research study on diabetes done years ago by Duke and Harvard scientific community you mentioned published in a pediatric journal available? It's taken 8 months but... colitis healed, pancreatitis healed , psoriasis gone, nail fungus gone even eye brow hairs that grew usually long.. gone. Ear wax no more and this week... over a year off losing leg hairs ( male ) from poor circulation, iv noticed legs hair returning in abundance! This way of eating is legitimately a wonder

I love that your videos are short!
Or even millions of years.
Educated actually means indoctrinated or brainwashed!
If you're fat adapted, your body requires less vitamin C due to reduced oxidative stress. The amount provided in the diet is sufficient.
I would be supplementing I don't care what the cult of carnivore influencers would say - C is needed for collagen formation.
I think that to a great extent those sailors had to exist on old dry biscuiys, with little or no meat. No wonder they died.
Meat has its own form of vitamin c called DHAA, it’s actually our preferred form.

The biggest difference between a steak and a hot dog is the carbohydrates in the hot dog bun.
The fact that its the opposite of what big pharma recommends is all i need to know to go in full speed
They forgot to define what "a hamburger" is. Just the meat in it is nothing like the complete hamburger.
Also, pure sugars, vegetable oils and margarin are "vegetable based products". So, yes, there are reasons to worry about some of them.

Here in early Aug my BG is between 90 and 105, even postprandial. Side effect is I dropped from 185 to 170 and blood pressure is 113/75 from 146/90. My doctor wondered why I was worried because I’ve always been healthy. But I picked up on a trend and jumped on it.

Did you notice any difference in your body after the cheat? How did you feel?
@@fransiereinhardt3343 yes, about 4 lbs. Face was puffy, bloated belly. Thirsty for water, bad gas.
