Big car export facility in Rhode Island. Used to an an Air Force Base. Definitely worth a visit especially if you want to set up a really, really, really big shop.
That's where the truck I had when the brakes froze up got towed to.
Talk about hard work!
$8000 just because the fluid froze in the air lines.
Anyhow at least the braking system worked correctly!

Lot's to do in Providence which is a major City. No farms so not my kind of landscape. Cape Cod Canal out that way if you want to see what a real internal combustion engine doing work looks like.

Holy cow Scotty, a man working in his home garage while having 5 million you tube subscribers. Great show Scotty. The show that is your life man.
I'm guessing he doesn't want to have a "regular" commercial garage because then he'd have to supervise other people and it would be hard to take off to other places whenever he gets the urge. Why put up with that hassle?
Scotty's got it set up so he can wrench when he feels like it and have plenty of time to do what he seems to like doing best: interacting with his millions of UA-cam friends. The guy's kind of a career genius.
the man's an inspiration, two videos a day, crawling under cars on his driveway at 70, hard to complain when you look at what he can do.
Has anyone done a report on what it costs per mile to run an electric vehicle. I would like to see a head-to-head comparison of the fuel costs for internal combustion engine and an electric motor. The cost per mile of an electric vehicle would need to include the depreciation of the batteries. Somebody should ask Scotty about this.

@@robhernandez7322 it's just like with pets. My dog ended up becoming EXACTLY like me, it's actually creepy. He isn't overly enthusiastic about anything and has a mild temper, likes chilling out. He just hangs around and exists, his presence alone is enough for me to appreciate him. He's a picky eater and doesn't drink enough water. It's actually crazy how similar we are.

We purchased a Toyota Matrix 7 years ago, and it's been the best car we have ever owned. It still drives as good as the day we bought it.
only problem i had was the belt tensioner making a racket, don't go aftermarket!!! bite the bullet and buy oem, it will save you headaches

Don’t tell Scottie but I have a 2010 Dodge Caravan with 165,000 miles that I drive 150 miles to work 3 days a week and never had any engine or transmission problems

On my road trip to Florida from Minnesota, we found that Tennessee was the only enjoyable place we stopped on the entire trip. Even the drivers were better.

@@SteveB88 drivers sucked, customer service sucked, roads sucked, neighbors of the rental house sucked, even in a nice gated community the neighbors sucked. There is a real social problem in Florida, not alot of kindness or consideration of others, and you can't go anywhere without hearing crappy autotune music.
The tourist stuff is alright, nothing spectacular, definetly overrated.

I get the joke, but in reality, Scotty is the exact opposite of an endless money pit. He says, "I'm cheap" and you can see it in his motor vehicles (which are nevertheless always ready to go).
I'm a year younger than Scotty. My father was raised during the Great Depression and struggled during the post-WW2 period. There was no alternative to being cheap back then - and continuing through my young years. I know exactly why Scotty was taught to be cheap.

I’ve changed a coil pack,battery, spark plugs , took a tire of the time and balanced it with the old tire machine, changed light bulbs etc. Scotty reminds me of my grampy who wasn’t a mechanic, he was a machinist but was very knowledgeable. Sounding good brother. I have a 1985 m1009 Cucv with no running head lights all other light work. It’s on 24 volts every time I change the bulbs they blow out on me. I can’t even run the high beams, because they blow out too.
I'm old enough to remember service stations that had those signs. Now there's maybe three or four.
I imagine that real estate and property values in Rhode Island are about as expensive as anyplace else in the Northeast. I've priced places on Long Island and it's just beaucoup expensive. Not only the property value itself but the taxes are outrageous.

Can get nice lakefront property in California cheeper than lesser properties in say, chigger-ridden Missouri... if you know where to look tho!

Scotty I lived in Groton CT for most of my adult life. Being a Submarine Sailor, Groton CT was my home. Not too far from RI Line. I would have LOVED to be able to personally meet you. BUT,, I retired and moved to Sunny El Paso TX. in January If you ever have an opportunity to visit El Paso, PLEASE stop by and visit. I love your house and yard! Here's one. 2004 Astrovan AWD, I don't know why, but it will start then stop, within a few seconds. But, if I start it using the remote start it will start and stay running, I then turn the key on, and away I go, I have to start it with the remote start, then turn key n. hmm.

In the mornings It starts just fine. But 30 seconds later it makes a rattling sound in all the gears, If I put it in neutral the shaking stops.
It had a blown head gasket : done ✅
Water pump : done ✅
EGR : done ✅
EGR cooler : done ✅

Regarding the security switch/key issue, try this: turn key to accessory and leave there 15 minutes, now turn key back, and try. It worked on my 2002 Chevy Malibu for years.

Years ago I took a new Unimog for a test drive at the dealer and it just so happens that a Unimog engineer was there from Germany. He offered to take me on a test drive. We came upon a huge mud bog at a new building site after a rain. It looked like a pond, he told me to drive through it. We went in up to the doors and it came out the other side, All the construction guys were applauding as we came out of the "pond". The thing that stuck with me is he told me that building Unnimogs they have only one problem. He said when municipalities buy a Unimog they never buy another one because they build them too good and they last for 40 plus years. I couldn't afford the 80K price tag back in the 80's for a new Unimog so I politely made my exit, with a huge smile on my face.
Ah yes. Scotty… the man that can and does and helps everyone along the way, (except the rogue garages & dealers).

Yeah GM BCM's can be weird. My 03 Malibu's was a little funky. If it was bright enough out the BCM for some reason would shut my daytime running lights off and turn on the "Service Vehicle Soon" light on the dash. Headlights could still be turned on manually and when it was nighttime it wouldn't even cause a fuss, it only had an issue with daylight lol.
