    YES! Love where this is going. Currently running the CRs turns myself, but because of my setup if a car with good speed finds/starts on the inside lane it wins like 95% of the time coming out of them - I love the randomness MOT track adds! Although...not a fan of the loss of control/flipping..really looking forward to the next video!

    • @spoolheads

      Thanks for the comment and encouragement! I’m going to try to flatten out the middle of the exit a little more. That should help prevent the flipping.

    Looks great. The problem you say you are having with yout mod track is the same problem I have with a CR set I use. If you was to go watch my videos almost all cars that start high on a line go down to the bottom line. It could be my set up I don't know. But it does happen regularly. So for me anyway what your saying is no problem. If you can improve on that it would also be a big upgrade using your track over a CR. Awesome job either way. Keep up the great work and great videos. Maybe one day I will be able to use your stuff on my track. Happy racing

      From my experience I see that a lot when cars are traveling at lower speeds. The bank is so steep on CR that anything below a certain speed will definitely cause cars to slide down. In this video, I'm showing cars going over 300 1:64mph, which is pretty fast. It would be great to do a test at 200 or even 150 1:64mph and compare. There's a bit of an argument to removing the grooves at the beginning so cars can find a natural line to take, yet another fun test! Thanks for your comment!

      @@spoolheads I wish I was smart enough to figure out speed on my track lol. Both stock and mod Cars do the same the same things. But I get what your saying makes a lot of sense.

      @@ricksdiecastracing I'm going to make a video about how to measure eventually. For now, you need a three of pieces of information and a camera.
      - Marked distance travelled in centimeters because measuring in inches is the worst. CR track is 50 cm long so that makes measuring easy if you are using CR track.
      - Frame rate of camera
      - # of frames it takes to travel from the start of the measurement area to the end. I just set in an out points in my editing program, or I even count them frame by frame if I'm really lazy.
      Then use this equation.
      (Distance in cm) * (Frames per second of the camera) / (# of frames it took to travel to the end line) * 1.44
      This will give you the realtime 1:64mph. Then you can times that number by whatever you slow the races down by to see how fast they travel in your videos.
      For example, in this video, I filmed Mr. Darq at 120fps and he travelled 100cm in 48 frames.
      100 * 120 / 48 * 1.44 = 360 1:64mph realtime
      I slowed it down by 50% so that in playback, he's going 180 1:64mph, which feels about right.

      I tend to call it a start gate. I’ve made an electric start gate now with a wireless controller. I’ll show it in my next video. Email me at sales@spoolheads.com on price and order details. Thanks for watching!

    What is ‘best’ or ideal speed in your testing for the open lane spool heads turn?

    • @spoolheads
      @spoolheads  Рік тому

      "Artifacts" really show up more at high speeds. In realtime, it's 300-400 1:64mph. To calculate it:
      (Distance in cm)*(Frames per second of the camera)/(# of frames it took to travel to the end line)*1.44 for mph/hour
      (Distance in cm)*(Frames per second of the camera)/(# of frames it took to travel to the end line)*2.32 for km/hour - I think this is right but I only understand miles/hour :)

    • @spoolheads
      @spoolheads  Рік тому

      Good point. Yeah, I didn’t show it very well but the entrance is higher than the exit by a few inches. Both turns can be bent when installing to allow that. Thanks for your comment. I love your channel. Keep up the track building and racing!

      @@spoolheads I know you've been talking about the humps In the track. How about lining the humps up on the run end and remove them from the turns. Also do you need any nineteen nineties era test cars.

    • @spoolheads
      @spoolheads  Рік тому

      @@DJyyz I have a version of the turn that doesn't have grooves. It works great for short angle turns. For longer angled turns, not having grooves causes the cars to have a strange up and down motion through the turn which seems a little unnatural to me. For right now, I've got all the cars I can handle ;) They are everywhere and I can't keep them organized.

    • @DJyyz
      @DJyyz Рік тому

      10/4 It was just a ideal, And for the cars I would just like to donate them to you and your boys for your efforts. IT'S all good I understand completely on having too many cars. Keep up the good work. Dave
