This is not just a behind-the-scenes look...but a tribute of love to your dad. I'm so glad I subscribed! Plus, your natural speaking voice is PERFECT for a sports commentator, like Jim McKay from ABC News! You and "the other host" sprinkling in a little comedy bits, mixed with this epic labor of love...Chef's Kiss! I hope you continue to add on, like perhaps painting or gluing water under the bridge, or more diorama's around the track. But it is a wonderful track that I even love more!
Awesome I'm in the process of building a 2 lane drag track and yes I'm 50 LOL.Had no where to store all my collection then I saw a video on UA-cam of adult diecast racing.
It's very innovative how you incorporated those drift sections (and now that I understand how you did it I have a greater appreciation). And as a fellow model railroader, your dad has a fantastic layout. Envious!
Thank you for that amazing behind the scenes look and the process. Amazing. I feel you on wanting to follow one's father's foot steps. The track setup your father had was amazing. I love HO scale, and I'm playing with ideas. Again thank you for this awesome video, and thank the wife for allowing you to do this and give us an amazing show.
THANK YOU for sharing this!! Love your dad's work and I knew you had experience with model railroading. If I haven't said it before, this is one of my favorite tracks. I love the detail and I agree you don't necessarily have to build something huge to have fun. Looking forward to seeing more races and anything else you have to share. And by the way, there's NEVER anything wrong with playing with toy cars! I'm 58 and it helps relieve stress and I'm working on my own track as well.
I've never been a huge fan of trains but a nicely detailed train set is a work of art. I love the fact that your track looks like a train set, that's killer
Time is the major component of any successful track build...... What a great build inspired by your dad.... this is a wonderful project and I look forward to seeing more races on this track
Cheers for sharing your build mate! I love how it started as a small drift track and ended up as a full on race track. Absolute well built and you must be proud!!
Many thanks for taking the time to share the background of the track, and for your useful hints! I keep procrastinating (well, getting distracted by 'boring, grown-up things') in regard to building my own track, but this was inspiring.
My hat goes off to all you guys who put in this kind of effort! Nice work. Sorry to here about the job situation during the pandemic. We lost a lot of our AE’s here in Cininnati as well. I’m a machinist here and was fortunate enough to survive the layoffs. A lot of guys weren’t as fortunate.
Thanks for sharing! I am anticipating building my own course as well. I was fortunate enough to continue working through the pandemic, but I fell in love with watching diecast makeovers, diorama making, and diecast racing channels. By day I am an industrial safety professional, but I am a former maintenance mechanic and electrician who was the youngest son of a carpentry teacher and builder. I have two daughters who think I'm "cheesy" about my hobby because I have to have acquired 1000 diecasts in the past year or so. My youngest wants to help build a track layout with me, so now I may integrate the drift method as I see how it works, now. Great job, and more success to you!
It was your track that inspired me on my first build (just starting) doing mine with blue foam, futureboard etc... Thank you so much for sharing your build.. I will be watching this a lot in the coming months. It is your realism that is really inspiring. 44 with a 2 year old so hot wheels is life in our house (built him a simple drop 2 lane wall mounted drag strip already) ... This next one is for me.
Great work and so nice to see your creativity take shape. Well done on the final product. Personally, I regards this as one of the most realistic looking tracks out there. The drift pad added a great visual experience and the egg beater an equaliser! Well done Mark and thanks for sharing.
Great video man. We hand built our entire track from scratch so totally understand the test, build, more testing, secure things down, test again and on and on. It's a fun and rewarding process but also more time consuming than being able to just lay down standard track. Great work on the track, it looks fantastic
thank you for sharing your story with us. i couldn't stop smiling while i was watching the video it is a great story. my hat off to you for the dedication and creativity ( well you are an Engineer so no wonder)
I've seen it in person - it's an impressive work of art!!! I had been wondering about so many aspects of this endeavor - then there's the video capture, editing, storyline, editing, narration, video elements - it's a lot of fun/work!
thanks for sharing! great video for Channels like mine and people like me, especially seeing how you show us it dont happen over night, and how you say you dont have to be big or spend alot to start and enjoy this hobby.
Well done sir! Thanks for making this. it was really interesting to see your process and know all the hard work that actually went into that track. Amazing
That was really nice of you to do for all of us as you have a very rare track indeed and we all wanted to know..."How does he do that." Thank you so much for sharing and I agree with all of the 18 comments below.
Bro it awesome to see so much creativity to make a hot wheel track like that. When I get old enough I want to make big extravagant tracks just like that and this video proves nothing is impossible
Heading into mid 50s ...I'm already planning at track for game room this video and others have been great information to me. Plus I show my wife so she's knows I'm not the only crazy hot wheels person out there
that's amazing, mate!!! really good work. this is one of the best diorama + tracks out there and very nice use of drift pads I really hope your channel can grow :)
I feel your pain. We have a track called Clutch Mountain and we went through some of the same things during our process. Still working on it. But love your guys setup, the drifts are awesome! Nice work
A fantastic video. It amazes me (and please don't take this as an insult) how small the full track is. The great camera work and scenery really build the illusion of a large space.
you have a genius really for the kids ! it makes them work their imagination, to build circuits with various materials around themselves congratulations
Hey Mark thanks for showing how you built your track It is one of the coolest tracks I've seen of course love the drifting everyone I show it to they wonder how does he make them drift now I can send them this video so they can see how you make them drift but I do I'm 53 years old still play with my Hot Wheels built my own track of course took it down had to move it to a bigger place I have more room now to build it bigger and like your dad I'm also a model railroader so because I have built train sets and race tracks yep going to combine the two hopefully this fall sometime it'll all be ready thanks again for your videos.. keep on tracking
great video, really appreciate your work and how to build this kind of racing track, I've always wanted one of by own but I just had no idea on how to build it. You've earned a subscribe.
I appreciate you making this video ... I've been a hot wheels fan for years (a lot cheaper than owning the real cars ... though I have a few). I remember playing with the hot wheel cars, with my kids when they were young, making hills and roads in the dirt ... (they had their cars .. I had my own.) I enjoy watching the racing ... starting more with the lock down, and so angry at sports who don't support America, I've boycotted everything but NHRA drag racing, and Professional bowling (which weren't very active during the lock down.) I have designed a racing layout, combining HO trains with HO slot cars (which I also have collected for years) ... but your insights have given me inspiration ... I doubt will ever show up on UA-cam however.
Oh, I would love to see you build an HO slot car/HO train set layout! I seriously wanted to combine my HotWheels track with an S-scale train (1:64), but I was surprised how expensive it was to buy that particular gauge.
excellent video and excellent explanation, I have a model railway and seeing your video makes me want to start a new one for my 1/64 cars, thanks for sharing
I’m 60 years old and I’m having more fun playing with hot wheels now than I did as a kid. Love your channel!🤘
You are a friend of mine !

I pray even now that me and my son will have a bond as much as you and your dad....and as you and your son have... this is great!
Thank you so much. Knowing that you're praying tells me you will experience fulfillment and growth with your son exceeding your expectations.
Thanks for the detail in what the process was. Helps people considering projects recognize and visualize
It's a lot of work, but it is Worth it! And Building is part of the Fun! One of the best Tracks!👍🏁🏁🏁
Awesome I'm in the process of building a 2 lane drag track and yes I'm 50 LOL.Had no where to store all my collection then I saw a video on UA-cam of adult diecast racing.

Such a wonderful video! Thank you so much for sharing your story and your process!
This is so cool. Even better than that is the family element. The more things like hot wheels facilitate deeper connection, the better.
I loved your track before, but this makes me absolutely adore it. Thank you so much for sharing
I totally agree!
I was gonna ask in the comments if you would do a background of the track. Thanks for sharing!
Excellent work Mark! Thank you so much for giving us the back story of your father and your build process on this fabulous track!
THANK YOU for sharing this!! Love your dad's work and I knew you had experience with model railroading. If I haven't said it before, this is one of my favorite tracks. Building my own track as I view how you built yours ... really cool ... thanks
Thank you for sharing the history of how your track came to be, that first drift is always fun to watch, but so is watching the whole race. :)
The drifting aspect is quite unique. 👏
Thank you Mike for sharing behind the scene stories and all those tips and tricks...love this channel

I just discovered this channel and I am so glad you showed your process for building the amazing track. Looks like a lot of work but well worth it.

Very good. If you want to drift cars, I recommend either at the beginning or at a point where the separate lanes merge together.
It was your track that inspired me on my first build (just starting) doing mine with blue foam, futureboard etc... Thank you so much for sharing your build..
