Russell, this a so entertaining! What blows me away is that you're optimizing your turn for ANY Hotwheel. Although people say my track is original, it isn't optimal for any car.
Thanks Mark!
Beautiful turn 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks Lucas!!!
Wow Russell, that looks just pure-amazing. I can't wait to work one into my track. 🤩😎🍺
Me too!
I love these test sessions. Also - much respect for building the turns in multiple increments.
Yep, that aspect lends more flexibility in design for sure!
It will be really fun for me to test those increments in upcoming videos. I hope they don’t stink ;) Thanks for watching and the comment.
Awesome work!! Looking great, would love to see that entrance without the grooves also.
Love it!!
Excellent coffin shipping box you crafted 👏
Definitely will need to explore it. I also need to figure out how to beat your car. You were up a car length on John Alexander over 6’ of track. I’m not even close right now.
@@Chris_Hood purchased :)
Love the evolution of the turn and I’d imagine no grooves at the entrance would be a bonus but who knows! We’ll leave it to you sir! Good luck with the van 😉
Fingers crossed!
Hahaha! Better than Parts🙂
Great demonstration of your design work. I'm glad the Monte Carlo I built to rollover on command is still working! I have another car that will leave a trail of graphite down your track and onto the floor :)
Lol! I feel like just using that Monte Carlo for stunt shots :) Let me know if you ever want these cars back for your display case.
Great new intro. Keep it up!
Thanks B
Love it!
Can’t wait!
And the junkyard wreckfest idea is awesome 👏
Thanks!!!!! I love that you get to watch the videos first because everyone else on my side of the earth is already asleep by the time I post video. LOL!
Open track Junkyard Joust!! Greenlight that project 👏
My first take on the grooves is that while allowing more space between grooves such that a car taking the outside line doesn't "hop" is fine, definite improvement there. Will there ever be a golden spacing and height for the grooves? Most likely not, unless we're running identical cars for an event. With that said, I'm always seeing better action in the turns, even from the first ever video you made, compared with standard CR track. Just the fact alone that your segments allow for more precise and varied track design raises that bar!
I'm hesitant to get on board with the concept of no grooves on the beginning of a turn, unless you plan on designing a gradual re-emergence of those grooves so cars don't suddenly impact those during a turn.
Great feedback Chris. I feel like the “artifacts” of this turn are in it’s design of the turn profile. It is really hard to transition from flat to flat on the inside with a very big bank, back to flat again, especially keeping in mind that these are driverless toy cars without suspension or turning capability. I’m really proud of the work I’ve done on this. I think with more work, it could get a few percent better and that will come over time. Once I get the “standard “ ramp updated to match these grooves, I think it is time for me to move on to a couple totally new turn ideas that I have. I’m really excited to share those with the diecast community. That’s for all your support!
MUCH improved. YES! Man I'm pumped for this. Its the side by side entrance and around the turn that I'm most anticipating - because my track at home is SO basic I depend on what happens when two cars enter my turn at the same time. With the crash racers turn, I have a huge problem with the inside lane winning 95% of the time when both cars enter together side by side (even if the car that takes the high point on the turn is faster) and down my straight to the finish line. I guess the inside lane is shorter distance as well..im fighting for a way to rectify this. You're innovating and changing the race game here with your trials - lead the way and i'll follow!
That’s great info! I love the way cars that are side by side battle through this turn. Reach out to me at sales@spoolheads.com. Thanks!
Very nice design track bro
Glad you like it!
Track looks to work really well. I would keep the grooves. If this is not THE track yet, it's pretty close. Again, thank you for doing this for the community.
Thanks Jeff. It will be interesting to see how this turn impacts the community, especially considering using Crash Racers is just easier and less expensive. But what I’m working on next I think will have a big impact:)
@@spoolheads For passionate people, putting a little more money into our hobby should be fine! 😅 As for the "next thing" I just can't wait to see! I'm sure it will be great.
That was great, totally dig it 😀new sub 😉👍
Thank you for the sub!
Always love your test sessions! Great work!
Near the vid end you show the cars crossing over to lines to go into the corner, and query whether they should be removed.
Great vid shows the scenario well. Rather than remove them, is it possible just in that scetion to lower the profile of the lines in that section, so less of a bump? Just a thought.
Thanks for showing your progress.
Cheers, Marc D
I think that's a very nice compromise in design, lessen the potential initial jostling about when the car leaves the CR track and enters the turn
Totally possible. Great thought!
Looks really great 👍 my input would maybe be to shorten the height of the grooves to try and match the height of the Crash Racers a little better. I have also noticed that the shape of my Crash Racers turns aren't a semi-circle shape, but rather more oval. I've noticed that yours is more concave and I've wondered if by slightly flattening it if that would reduce the rollovers. Just a thought. Even then it looks great. I'd def consider buying if I hadn't just bought a $500 360 camera xD
Great thoughts on this. I'll take a look at it. Thank you for taking the time to share and help the development process!
interesting catch you have on the ribs/grooves. what if you kept the 1st rib full, but 2nd 3rd 4th 5th and 6th groove/rib started farther down the piece? would that let the cars choose their lane easier??
Good idea!
Are you going to release the 3d print files too? Would be so great. It’s nearly impossible to get stuff here in Germany. There’s no Walmart Crash Racer set and to pay all the delivery and taxes from the us don’t make any sense. Pls! Greetings and awesome job!
I have no plans to release the STL files to this turn. It is a VERY challenging turn to slice correctly and I have zero design to spend time supporting people through it. Please reach out to me a sales@spoolheads.com and lets talk more and see if we can come up with a solution.
Hello Mr. Spoolhead, I was wondering if you sell those homemade corners and iif so, how much? 2 of those
For sure. Check out spoolheads.com. Thanks!
Any plans of having a website one can order from?
There are plans. Right now I'm swamped with a couple projects that I've committed to. The sooner I can get it up, the better it will be for me for sure. You can contact me at sales@spoolheads.com if you want to order something for now. Thanks!
