This is a dream come true. I was (and am) a HUGE Carol and Lucy fan. Wow! I can't believe I missed this when I was younger. I watched both of them religiously!
Two of my favorite comedians. I wish they would have made some movies together. They were great together. I'm just sorry we don't have anything like that anymore. People today don't know how wonderful and fun these shows were. It's a shame.
They did make several joint appearances on "THE LUCY SHOW" at the time. And Lucy wanted Carol to star in her own sitcom, produced by Desilu. Carol, however, graciously declined her offer, because she really wanted to star in a weekly variety show of her own (which she did, beginning in the fall of 1967).
Lucy guest starred with Carol on her show and Carol did the same on for the Lucy Show. I never knew Lucy guest starred on Carol's show, thank goodness for yt
The Official Second Season of Lucille Ball's second series The Lucy Show, is coming to DVD on July 13, 2010! If you haven't seen the Lucy show it is so funny! And the second season co-stars Vivian Vance(Ethel)! Also it's in Color!
Loved seeing Lucy and George Burns on The Lucy Show - she was 55 (looked beautiful) George was 70. Their skit together was similar to Burns and Allen skit, then they did a song and dance number together - one of my all time favorites.
i remember first seeing this specia lback in 1967 on my black n white tv after that up unitl1978 her farewell show i saw all her shows every week i first saw her in the old gary moore show
Chutzpah (pronounced /ˈxʊtspə/) is the quality of audacity, for good or for bad. The word derives from the Hebrew word ḥuṣpâ (חֻצְפָּה), meaning "insolence", "audacity", and "impertinence." The modern English usage of the word has taken on a wider spectrum of meaning, however, having been popularized through vernacular use in film, literature, and television.
Hi, I am participating in my towns anual lip sync and really wanted to preform chutzpah. Your video is the only one I can find. I was wondering if you would be willing to e-mail me a copy of the video?
Probably not, unfortunately. You can tell it was recorded on VHS. VHS resolution is about 1/16 that of DVD. Unless this special gets released on DVD or Blu Ray, a better quality version won't be available.
I don't agree. I loved Rosalind Russell in non-musical Auntie Mame and Loved Lucille Ball in the musical Mame - she talked/sang her tunes (same as Rex Harrison did in My Fair Lady and he won an Oscar)also Lucille had a serious injury to her leg two years before, where one leg was broken in 4 places and still was able to dance her scenes.
@@LJ-ht4zs The difference is that other than "I've Grown Accustomed To Her Face", the Higgins songs in "My Fair Lady" are patter songs that can easily be performed in the singspiel style that Rex Harrison used. I've always thought it was a shame that we get Rex Harrison's talk singing for "I've Grown Accustomed To Her Face" which has such a beautiful melody, but Harrison's way of performing Higgins was perfect for that character. Mame, on the other hand, is intended to be sung by a powerhouse singer, not a non-singer doing singspiel. The talk/sing style just doesn't fit the character in the same way that someone really belting out the tunes does. While Ball was fine with the dancing and to a certain extent the acting, it's Mame's huge musical numbers that are really the centerpiece of the show. Lucy just couldn't handle it, and it was to the film's detriment.
Two wonderful comediennes. One only wishes that we had this quality of comedy today. Thank you Carol, thank you Lucy.
John Ferguson the problem is they did it all and anyone that came after them were just imitation
Try a show on UA-cam called, I Married Joan, similar comedy to Lucy...
This is my favorite. I watch with every other day. Even the lines i know it by heart.
This is a dream come true. I was (and am) a HUGE Carol and Lucy fan. Wow! I can't believe I missed this when I was younger. I watched both of them religiously!
Me too , when ever Lucy was on ,I was there at the TV and same for Carol. I know I was in for a good laugh for with either one of these fine ladies.

Both of my favorite.💞💖

they should have had a weekly sitcom together

America's best comedians: Beautiful, goofy, funny and intelligent!
This is magnificent! Thank you so much for uploading this wonderful sketch.
Cheers!
Lucy guest starred with Carol on her show and Carol did the same on for the Lucy Show. I never knew Lucy guest starred on Carol's show, thank goodness for yt

Oh how I wish I could tear a room apart like they did. It looks too fun.
Happy Birthday, Carol Burnett!
Carol dressed as the same character at the end of the last episode.
I'm so glad we had this time together...
The two queens of comedy
Still great in 2020
I love you Lucy.
Originally telecast on March 22, 1966.
Loved seeing Lucy and George Burns on The Lucy Show - she was 55 (looked beautiful) George was 70. Their skit together was similar to Burns and Allen skit, then they did a song and dance number together - one of my all time favorites.
The way Carol says "CHUTZPAH!" nearly made me piss myself
great. thank you for posting.
The two ultimate Queens of Comedy...
@cam11971 I bet you anything that Lucille Ball arranged for that picture to be there. A great tribute to their great friendship.
Look Whos Picture That Is On The Wall at 1:24 Thats VIVIAN VANCE! :)
The one person who disliked this was the big movie exec who had to clean that mess up
The real joke is that Lucy and Desi ran a production company so she REALLY knew how the company was run.
* thanks for uploading *
Even if I hadn't seen the Lucille Ball in the description I would have known who it was by the voice
I miss this type of entertainment...sigh
I Love Lucy, and I Crave Carol
I love them so much! AND my name is Emily and my mom's name is Evelyn. My life was just made when I saw this!
I can totally picture these two doing this stuff together at age 7. lol
i remember first seeing this specia lback in 1967 on my black n white tv after that up unitl1978 her farewell show i saw all her shows every week i first saw her in the old gary moore show

Yup. They did both have Chutzpah alright!
No 2 ways about it !
my 2 favorite redheads. yay" thanks for afmfm
Two great ladies together...should've happened more often.
Carol was pregnant with 2nd daughter Jody Hamilton then this was 2 days before she was born!
If she was in early stages this was good exercise then
they have made icons of their char lady characters. Not too long ago, someone tried to copy them and Carol sued them
I LOVE LUCY... LOL HAHA I mean Lucille Ball same person.
LAughs while wondering if any of us human beings will ever learn.
Your right
Just nine days before i was born!
Hi, I am participating in my towns anual lip sync and really wanted to preform chutzpah. Your video is the only one I can find. I was wondering if you would be willing to e-mail me a copy of the video?
Does anyone know who wrote this song?
carol burnett is pregnant here i think.....awesome, by the way!!!!!!!!
You're fired! What they did the last minute!
Is it me or is their delivery the slowest we've ever seen for either of them?
Isnt there a better quality video of this?
Probably not, unfortunately. You can tell it was recorded on VHS. VHS resolution is about 1/16 that of DVD. Unless this special gets released on DVD or Blu Ray, a better quality version won't be available.
It WAS released on DVD, in May 2016.
This Carol + 2 is on Amazon if anyone is interested. Great quality. I loved the other sketch on this also.
Oh brother
Lol they can't afford Cary Grant where's the money comin' from lol
Originally Desi and Lucy wanted Cary Grant to be the angel in Forever Darling - but he wanted too much money
Lol I spent it on those shoes hahahahahaha
Peep Vivian Vance in the background
Lol the word Chutzpah is funny despite the fact it means something not in Jibberish!
Lucille Ball was fine for stuff like this, but she should in no way have tried to carry an entire musical.
I don't agree. @@dmnemaine I saw the film and really enjoyed it. However do have a bias - I have loved Lucy since 1951 when I first saw her on tv in I Love Lucy.
What's a Chutzpah?
Cheek!
Funny!
