This era in tv we will likely never see again. This was back when everybody watched the same shows regardless of race, politics, age etc. and they got 30 to 40 million viewers a week! Carol Burnett, late night talk shows like Carson, Letterman, Leno, Arsenio etc. Great sitcoms, sketch comedy shows and dramas. They were at the golden ages in the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s.

This was the most beautiful, sincere finale to a show that I've ever seen...or could ever imagine. Its hard not to get choked up watching it. How she got through singing her sign-off song without breaking down I'll never know. Its good to know she's still going strong.

I think that was probably one the saddest moments in the history of TV and in the country. EVERYBODY loved Carol Burnett and watched that show. Those of us that were blessed to be old enough to remember it can still quote so many funny lines or imitate some of the characters from the show. There will never - ever - be anything like it on TV again. The timing was just perfect for that show and gave an uplift during a really crappy period in history. Hard to believe that's it been nearly 40 years since it went off the air. Where did the time go?

So I'm a 42 year old African American man now. At the time this aired I was 9 years old. I Can't Tell You How Much I LOVED this woman and in some ways mother.
I felt to close to her. It's so good to see this footage again!
    My heart just melted!

Hi Carol and crew...it's obvious that peoples lives were enhanced by simply watching your show. It certainly was a staple in my home growing up and it's amazing how I can be transported back in love, light and laughter...when experiencing this farewell once again, so many decades later. Today, the year is 2024, and just know that The Carol Burnett Show and ALL of it's members, hold a very special place in my heart. Thankyou. Bless ❤

May I add a caveate to all these heartfelt sentiments. As the son of Harvey Korman let me just say this shows legacy cannot be measured by rating points/or Emmy's nom or wealth or status but from the relationships cultivated by the show for all of those who were apart of it from both sides of the camera. If you really want to come to appreciate the legacy of the show read Wesley Hyatts book its a literary masterpiece.Wesley dedicated 3 in half years of his life to this book. The greatest day in the history of the Korman family is the day Carol threw my father over the hood of that car in The CBS parking lot I have Carol and Joe to thank because most of the blessings in my life came from my dads 10 years on this show and I could never repay Carol and Joe for that.

As the son of Harvey Korman I assume that you don't need a stranger to tell you how phenomenal your father truly was, but I'll do it anyway. Harvey Korman was the rarest of performers who was equally adept at playing the straight man, and doing it better than anyone. His talent also allowed him to be wildly funny in his assorted character roles. Blazing Saddles and History Of The World, two of my favorite movies, showcased your dad's virtuosity and demonstrated how talented he truly was. Harvey Korman will always be appreciated by fans of great comedy and he is missed by the millions who enjoyed his talent.

I'm 15. I've only been watching Carol Burnett for a couple of years and I've never seen a better show then this. I wish I was there from the beginning and I would really love to meet her. Watching this made me sad that it ended and I'm crying. I wish there were shows like this today and bring back some old ones. I know not a lot of people my age like this stuff but I'm that girl in school who listens to all the oldies between classes and watches the shows like the Carol Burnett Show and I love Lucy and Marshal Dillion but they won't know what it is. There's nothing wrong with that but I just miss all of this. Carol Burnett will always make me laugh and I'll never forget her. Her birthday is coming in April and she'll be 83 but she is still as good and I hope she is very happy😘😘😭❤️

Such a breaking of the "4th wall", for the time. Yes, this was a goodbye - but I remember how multiplied the moments felt with the choice of a naked stage for the last 5 minutes of the show. After over a decade of watching the show, this ending had such a stark impact via the setting of the actual stage revealed. *CBS Stage 33* , in a pre-internet era, that all of us at home never had an inkling of what the live audience saw. These kind of literal "peeks behind the curtain" were extremely rare on network television. In watching this, it's amazing to think that just behind those stage walls were all the Price Is Right games... the big wheel... Plinko... etc. Plus Match Game and The Red Skelton Show, at the time. Many game shows were to come later in the 80's, to Stage 33. That very stage and seats you see in this clip is where EVERY Price Is Right show was done (even up until today)... in fact, CBS Stage 33 was officially renamed in 1988 to *The Bob Barker Studio* after the 5000th episode of TPIR. Today, *Real Time With Bill Maher* (HBO) is shot weekly on that same stage... and of course, The Price Is Right.

NI was born in 1962so I was 5-16yrs old when Carol had her show. When it was time to watch Per our entire family gathered around the TV in my childhood living room and each time we laugh we would look at each other sees each other with joy in the show,I got the joke it was a good experience that I had with my family watching her. When she sang this song at the end and said you have time for things you have to do with it you do you have to leave your dream but the best time of all Quizlet I’m sitting here with you and for me that means my family and my mom and dad are now long gone Bacon I don’t have to close my eyes to remember what it was like to have my parents and my siblings all huddled together in the house it is that we no longer own that will never be duplicated it was it’s a memory it’s a wonderful memory care of felt like if a family member she was at our home for an hour every week and you feel like you got to know her she was real genuine and she was kind. I feel like God has allowed her to live so long because this world needs her she helps us to be happier a kiteLaugh ordered things don’t go well and not to be buried in agony but to laugh at it is part of life and it just moving on it’s a great way to deal with pain. A joke when someone makes you laugh the complexion of your day can completely change and you can start the whole day over there when you give the gift of laughter your loving someone.

The Cleaning Lady character was ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT and oh so endearing. She was humble, her duties; moping, sweeping, etc. weren't glamorous nor high paying, yet watching her performing such tasks with a great broad smile, is how she swept her way into our hearts. I know this was all done by strategic design (and it worked BEAUTIFULLY of course). And I also think women related to her because she was '"every woman" and men loved her because she had a maternal streak to her. She reminds many of us whose wives, sisters, mothers, grandmothers or aunties were indeed cleaning ladies themselves, and as meek as the job itself maybe...it is an HONEST job.

Carol had, and still to this very day has a very kind, warm heart. The show came on with style, and it went off with style. Did anyone notice Jim Nabors among those walking off stage at the beginning? Nabors appeared on the first show of every season as Carol's "good luck" charm. You'll see him here again..on the very last show...walking off at the :37 second mark (grey jacket/blue shirt). This series finale, in my opinion, is one of the best -- and most moving emotionally -- in television history. Very sad.

I'm fully comfortable in my manhood when I say that I lose it when she starts singing and her voice starts to crack. T.V. just isn't the same without her on it!

I remember watching it to, I was about twelve, in fact we never missed it, I had to be in on Saturday night when the street lights came on, that was my que to come in to the house to get my bath, and then we would watch Carol Burnet. This show makes me feel very good, and that I recall my mother and father who are now gone. BTW, this show aired two days before my fathers 50Th. Birthday which was March 31st. ! The Mary Tyler Moore show also ended in 78" as well, that was a big good by to.

THE way to sign off a successful TV show after a long run. Leave nothing hanging, and be honest and truthful with your audience about your decision to end the series.
Carol and Crew got it right, right here! Much eternal respect and love to all of those talented people, be they living or passed on.

(RIP) LYLE WAGGONER, HARVEY KORMAN & THE LATE TIM CONWAY. THIS IS TRUE TV HISTORY & VERY SAD TO WATCH. BUT MS. BURNETT WENT OUT MORE OR LESS ON TOP. WE WILL NEVER SEE A TV VARIETY SHOW LIKE THIS AGAIN. MOST OF THE PAST TV GREATS HAVE ALL PASSED ON NOW, SHE TRULY QUIT AT THE RIGHT TIME FOR HER. I WISH HER WELL IN HER ELDERLY YEARS.

The Carol Burnette show was the last of the great comedy/variety shows that were created along the lines of the "Dean Martin Show" and "Laugh In". When Carol gave this last farewell monologue it was truly the end of an era. There will never be or ever can be a show like this again. It was an experience.

In watching this, it shows how smart people know when to end. Carol Burnett wasn't the only person who called it a day at the top. Look at Mary Tyler Moore, Dick Van Dyke, Bob Newhart, even Gleason with the "Honeymooners" 39. That's why we love them still today.

My father was gone from the show for a year so when he went back to walk through it was hard for him.It was emotional for him to do that and he did it for Carol.I cry when I watch this. This was a seminal moment in the lives of alot of people on both sides of the camera.I would say that the ratings and emmy awards dont' truly measure what this show meant to alot of people especially coming out of Watergate and the Vietnam war. This show was a beacon of light to many and for me that is the legacy of this show.

I literally just bawled my eyes out watching this. I am 18 years old and have loved Carol for years. I feel connected to her and to her television family. This just made me cry, but at the same time, I know she went on to a fabulous career in films, on the stage, and as an author and playwright... and I'm so glad she's still around. What an incredible talent, and such a good-hearted, kind and generous woman. I love you, Carol.

I don't care what anyone says. I may never be in the acting or film business but from what I've seen and what I know...
11 years worth of shows.. Everyone making it happen is family. Carol Burnett Show, M*A*S*H, and The Golden Girls are all examples of shows where everyone was family. Heck even the cast and crew of Harry Potter seem like a family now. TV has it's perks now day along with movies but... shows like The Carol Burnett Show were the best, ever.

I am so glad her grannie would take her to the theatre and was exposed to the different talents so she could dream of maybe having her own show one day! God blessed us by letting the little girls dreams come true and for all of us to enjoy such wonderful talents for those wonderful 11 years! Thank you Carol and all who were not just in front (Tim, Harvey, Wagner, Vicki) but everyone behind the scenes! Thank you Bob Mackie for all the awesome wardrobe!! You are a treasure Carol!! Never will there be anything like your show again!! Unfortunately those days have passed. So glad I can watch the re-runs!! Mama's Family was awesome!! I just watched the episode with the elephant story and no matter how many times I watch it, I still roll over laughing!! Pure talent!!

I have to admit... I cried when she sang that song one last time... and trying to fight back tears. I loved watching this show through VCR tapes my Dad had. I'll never forget the hilarious moments and skits she done. I loved the one where her and Lucille Ball went into Care Argentine and it was really ran by WWII German folks and the one where Carol tried to wash her clothes and she got punched by an erratic washing machine that grows height and throws clothes back at her. Tim Conway was a hilarious man and extremely funny alongside Burnett and he'll be severely missed by the many fans of his across the world. Rest in Peace, Conway. Your role as Barnacle Boy will forever be cherished and missed.

So fortunate to have grown up with the Carol Burnett show. Just the other day I viewed a episode on dvd from Here's Lucy with a very young Carol Burnett. There you have it, 2 queen of comedys Lucille Ball and Carol Burnett.
