man, I used to absolutely love the diff lock videos. it seems as though sponsors took over. It was all about affordable off-road, and sharing with friends. Now it's all about new products this, new that.
Loving these difflock episodes. The kid has a great personality!
Seeing as I also bought a Jeep in November this is exactly what I need to be watching.
What an improvement! I especially like the two-door model of the Wrangler.
Very useful DIY video to install a winch on a Jeep.
great job Thomas in doing these videos. they remind me of the times I used to spend in there garage with my dad. i hope to do the same like you do with Roman one day.
your hosting is excellent.
Roman: Why are the bumpers better?
Bestop: Um because we do everything everyone else does
Great insight
I was thinking the same thing. The guy from Bestop did not attend too many oration or English classes...
You actually can add a winch to the stock front bumper. There are many winch plate options for it, though I do agree that the stock front bumper is not ideal.
The winch though... I have the same winch, and holy crap is it amazing. The amount of control it gives is crazy. Being able to disconnect and reconnect the clutch from a wireless remote and not go back and forth to the winch... just awesome. Hoping mine lasts me forever.
Great video I loved watching you guys turn some wrenches. Cool bumpers and cool son and dad time. Would love to see more videos like this. Great job.
Awesome episode! These "how to" are great!
Great video. Looking forward to possibly seeing that winch in action!
love these videos, shit i am late for work because of you guys..
Looks Great! I would've swapped the old halogen fogs out for modern LED's, improves night time driving so it's big safety addition.
First things first, you CAN put a winch on the stock bumper.
torque stick wrench! you will over torque the lugs and they may snap when you take them off.
Just make all new channel, Fast Lane Jeep. Great video
put a cool exhaust on. like those off road magnaflows that hide up in the jeep for more clearance. I like how they sound.
This is so cool, hope I get a bumper for mine soon
Looks great!
Great content!!
Love the jeep videos, keep it coming!
Nice video, certainly less expensive options on bumpers and winches. But nicely done. However, lug nuts should really be torqued.. so should the bumper nuts..
Tommy can you do a "day in the life" of owning and driving a 2-door jk wrangler now that you have done your off-road modifications? Many people buy the 4-door for its extra conveniences, but the 2-door is so classic. It would be great to see what your thoughts are day to day now that we've seen how capable the Jeep sport is off-road.
I have a 2015 Rubicon 2 door that is my daily driver. Basic thing is you need to pick cargo carrying or people. With the back seat in, there is very little space. The seat folds but does not lock so when folded it flops around. When in place, the back seat is reasonably roomy, though getting back there is a bit of a challenge. The BFG MTs make some nose on the highway but it is completely manageable, especially with a hard top. I wish the gas tank were bigger though. I'm happy with the mileage (around 18 overall, mostly highway) and don't expect better from something like this but the tank size means I buy gas twice during the week commuting to work.
Exactly. The JKU is very practical, can carry 5 adults + cargo/dogs. With a 2dr JK, I'd get a hitch extender and put some items that can be exposed to the outside... outside. The 2dr JK's are more nimble, but at this stage of my life it's JKU for me. I love them all, though, and drive the JK Rubicon's from Barlowe's when out in Sedona AZ, and they are amazing offroad and onroad.
I'd look for a set of take off springs and shocks from a 4 door Rubicon.
I think it might be time to invest in some pneumatic tools and air compressor. Also never stop on the tire iron because it could cause injury if it slips. Keep up the good work.
Wow Tommy, I have to admit that each time I see you pick up a wrench I find myself automatically saying "please God , don't let him kill himself in this video ".
Love the wah-wah "porn" style music. Very apropos considering this entire video was basically Jeep Porn. Lol! :D
Wow...nice job.
Did he say 8200 lbs extra on the front with that bumper and wench?? That sounds like way too much.
he was probably talking about the whinch capability, he's a noob lol
i think he said 80 TO 100 lbs.
I think he meant 820lbs
+Derek Denney Yeah he said 80 TO 100 pounds
He would not be able to pick it up not even with 10 guys! hehehe i think he meant 820 lbs and still just picking it up between him and the other guy its impossible.
This kid is great! Love the install, replace the foreign guy with the kid!
good job...i like it
Great tutorial video I'm just wondering when you installed your front bumper did you have to relocate your vacuum pump?
Time for new fenders to match the new bumpers
You have a nice Son there. The Jeep is nice to. Thanks for sharing. Was the rear tow hook deleted?
Yes, the rear tow hook is gone. Instead we need to get some D rings that fit the new bumper for pulling.
looks good but I've never been a fan of best top products. especially that rear bumper no cutouts for integrated off-road lights. you should have lost those front Factory fog lights and upgraded them. and you put that winch on and you will be drawing more power you need to upgrade that battery. or go to a dual-battery setup
Do a Grille guard installation on a Subaru forester, i really need one for mine.
Need a Factor55 winch thimble for the safest winching possible.
I would do sliders before bumpers. Just because bumpers can always be replaced. Not easy with rockers
Agreed, but he mentioned solo 4x4 outings, so he may need the winch to get himself unstuck.
Chip Mautz True
So about $500 for the front bumper, $850 for the rear and $1750 for the winch, plus tax and shipping cost. Starting to not feel like a budget off roading show anymore.
If you can't afford the game, don't play!🙄
+XL1200C2004 it's not the affording part that's the problem, it's that it was better to me when it was the old 95 YJ and he was putting $50 light bars on and keeping the rig simple. If he keeps putting a bunch of tough heavy parts then it'll wind up being like every other jeep show, with an overbuilt JK.
+Cobb you'll notice he was just talking about "essential" equipment for solo off-roading. Sorry, $50 accessories won't cut it anymore.
Well yeah you need a winch and a bumper to mount it on, but there are options for $200-300 and obviously cheaper winches with the same rating. This show started as a budget off road show and I hope it stays in that direction. There's enough channels about full $20k builds for JKs.
That Winch is way overkill for a 2dr Sport. He'd have been more than fine with a $600 VR8. He's only using that expensive one because he got it for free from WARN.
Don't forget the Sliders
Excelente
Does the jeep wrangler has washers underneath the screws?
I like the foot torquing of the wheels. Don't worry. She's tight.
“Ghost Towns” there’s the new series name. Spin off from “DiffLock”??
This was a how to? or was it a look we did it.
do you plan on adding a 2.5" lift?
How heavy was the front bumper? He said eighty two hundred? I don't think that was 8,200 pounds lol!
80 to 100 lbs
Ah I see lol thanks I heard it the other way
I heard that too!
Dude I would get some new 7 inch floods, don't mess around with factory's
your dad? OK, like father like son, but you are way cooler than your dad (he's a cool guy, but I like your style after watching the Jeep Safari video from before!)
Hey TFL Car what happened to "Project Porsche ?
They weren't getting the views so they stopped doing them.
How much did that bumper cost?
Please never step/jump on wrench to tighten lug nuts!! This will over torque them, just use your hands and apply best pressure you can.
I miss the YJ. What happened to Alex and Matt
Wait so you put gloves on before you use the remote but not needed for the overall install? Hmmmm odd ;-)
Always pays to be safe when winching ;-)
Oh and torque wrench for the wheel nuts - not the best of ideas using the stand-on-wrench technique.
Disappointed that it got away from budget 4wheeling.
Think about how much quicker this would have gone if you had already reached puberty.
Where is Nathan?

Another freakin ad. I give up on you guys.
Hello, what is the colour on the bumpers ?
+Okanaganfishing black
Satin or mate black ?
+Okanaganfishing same thing
Wouldn't Cheap Jeep stuff be on T F L Truck instead....
Save T F L car for cars/compact SUVs?
Just Sayin'!!
As others have said 8200 lbs sounds like way too much for that front bumper... that is more than the jeep weighs lol.
Look to me like yall need to invest in a breaker bar
I was going to say- Breaker Bar + *6-point* deep-well socket is the best way to get the lugs mostly tight and loosened. Use a Torque Wrench for final tightening. After I get the lug nuts loosened, I use an electric drill-driver to buzz them off, then on again. Saves all that spinning with a wrench or fingers. ;)
Road armor is better
wait, Roman is dad? cool :D
Well, according to Mrs Roman he is, if you know what I mean⁉️😜😜😜
8200 lbs???
Y'all should put a lift and bigger tires on
I saw the lug nut tightening and realized, WTF!! His ratchet handling skill was already suspect. This person shouldn't instruct or give advice to anyone.
Yes, that wheel install is very dangerous! It's all fun and games until a subcriber's wheel falls off...on or off road.
Liability anyone?
I'm sure he's all read up on that $$ WARN winch though.
First time viewer, last time viewer.
Umm, been doing that since HS, and haven't had a wheel fall off. However, I have experienced extremely loose lug nuts after visiting a national tire store. Tire stores, btw, don't use torque wrenches, they use air ratchets. And overtorque all the time. Everyone's a critic...
While do enjoy the vids wasn't the whole idea here suppose to be about affordable off-road fun ? You had a yj and that's a perfect example of a cheap yet fun offroad rig and you did cheap mods like the $40 light bar. Now you have a brand new jeep and your installing things like a $1700 winch. I'm confused why it's no longer budget friendly ??
The old video series of affordable off-road had run its course. We have pivoted now to more of a focus on ghost town adventures!
Ran its corse ? You seemed to just have switched suddenly from a yj to a brand new jk. If you wanna hit a bunch of ghost towns that's fine but I think u should bring back the old yj. I would guess if it wasn't for your dad not many kids your age would be driving a jk. At the very least you should bring back your friends with there rigs to join you. You had a series that was relatable and affordable and suddenly switched to something that's not really affordable for the every day guy. Kinda disappointed this turned into something completely different from what it started as.
What happens when you have to take the lug nuts off when you get a flat tire off-roading and you have to swap a wheel
You need some air tools.
His Right putting a Plastic Bumper on a Jeep is Straight Bullshit on all and Any level.
Tommy that's a shit winch cable routing install
Bolt ons are boring.
Stop messing around take the engine out of the car next to it and put it in the jeep.....
Looks great!
