I am new to the jeep community and really appreciate the effort you put into these videos. It really makes a difference and helps me better understand the ins and outs of the potential one has when modifying their rig.
I have been looking at front bumpers for weeks and I cannot find one that I like. This is the perfect solution! All about the stripped down / utilitarian look. I’m also the guy that deleted both fenders on his motorcycle. This is perfect for what I’ve had in mind. Thank you Eddie!! Your channel is great!!! Many thanks from Washington State.
Looked high a low for an LOD plate but everyone was back ordered about 6 weeks it seems so I ended up looking and got the rugged ridge 10a plate, has kind of a built in fascia behind the winch, added a poison spider Fairlead mount with factor 55 Fairlead. Not a bad look at all. EVO front d ring mounts of course.
This is exactly what I’ve been trying to flesh out for my JL. Thank you for putting this on video. This is how I’m going to mount my winch and call it the “bumpinch”. 👍🏼
I like it! It looks like ALL BUSINESS and no fluff. Just like a real wheeling rig should! The red shackles add the right amount of pop to the front end! Yea, looks great!
Love it. Revisit when you get that disconnect reclocked. The idea of a minimalist Jeep is a great idea for a build. Especially on a rubicon. Where the factory is almost good enough. I like smaller lifts too and 35’s
Just ordered my first wrangler. Jlu rubicon sarge green with the xtreme recon package. I was searching around for a minimalist style bumper with a winch plate. This fits the bill! I dig it a lot nice job!
i just put a smittybilt XRC gen 2 on the front of my new JL, also have the zeon 10s (worth every penny) and had to clearance the upper inside frame tabs as the winch was making contact with it and you couldn't bolt it down. that minimalist look does indeed look better than i expected.
I tell you what Eddie, i like it man, i really do. If i was going to be a hard core rock crawler like you Bro, i would differently look into a bumper like this one. Also good taste. Looks Clean i think. Awesomeness. Great Video you guys.
I like the basic, minimalist look. It goes back to the way Jeeps used to be - no frills, simple, rugged, get the job done. I see a lot of clown car Jeeps running around now that look like an aftermarket catalog threw up all over em. The majority won’t see a dirt parking lot.
Haha I like your comments at the end. It's not my style personally. I like the more finished look of a good bumper. But I can understand the function and versatility of it. Great video 👍
Looks great but question. If there’s an accident will your insurance company ding you (reduce their liability) for not having a bumper if you ruin the suspension and other things a bumper would protect you from? Curious.
It's still kind of a bumper and the frame rails still have crush zones. Not sure how a plastic bumper would protect things like the suspension on your Jeep.
When you stated what you where doing I thought to myself he is out of his mind. I also dont like stubby bumpers. But I love that set up and it looks really clean.
Thanks for showing another option. Probably more suited for hard core crawling or people on a tight budget. I think I'll keep my Poison Spyder Bruiser. Nicely done as usual. OlllllllO
I searched the comments, but couldn’t find if you gave the info for the bolt, sleeve and jam nut You used... are you able to give the specifics on it to rotate up the disconnect?
Absolutely Love this look! I have searched high and low but cant seem to find the equivalent winch plate for the JK. can some one chime in and point me in the right direction?? or can this winch plate be easily modified to fit JK frame rails?
Hey just wondering where did you get the brush guard with mounting brackets that allow you to set up your shackle mounts too. I am speaking about the white jeep you showed a picture of it for a second with the same set up but brushguard added. What is the name of that mounting type I can't find it anywhere 😅
I was made by a company that no longer exists. What you see in this video is about as close as you can get to it. If you really want to add a brush guard, this is something you should consider instead evomfg.com/products/quarter-pounder-mid-hoop-with-light-tabs-for-jk-jl-jt?aff=2
Absolutely GENIUS! I love it. Love utilitarian aspect, looks great and easy on the budget...just need winch plate and winch! Question, what do you do with the plug on the frame rail for the fog lights since nothing will be plugged into it? Best Jeep channel on UA-cam. Thanks.
Haha idk if I was the only one waiting for your guys puppy cameo in the end but either way great video best Jeep channel on the UA-cam ...any ideas on a yj in the future just to round out the collection
Glad you enjoyed it. As far as YJ's go, I keep an eye out for one all the time but most people want way too much for what they've got. If one comes up that's more reasonably priced, we'll most likely bring it home.
Do you know if you have to switch to a Currie Antirok front sway bar when installing the ULTRA Clearance Stubby Front Bumper for the Jeep JL & Gladiator JT - Aluminum? On the website it says you have to, but I am wondering if you don't have to if you Flip the Sway Bar Disconnect?
One more thing, what impact wrench would you recommend if I was to buy just one? Milwaukee 1/2" stubby wrench or do you find the 3/8" ratchet more useful? Thanks.
I like the relocation bolt you used for the sway bar disconnect, I’m just curious if I can do the same for my JK? Great video definitely always something cool to learn.
Fair enough, but I have a feeling you are not positive about the look. I feel a new bumper in the near future. Thanks for the response and yes your Ruby looks great. OMB
We have done it with just 2" in the past and yes, you will have some rubbing up front and a LOT in the rear unless you do some trimming. In this video, we were running 3.5" of lift.
If you have a plastic front bumper, not much. If you have a steel bumper, it's measurable for sure. Like you, I run synth rope and it's a lot lighter too.
You will see a small amount of sag from the weight of the bumper but it may not be enough to matter to you. IF it is, you can always install a set of coil spacers to help bring you back up to where you were before.
some sort of end cap add on that you can get to protect the frame mounts might be a good accessory for warn to think about. I like the industrial look but those mounts look like they might take some shots.
What size is your Milwaukee impact wrench? 3/8" or 1/4"? pretty sure it isn't 1/2". Just looking for myself and you seem to use yours a lot. Seems to be a handy tool instead of twisting your wrist off. Thanks.
I am new to the jeep community and really appreciate the effort you put into these videos. It really makes a difference and helps me better understand the ins and outs of the potential one has when modifying their rig.
Awesome, we're so glad to hear we could be of help to you :)
Another great video. Thank you for not forgetting us penny pinchers.
You bet! That's where we came from and in a lot of ways, where we still are :)

@@wayalife Definitely my favorite channel on UA-cam!
I like it enough that I did it.. :) I’m a minimalist at heart and seeing this in person finally forced me to do it. Love it. Thanks Eddie and Cindy!
LOL! Awesome. If you don't mind me asking, which winch plate did you end up using?

Thanks Eddie,in every single video we learn something different. Thank you for sharing .
Awesome! So glad to hear it :)
If it had provisions for the factory fogs, I would absolutely do this. Great lean look.
My thought exactly
You could make mounts for the foglights and put them in place of where he put those spacers behind the D-ring mounts.
Big fan of the minimalistic bumper look front and rear. All the approach/departure angle.
Awesome! Glad you like our solution :)
These videos are so well put together, hands down one of the best jeep youtube shows
Thank you. We're so glad to hear you've been enjoying our videos :)
I really like the simple basic look with only the essentials equipment needed in addition it saves a lot of weight.
I really like that! Love the simple look and functionality. I feel like this will happen to my JLUR soon!
Awesome, so glad we could share this with you :)
I like it! It looks like ALL BUSINESS and no fluff. Just like a real wheeling rig should!
The red shackles add the right amount of pop to the front end! Yea, looks great!
LOL - Definitely all business and no fluff. I think that's what I like most about it :)
At first I was thinking nope...but after you added the red D rings it added some needed color and it started to grow on me. Well done as usual.
LOL - funny how a little color can change things :)
Looks good Eddie. Nice and simple. Thr way it should be.
Thanks! I kinda think so too :)
I like it, nice and basic which i think a lot of jeep owners are no longer doing.
Agreed. I like the basic look and maybe because of all the gaudy stuff people are installing today.
Couldn't agree more
I like it a lot!! Better than a lot of the other crazy bumpers and stingers I’ve seen!!
Thanks! Nice and simple :)
Really like it Eddie, if I can ever get back into a Jeep JL I’m definitely copying this idea. Very clean and not a over the top mall crawler look.
Cool - glad you like what you see :)
Yet another clean install Eddie! Very utilitarian.
Glad you like what you see :)
I like it a lot, especially with the red D rings. Good job and great video!
Awesome, thank you :)
Dude if I was rich id have you build me a jeep. Your like a certified jeep tech! Awesome videos!
LOL - you're too kind but I'm just an old guy who likes working on Jeeps :)
I dig it man.. not sure I would go that route myself but I definitely like it.

Just got my jl will be watching you vids to help decide what to do

Love your videos sir. Some of the best how to videos on the internet.
Why thank you, we really do appreciate it and we're glad to hear they've been helpful to you :)
Love this look! Really shows of that sweet grill!
Glad you like it!
Okay, that actually looks better than I thought it was going to.
LOL - surprisingly, not too bad :)
I love the simple look of the bumper!
It really looks pretty nice :)

Just the essentials. It's how Jeeps used to be :)
I like it. I think it really looks great! Like you said it will provide all of the utilities you need.
Yeah, I wasn't too sure about it at first but having run this setup for a while now, I really like it :)
A bit to utilitarian for me, but looks better than I expected. Certainly the Warn winch helps! .....is there any other winch!
Awesome idea! I could even see adding on to the winch plate as a base for a stubby bumper if you wanted to.
Thank you for posting the parts list ❤
You're so welcome!
Great video my good sr. Greetings from San Francisco Ca.
Thank you

I think that looks super slick. Great vid!

Hi, excelent video... Would it work on a 2020 Jeep Gladiator Sport? Thanks
Yup, it sure will.
I like the look. Sometimes, simple is better.

The JL already has a terrible crash rating though, so you're really not lessening it.
Awesome video!! Any idea where I can by the bolt to rotate the electronics for the sway bar? I also have a Rubicon and I want to rotate it.
Nice idea and I like it on your Jeep.
Thanks! 👍
I think it looks awesome. Simple and rugged, as a jeep should be.
Simple and rugged is what we like too :)

Light weight ‘bumper’, there is enough weight somewhere else. Nice clean look! 🇳🇱❤️🇺🇸✌️

Been waiting for this video to drop, love it and using the idea Eddie! Looks bad ass. Minimalist. Awesome.
Hey George, sorry it took so long to get posted up. By the way, it was good seeing you and your son yet again in Moab :)
Awesome video Eddie ! I am in love with your shop!! Shhh. Don’t tell Cindy. 🐞IIII🐞

Oh yeah, clearly not for everyone and I would never suggest as much. Just an alternative for people to consider especially if they're on a budget.
I like it low profile. looks good. have any suggestions for the rear bumper, but with added protection?
Hey Eddie, I think it would be better on a 2dr. But, like you said, see if it grows on you. Great video work Cindy as always. OlllllllO. God bless
Can't really tell if it's a 2-door or a 4-door when you look at it head on :)
Yes, thank you from the budget community
Glad you liked it :)
I actually like it! Can the same set up be done on the JTR?
Yes :)
Thumbs up on the rugged look.
Thanks! Glad you like what you see. :)
Love the way it looks.
Me too - I'm starting to like it a lot :)
Looks great outside with natural light
Functions well outside too :)

I searched the comments, but couldn’t find if you gave the info for the bolt, sleeve and jam nut You used... are you able to give the specifics on it to rotate up the disconnect?
There are kits that you can find online that cost about the same as buying the hardware. I would recommend just buying one of them.
Nice access for the tires on the rocks..
Oh yeah, wide open access :)
Definitely a good look!
Thank you.
Absolutely Love this look! I have searched high and low but cant seem to find the equivalent winch plate for the JK. can some one chime in and point me in the right direction?? or can this winch plate be easily modified to fit JK frame rails?

Hi. After much testing. Do you think the Warn winch plate is the better option for the stock Rubicon steel bumper? Appreciate your advice. Steve. 🇦🇺
"better"? Better than what? I think it's a great option but I think the Mopar one would work just as well.
I like the relocation bolt you used for the sway bar disconnect, I’m just curious if I can do the same for my JK? Great video definitely always something cool to learn.
Absolutely! We originally did this on all our JK. That's where I got the idea from :)
Change is good sometimes. I understand the winch but not the fake stubby, What is next TJ axle? Still enjoyed the video. OMB
LOL - not sure how it can be a fake anything being that it's just a winch plate.
Fair enough, but I have a feeling you are not positive about the look. I feel a new bumper in the near future. Thanks for the response and yes your Ruby looks great. OMB
Do you know if that winch plate is available for a JK 2016 ? It looks awesome,.
Sorry, you will need a different winch plate.
@@wayalife :(
I love the look! Any ideas if it will work with a X2O winch? I already own one and would love to be able to use it if possible.
Should work with any standard winch.
Where did you get those D Ring mounts? I have a Gladiator JT, should be the same as the JL mount
You can't get the exact same ones as what we have anymore but EVO makes some that are similar.
I can see the appeal. But as you said not for everyone. Another great video as always
Oh, I would never suggest it was for everyone. Just a nice solution for someone working on a budget.
Are you running 37 inch tires with 2 inch lift on your JL? If so, any rub or issues with regearing?
We have done it with just 2" in the past and yes, you will have some rubbing up front and a LOT in the rear unless you do some trimming. In this video, we were running 3.5" of lift.
Hey buddy love the videos what rims are you using on the Jeep looks great
KMC XD231 😎
I actually like the minimalistic look.
It's the way Jeeps used to come back in the day :)
How much weight did u save ,that part would be nice, I switched to syn. rope to also save weight
If you have a plastic front bumper, not much. If you have a steel bumper, it's measurable for sure. Like you, I run synth rope and it's a lot lighter too.
Very nice job!👍👍
Thank you :)
I have a stock Willy’s wrangler sport… do I need a lift if I’m going to run a 90 pound bumper ?
You will see a small amount of sag from the weight of the bumper but it may not be enough to matter to you. IF it is, you can always install a set of coil spacers to help bring you back up to where you were before.
Are you happy with the JL platform now that you have some experience with it? Do you think a stock JL is reliable platform for daily driving?
Oh yeah, had ours for over a year now and have 30k on the odometer. The JL is a great platform.
I'm a simple man, I see a doggo, I hit that like button.
LOL - awesome :)
Good video and even better to have options if I want save some $$
Well, that was the point of this video, to help others help themselves and with more affordable options.
some sort of end cap add on that you can get to protect the frame mounts might be a good accessory for warn to think about.
Thanks.

How did the Coopers STT Pro tires hold up? Would you recommend them for a daily driver/trail rig?
They hold up great and perform even better on the rocks. Yes, I would definitely recommend them for a daily driver.
