For the past few months, I have been looking everywhere for Ito Kosho in the green. It is sold out in every online shop I checked in North America as well as Europe. But as you showed the yarn display in Trendy or Whatnot there it was!! I couldn’t believe it! I immediately went online and bought what was left. I have been obsessed with wanting to make the Garden Cardigan by Ankestrick in the original yarn used for the pattern and in that amazing green color. So thank you so much! You truly brought that yarn right to me with your podcast!! I am also on a mission to make more cardigans - I’ve named this the ‘ year of the cardigans’. Thank you so much for this yarny miracle and for your all your inspiration. Your podcast is a favourite.

😍😍😍 Your Fletching is just soooo good Leanne!! And I adore your Treysta. I attempted to make a Treysta steeked cardigan a few years ago but sadly it ended up too small so it went off to a good home. It was nearly the same colours as yours (great minds 🤗). Your niece's cardigan is darling. Kids knits are so quick and fun. You are a better spouse than I as I love John, but there's no way in heck I'd knit him anything in pure black 🤣 Glad Dave chose a different yarn--it's knitting up beautifully. I've been meaning to make myself a Musselburgh hat as well. Thanks for the inspiration as always 🤗💕

Love love the Fletching. Nice fit on you and lovely knit. I adore the Balaclava. I think it is a simple fix ( the head piece/ neck piece looks like good sizing. )I made these for our soldiers during Iraq war. So in the pattern the stitches you pick up around the face I would scale back on. As well…. Take the face in 4 quadrants… 2 left /right of eyebrows… 2 left /right of chin…. Knit 2 together on every other row… Just for these 4 areas. think what Iam trying to convey … it tightens / gathers up nicely around your face vs. gapping. Just an idea. Your knitting is so so good… I would never attempt to teach… or EVER criticize. ( I hope I have not… just an idea I was wanting to pass along. )…. Have a great day. Love your podcasts… I look to see you next time. ❤️

Hi Cindy! I was determined to frog this balaclava to use the yarn again, but I think you are absolutely right about how to make it look better, and the step by step instructions how to pick up and make it tighter around the face are awesome! That is so incredible. How many do you think you made for the soldiers?!

Your finished and unfinished items are lovely! Thank you for sharing your work. Kudo's for showing an object you'll not wear and saying you'll unravel it. OM Goodness. It's like closing a book you're not enjoying. Last episode you talked about TheGither Cowl so I watched Amy's podcast and looked at the colours for the Scottish Wool Festival. My Gither would be based on the Wallace Tartan. After 2024, when I try to use up as much of my wool as possible, I will make thegither cowl. A great podcast, thanks for sharing. Cheers

The darker section of your tartan cowl would be considered the 'working or field' tartan. The everyday tartan that Scots would wear while doing their daily chores. It was typically a drab version of their dress tartan. I told you before how much I love your Fletching sweater, its absolutely gorgeous! I love the colours you chose for your other colour work yoke sweater (forgot the name) and that cowl, stunning!

Thank you for another episode, Leanne! You feel like such a friend to sit and knit with, even if I never met you! :) All the woollies are gorgeous as always (love both the bright Fletching and the moody Thegither cowl!), and your work life really sounds tough but rewarding at the same time...
"I need more cardigans in my life" - haha, don't we all?!! Lately, I've started to finally do something about this too, and I made a lovely Carbeth Cardigan by Kate Davies (probably my all-time favourite designer) and a heavily modified Akantus Cardigan by Skeindeer. Didn't modify the fit, though! If you ever need a moderately fitted "little cardi" with seamless(!) set-in sleeves that looks really put together, but will still be a cozy handmade item: I highly recommend both the Akantus and the Haust cardigan patterns by Skeindeer. They're steeked in various places and the construction may feel absolutely wild in the beginning, but the fit is just great and I reach for both of them every time I feel indecisive about what to wear.
Interesting observation with the metal needles gauge difference - I never knit on anything but metal, just upgraded from low quality aluminium needles to KnitPro Zings and HiyaHiyas and the occasional Chiaogoo a few years back. I've always been a tight knitter, but discovered my gauge gets even tighter if the tips are pointy. KnitPro Zing needles are a little on the blunt side and I get a 23st/10cm gauge on 3.75mm with them. Switch to Chiaogoo, and I suddenly get 24sts on 4.5mm! Will readily admit that I rarely do proper gauge swatches, partly because of this. I just play around with any new-to-me yarn in stockinette for a bit before starting a large garment to get a feel for the fabric.
Anyways, watching your episode has brought some much needed peace and positivity to my heart today. Knitting and travelling - two of my favourite things, it just never fails! I'm currently improvising tiny stuff - have knitted two funny little stuffed bunny rabbits after an old Arne&Carlos pattern to give to a friend's kids for Easter, and I'm figuring out something fun to dress them in (and use up scraps)!
At the same time, I'm working on a vintage jumper. Like, proper 1940s-pattern, comes-in-only-1-size, there's-only-one-pattern-photo-and-no-charts, good-luck-see-you-on-the-other-side vintage. It's got a bobbles&lace stitch pattern on it that looks a bit like upside-down fireworks bursting, and apparently it was pretty iconic back in the day. Keeping my fingers crossed it won't turn out awful, haha!
Hope you're doing well and your son is recovering quickly! Ouch...!
    Thanks again, "see" you around!

    • @theknittystew
      @theknittystew  3 місяці тому

Thank you for the Skeindeer recommendations! Straight in the favourites they go! I’m in awe of your bravery tackling the 1940s pattern ❤️‍🔥 Awesome! Thank you so much for watching and your message.

Hallo Leanne, greetings from Germany! I love your podcast and all the places you take us with. Just rewatched the last episode for the cardigan content, as I too need more cardigans in my life. I just knitted the Gärdesgård Cardigan and my next one will be the Sera Cardigan by Manmi Choi in a summery yarn. The Cocktail Cardi you mentioned made it on my list, as it has it all - a contiguous shoulder and a button band that is knitted along with the body. Thanks for the suggestion! Leanne, thank you so much for allowing me to laugh along with you re: the cowl and reference -- I just ripped back half a sweater due to much larger gauge and realize I'm not the only one. I switched to metal needles years ago to "knit faster" but found out recently this accounts for some of my larger gauge too. Your spring green sweater is lovely! (Calgary)

    • @theknittystew

Love your springy Fletching and that super cute kid’s cardi! This is the time when I gravitate to the bright colours. Winter isn’t quite finished with us as I’m watching your podcast here in Grande Prairie. ❄️ My scenery is brown and white, so bright green and pink are pretty welcome! I will be knitting motifs for blankets for Christmas this summer and I’ll sew them together after the heat has gone. I usually have a shawl, some socks, a sweater and a hat on the go and summer is no exception. I’m working with wool anytime. 😊 I will admit to sticking with socks in extreme heat though. I’m also working on my second Musselburgh! I’m using Crux Fibres BFL, which I love. Thanks for another lovely podcast! ❤

When I knit my Musselburgh hats, I always use two colors because it’s a reversible hat and you can pick and choose what color you want to wear and it looks really cool when you flip it up and you see that second color. So if you really wanted to, you could do half of your hat in black for your husband. I don’t like to knit with black yarn because it’s so hard to see but sometimes I just have to force myself.😮

Your Fletching is stunning and love the green. wishing you good fortune in both your April bids and fighting the parking ticket. Mission BC looks like a place one would want to live. It was lovely and bonus it had a really nice yarn shop so what more could I ask for. I'm currently working on the Varma by Sari Nordlund. living here in EC I find I knit with both wool and plant fibers all year. there's no AC where I live but I can usually find a breeze that helps when it gets a little too warm with the wool. Have a great few weeks.

What a fun episode! I am a first time watcher drawn in by your Fletching ❤ fun story - I am currently finishing my third Ranunculus because my daughter's wanted us to have matching sweaters. Well yesterday my son (10yrs old) requested that he and I have matching sweaters as well and through a quick Rav search he ended up choosing the Fletching ❤. Today we stash dove and found our yarns 😍. So, whilst sitting here snug in my chair, preparing to finish this last Ranunculus your podcast popped up on my feed and I knew I had to watch! We are in rural Alaska so summer knits will have to wait until May 😂😂😂
