Thank you for all you share with us. It’s a very empowering thing - when you make garments to fit how you like them to fit on you. Yarn dollar’s are never wasted, because you get more wear out of them.
I never miss one of your episodes. They are wonderful and informative. And to top it all off, you make a tribute to your first nation people. I am so impressed. And one of the many very kind things I notice Canadians doing, and that is what makes them so special.
Hooray for the return of the kitty! The new vest is lovely - subtle elegance! Ooh! That red on you is so pretty! Hey, with Spring on its way, how about a matching ear warming headband to match the avocado 🥑 mitts? Nice footage of Edmonton!
So happy to hear Quinn is okay, know how much our hairy kids mean to us. Edmonton is really beautiful, thank you so much for always providing so much information. I love those Wintery Woods socks, they will definitely be on my to do list. Take care, see you next time
In Stoney Plain just outside west Edmonton, there is a great yarn store also…Jo’s Yarn Garden! We are pretty lucky to have so many great yarn stores here!
Wonderful to hear from you this weekend!!! You showed us 'if you don't succeed, try try again!. No matter what happens we can learn from our mistakes and make lemon from lemonaid! So positive🤩 Loved the footage of you and your niece (she's adorable and definitely has got family resemblance) being able to visit such a WONDERFUL yarn store with that cute, creative name 'Yarn Junkie.' Alberta is on my bucket list of places to visit especially Banff, and now Edmonton just to see that store! Can't believe their selection of yarn- amazing! And you have a great friend there to boot! Knitting is so grand🤗 Love Isabel Kraemer's designs on Ravelry. Your pink yarn is lovely, Right now I have to finish sweaters for my kids b4 I can knit for myself WHICH I PLAN ON DOING- can't wait and motivation from your vlog to 'git er done."!!!!!!!!!!! Have a nice week and thx again. -Carrie from San Francisco Bay area.
Hi Carrie! Your message gave me a boost today! I really appreciate it. Bring an empty suitcase when you come up to buy yarn (er, I mean, visit Canada 😆)
What a funny little kitty you have, I'm glad he was ok. Edmonton looked like a lovely place to visit, I'm glad you got to enjoy some time there for a little adventure. As far as summer tops go, I've got spring on the brain as well and have added a few ideas for myself. I've narrowed it down to these 3... Desert Spring by Jessica Mcdonald Salty Air Tee by Samantha Guerin Aster Tee by Megan Nodecker But I still have time since I'm trying to finish up a pair of socks and a shawl at the moment. So I hope to cast on one of the above patterns by April 1st. Thanks for taking us along on your adventure, I can't wait for the next one :) -Jenn
The cat came back! Great news! Thanks for sharing your experience with a project that didn’t work out. They take a toll on us, eh? I have just laboured through one myself. I alternated skeins but still got some colour pooling and the sweater bloomed after blocking and the beautiful fit is lost. 😑I may frog my FO and use the (expensive and beautiful) yarn for something else 🤷🏼♀️… knit and learn!
I have been binge watching you and knitting too. You are a huge inspiration and I’m enjoying just chillin with you. I live east of Calg and maybe someday I will run into you at one of the local knit shops. Keep them coming !!
My husband's 2 older siblings live in Edmonton, and we try to get out there every year for a visit. I'm definitely going to visit Statement Junkie next time we go! My SIL used to live about 2 blocks away from Fibre Nook!! It's such a cute little place!
I am so glad to hear Quinnie resurfaced from the closet. Your knits are beautiful, even the ones that didn't work out. Thanks for visiting Edmonton and the quick tour. I moved here in the fall of 2021 and still have lots to explore. The fibre scene here is amazing!
Hi Leanne, I’ve been searching for a nice tee sweater pattern but then I remember that I had knit Motyle by Hanna Maciejewska a couple of years ago. Back then I didn’t swatch, used a bamboo blend yarn and the whole sweater became heavy and quite large. So I’m thinking of knitting another but this time with some BC Garn Lino linen yarn and in a smaller size. And this time I will swatch 😂. Anyway, I remember it being a very interesting pattern with flight of butterflies lacework on shoulders and left bottom hem. Something different from the forever stockinette fabric of other simple T’s knit top down and seamless. Thanks for another great episode! ~Renee
Thx 4 visiting Alberta's capital Edmonton! Very happy you found Statement Junkie, favourite yarn store in my burb east of capital. So much variety - AWSM. I hope to Finnish the Ankers Top started last year. Gosh I have all the patterns you showed for PINK, incidentally have old stash yarn, also candy pink to use on same. The gauge swatch will determine it. Using up stash yarns, you're my inspiration!!
Hi I think your Saturday Shrug is beautiful......too bag it is too big but can you wear it with a shawl pin or some decorative clasp where you can fold or gather a side or end to make it wearable for you?
Hi my Saturday shrug was a poop show too 😏but I’m going to maybe Crochet the top smaller just add crochet on the top and see how that works out because that yarn I used was really expensive too And impossible to rip out ….😢
As always, relaxing and informative! Get excited when notification comes about a new you tube video. Thank you so much for doing these. Visits to yarn stores are so neat!
The "Caturday Shrug"!! Oh nooo!! Lol but also, thank you for sharing with us so we can mourn and chuckle along with you. Glad to see that there were still some wins! (And that Quinn was safe in the end.)
Great episode Leanne. Used to hit Edmonton once a month during my work life… before I was a knitter!!(darn)… had a lot of fun there. Glad Quinnie(?) is safe🙏. Love the best, sorry about the shrug… did you say it failed because is grew to much during blocking (?)… do you think it would act differently if yarn with nylon 80/20 might be suitable- thinking of knitting one but you are the second person who has had that problem of the floppy / override neck… hmmmm. Thanks again… loved knitting with you.🤗
Hello Linda 👋🏼!! I honestly feel like my yarn choice (Samoyed Fur stretched out a lot) and my cast on stitch count right off the bat was at least 30 more than I should have started with. I just saw the Friday Shrug is out with a DK version … two fingering-weight sock yarns held double might be magic! But I’m steering clear. 😆
I always look forward to your episodes. Thank you for always adding the First Nations location. I wish more podcasters would do that. So happy to hear Quinnie's adventure ended happily. Who knows where cats disappear to? Narnia is as good a landing spot as any.
I look forward to your vlogs since they will always have great images of the city that you are in and a trip to a LYS, when possible, and this episode did not disappoint. As a Canadian, I have only explored 3 provinces and have not gone very far east or west of ON. AB is so beautiful and I will definitely visit it one day. Thank you for sharing all your lovely makes and mishaps. Every situation is a learning adventure that we don't recognize until the end. Glad that your cat was safe and sound. ❤😻Safe travels to you and your crew.
So glad to hear your cat came back or out of the closest as the case may be. Love the fingerless mitts and the socks Leanne, now that you've found magic loop have you tried knitting socks or mitts two at a time?
@@theknittystew LOL 🤣nope newbie when it comes to knitting socks, working on my second pair with magic loop. I figured I would just start out figuring out how to knit them two at a time that way they would be the same length and size, least until I make a mistake and have to ripe one out.
So glad Quinn is okay! When my partner and I were living in New Orleans a few years ago, our cat also went through another dimension. We thought he had gotten out during a tropical storm and spent an hour looking for him in hurricane force winds. He was sleeping in a closet. Love your podcast, and I really love that you talk about the first nation people wherever you are. I'm Lakota and it's really great that you take the time to do so. Happy knitting!
I enjoy your videos so much and love hearing all the history. Thank you for popping in right away to tell us Quinn the cat was okay. I had already started sending out prayers and positive energy when you let us know the good news of his reappearance. 😊
I really love your podcasts! “Traveling” with you is lovely, and the knitting content is great; you have such good taste! And I’m SO glad you edited in the update on Quinn. I’m a fierce animal lover, and a story about a missing cat upsets me as if he were my own. I could feel relief because you put the update in early. Thank you! 😊
So glad your cat was just napping in the closet! Your sweater vest reminded me that I have yarn that I bought in Scotland last summer that I meant to knit a sweater vest with. Perhaps that will be a cast on this weekend!
I can’t tell you how relieved we were that Quynn was safe - the little stinker. Oh yes using your wool from Scotland for a vest sounds VERY right to me.
So happy to hear Quinn is okay!! So happy to watch your podcast today while I'm knitting away on a test knit. I really love all the information you provide us. I think I'd the Isabel Kraemer sweater with your pink yarn. I love your hand dyed fingerless gloves. I'm planning to dye some yarn too. So exciting!! Thanks Leanne for another entertaining interesting podcast❤
I'm happy to hear that you "found" your cat and I loved the reference to Narnia. Cats are funny how they like to hide out sometimes. I'm sorry about your shrug! I think maybe that beautiful pink yarn wants to be another ranunculus for summer. What a great color!
Not sure if you are aware, River City Yarns is closing their brick and mortar shop permanently on March 31st as the building has been sold. They are open for in store shopping on Sat afternoons until permanent closing. Big sale on now! They plan to continue with their online presence....
❤ I’m finally catching up! Haven’t been to Edmonton since about 2008 or 2009 so you’re really bringing me back! Love those fingerless mitts, and that avocado green is AMAZING! I have one friend where everything she knits ends up being “for the cats” so I can relate to the ‘Caturday’! 😂 And Mick, oh my goodness! Another great episode, thank you!!!
love catching up Leanne, can''t wait to get to Calgary someday ;) ...I appreciate the "travel vlog" portion of the podcast. Mick is truly a soulful stash addition. What special skein. I anticipate once I'm finished this project for my niece, I am going to go on a stash busting tour as well. Unless of course of that soulful skein comes along :). I'm so glad Quinn returned from Narnia. Ack! The world is a mysterious and awesome place. Happy Trails and smooth sailing. Sarah
Thank you Sarah! I love that “soulful stash addition”. Mic wants to be fingerless gloves … I’m 99.9% sure. Cannot wait for your visit out here one day. If I make it out to where you are I might never leave. Apparently it’s called squatting - and frowned upon. 😆
Oh Leanne, I'm soooo glad to hear that Quinn returned from her Narnia trip safe and sound from her Narnia trip 😂❤ I completely feel your pain on the hat-knitting for kids! A little while ago, my daughter lost the hat I had knit for her and I promptly set to knitting another using different yarn as I couldn't get the original. 3 hats were knit that weekend and none of them were to her liking 😂 In the end she found her lost hat at school and all was well. The things we do for our kids! 🤣 Your fingerless mitts are beautiful and I love the Avocado colour 😍 I recently subscribed to Longway Homestead's Fibre Breed Study--so fun! Thanks for showing us around Edmonton and Happy Making 🤗💕
Glad the cat was found and I'm intrigued about the potential Narnia closet 😉That yarn shop looks amazing as does the green (and knitting) on those fingerless mitts 😍Pink: the Isabel Kraemer because you had me at "pocket" (though the DRK Everyday sweater is in my queue using John Arbon Yarnadelic)...I live in Florida so it might need to wait for a while as it's getting steamier here by the minute. Safe travels!
So happy Quinn was found safe!! Your vest looks amazing on you. I will have to add that one to my list! I have yet to knit a vest! Thank you so so much for sharing your beautiful projects. Safe travels and knit on my friend! 🥰🧶
Thank you for your kind words and congratulations Leanne! It was lovely to see your second sock well under way. The avocado yarn is perfect! I love that yellow undertone green. Isabell Kraemer does some lovely summer knits. I have knit a few of Edies in linen and cotton blends. Safe travels to you and hopefully less IROPS.
Thank you Leanne! the more episode of yours I watch the more desperate I grow of visiting Canada and allllllll the gorgeous shops you are showcasing! Amazing projects off and on your needles 🤩 I have tested for Anna before and I learnt a lot from her pattern. Your vest is great🥰
Thanks for another lovely episode! Clo Knits has just done a fabulous comparison of unspuns including Nutiden and Crux fibres. It is really good for anyone interested but inexperienced in unspun x
You've done the impossible, my friend. You make me want to go to Edmonton & Sherwood Park. That yarn store is the most wonderful place. Coffee AND yarn! I love the fingerless gloves so much. That colour is perfection. 1100g is awesome. 😘
Oh my goodness that IS SOMETHING!! We could do some serious damage in that place, and surround shops in the area. I need more than 1100g to shop with!!!
Thank you for the peek at Edmonton!! It brought back fond memories. I taught school in Ardmore, lived in Bonneville (we’re talking 1976), and spent many weekends with the family of my Ukrainian grandma landlady in Edmonton. Your commentary on the locations you visit is only one of the reasons I LOVE your podcast - Your projects are fun, your mindful choices of patterns and yarn are motivating, and your style is very down to earth and approachable. Whenever I see that you’ve posted a new episode it puts a smile on my face! Thank you!!
Hi Susan! What a beautiful comment to read. Oh my goodness how Edmonton has changed eh? Can you imagine 1.5 million people! Incredible. Thank you so much for being here and travelling with me. 🤗
Hi Leigh-Ann! I'm so glad Quinn was found. We recently have lost two of our feral cats. We seem to get feral cat colonies in threes. The last group we had, we lost two and the third one is now a house cat. This latest group of three, two have been missing for about week. We know that Jack visits other houses, but Eve normally stays here. But they are both gone now. Although Bobbi, who mostly lives in our garage (which is really a 100+ year old house from a great uncle) has been visiting on the porch and sunning herself. We have two indoor cats, Bella and Meg. Meg was the former feral cat (an orange tabby) and Bella we adopted when she was 4 from the ASPCA. We are hoping the other two show back up. While we are not as cold as you, we did just have a snow storm drop 10+ inches.......I love your vest! I just got yarn to make Thea Colman's new one called Goldwyn Folly. The pattern photo, they used a dark green yarn. I got a similar color. However I am trying to finish up some WIPS first.....sorry this turned into a book!
Hi Gracie! So lovely that you are a feral cat refuge! That would be hard to not get attached and just accept the situations as they unfold. Awesome 🤗 service. Happy knitting !! Thanks for being here.
Well...I'm not sure how to tell you this, but the boots at Northstar Mall in San Antonio, TX are one foot taller. "In 1980, a pair of 40-foot (12 m)-tall cowboy boots, a sculpture by the late artist Bob "Daddy-O" Wade entitled 'The Giant Justins,' were installed on the I-410 frontage road. The mall promotes the sculpture, created for the Washington Project for the Arts in 1979, as the "world's largest pair of cowboy boots." In 2020, the sculpture remain intact and celebrated its forty year mainstay at the mall.[2]"
Hi JoAnna! Google did me wrong! I looked it up before tooting Edmonton’s horn, and it said those boots were 35’-ft 33”… hmm only one way to clarify this - I need to come to San Antonio with a tape measure 😆
Oh I’m glad your cat was only in Narnia and returned safe and sound 🥰 your “cattaday shrug” 😩 oh boy!!! Well your vest is magic and your mitts are cute, nice dye job! My life has been in IROP mode since Aug 2019 🤭😬🤣 and knitting has kept my hands busy so I don’t slap people!! IROP love that! Thanks again for the fun, adventures and giggles, Karen
Oh sweet Karen! My wish is that your ‘life IROP’ would now turn into blessing after blessing in proportion to the difficulties. Thank you for always being here and so kind 🤗
Thank you for another wonderful video. As a Floridian (USA) I LOVE seeing all the beautiful parts of Canada; I feel like I’m there with you. And all the perfect yarn stores😍.
OMG that yarn shop looks "unreal". Could they open another one in NYC? I am so glad Queeny is fine. I've a16 y.o. cat (Missy) and I totally get the anxiety that fury babies can serve us I ambusting a 3 y.o. Rowan Kid silk Mohair stash knitting the Copenhagen Cardigan . I did have to buy the Isager 2, but it is to use what already have in stasth, right? 😜Thank you for another great episode.
Isn’t it an amazing shop!? I was blown away. Good on ya bustin that stash! My issue is exactly that - I have to buy extra stash to use up the stash I have (for garments!)
It's absolutely worth it to have some gel polish and a small lamp for nail emergencies. I do my own now. If you ever head to DTW, message me. I'll show you yarn stores. My mom was a stew. 1958, no flight attendants, stews! I love your podcast
When you mentioned that you were working on old stash “chickadee “ I almost fell out of my chair! So am I! Bought mine ages ago at The Woodstock (Ontario) Festival. I am making The Drawing Sweater. I purchased The Knitting Companion app in order to battle the many charts required to accomplish this project! I think the yarn is divine. ~ Afriendlyknitter
WHAT!! That is so neat!! What a coincidence. I am adding you on Ravelry if we are not already friends on there. I need a tutorial of the KnitCompanion app.
I am so glad that your cat was ok and turned up to just have been in the house. That is a really neat cowboy boot. I had no idea that River City Yarns went online only. I had been to visit them 2x when I was in Edmonton, fall of 2017 and fall of 2018. I was in town both times for a knitting retreat (that doesn't seem to run anymore since covid). Anyhow, it was a great shop when it was open. Funny about Deadmenton... we have another one... Winterpeg! Ha ha! (I was supposed to visit Winnipeg for the first time in April 2020 for a knitting retreat put on by Woolsley Wool but it got cancelled because of the pandemic... :( Maybe one day it'll run again and I'll get to visit Winnipeg.
Hi Stew, love your vest, you have inspired me, I have been looking at that pattern, very nice! I am knitting with un spun right now, it’s a first for me! Manchelopi, from wool and waves, inspired by your video😮, and I am glad your cat came back! Or never left? I have just acquired a wildcat this winter, she (I think), is in and out, and sometimes disappears for overnight, that’s how she won her way inside, I said if you come back,I will let you in. But,still disappears ,but hopefully will keep coming back. Take care, stay calm and knit on!
Hi Melissa 👋🏼 oh hello to the Manchelopi!!! Keep me posted on your experience. The Always Vest is very fresh in my mind so let me know if you run into any snags or issues!
Thank you so much for another lovely podcast! Always enjoy watching you. 😊🧶 Your knits are beautiful, and that yarn shop looks amazing! So happy that Quinn is found and well.
I'm about to cast on Koushi as my spring/summer addition. I'm into textured patterns at the mo. A few summer tops I'm thinking about are Blue Hour - I have the light fingering ready and waiting, Why Knot? - I have some terrific Rose Hill yarn for it, and Sommerknus minus the mohair. Oh the decisions, decisions! Ain't it fun!
It is always so nice to see you and where you are traveling! Edmonton is beautiful!! Your hand dyed mitts are so inspiring. The yarn shop you visited was really a treat!!! Thank you for all the love and joy you put into each episode!!! Happy flying ❤
I have a similar tale of woe, the ellensburg cowl was designed w blue sky fibers woolstok yarn (which is so delightful I don’t have all the words) the cowl must not have a yardage cushion built in, but even still the 21 5g minis of 7different colors (why not 7 15g minis?) not the point; yarn was slightly short, no cushion, had to omit a row per section, and the cast on 168 (free) is too many for once and not quite enough for twice (it’s super snug twice) I’m sad cuz the yarn is amazing lol. Nice recovery w the beautiful mitts! Edmonton looks lovely!
Aww Nikki!! That is a sad tale indeed. Ugh! It’s so very frustrating at times and I really need several knitting WINS immediately after a fail to counteract my disappointment!
Love seeing an episode from Edmonton! Was literally just at SJYC a few days ago to pick up some yarn for a new project. It was my first time there and I loved it! The Fibre Nook is my fave, the staff is just so kind and helpful. Definitely need to check out surrounding yarn stores too. Glad to hear the good news about your cat too, the relief of finding your missing cat is inexplicable (we foster through EHS and our foster kittens love randomly hiding somewhere we didn't even know they could get to 😭) so I'm happy everything worked out!
Always enjoy. Look forward to a Calgary episode. I don't think you've done one, maybe since you live there. We're in Calgary every summer to see grandkids (and check out any LYS's.)
Dear Leanne; It's always a pleasure to sit and knit while you share your fiber and travel adventures. Cats sure are mysterious creatures; I have had similar experiences with mine. Glad Quinn is ok. Your knitting is beautiful and inspiring as always. Sorry about the disapointment with your Saturday Shrug; I am on this bandwagon too; mine will become a shoulder warmer for sure. Lovely to see and learn about Edmonton; your yarnshop tours are so fun. Take Care, Happy Making and Safe Travels until next time!! Best ~ Lori
Thank you Lori for knitting and travelling with me! After the disappointment of the Saturday Shrug I feel like a lot of very happy knits are happening now yay!
Thank you for another great podcast. I always enjoy watching and 'travelling' from my armchair! Thank you too for sharing your knowledge of these cities, it's a wonderful combination. Delighted Quinn is okay, I wonder where he went? I live in the UK and would love to have yarn shops like that - warm beverage and knitting, what more could we ask for. Take care and happy knitting. 😊
Hi Leanne, I'm grateful for your calm (even when cats go missing), informative, and very interesting podcast! I love your intentionality. Your knits are beautiful and your journey is inspiring. I also was born in Edmonton but have called Red Deer home for the last 34 years. The fact that a Calgarian put Oiler footage at the end of her podcast says a lot about your character. I salute you❤
Thank you so much Catherine what a nice message. Haha… i appreciate you noticing the Oilers swag at the end of the video. Trying to be unbiased in my footage 😆
First time seeing your pod cast, it's great to see a Canadian, and my adopted hometown as your location! I learned about a couple of new shops from your episode (in Leduc and Ft SK). I live west of the city now, and my LYS is Jo's Yarn Garden in Stony Plain. Absolutely love it there, I took a wheel spinning class in the fall. Highly recommend visiting on your next stop over!
That is awesome! Hello Robyn 👋🏼 Adding Jo’s to the list. I honestly had NO IDEA how many yarn shops were in and around Edmonton! I’m blown away and need another trip up soon!
Hi LeAnne, Phew, cat in the closet! Typical..I had one I had to chase out of my closets, regularly. He loved to nest in my long wool coats. 😟 Your knits are gorgeous, as always! Thank you for sharing your mistake. Hate when that happens! Looking forward to seeing you again soon. 🧶💕
Hi from Trudy in northern MN with English Leicester Longwools. Love your vest, love you found your cat, love your fingerless mitts, love your socks and I love Blue Bloods too! ha Thank you so much. You provide so much inspiration.
Thanks for another fun podcast! I’ve made an Ankers sweater with 3/4 sleeves in a linen blend yarn & love it! I wear it Spring & Fall with a short sleeve blouse underneath. I’m excited to try the Wild Feathers pattern & think I’ll look for green yarn cause it really suits the pattern well. Your dyed yarn is amazing!
I'm really off kilter today.... you cited your Canadian clause exception and I was baffled. Until I realized it was clause, not claws, as I had thought!
I was so happy to see your new podcast was up! My Pink Memories sweater is my Very favorite of all my sweaters.I would wear it everyday, but don't want to wear it out. Must make more!! Great to see a bit of Edmonton. I am a Road Home groupie, Love listening to Bob Chelmik 24/7 on the Road Home app from a place not too far from Edmonton.
It's such a shame to be on a time crunch when you finally find the yarn shop of your dreams! Hopefully you'll get back there again soon...it's in the stars! Thanks for sharing your adventures and your beautiful knits...can't wait to see the red hat, Swift, and what you decide to knit with 'Mic' :)
Thank you Denise! It was far too quick a visit there … I am going back and spending an afternoon there in the future without such a deadline to get to bed!
Loved the visit! I am very excited about your mention of Jamie Hoffman. I didn't ever see her designs! I will for sure be making her V-neck tee. Love her size range. Do you sleep ok with all your crazy hours? I hope so and imagine you have long since been able to accomodate.
Thanks Valerie! This will be my first of Jamie’s patterns and I’m very excited to try it. Sleeping well is my super power - honestly I wouldn’t have lasted in this job if I had a hard time falling asleep on the road. Sadly, I actually sleep better in hotels than in my own bed. SOO weird.
Was it you mentioned the knitting math ? I watched the podcast to see what you meant, and it seemed to be a real revelation! On a different tack, thank goodness your beautiful cat turned up. Is she ok? It occured that you might have mice in the linen cupboard...The final footage from your flight, the sunrise, I found very moving. I'm not sure why. Very beautiful x
Hi Nicola! Yes, a lightbulb went off in my brain when I learned about Knitting Math explained. I often get very emotional, looking at the sky from above.
Always happy to see a new episode is available. Love that vest. It might have to end up in a granddaughter's collection. Or a husband's. I could feel the relief when you updated us that Quinn had reappeared. Cats have this annoying ability to shift the space time continuoum (sp?). I think they just like playing with our minds.
I've been watching for a while and love your podcast, learning about a part of Canada I don't know about and seeing what you make. I've made both the Anker and the DRK Everyday and love them both and want to make a second one of each, really nice patterns, relaxing knits, and I think they both work with a wide variety of yarns. Also: glad your cat was safe and sound!!
Suggestion for Mick: I had some beautiful vintage angora yarn and made a Sophie Scarf because it would give me a luscious accessory with not a lot of special yarn, and I am in love with it!! I also knit the Anker’s Summer Shirt and it is my favorite knit top. I made it in a cotton linen blend and very much looking forward to wearing it this spring and summer! Thanks for sharing your life!
So glad that Quinn is okay. Pets are such a joy, but also such a worry. I was so surprised when you held up your tag from Long Way Homestead. I bought a skein at Baaad Anna’s in Vancouver a few years ago and had just used it to knit a hat for a friend. I am also trying to knit through my stash. When I bought the Long Way Homestead skein I seem to remember being told that the previous owner of Baaad Anna’s Knitting shop was producing this yarn.
So glad I found you. So much inspiration! Love all your pattern choices and they are all now in my list of patterns to purchase. I’ll be busy binging all your podcasts now since we still have no Spring in Minnesota but lots of snow. Thanks for the trips. Love Canada and glad you found Quinn
Thx for the Quinn update, relieved she is okay. I love your vest and the yarn, I’ve yet to knit with unspun. Your gloves turned out really well and the colour too! Thx for another great podcast, I look forward to and enjoy every one! 🧶🧶🧶
You mentioned in one of your videos “Andrea Mowry’s magic measurements” can you explain in one of your videos what they are. So glad The Mighty Quinn is safe 😻
Love your episodes. I made the Ankers sweater…. Love it ! In Rowan Island Blend. It is such a treat to wear. Looking forward to spring/ summer to pull it out again. ❤
I’ve watched you from the beginning. You are such an inspiration. Thanks you for showing us our beautiful country. So glad kitty is ok. Where did you get your needle stoppers, the ones on the red hat? So cute
Thank you so much for being here from the start Diane!! Good eye on the needle stoppers!! I got them from Perfectly Knotted. She is on a military course right now but hopefully will update her shop soon! I love them: perfectlyknotted.com/collections/stitch-stoppers
Could you please let me know which pattern helped you get your magic numbers? I listened over and over again and even put on subtitles but it said “bike” by Andrea Mowry. Thank you and love the videos. Also any felting should be done by hand so you can control it.
Hi Victoria! Oh dear - sorry about that! The sweater project that gave me my magic number measurements was the Zweig by Caitlin Hunter. I’ll go and add that to the show notes! 🌟
❤I'm so happy to listen your new podcast. On your podcast after 13 minutes on your video . We can see a store you show us with amazing color work tuques. Who's the designer
If you are considering the Andrea Mowry pattern for the pink check out her KAL she is hosting until the end of May. Amazing prizes--if you need some inspiration. Thanks for the visit and a trip to Edmonton.
So glad kitty was never lost. I was considering the Saturday Shrug, but I'd also have to be careful with fit. I like the idea of it not falling off like a shawl can at work, but I don't want it bunching up my shoulders and it certainly won't have the tighter fit of cowls the way I like them. Maybe the Batad by Stephen West would fit the bill better...
I just found your channel, I'm so happy to have found it. I can binge in now. My favourite part was when you were rubbing the Mick wool on your face and forehead to check how soft it is. That is such a familiar thing to me and it really made me appreciate how similar yarn people are. Thanks so much for this wonderful podcast!
Thank you for all you share with us. It’s a very empowering thing - when you make garments to fit how you like them to fit on you. Yarn dollar’s are never wasted, because you get more wear out of them.
Yes! I am more than willing to frog back (2-3 times even to get it the way I LIKE) Thank you for being here Rosemary 🤗!
I never miss one of your episodes. They are wonderful and informative. And to top it all off, you make a tribute to your first nation people. I am so impressed. And one of the many very kind things I notice Canadians doing, and that is what makes them so special.
Wow, thank you! This comment made my day. 😊
Hooray for the return of the kitty! The new vest is lovely - subtle elegance! Ooh! That red on you is so pretty! Hey, with Spring on its way, how about a matching ear warming headband to match the avocado 🥑 mitts? Nice footage of Edmonton!
Great idea 💡 thank you!
So happy to hear Quinn is okay, know how much our hairy kids mean to us.
Edmonton is really beautiful, thank you so much for always providing so much information.
I love those Wintery Woods socks, they will definitely be on my to do list.
Take care, see you next time
Thank you so much Dee!!
In Stoney Plain just outside west Edmonton, there is a great yarn store also…Jo’s Yarn Garden! We are pretty lucky to have so many great yarn stores here!
On my list !! I need more time to check out the Northern Alberta yarn scene!!
Desert Spring by Jessica Mcdonald
Salty Air Tee by Samantha Guerin
Aster Tee by Megan Nodecker
But I still have time since I'm trying to finish up a pair of socks and a shawl at the moment. So I hope to cast on one of the above patterns by April 1st.
Thanks for taking us along on your adventure, I can't wait for the next one :) -Jenn
Thank you Jenn! Oh we have very similar tastes 🤗
Oh Shirley those fails do take a toll hey? But I feel like many “wins” happen afterwards and that keeps me going.
I have been binge watching you and knitting too. You are a huge inspiration and I’m enjoying just chillin with you. I live east of Calg and maybe someday I will run into you at one of the local knit shops. Keep them coming !!
Hi Kim! Thanks for watching the Channel! I hope we run into each other around the knitting circles!
My husband's 2 older siblings live in Edmonton, and we try to get out there every year for a visit. I'm definitely going to visit Statement Junkie next time we go! My SIL used to live about 2 blocks away from Fibre Nook!! It's such a cute little place!
Oh my goodness bring a duffel bag! 😆 I was awakened to how many YARN SHOPS are in northern Alberta. Blew my mind.
@@theknittystew We have a biiiig trunk in our car ;)
I am so glad to hear Quinnie resurfaced from the closet. Your knits are beautiful, even the ones that didn't work out. Thanks for visiting Edmonton and the quick tour. I moved here in the fall of 2021 and still have lots to explore. The fibre scene here is amazing!
The fibre scene is INCREDIBLE up there! I need more time to explore!
~Renee
Thank you very much 💗 And wow! My goodness Renee thank you for mentioning the Motyle! What a STUNNING design. 🦋
We are cheering one another on!! Busting our Balls!!
Hi I think your Saturday Shrug is beautiful......too bag it is too big but can you wear it with a shawl pin or some decorative clasp where you can fold or gather a side or end to make it wearable for you?
Thank you Mary!
“The cat hath claimed thy cowl!”
Hi my Saturday shrug was a poop show too 😏but I’m going to maybe Crochet the top smaller just add crochet on the top and see how that works out because that yarn I used was really expensive too And impossible to rip out ….😢
Marnielee!!! I REALLY feel your Saturday Shrug PAIN!!! Ugh 😣 Well, I hope it helps a little to know that you’re not alone.
As always, relaxing and informative! Get excited when notification comes about a new you tube video. Thank you so much for doing these. Visits to yarn stores are so neat!
Thank you so much Heather 😊!
Love your episodes. I live in Auckland New Zealand ❤
Hello to you in NZ Hellen! Thank you so much for being here 🤗
keep it up
💖
The "Caturday Shrug"!! Oh nooo!! Lol but also, thank you for sharing with us so we can mourn and chuckle along with you. Glad to see that there were still some wins! (And that Quinn was safe in the end.)
There’s comfort in grieving as a group! Turns out I’m on the only one with Saturday Shrug remorse 🤗
Great episode 👍
🌟 thank you!
Love your podcast😊 My DRK Everyday sweater is one of my favourites, it’s a great pattern!
Thanks Ann! It looks so classic. I’ll make one for sure.
Hi Leanne, your green mitts are fantastic! And I was so relieved to hear that your cat is back. As always, a great episode. 🌷🌞
Thank you! 😊 We are so relieved!!
So relieved your little Quinn is fine❤ we love our animals so much! Great podcast, thank you, happy knitting!
Thank you Marie-France! 🤗 😊
Thank you Sheryl 🤗! Oh my goodness yes, cats are such a mystery!
Thank you SO much for being here and your thoughtful message .. so good for my soul. 🤗
So glad to hear your cat came back or out of the closest as the case may be. Love the fingerless mitts and the socks Leanne, now that you've found magic loop have you tried knitting socks or mitts two at a time?
I haven’t got into two at a time but I could see that being a VERY good thing! Are you a pro?
@@theknittystew LOL 🤣nope newbie when it comes to knitting socks, working on my second pair with magic loop. I figured I would just start out figuring out how to knit them two at a time that way they would be the same length and size, least until I make a mistake and have to ripe one out.
I find my gauge is looser on 9” circus on socks than with magic loop.
Interesting! I find this is happening for me too … unexpected!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Backatcha Carolyn 🌟 !!
Wow that’s incredible! I am learning that cats and closets are “a thing” !!! Thank you so much for your feedback I really appreciate reading this. 🤗
I'm so happy that your cat was found. Love your Always Vest, the yarn shop tour, and the big cowboy boots!
Thank so very much. You are so kind! And I always smile when you comment Queen!
I enjoy your videos so much and love hearing all the history. Thank you for popping in right away to tell us Quinn the cat was okay. I had already started sending out prayers and positive energy when you let us know the good news of his reappearance. 😊
Thank you Shannon! What a little stinker eh? Appreciate you being here!
Thank you! 😊
I was so relieved and I know what a compassionate community this is - so I knew I better EDIT that update in there right away!
Thanks Leanne,,,
Enjoyed UR Podcast,,,
Glad ur kitty is safe,,,
Love UR socks, vest,,,
Elaine 🏡🏡🏡
Thank you Elaine! 😊
Love that you share your "mistakes". I prefer that than just watching a podcast where everything is perfect. Excellent show.
Thank you Lisa! I appreciate this comment A LOT 🔅
So glad Quinn is safely home!!!
We were soooo relieved Deb 🤗!!
You could make a bag out of that Saturday Shrug and line it! Unless you don’t want to take it away from your cat😆
Good idea! I ran it by Ali… she says “meow way” 😹
So glad your cat was just napping in the closet!
Thank you so much Robyn 🤗 !
Thank you Matthew! Your friend and I should start a knitting for cats group. Lol
I'm so happy for you that Quinn turned out to be ok. Our fur babies do like to worry us don't they!
We were absolutely beside ourselves!! Fur babies and grey hairs !!
love catching up Leanne, can''t wait to get to Calgary someday ;) ...I appreciate the "travel vlog" portion of the podcast.
Oh Leanne, I'm soooo glad to hear that Quinn returned from her Narnia trip safe and sound from her Narnia trip 😂❤
I completely feel your pain on the hat-knitting for kids! A little while ago, my daughter lost the hat I had knit for her and I promptly set to knitting another using different yarn as I couldn't get the original. 3 hats were knit that weekend and none of them were to her liking 😂 In the end she found her lost hat at school and all was well. The things we do for our kids! 🤣
Your fingerless mitts are beautiful and I love the Avocado colour 😍 I recently subscribed to Longway Homestead's Fibre Breed Study--so fun!
Thanks for showing us around Edmonton and Happy Making 🤗💕
Thank you for watching friend! Wow, our cats (and kids) sure do give us grey hair don’t they 😆!!
Jessica come on up to Canada ~ you can wear your knit sweaters 8 months of the year 😆
So happy Quinn was found safe!! Your vest looks amazing on you. I will have to add that one to my list! I have yet to knit a vest! Thank you so so much for sharing your beautiful projects. Safe travels and knit on my friend! 🥰🧶
Thank you Sophie! I am so happy you could ‘knit with’ me this morning! 😊 Knit on sistah 💪🏼
Oh thank you Nancy! Hope you had a wonderful weekend!
Thank you Leanne! the more episode of yours I watch the more desperate I grow of visiting Canada and allllllll the gorgeous shops you are showcasing! Amazing projects off and on your needles 🤩 I have tested for Anna before and I learnt a lot from her pattern. Your vest is great🥰
Thank you so much! Hope you make it to Canada (with an empty suitcase to fill) some day!
Thanks for another lovely episode! Clo Knits has just done a fabulous comparison of unspuns including Nutiden and Crux fibres. It is really good for anyone interested but inexperienced in unspun x
Oh thank you Cheryl! Great resource!
Thank you Marisa! 🤗
Oh how neat! Those were golden times of travel. So glamorous! Some of those uniforms back then were gorgeous.
I could handle a knitting retreat … right about now.
Thank you so much Wendy 🤗 !
These are ALL lovely !! So much inspiration only two hands hey!!
It is always so nice to see you and where you are traveling! Edmonton is beautiful!! Your hand dyed mitts are so inspiring.
The yarn shop you visited was really a treat!!!
Thank you for all the love and joy you put into each episode!!! Happy flying ❤
Thank you so much Bonnie for being the best cheerleader always! Many blessings 🤗
I’ll be back to visit the Fibre Nook sometime for sure!!
Hello from Wellington New Zealand! Once again, loved your episode, Thank you for sharing ❤️
Hello to you in Wellington NZ Rebecca! 🤗
Always enjoy. Look forward to a Calgary episode. I don't think you've done one, maybe since you live there. We're in Calgary every summer to see grandkids (and check out any LYS's.)
Thank you Marie! 😊 Stay tuned… I promise a Calgary episode before summer.
Thank you so much! I am grateful for you armchair travelling with me! As for where Quinn went … shall remain a mystery 😆. Take care 🤗
Bonjour Leanne! The cat knows home sweet home! Always back! Love the green fingerless! Happy knitting!
Bonjour Louise!! 😊 We are so relieved to have the cat safe and sound. What an emotional rollercoaster!
Hello Heidi! Apparently this whole closet and hiding cats is a thing .. lots of comments about it here 😆
Hi from Trudy in northern MN with English Leicester Longwools. Love your vest, love you found your cat, love your fingerless mitts, love your socks and I love Blue Bloods too! ha Thank you so much. You provide so much inspiration.
Hello and thank you so much Trudy! Are you on Instagram? Would love to see your sheep!
Thank goodness Quinn showed up!! I LOVE what you're wearing, so beautiful.
Thank you so much Jillian! We were all so worried… the little stinker! 🤍🤍
Thank you Cheri 🤗!!
I'm really off kilter today.... you cited your Canadian clause exception and I was baffled. Until I realized it was clause, not claws, as I had thought!
Haha! Stay tuned… apparently I am coming up with a lot of “Clause”
Thanks for sharing that Linda !! And thank you for watching my channel 🤗!!
Cats are totally messing with us most of the time, I’m convinced! Good thing they’re cute and purry! 😂 Thank you for being here Esther!
Thank you so much Susan! Oh I perk up when I hear someone wanting to make multiple items when a pattern is that good!
Love your vlog! I am always amazed the projects, patterns and balls of yarn you pack. Great job from a fellow Albertan..❤️🇨🇦
Thank you so much Dee! I appreciate your comments always
Thank you Julie! The Sophie Scarf would drape so beautifully in Mic!
Oh yes Joan, she (Anna) is creating a Canadian Wool MOVEMENT of sorts. She is amazing!
Always so happy when a video pops up from you. What a great vest!!!! And mitts too! Glad your cat "came back" from who knows where! 🐾
Thank you Margaret ! 😊
Thank you Jeanne 🤗!!! So glad I ended up on your radar!!
So glad I have the opportunity to catch up with you and SOOOO glad Quin is ok!!! Of course, I always love seeing your knitting!!!
Thank you so much Darlene! Oh Quynn gave us quite a scare. We were so relieved she was in the closet 😻
Thx for the Quinn update, relieved she is okay. I love your vest and the yarn, I’ve yet to knit with unspun. Your gloves turned out really well and the colour too! Thx for another great podcast, I look forward to and enjoy every one! 🧶🧶🧶
Thank you so much Susan for your messages they are always so encouraging ! 😊
You mentioned in one of your videos “Andrea Mowry’s magic measurements” can you explain in one of your videos what they are. So glad The Mighty Quinn is safe 😻
Thank you and yes that’s a great suggestion!
Love your episodes. I made the Ankers sweater…. Love it ! In Rowan Island Blend. It is such a treat to wear. Looking forward to spring/ summer to pull it out again. ❤
Cindy that is a winning statement: a treat to wear! I feel like that about my Zweig. So I hope that’s my Anker experience too!
I love them:

I was just thinking the other day that you hadn’t released a new video in a while. Glad you’re back! Love all your podcasts 🥰
Wow, thank you! More to come. 🤗
Those hats are from the brilliant mind of Simone (known as Sandandskycreations on Ravelry and Instagram)!
If you are considering the Andrea Mowry pattern for the pink check out her KAL she is hosting until the end of May. Amazing prizes--if you need some inspiration. Thanks for the visit and a trip to Edmonton.
That’s right!! It’s the DRK KAL!! Thanks for the reminder 🤗
I had never seen that Stephen West design - it’s neat!
Yarn people are the best people! I am so happy to meet you Kelly! Welcome.
