    I been watching your inner and outer cv boot replacement videos over a dozen times. That's me. Thanks for the video, it was very helpful. This is a month long project since I am a small old guy with a bad shoulder. I am doing 1 step a day. Like taking lug nuts off is a 1 day thing. I'm spreading the steps out per day to take my time and making it less stressful. So I'm always watching to make sure I am doing it right. I am even replacing the outer boot with a new one even though it is not split. The inner boot is actually only broken.

    Thank you for this! Great explanation. Plenty of inner boot videos out there, but nobody doing liters for some reason. Much appreciated!!

    Trick on outer for clip assembly is a zip tie. Wrap around shaft & pull tight over clip. Slide axle into CV joint. Cut zip tie! EZ

    Normally how much time do original axles last?

    • @Autofixpals
      @Autofixpals  5 років тому +3

      They will last as long as you want them to last. If you put new boots on them when they rip, before its too late. I have NEVER changed an OEM Nissan Axle because it wore out, as long as it is being lubricated its going to last.
      A lot of aftermarket Axles will cause drivetrain vibrations. So if you can save your OEM axles please do so. They are about 600 bucks new each.

      @Sam S wow nice to see your comment and Hakim's video, I didn't know that replacements were so bad. I have a 2008 Altima v6 with Manual Trans, with 118k miles and they look nice, make noise while turning right after I installed lowering springs.

      Update: On my Altima, I replaced my original CV axles for Duralast Gold, and it fixed pop noise while accelerating in first gear, and noise while turning all to one direction at low speeds (parking). My original CV axles look in good condition, the boots are flawlessly perfect, but the internal mechanisms were failing. Any fix for them? What should I do with those parts? I guess the 3.5 and Manual transmission is not as gentle as a 2.5 CVT

    I have a 2016 Nissan 370Z that is a dedicated track car. Very small hole in the outer CV boot on the driver's side. I have the outer CV boot kit from Nissan which looks exactly like the kit in your video. Is the procedure pretty much the same to replace it? I already have the shaft out of the car, just need to make sure I can do the repair. Thanks and great video!

    I just finished installing the outer cv boot on my rogue. I took the car for a spin, feels great, then looked underneath the vehicle, and it seems that some of the new grease from the new boot, is escaping when I drive, in the area where I clamped the boot. I checked the clamp, and it is on tight. Is it possible I overtightened ? It didn't feel that way when I initially installed it. I will try fixing the clamp. If not, I thought of taking it to a mechanic to see if he can fix the clamp on the one the bigger portion of the boot. Any suggestions ? Have you heard of this happening before ?

    I have a Nissan Altima 2012 2.5L, after driving on highway for 2 hours my car loses power; speed not accelerating very well, RPM not going up more than 2.5-3, and when you push the pedal down you hear a loud noise coming I dont know if its the engine or the transmission.
    This does happen very often in summer days on highway not in the city.
    Sometimes I experience this also in winter but not like summer.
    I changed CVT oil with no help.
    Can you help me?

      You need a CVT oil cooler added to your vehicle. There is a Service bulletin that applies. see the link for more info. static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2015/SB-10074565-2280.pdf

    Both of my inners boots are busted. Neither clicks when turning. Should it be just fine replacing the boots?
    Or should I check for another sign if the actual joints are defective? I have 126k on a 2010 rogue.
    I saw both these rogue videos. Thanks for each...,

    Quick question for you sire, does the Rouge have a CVT transmission. If so, is it any easier/harder to pry the axle out near transmission housing? I have not serviced much newer Nissans but did have a friend with a Maxima and remember it being more of a pain than normal to get that axle into the transmission with the old or new circlip. Respect.

    • @Autofixpals
      @Autofixpals  5 років тому

      yes they have CVT's driver axle is easy to remove and install. Passenger side axle requires a bit of finesse and heat to remove.

    Much easier and much much quicker to do it on car with a stretch boot and a simple cheap cone boot stretcher.

      i have never used one of those kits. Will it last 100k miles? We have to use OEM or Value parts at the Dealer so thats kind of out of the question for use on a customers car where i work. Maybe a used car but not a customer car.
