@@elessartelcontar147 as she was cast down from the magna ge and became daedra... It is possible her particular hatred for Molag Bal and his sphere is more akin to a woman scorned. It would take a pretty strong feeling to go behind the backs of your own kind and associate with the enemy. After all the magna ge cast her out because she associated with the deadra (specified as unnamed and illicit), and it is said that her intentions are unclear. It's not outside the realm of possibility that they were lovers at one point in time and at some point Molag Bal stabbed her in the back. She might actually be out for vengeance. For example, Boethiah seems to have possibly been a lover of Lorkhan and out of vengeance for him ripping out his heart she turned Trinimac into Malacath. It would appear these entities hold grudges.
I think this song from Elder Scrolls online best describes Molag Bal. Of all the Daedric princes There's one with shock and gull His goal, the domination and enslavement of us all The God of Schemes The Prince of Pain The Captain of Corruption. He tills the land of Tamriel And sows the seeds of destruction The planemeld is nigh, the planemeld is nigh Our world will disappear. The planemeld is nigh, the planemeld is nigh, our doom is drawing near. Chains of Darkness grip the land And draw it ever near. To his Nightmare, Coldharbor, Where hope bows down to fear, Tearing souls of innocents into eternal pain. While his Daedric minions sing praises of his name. The Planemeld is nigh The planemeld is nigh. As Molag Bal commands The planemeld is nigh The planemeld is nigh Our doom is now at hand.
I have a personal headcanon for why the princes fight for followers so hard. The princes are using souls to keep score on a game not dissimilar to monopoly (just more bloodshed and trash talking). When the scores start getting high enough, the princes begin gearing up for a battle to decide the fate of Mundas. Then Akatosh; father of mortals, master of all, OP af; waltzes through the daedric realms, taking back all the souls and either shuttling them off to eternal rest or dumping them back on Mundas for another attempt at getting through life without screwing up. The daedric princes are basically left to rebuild their armies and the apocalypse is postponed for a few more years. No one ever finds out because a daedric prince is not about to admit that Big Brother refuses to let them keep the souls they claim. The aiming at particular souls is either princes reclaiming favourites of previous rotations; or taking over a follower of someone else that was a particular pita to them personally. The even funnier extension to this is that the daedric princes don’t know Akatosh is doing it to all of them; and it’s a mad scramble to for a prince get some followers back after heks been through without letting all of the others know you have no army.
@@lord0jackostar idk m9 ofc they all afraid of his power.. just remember i got news what cause did on warp in the west A.K.A Dragonbreak is because Akatosh doing a recycle bin on the system xD 🐴😅😂
I think I figured out Molag Bal's "redeeming" quality: he wants to make mortals strong. Molag Bal loathes weakness, and has admitted to respecting those who resist him. _Molag Bal actually wants mortals to defy him because that shows true strength._ Those who worship him are still showing submission and weakness, which is why Molag Bal torments and devours the souls of those who worship him. This Prince doesn't want your reverence, he wants you to triumph over whatever he throws at you. Only then will you be worthy of his respect. He's harsh, cruel, and horrible, but Molag Bal does have a redeeming quality if you look hard enough. And maybe squint a little.
That sounds more like Boethiah, aside from the defying him part as she hates it when people do that. I think when people defy him he uses that against them. Think of when Anakin said he wanted to kill Palpatine when he found out he was a Sith Lord. Did Palpatine fight back? No. He said he could feel his anger. He was convincing Anakin that this feeling he had was good for him, further turning him towards the dark side. I think Molag Bal uses the same method. He will do whatever he has to in order to corrupt someone. So when you demand to be released from his altar in Markarth he obliges, but still tells you to find the priest of Boethiah. He could kill you right then and there. But in your mind you just made a Daedric Prince do what you said to do. You probably would feel pretty powerful and then you start seeing from his point of view; power feels good. Making people do what you want feels good.
i mean yea if you accept his request he just laughs at us and if we try to deny him he becomes a bit serious in his tone. Guy is pure evil but also wants his followers and even normal mortals to become strong and not be weak, i hate his guts but i respect his attitude towards becoming strong.
It was this quest in Skyrim that actually had me feel afraid of the daedric princes it made understand just how powerful they can be. I mean he literally has you beat a guy to death then brings him back to life unscathed physically just for the laugh of watching it happen again.
Also he is one of the few deadra who you can't opt out of. With the others either you know what you are getting involved with or you can leave once you find out. With Molag Bal once you enter the house you must kill for him no matter what.
Genius will appear like a madman infront of a fool. You may think he is insane but every plan he ever cooked up worked perfectly. Unlike Molag Ball or Dagon, Sheogorath never failed in his thinking, nor in his execution. Hermeus Mora is a complete fool infront of Sheogorath. Sheogorath can just destroy all otgher deadric princes combined.
Sanguine simply makes people fools of themselves. Molag Bal gives you a living hell, and then kills you, brings you to his realm, and then continues to torment you
I still recall the first time I did his quest line. When in the house, when Molag Bal makes everything rumble and shit flies everywhere, I was actually a bit scared cause I didn't know if I was gonna die an instant death or what. It was truly well done to put that feeling into me. But the feeling didn't last long cause while all that was going on, I was in stealth mode and when Bal told us to fight, I backstabbed the vigilant (or whatever he was) with the kill animation and I was like, dude, I was right next to you and you didn't see me coming ? I wasn't even much behind him, like maybe just right behind one of his arms when the kill animation triggered. I actually laughed out loud which dissipated all of what happened right before.
If you do the quest for him in Skyrim, it may accually be a good decision, even if you are role playing a more good hearted player. You not only take a priest of boethia out of the way, but you also make sure that the mace doesn’t fall into the hands of someone who will use it for... more interesting purposes.
@@acat6145 objectively yes but it depends on how hard you’re sticking to your characters morals lol. I usually play more loose with it just because it’s more fun

@@j751 feeding doesn't kill so can feed off sleeping people also though can use vampire seduction on an enemy/villain type of the levels match well enough you can then feed off them
@@j751 I don't break in houses and things, I simply enter the Temple of Arkay/caverns of the dead in Whiterun and feed off the sleeping priest so no breaking and entering required. Also I'm simply saying you don't have to be a brute killing and feeding off people for the hell of it so comparatively you can be a good Vampire only feeding when necessary besides as the Dragonborn hero of the world you can be and do what you want. Power means never having to apologize; Machiavelli said something like that.
@@j751 The greater good is how, you the hero have to face Alduin and send him somewhere else for a long while, you also have to face and kill countless bandits and other villains and zombies many times, so Vampire Lord or Werewolf grants you additional strength and power to face all these foes and help everyone. So a slightly bad thing must be done to help save the world oh well. In fact take real life during one of the world wars Britain/UK had to stop sending aid to lesser/weaker places so it's people and the rest of the allies could defeat the Axis nations, many people in those lesser places died cause of that so once again the greater good was done.
@@j751 the feeding doesn't kill the priest or anything like that but you kinda get why Vampire Lord can be a sort of good thing now. Also the villain/bandit types I use seduction on to then feed they are gonna be killed anyway cause they are villains and the feeding does some good for the hero.
He's more the "this image has been marked disturbing, do you wish to uncover it" kinda guy. Less of a, "hentai pop up add" And more of a, "dog that got lit on fire by a sick fuck" Ya get me?
He is hands down my favorite, when i was a kid and i did his quest in oblivion i instantly just had to like him, he was badass, he punished his enemies, and he gave you an awesome mace in the end. I was super happy when i found out his role in eso. I'm excited to find out his role in TES6!
Captain Zoltan77 He has done so much more than that. You have to give a fearful respect to the father of vampires. The guy almost pulled an entire planet into hell.
As someone said in the comments, he may be evil. But if you look hard enough you could find a redeemable quality: He want to make you strong. I know, he does a lot of bad things to the people who first submit to him, but he likes it if you fight him back (like saying no to his quest), he will like you even more because he believes that the strong should rule the weak. So he will torture you for being weak, but he loves when mortals show dominance towards others and strength
My guess is they wanted him to be more of a monstrous demonic figure of huge scale hence the tone of the voice. In skyrim he sounded more like a devil goblin.
Not really. I much prefer the booming ESO voice. it fits just fine as well. its just his more directly brutal side not sexy "Crush his booooones it gives me a booooner" side
Judging by all the torture shit in TES4 through oblivion gates, and in Mankar Camoran's paradise (which was probably made by Mehrunes Dagon), Mehrunes Dagon clearly loves pointless cruelty & torture as much as Molag Bal does. He's not all philosophy.
I agree with this assessment. While many of the Daedric Princes do evil things, and are most certainly dark...to be Evil with a capital ‘E’, relies on your intent. By that standard, Molag Bal fits the bill, and being he is what and who he is, it’s a testament to the set of balls Meridia has on her to openly defy him the way she has, with no fear. Props to her.
Priests of Arkay do purify tombs and exorcise spirits as well as deal with vampires and others on occasion, but priests aren't warriors. There are independent clerics whose patron is Arkay though.
Well the funny thing is that Molag Bal is one of the few Daedric Princes who actually sees protagonist as... equal, in a certain way of course. He is my favourite Daedric Prince, but I see his nature from a bit different perspective, which was not fully covered in this video. First, what's wrong with domination on its own? Does every protagonist "dominate" his enemies and makes the world around him as he WANTS it to be? Did Dragonborn win the fight with Alduin because he was "Good/Right" or because he was STRONGER? I agree that Molag Bal wants to dominate the world in an "evil" way, but I separate "evil" and "desire of domination" in his characteristics. Second, vampirism. Yes, first vampire was not a volunteer, it was an act of evil etc, but... that was an experiment! In result, he gave mortals an option to disobey Arkey and live as long as they want if they are strong enough at least to defend themself. Yes, vampire lifestyle dispose to evil actions which Molag Bal probably would prefer (so it is a kind of corruption), but in the end it's up to them to do decide how to behave. Other Daedric Princes might interact with protagonist for fun (e.g. Sanguine, Sheo), to have one-time bargain (i.e. I want you to do X and I'll reward you with Y and that's it, e.g. Azura) or expect certain type of behaviour/worship (e.g. canibalism, kill undead etc.), but not Molag Bal. He gives you a mace to crush YOUR enemies, whoever they are, and... he will be watching. So he basically likes protagonist AS IS and respects his right to have his own judgments as long as he is STRONG enough to defend them.
I LOVE HIS MACE! My Shang Tsung Dark Elf is the ultimate soul gem seller in all of Skyrim because of that mace. ^_^ I think I will level him up more so. Right now Shangy is level 75 while Sub-Zero is level 86. Still can't defeat Ebony Warrior though. :(
I don’t care what anyone else thinks, to me you guys are badass, put a lot of time and effort into your TES lore vids, and what some don’t seem to understand(or they do and just ignore it and want to sound holier than thou) is that The Elder Scrolls is an enormous, if not the most complicated assortment of differing lore facts that constantly contradict each other, yet still coincide somehow or another, which makes the world of the Elder Scrolls so much better and realistic(compared to other rpg worlds and games). So you guys are my #1 pick when I want to see some Elder Scrolls lore, in order to create a character or instill some nostalgic gusto in my current characters associated with whatever race happens to be involved in any one lore video you guys have uploaded, of which there are many, so I’m very thankful for your channel, and I hope to see more lore videos to come! I’d hate to see you guys stop making lore videos, because I can see you enjoy it just as much as I do, if not more🙂 I’m pasting this on this because the original comment was on your “best warrior in TES” lore vid, just wanted to reinstate this and also make sure you guys see it, cause I just can’t get enough of your lore content lol
"Mortals who view his realm would weep" Actually, I found when I was in Cold Harbor in ESO, i was taking stock of EVERYTHING around me. It was just so neat looking!
I imagine the princes gathering must be like: --- Vaermina: so, eating people amirite? Hircine: I dig it as long as the are good prey Boethiah: I like conspiracy Mephala: ah yes, plotting, that's the thing Dagon: as long as the plotting leads to destruction, I'm on it Sheogorath: chaos is the only reasonable thing Malacath: as long as the strong are always on top Clavicus: that can be arranged, yes Peryite: even the strong sucumb to my gift Azura: why do I bother? Nocturnal: I know why, but its a secret Meridia: as long as it doesn't disrupt the natural cycle of... Molag Bal screaming: I LIKE HARDCORE COMPULSIVE BREEDING! - everyone quiet - Sanguine: you know, that's why no one invites you to parties...
Him being friendly when opposed or whatever is actually not being friendly as than a passifying behaviour. He is deeply unsettled, because he isn’t used to resistance. It’s to appear friendly. Not to be friendly. But knowing that molag bal is actually terrified by some folks is just straight up satisfying. You know, because: don’t kill them. Let them suffer until they do it themselves.
Here’s a thought: it could also be the god of giving people their due in a strict meritocratic way. The strong survive, the weak are dominated. While this initially seems bad, Molag can be the god of achieving something with your own blood sweet and tiers. Whenever you overcome a challenge or reach a goal in life you give praise unto Molag since you dominated that challenge. In this way the Dragonborn/champion of Kvatch/Naravarine is a true champion of Molag Bal through all the quests and objectives they completed. Basically Molag Bal is the daedric prince of Victory. But taken to the extreme victory is domination.
Jackson Almodobar that seems more like Dagon, one part of his sphere is ambition. Also, worth the concept of the strongly surviving and weak perishing, that sounds a lot like boethiah if you ask me. I also wouldn’t say it’s about dominating or overcoming challenges either, its more about dominating mortals
I don’t think it can be understated how utterly vile Molag Bal is. Sure, princes like Mehrunes Dagon may want to render Nirn to a smouldering ruin, but Molag Bal wants to _break_ Nirn. He wants to break it, you, and everything else you know and love. He wants to grind hope and joy to dust and have the universe serve him in misery for the rest of time, just because it is his nature to do so.
Ah, Molag Bal, Lord of Subjugation, not exactly the sort of fellow to have a nice cup of tea with, but exactly the type of person to force you to drink the blood of your entire family and then ‘persuade’ you to swear fealty to his rule, y’know, he’s quite a mean one, is Molag, but hey, he looks pretty Badass!
He also has the best name of the lot. Its just so nicely paced and appropriate sounding. It can't be heard as anything but bad news. Just a generally great name.
God of madness remember we only ever seen one side of him the gentlemen side of him but sheo has a side that's allways one guard and is ever vigilant and not above useing this means to torture and kill. @@sirwaylonthe1st239 Canonically I don't think so, but if they could be! She technically isn't a daedra per say, she was a Magna-Ge, and they represent the same concepts (life and death), they both dislike undeath. The only issue could be that she supported the Ayeleids, who were pretty messed up
@@elessartelcontar147 He is her worst enemy, she has many times thwarted his efforts for dominating the world, in ESO his followers know Meridia as "The Shining bitch"
Of all the Daedric princes
There's one with shock and gull
His goal, the domination
and enslavement of us all
The God of Schemes
The Prince of Pain
The Captain of Corruption.
He tills the land of Tamriel
And sows the seeds of destruction
The planemeld is nigh, the planemeld is nigh
Our world will disappear.
The planemeld is nigh, the planemeld is nigh,
our doom is drawing near.
Chains of Darkness grip the land
And draw it ever near.
To his Nightmare, Coldharbor,
Where hope bows down to fear,
Tearing souls of innocents
into eternal pain.
While his Daedric minions sing praises of his name.
The Planemeld is nigh
The planemeld is nigh.
As Molag Bal commands
The planemeld is nigh
The planemeld is nigh
Our doom is now at hand.

It makes sense, that could be a reason why they want mortal souls
Dank they really afraid of Akatosh that much aren't they?

That is exactly why I like him.
That's why he's my favourite fictional god
@The King in Yellow you're right. That's relative, my favourite god then
It was this quest in Skyrim that actually had me feel afraid of the daedric princes it made understand just how powerful they can be.

@@j751 The greater good is how, you the hero have to face Alduin and send him somewhere else for a long while, you also have to face and kill countless bandits and other villains and zombies many times, so Vampire Lord or Werewolf grants you additional strength and power to face all these foes and help everyone. The voice for Molag Bal in ESO is incredible.
Molag Bal is the edgelord of the Daedric princes
Azura) or expect certain type of behaviour/worship (e.g. canibalism, kill undead etc.),
but not Molag Bal. He gives you a mace to crush YOUR enemies, whoever they are, and... he will be watching. So he basically likes protagonist AS IS and respects his right to have his own judgments as long as he is STRONG enough to defend them.
Makes sense and being a vampire is awesome

Sheogorath: chaos is the only reasonable thing
Malacath: as long as the strong are always on top
Clavicus: that can be arranged, yes

Mora : *appears late* Ooohhh ohh ohhh ohh... Breeding can be quite.. "Acknowledging"... I agree with Bal ☕
Everyone : Not again...
I am eating up these Daedric videos guys, keep them up!
That would be Boethiah tho
