Really appreciated the roster variety of Punch-Time Explosion. Felt cheap but it was still super cool seeing my favorite CN shows together like that. The "Smash clone" closest to my heart would most likely be PS All-Stars. I even played the open beta of it and got super excited when Ratchet was gonna be there! Okay, so out of every Smash clone that exists, this one was my personal favorite (despite its flaws). The roster was interesting at the time and unlike Nick all-stars, it had voice acting and a story mode (hopefully that changes in the future for Nickelodeon). My favorite thing about it was the "Synergy-attacks" where characters basically got a second final smash but it involves an assist character from another show (that's what Toiletnater did with Mandark). I kinda wish Smash copied the concept and had its playable characters team up with assist trophies for an ultimate attack. It would've been very cool to see certain characters like Link or Pikachu do a team-up attack with someone like Alucard or Waluigi.
even if they didn't have the correct voices at least they have new voices for some of the characters in that, recent Nickelodeon games don't have voice acting, other Cartoon Network games like Cartoon Network Racing had voice acting, Nickelodeon's Racing game had no voice acting either
Something worth mentioning is that the Cartoon Network box item is like the assist trophies, and everyone has a designated crossover partner that gives them a free pseudo-super when you grab it. Toiletnator’s for example is Mandark. Also Captain Planet’s is Dracula from Billy and Mandy
Tons of fun Smash clones never got out of Japan. Dream Mix TV World Fighters, Evangelion Battle Orchestra and Full Metal Alchemist Dream Carnival are pretty good, but Jump Super Stars/Jump Ultimate Stars is easily the cream of the crop. Aku is the "Mr. Game and Watch" of the game in that he has a lot of janky things going on with him. His transformation attacks (up, side, down special) won't fully stop until the animation ends. This means he can be hit "out" of them but he'll be flying and still using the move getting rid of any chance to combo against him. His up special particularly is very deadly because it has a huge hitbox and is his main kill move since laser isn't actually very powerful outside of the speed and range it has. Aku's weakness is that he is very predictable and his PTE could be better when compared to the rest of the cast. He won't be getting his PTE too often anyway since he's lasering all the time which produces no cubes. However Aku's broken ass moves and jankyness are more than enough to make up for this fault. There's also a diagonal and vertical laser tech he can use, although there doesnt seem to be much use in this since he has up special. Mostly a spicy tech.
8:20 It's funny how you teleported right into a bottomless pit. It wasn't even a large gap you had to jump across or anything. It was a break in the road that was barely wider than Dexter's character model.

And you get to punch Captain Planet in the face as well, that's never a bad thing in my book.
_And captain Planet is doing superb, he got the entire roster on the ropes, but what's this? A new DLC has arrived? And it's Commander Climate! And already Climate is changing planet for the worst! Now the fight is heating up and, oh no! Planet is down!! He may not be able to recover from this, could this be the end of __-the-__ Captain Planet?_
Nick all star brawl is basically what Punch Time Explosion wanted to be. Punch Time Explosion only lasted for about a year and then died off. All Star Brawl at least doesn’t pander to nostalgia and didn’t feel like a cash grab

Actually, all the VAs are professionals. It's just that only a handful of VAs do the entire roster. Aside from George Lowe, the entire voice cast consists of Tara Strong, Cathy Cavadini, Nolan North, Neil Kaplan, Keith Ferguson, Fred Tatasciore, Richard Horvitz, Grey DeLisle, Ben Diskin, and Quinton Flynn. And Cavadini, DeLisle, Horvitz, Diskin, and Flynn only voice one character each on the roster.
@@ama-ri_voxEd Edd n Eddy were a huge part of CN in the 2000s and honestly became the unofficial mascot of the network behind Ben 10, they should've been a priority along with courage as he's a beloved classic Cow and Chicken and I Am Weasel were also some legacy shows that should've been included. Even as an assist.
I remember playing this a lot with my friends on the original 3DS release and got so excited when we heard it was released on consoles. Seeing it now I never realized of how sort of dull the game was.
I like how the plot of the story mode has Ben looking for Vilgax, and yet you're able to play as everyone in the roster, including Ben AND Vilgax. Really shows how tacked on the mode is when the developers didn't bother making playable characters plot-dependent like in Brawl's Subspace Emissary mode.

my personal favorite Smash clone was Jump Ultimate Stars on the DS... I'm actually surprised they never brought that back in any capacity... and I don't mean Jump Force
A shame that not all voice actors reprised their role in both the 3DS and the console versions. Cartoon Network Racing on PS2 has all the voice actors reprising their role.
They should’ve added Cow and Chicken though in my opinion. That’s one thing I love about Nickelodeon All Star Brawl is that you get to fight Loud House characters as Ren and Stimpy. They just need to patch in Billy West voicing them.
Yeah but both games have the thing where the roster is a mixture of both classic and modern cartoons in general. Sure, we don't have Cow and Chicken among others but at least CN gave us Mac and Bloo fighting Ben 10.
Little Orbit is pretty cool, even if I don't like some of their games. When the Young Justice game was delisted, they actually reopened the official website so people could download a copy of it for free. I think it was recently taken down, though. I didn't like the game, but that was cool of them.

It’s super dope that they got George Lowe to voice the narrator :)) good ol space ghost
Ah yes. Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion XL. I got this game on PlayStation 3 and beated it 100% with all the trophies collected.
8:20 It's funny how you teleported right into a bottomless pit. It wasn't even a large gap you had to jump across or anything. It was a break in the road that was barely wider than Dexter's character model.
Toilenator and Father are from Kids Next Door
Man, I would have lost my shit if I knew about this one back in the day. I religiously watched most of the shows these characters are from and holy shit, you get to play as Aku! That would have been the coolest thing ever for me as a child... no, I still find it to be the coolest thing ever as an adult. And you get to punch Captain Planet in the face as well, that's never a bad thing in my book.
Tbh this looks like a neat little game that's actually good
Wish it was still up
I want to think that "Multiversus" is a sequel to this thing
You know what's even better about Kevin? His name is Kevin Ethan Levin. Kevin E.Leven. It actually works better than Ben Tennyson thematically.
The whole ui theme reminds me of cartoon cartoons theme
Of course I'd wanna be a with Matt instead of anywhere else.
This looks better than the Nickelodeon game.
for Smash clones, you should play Dream Mix TV World Fighters, and Onimusha Blade Warriors
That Trogdor final smash was so victorious. I wanted to shout "burninating the countryside!"
Happy (belated) birthday, Morales. Sick pick for Matt lol.
Nick all star brawl is basically what Punch Time Explosion wanted to be. Punch Time Explosion only lasted for about a year and then died off. All Star Brawl at least doesn’t pander to nostalgia and didn’t feel like a cash grab
I can't believe Punch Time Explosion has voice grunts for the characters when Nick Allstar Brawl doesn't. Even if some of the voices seem to have been done by random interns doing bad impressions
Fun fact the announcer is apparently the space ghost from space ghost
Ah yes, the Cartoon Network smash clone.
I've only seen this once, and it was Alpharad's video
It's actually a really good game. It has game cube controller support on wii.
You hear that CW? Don't mess with the Power Puff Girls
Wow, that Main menu/ Training room music is giving me some major Crash Bandicoot 2 Warp room vibes for some reason.
Blossom is the best character in this game. Thanks Alpharad
Grim Aku or Vilgax easily the best
You know if they made this game nowadays it would just be a Teen Titans Go game instead.
I can't believe they left out Ed Edd and Eddy and Courage the Cowardly Dog.
they weren't intended for this, buy what you're saying they left out every other Cartoon Network character at the time
@@ama-ri_vox Ed Edd and Eddy became the face of the network though. It's kind of like having an Adult Swim game without Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
@@ama-ri_voxEd Edd n Eddy were a huge part of CN in the 2000s and honestly became the unofficial mascot of the network behind Ben 10, they should've been a priority along with courage as he's a beloved classic
Cow and Chicken and I Am Weasel were also some legacy shows that should've been included. Even as an assist.
I remember playing this a lot with my friends on the original 3DS release and got so excited when we heard it was released on consoles. Seeing it now I never realized of how sort of dull the game was.
I remember Flapjack 😩😫 it's over of my Top 5 cartoons all-time!!! it's basically "what if SpongeBob was all creepypasta?" lol
that's no hydroxyl ion- that's my wife! BWAHAHA!
The dynamic stages are surprisingly nice.
I love that it's Space Ghost watching cartoons!
He unlocked every character with cheats. In normal story Vilgax isn't playable at all until you complete story mode
Man it's wild to see this game in action, I wouldn't mind playing this at some point, but paying a fortune just to own a PS3 copy of the XL edition is stupid really, I do hope the rumors are true though with a WB Smash Clone on the way, it could definitely be what this Cartoon Network Fighter wanted to be, but got robbed of it.
It's great to know that you like tmnt: smash-up. Really underrated.
My favorite smash clone. GODZILLA
OOF it hurts me that Matt doesn't recognize Codename Kids Next Door! But that's absolutely a generational thing.
At least they got the guy who did all the adult swim voice overs lol
I tried this out for myself, it does a lot well except for what matters most; the gameplay
Father and Toiletnator are from KND
Never even heard of this game, but I'd play it just to here George Lowe narrate the whole damn thing.
Both Flapjack and even Chowder are probably the greatest kinda new Cartoon Network shows we shall ever get.
Toiletnator and Father is from Kids Next Door. Pretty much the villains. Father got these creepy kids that pretty much never leave each others side while Toiletnator is just the joke character.
One game I would love to see is Boombots for the Playstation. It was one of the only games i had when i was really little and i played it non stop for a long while.
I'd love it if you could play the Billy and Mandy game that was on the PS2 and Wii
I wish robotboy was in this his transform music is hype and did he confuse father for prof. Utonium
They do look similar in with there head shape & he has a pipe, I think the professor had a pipe I don't know
Yo, that's George Lowe as the voiceover!
This menu music is way better than it has any right
Not gonna lie, Synergy Attacks are my favorite part of PTE XL. I kinda wish Smash did something similar.
5:10 Some of the characters mentioned are assist characters, so I guess they were repurposed. Notably, Kevin's PTE (Ultimate Kevin 11) was still a boss in the 3DS version, but Kevin wasn't playable.
my personal favorite Smash clone was Jump Ultimate Stars on the DS... I'm actually surprised they never brought that back in any capacity... and I don't mean Jump Force
A shame that not all voice actors reprised their role in both the 3DS and the console versions. Cartoon Network Racing on PS2 has all the voice actors reprising their role.
at least they have voices, Nickelodeon game have nothing
The narrator in the story mode is George Lowe, the voice of space ghost!!!!!
Now do Dreammix TV World Fighters next!
Can you believe Chris Pratt is about to voice every single one of these characters?!!?
He might just be the new Steve Blum.
@@EatWave that's disrespectful for actual voice actors, Chris Pratt is used for voices because Hollywood is stupid & have no clue what there saying
That Flapjack stage is absolutely wonderful. Good Lord, that show was ahead of it’s time.
I thought I was the only human on earth that thought about this game as soon Nick Smash was announced and highly talked about. I was more of a CN kid and this roster kills compared to the Nickelodeon version. It's basically the Kart Racers roster
Johnny Bravo sounds like hank hill lmao.
Heyyyy Momma, interested in some propane and propane accessories?
My smash clone was Jump Super Stars on the DS...i had NO idea waht was happening as it was Japanese only but it was GOOD!
Ultimate Stars was even better & crazier, so much so that I pretty much read/watched most of the manga featured there, with some exceptions (like prince of tennis).
