The one time “Featuring Dante from Devil May Cry” was a threat, not a feature.
The original was definitely a threat, even if that's why it was a feature.

@@Zerovin Servers for the game have been shutdown. You couldn't even if your ps3 worked. Parsec is played on PC, we use the RPCS3 emulator to play the game and Parsec which is a special program which streams your game to other people and let them play trying to minimize the lag as much as possible. It's a lot dependant on the location of the players, but it can be quite a decent experience. I'll leave to you an invite to this server if you are interested
Wow. The devs were actually trying, but everyone else was either completely unreasonable or insane.

Yup. And still the gamers will blame the devs for everything and not understand why things were the way they were.
It's funny to think how Super Smash Bros could have turned out the same way if not for Sakurai's drive and Iwata's support. I guess it also helped that the publisher wholeheartedly supported the project.
Smash also started out as a passion project with only 12 characters and built itself up over time, naturally.
PSABR tried to reach Brawl levels out of the gate with several times more 3rd party red tape.
Smash also had the benefit of plenty of first party support to lean on; Sony unfortunately had to grab from many pots to bring their big hitters back.
At that time Smash only had Snake, no one more... everyone else was purely Nintendo property... Playstation All Star just got into this market and tried to have a lot more third part characters right away... it was something impossible to achieve.
I think that this game should have been a "Melee" clone, focusing on its competitive side and with all new characters, like any fighting game.
In the second interation they would start to add third part characters and even sony characters like Kratos.
@@kissadev. Snake was included in Smash on Hideo Kojima's insistence. If he didn't have that relationship with Sakurai it would probably never have even been considered. I get the impression All-Star just didn't have that same passion to attract more developers. Even Bamco didn't have to include Pac-man but it seemed like such a no brainer.
@@RedPirateMercenaries Sony HAS a ton of first-party IP’s. Rather odd that they didn’t utilize them in a creative manner like Smash Bros ie Last of Us, Shadow of the Colossus, Ico, Wipeout, etc.
If All-Stars was made in the PS5 era, we should have Horizon, Bloodborne, Spider-Man, and other big IP’s.
Negotiating with Activision must feel like negotiating with The Flood...
A flood of degeneracy, nowadays...
Marine: "take my arm youll be like a regular infection form but with a really long neck"
Gravemind: "That is not how this works"
I like how this works in the sense of the Flood from halo or just an actual flood.
I remember people speculating this game's boss character would be Sephiroth. The irony.
If this game wasn’t a mess and made a franchise that very well could’ve happened in a sequel or two.
Wah waaaaaahhhhhhhhhh
And now look, the One that has sephiroth is actually smash
@@sophiasantiagogonzalez7608 thats the ironic component
The Serious Irony... •.•
This game is literal definition of "The wrong place, at the wrong time". Knowing that if this was relased a few years ago, with DLC updates, and could earn kills in the game, maybe this could've been... Remembered. The thousandth example that we're infact, in the bad timeline.
(I heard the Spyro End Credits theme, without even checking, I knew the video was wrapping up lol)
If they decided to start development a year after it would have been one of the first games on the PS4.
Things would have been very different with it being a relase title on the new shining console.
The fact that the gameplay was irredeemable made this game unviable no matter the roster.
I would absolutely love a sequel and I think itd do pretty good nowadays
Him saying a release nowadays would give Spiderman a realistic chance of appearing broke me
@@LeandroBarbksa naw, the gameplay was shit. But it would have a cult of it had beloved characters.
I know people who like this game because they grew up with it. At the very least that audience would be larger.
It would have at least done well enough to get a sequel.
“‘continuing the long, standing tradition of Sony not caring about Legend of Dragoon”
Legitimately one of the funniest, and saddest, lines I’ve heard on this series.
Great work as always, Mr. McMuscles.
amen to that my man
The legend of dragoon music at the end made me extra sad for that game
@@MrQwertysystem emulators are your friend...
that line hurts soooooo deep in my core, it will forever haunt me till the end of my days.

...But yeah. 😥
I kinda expected Matt to laugh it up at this game but hearing him give the proper dues of how Super Bot really did try but just didn't get enough just made me depressed again. Had a lot of good times just screwing around in this game with friends. The concept legitimately deserved a whole lot better, and it's sad that it feels like it's gone for good after this game.
@Digital Fates
Totally fine man, I think what would have been also worst for the game was IF 2 of those characters (more specially Crash and Spyro) got in.
If I remember correctly during that time Crash was going through his "Crash of the Titians" series and Spyro during his "Skylanders" series, and considering how most of the characters in the game already were pushed appear with there designs at that time (Like DMC Reboot Dante over his original Dante, Issac in his dead space 3 design, spike in his design from ape escape million monkeys, Sly in his thieves in time design), its safe to assume activision would have pushed to have them appear in all stars with them looking like how they were at the time.
It would have unfortunatly still caused an uproar due to most people not liking their designs nor the games the designs came from.
Maybe less considering we still get the characters but its pretty much of "damned if you do, damned if you dont" moment for Sony regardless if they got in or not.

How could Capcom NOT want another Rival Schools game?
With Capcom not taking on a Rival Schools Revival is classic for them, like I have been waiting for years for DarkStalkers to comeback along with MegaMan Legends, heck give me a sequel to Captain Commando you cowards at Capcom, heck i will take a Remaster Collection of Power Stone at this point.

Oof. I still kinda had fun with my cousins playing it though!
I worked on this game and I genuinely enjoyed the process of making it. The characters were a source of frustration because we couldn’t seem to ever get the characters we wanted, or even the versions we wanted because we had to promote their newest releases. But the team was great and really cared about making the best game we could. I also was introduced to the FGC because all the character designers were top FGC players. I still remember playing “clockw0rk” at Street Fighter having no idea who he was. Lots of good memories on this game.
Is that why the offbrand Dante was the one used
@@DeepSix-m8l Yep. The video itself even states this info in that it was capcom's decision and not theirs to use Dante from the reboot.
From looking at the ads I always found it strange that there were so many 3rd party characters introduced. Being the first game and all, would results have been better if the focus was all on 1st party characters like what Nintendo did with Smash Bros?
That was the saddest episode so far, they didn't deserve to fail :(
I really hope if Sony finally have the balls to make a sequel for the ps5
@@UltimateDragonX99999a sequel would flop against Smash Bros the only fighting game of its type worth playing.
@@Adamtendo_player_1 and yet it has so much potential to get a second chance as sony ips of ps5 as of now has gotten very big as of now.
Honestly, I still want a sequel someday - Sony's got so many interesting characters who'd be perfectly suited for a big crossover fighter and a lot of old PS series like Crash and Spyro have came back so would make perfect sense for a celebration of Sony's history, and Smash doesn't need to be the only big crossover fighter out there. Imagine a fighting game with Kratos, Crash Bandicoot, Joel from TLOU and Spider-Man beating the crap out of each other: that's the kind of matchup you just can't get in Smash.
I think Santa Monica is working on another game besides the new GOW. Hopefully, it's a new PSAS.
i just want it to be good
Well sony santa monica is working on another game besides GOW so let us psas fans pray
It'd be funny if sony marketed it as the "edgier" smash clone, where the whole gimmick is that you have all these "darker" and more "adult" charcters fighting with their other more child friendly characters like sackboy or spyro
The issue is that the main roster is made up of 3rd party characters. Unlike Nintendo which has a deep roster to mine from, stuff like Crash, Spyro, and Cloud are 3rd party and they are the ones that people mainly want. Spider-Man is in a weird position since Sony has some ownership over him but Marvel would undoubtedly need a cut as well. Sure they have Ellie, Joel, Nathan Drake, and stuff but they are all so similar that it would require a great team to differentiate them from "normal people with guns".
I join you in mourning for Rival Schools, Darkstalkers and every other sweet fighting franchise Capcom has decided to bury.
Star Gladiator and Power Stone 😢
Well on the flip side, Capcom is only a shadow of what they used to be. So if they did make a new RS or DS game, there's a good chance it wouldn't turn out good. Therefore, consider it a win.
RIP Darkstalkers ♥️
@@BigBoss-cg6tq Id argue that Capcom isnt doing bad financially but they certainly stopped trying to take risks and make new Ips or revive old franchises. Capcom mainly these days focuses on Franchises like Street Fighter, Monster Hunter, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry and Ace Attorney.
@@kylewood4488-b9r I think one of the main problems is how much more expensive and time consuming games are to make nowadays, there is just so much more work and effort they have to put in for a game, so it's a lot more of a risk to make a game from a more obscure franchise
Dude, dude, DUDE!
The Legend of Dragoon, the pain is still raw. They need to get a remake out.

I, too, choose to ignore PlayStation Move Heroes on PS3 ever existed.
Why and how they could mess up something as cool as the (arguably) three biggest mascots coming together to fight an alien horde puts a dagger through my heart
@@NovaGN They had to make it a fucking Move game.
You can't hit me with Legend of Dragoon music right out the gate like that.
Learning that Dart was gonna be in this game hurt.
Legends of Dragoon was the best and hearing Dart was going to be in pisses me off that they pulled the plug on this thing. Or how about Cloud a playstation character for every right and purpose appeared in Smash and not this. Wtf??
Honestly, this game deserves another chance. Everything that had to do with timing, rosters, and the mechanics of the game just didn't work and didn't age well. If they honestly go back to this at one point, they can get everything done that they simply couldn't do.
It also extremely sucks that because of the developer team not being a big shot, they couldn't get the roster they wanted to begin with. To me, crossover games are dreams that can come true in this community, so it sucks to see games like these and Jump Force not do as good as we truly wanted them to.
R.I.P All 🌟 Stars, you arrived before the world was ready.
From a diehard fan of this game: this video is GREAT.
I am part of the reaaally small leftovers of the PSASBR community, and I personally researched and tried digging into the game files and stuff to gather info and had the opportunity to interact with few devs. Ever since 2020 for some reason there is some talk about this game again especially in form of YT videos even from big UA-camrs, but many videos fail to deliver accurate info, or deliberately just shit on the game for the sake of doing it withouth focusing on what this game ACTUALLY had wrong (am I right, Caddicarus and Scott the Woz?)
Your video finally brings accurate info, spitting straight facts, making it informative about the absolute development hell this game was, and the possible flaws where the game actually failed for people. There is much more to talk about under this perspective because, personally, there is much I like about the gameplay but I recognize there is much to be worked on, but your video covers already a lot without coming off as judgemental, without constantly comparing it to Smash, without shitting on the game for the sake of it or because "just play Smash". When hearing about a new video like this I was scared it was going to be the same thing again: thankfully, I was wrong.
As a diehard fan, let me tell you: there is SO MUCH for badmouthing this game, so many things wrong and just straight up BAD. But people, especially in all the talks I see lately, always miss the points, always miss where the game is ACTUALLY bad and decide to just focus on superficial things that are not truly this game's faults. This is a bad game, a bad game that I love and want to see come back someday with all of its ACTUAL FLAWS solved. Your video makes the first step in informing people about this possible.
Good job in taking your time for proper research on this game. Take my like.
I loved the game too and played it religiously the summer after it came out. At the time I actually liked it way more than Brawl. Plus the GameFAQs community was one of the coolest and funniest game communities I have been in. Great times.
I would be super down for a sequel.
@@MrWolf120 Yep, I hope for a sequel too! We are currently building up a Discord server for people who want to still play the game. Servers are dead, but through emulation and Parsec/Moonlight it is possible to get a decent multiplayer experience, although not perfect.
I watched a lot of those videos you're talking about. I think I heard that part of the problem with getting 3rd-party characters is that developers wanted to give a current character rather than the icon the devs were asking for. This video covered the reason we had to get reboot Dante, but I heard that Raiden was chosen because of Revengeance being the recent title. It would have been great to have Old Snake.
I also saw another video claim that Square was suggesting that Lightning from FF13 be in the game because she was the more recent character. Apparently, the devs were also interested in Chun Li. A sequel should be made, but without the Smash style. Just do a 3D or traditional 2D fighter.
@@Dzzy123 What you say is true, except the Lightning bit. There are no confirmations about that. Seems like Square just didn't want to deal with Superbot that much.
Also yeah, devs were indeed interested in Chun Li, as well as Tombi, Ryu Hayabusa, and many more. Being interested in it tho doesn't meant they ever came to development phase. Many characters fell through negotiations. Just as this video stated already, they had truly a dream roster on the table, it's just... nothing worked out for the best, and it's not really the devs fault on this one.
The only scrapped character we KNOW of that reached development phase was Dart from The Legend of Dragoon. However, it didn't get far, they managed to get a mostly non animated model inside the game and try it out, but that's it, then DLC support got cut.
Very true but wouldn't say it's ACTUALLY Bad, lol x).
Ironic that the game where you can fight Cloud, Snake, Joker, Sephiroth, and more than likely Crash will fight each other is on a Nintendo console.
Edit: Kasuya from Tekken is now in. Crash's likelihood is nonexistent now.
Edit 2: Sora from Kingdom Hearts now! Nintendo what on earth???
Also ironic, maybe hilariously so, is that none of those characters had a stand-alone game on a Nintendo system at the time of their inclusion.
Like, how is Persona 5 not on the Switch? How? Is Atlus allergic to money?
Goes to show the ability of Sakurai and the respect the industry has for him. People trust Sakurai to do these characters right.
It goes to show that Nintendo and Sakurai are well respected as developers when even rivals like Microsoft want their characters in their competitor's game. The Smash team has proven themselves with each entry; this probably would have happened if each Smash title wasn't a best seller. Super Robot unfortunately did not get the chance to prove what they could do.
Crash is a definite shoe-in right now. I’d be really surprised if he isn’t one of those remaining slots on the Fighters Pass. I’m betting that the next characters will also be Ryu Hayabusa and (maybe) a new Pokémon/Zelda character. Otherwise my dream characters are Dante and Doomguy.
@@ahlyess He's definitely likely, but make sure you are not so quick to just pencil him in. We did that for Chrom in Smash 4 and Decidueye in Ultimate and look what happened!
My Unbiased Prediction regardless: Crash (due to importance to gaming legacy), Jibanyan (due to overwhelming popularity in Japan), and a Gen 8 Pokémon (Sakurai has said in interviews he always likes to include one character from very new games).
My Personal Picks: Chell from Portal and Crazy Dave from PVZ.
You can still hear Matt's frustration near the end of the video.
Some say he's still seething mad about the canned Rival Schools sequel.
To me, the story isn’t what went wrong with All-Stars, but what went right with Smash. Pulling off something like this is really really hard. Smash was only able to do it because (1) they had a god-tier designer and (2) 100% support from the very top. Without that, All Stars is about as good as could be expected.
Little bit of an info correction here, 3rd party contacts for smash started with melee but the development was to far along and to tight to get work done on characters like snake and sonic. (Yes both of those characters had been asked for by their respective creators to appear in melee)
Despite this games reputation , I honestly have sort of a soft spot for it (really wish Ps All Stars could get a sequel that improved on it's issues) , anyone else?
I would love a sequel. Especially now when we have so many great 1st party characters to be excited about. Like imagine Sam or Higgs from Death Stranding or Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn.
The game plays ok, it just has a lot of problems that need to be ironed out.
Oh totally, a Sony Smash Bros would be amazing if they just refined and ironed out the kinks of the battle system
I like this game. I think I may have even picked it up day one. The game has SO MUCH potential in it! You can just SEE the potential it had, and after watching this video, the developers tried their fucking DAMNDEST to give us the dream team roster we wanted....and it all just caved in on them.
This game needs a second chance, whether it be an enhanced port with more features added (like a bigger roster beyond just the base+DLC) or a straight up sequel. It just needs another chance to prove itself as a good fighting game. And yes, I know the fighting game angle can work. Ffs, look at how many fighting game IPs we have. All PS All-Stars needs to do is make itself more refined, and between that and a MUCH more iconic and better roster, I'm sure it would be a much better hit nowadays. It doesn't need to reinvent the wheel. It just needs to be good and fun, and I know it has that potential.
I'd be down. This was my summer game back in '13. Honestly at the time I liked it more than Smash Bros. Brawl. Plus the GameFAQs board was one of the coolest and funniest game communities back in the day. Good times.
This game will always be a guilty pleasure of mine. Wish we could get a sequel to it someday...
I can think of a LOT of characters that would be cool for it.

I find it funny that Eidos didn’t want to use their new Lara design because the new game wasn’t out yet, meanwhile Donte and Raiden were practically put in as advertising for their as-yet unreleased new games.
Seems like poor planing from Sony's end.
Yep, and Crash, Spyro, Lara Croft, and Cloud got revived many years later proving that it was poor timing.
The thing is, it could have done really well. The last Smash game was Brawl, which got a horrid reception from Melee players. If they had gotten together a proper roster and a better fighting game engine, the PSASBR vs. Smash wars would still be raging today.
@@12ealDealOfficial I mean... half of Brawl's roster is similar characters from similar worlds from similar style games. That argument is not realy relevant to why PSASBR failed.
Sony's poor planning suspiciously look like just a lack of care. Kinda seem like they liked ND's idea but didn't want to comit to it so they just created a hosh-posh studio to shit something out and if it's a hit we'l pretend we had faith in the project from the start. It was pushed out at a bad time, no real atempt was made to help it succeed(as in actually aquiring the dream roster people wanted) and it's support was cut faster than you can say Mario SMASH clone. Sony set up the game to fail...it didn't really fail it just...happened. With all the whining of SMASH fanboys and people unhappy with the roster the game had buzz, sold nad people saw potential. Sony didn't saw potential and just killed it.
Despite all set backs the chances were that PSASBR 2 would've been an awesome game. The developers would've had feedback on what to tweak, would have bigger budget and potentialy would've got to use the roster they wanted. However Sony seems were never really interested. And in relation to this your comment and remark enters the debate as it does seem Sony has a certain preference for the games it puts it's faith in and they aren't games such as PSASBR. If it ain't Last of Us, Horizon, God of War or something with a similar tone and style then Sony don't care.
@@Galloglaoch yeah it's really sad really, back in the PS2 and PS1 days they treated their game's as equals, heck Sly 2 back before it's release was promoted so heavily in the most passionate way and being a technical showcase kinda thing which is something you don't see anymore with them, save for recently with Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart for PS5 where it was made to not only be a welcomed new entry in the series, but being a Technical Showcase that Sly and other platformers got from back in the day.
@@Galloglaoch Come on, you can apply the argument of "giving preference to certain franchises over others" to any videogame company. The reason this game failed was because of the rushed development.
I believe if Sony tried again with there focus and head in the game... they can do it right.
I dont think so unless they inject a huge investment and seeing how Sony nowadays is focused on narrative games, I dont think they are interested.
They can totally do it.
However, Sony barely gave a crap about the game back then. Why would they try now, especially when single player/narrative focused games are their primargly goal?
But yeah, I would be so hyped if they made a new one.
And gave the creators an actual budget and not set them up to fail with lofty expectations.
The issue with budget is that most of it would be just for third party agreements. PSASBR is a competent game by itself, but relied too much on third party cooperation to actually work as a concept and the ones who did joined the game were interested in advertise their recent games, not include classic characters, similar to racing games.
Polite plea to Sony: Do it again, except properly this time!
"Hey sony remember that shitty game barely anyone liked? Make it again, but not shitty. K thx"

We’re inching closer to a Sly 4 episode lol. But seriously, though, this was another one I was excited about for a while. I still have the game and sometimes play it for a bit.
I was excited too, and then I hit a specific chapter where I realized they just completely ignore character development in a very specific character and it soured the entire rest of the experience for me, letting me see all the flaws I was overlooking because I was enjoying myself despite them. With the amount of Sony Characters now and the studios under the PlayStation Studios banner, it would be great to see another Allstars successor. I really wish it came back.
And Sony invite Koei Tecmo Games.
It seems Astro Bot is the closest thing to PlayStation crossover game and ironically Final Fantasy is still the only third-party franchise that isn't represented in the game
At least Ape Escape got some rep finally. Now if only we can get new game.
Last game we got was like what a remake on PSP?
@@FurryMcMemes Ape Escape on the Loose was the last one?

@@FurryMcMemes Technically I think the last game we did got was that one ape escape game they released for the PS3 that required the Playstation Move Controller.
We need a true follow up to Ape Escape 3. That game was criminally underrated.

Ah my soul we’ve could’ve gotten another Rival Schools game?
Damn I can feel the sadness at the end.... I gotta say though I liked this game and played it for a fairly long time. It breaks my heart to find out Abe was so close to making it. Not to even mention Rival Schools pitch... -sigh-
Man, even with a heavily expanded roster, I still think the super-meter mechanics killed the game long before roster complaints could be had.
I have to disagree. There’s a common complaint about Psasbr that says “only supers can kill, so normals are useless”. But normals are how you get supers, so that’s not true. Maybe if the timer’s at ten seconds normals are useless, but by then a lot of things are useless if you’re behind by multiple points.
The real problem is that if you don’t have enough stocks or meter, then a player with 2.5 meter in the bank has basically won. Killing them wont reduce their meter, so you have to desperately try to go for throws in a situation where getting hit results in a level 3 super, or pray that somehow they fire off a level 2 and miss.
The super system is something that needed more time in the lab. Its problems are not inherent, but those problems never got fixed, either. It’s pretty much a game where a lack of comeback mechanics makes the game unbalanced.
I always felt like the problem with All Stars compared to Smash Bros is the same problem that the DC movie universe is having compared to Marvel.
Just like with Marvel, Smash Bros got to it first and they set things up in a more logical way. Smash Bros started with first party Nintendo characters, and the characters they used were all roughly in the same wheelhouse as far as fanbase goes. So a person who likes Mario, for example, would also like most of the other characters in the roster. They layed things out properly to start with, and then as the series expanded, they kept that base they built and then slowly started branching out in to more diverse games with more specific fanbases. So you had a popular title, that proved itself already, that just introduced characters you liked, you may as well give it a try. Or, you have a game you already love, which added some new characters you're not as familiar with but its fine because they seem cool and you already have the game you love to play.
All Stars, like DC, came in late to the party, wanted to jump right in to what Smash Bros was doing, but didn't want to lay the ground floor and build up to it. Unlike with Nintendo characters, Playstation characters are much more diverse and isolated fanbases. The people who play God of War are not necessarily playing Jax and Daxter, and they're not necessarily playing Fat Princess, and they're not necessarily playing Twisted Metal, etc, etc, etc. So you end up with a very diverse cast of characters that doesn't really appeal to anyone but the most hardcore sony fans. Anyone who's played sony games will probably find 1 or 2 characters they like, but are unlikely to care about the entire roster. A roster similar to the 3rd or 4th Smash Bros game, but without the ground work of establishing itself with a strong cohesive base roster and then expanding outward to more niche characters. Just like how DC didn't want to lay the ground work for their movie universe by making their smaller stake establishing movies, and wanted to jump in with both feet to the deep end for their big team up movies right away because that's what Marvel was doing at that point and they wanted to do it too.
Valid
I enjoyed my time with this game.
I'm not going to call it great, or even good for that matter, but I got my money's worth of enjoyment
Yo I hear that Legend of Dragoon music, that there's some good taste.
I heard ape escape and tuned in HEAVILY

Dammit, Flame Shot for level 1, Final Burst for level 2, and Divine Dragoon form for level 3 would've been sick.
It’s my hope and it’ll probably never happen that someday this franchise will be revisited
I’m with ya, Give us a Psas sequel pls Sony!
I keep getting a feeling they might. Now's a good time 🤷♂️
To be fair, it's said Kojima wanted Snake in Melee but asked too late into SSBM's development for him to actually make it in.
I remember hearing that Sony and Hideo Kojima wanted Sonic and Snake, respectively, in Melee but they approached Sakurai too late in development for them to happen. So it only took one game.
Sony? You mean Sega
Nope
Nintendo reached out to SEGA in brawls development asking if they want Sonic in. At first they said no, then late into development SEGA changed their mind and apparently begged for Sonic to be added, and he was.
That's why he barely appears at the end for Super Space, and alot of his moves are reused
I am so glad kat made it in and played like a beast.
I feel like handing the keys of an crossover fighter with very iconic ips to a green studio was not the best move as shown with trying to put square reps in. But it's also foolish to expect them to absolutely nail it on their first try.
my childhood game
Ah the memories.
Playing it on the PSvita was the best
I never owned it but it was the game me and my friends played during the vacation period and it was the best
Don't say stuff like that, I was in college when this came out and refuse to admit I'm old
That ending was the sound of man who was doing everything he could to cling to what hope he had left in the world
I feel like the biggest problem of PSASBR was it was released a generation too late. Had the idea for the game happened back during the PS2 era, not only would they be more likely to get those wanted characters, Naughty Dog may of had a few people free to develop the game. We saw how amazing Crash Team Racing was, so who knows how incredible a ND developed PlayStation version of Smash Bros would of been. It may of still been a franchise to this day.
You using The Limp Bizkit version of behind blue eyes made me clap and say “WOAH” and scare my wife

Honestly at this point I think enough people know about that movie's production to know why it failed

That outro song really stabbed my heart, damn. It felt like seeing a friend out of the blue for the first time in too long.
Imagine Spider-Man beating the shit outta a rapping dog with absolutely zero mercy 😂
Give me a 2v2 PlayStation All Stars 2 game developed by Capcom, and I'm sold.
Just gonna shoot my shot here: Can you please consider reviving your gone too soon series and make one about vicarious visions since they just announced that they're going to be a blizzard support studio and no longer make their own games?
Damn, they were a great support in the development of destiny 2 pc
One would hope they are porting games with Bliz after the hack job that was Warcraft 3 Reforged. Anything less than that is a travesty.

Although I have played lots and lots of Playstation games in my time, I've never actually owned one of my own and always been more of an Xbox and Nintendo guy. But it makes me really sad that PS All Stars didn't thrive. The loss of so much potential, such a good idea and such solid competition for Smash Bros is a very sad thing for all gamers.
Technically third party characters were wanted by Sega and Konami since Melee, the development time was just to short

Great episode. The comment on Legend of Dragoon killed me. Can’t believe Sony hasn’t touched that franchise since its inception … incredible RPG
The Legend of Dragoon theme over the ending was the biggest nostalgia bomb of all.
Tekken 3 Paul Phoenix Arcade theme too
Crazy that Sony's Third Party success would actually come back to bite them in the weirdest way possible
That's because Sony has a culture of IP abandonment. It will be difficult for them to compete with something which already has star-power value.
Even a 60 year old woman like my mom knows who Mario and Pikachu are. But the characters in this game?
Uhhhh...
@@franticfranz22I know this comment is already two years old, but that kind of reminds that, despite all the great reviews and accolades it received, Astro Bot hasn't yet become PlayStation hit that some people were expecting it to be. I think Sony has a lot of trouble selling their own IP, though especially games that are aimed to a younger audience or that don't have a realistic artstyle, I mean, The Last or Us and God of War are mainstream hits, but we haven't seen any new games for series such as Parappa the Rapper, Gravity Rush, Ape Escape, Jak & Daxter, Sly Cooper, Twisted Metal, etc. Only Ratchet & Clank got a major game for the PS5 first year
I loved this game! Me and about 10 friends to this day all remember this game as being the game we had the most fun playing together. My biggest wish would be to just be able to buy it again on the newer consoles! :(
YO! I’ve been playing legend of dragoon lately and I instantly noticed that music in the background of the beginning of the video. Great game and thanks Matt!
I feel like with how many originals they have now they could have a really good roster to build onto the original.
I love this game, I wish it were re-released on PS4 digitally or on PS5, it was the sort of simple to understand but offering additional complexity if you wanted arena fighter that I always had fun playing with roommates in college. The super system while one dimensional actually made the game easier to pick up and play for me than Smash, plus being a playstation fan I recognized most of the characters and had an easy time picking main and secondary characters whereas with Smash I don't have as much of an attachment to most of the franchises outside of Pokemon.
The Legend of Dragoon needs at least a remake.
This was actually the first PS3 game I ever bought. I liked it a lot at the time, especially playing the 2v2 online with my brother (R.I.P. servers). That being said, I hope the person/people behind the decision to make super moves the only way to kill understand how badly they fucked things up for everyone. Smash Bros for Wii U/3DS was still two years away, and Brawl was a big middle finger to people who liked Smash as a competitive fighting game, so they had a golden opportunity to poach the fans Nintendo didn't want that will probably never happen again. Instead they strapped that opportunity to a rocket and shot it into space.
This video was 10 times more depressing than I was expecting.
18:39 The way you said Spider-Man made you sound exactly like the AVGN. XD
i'm pretty indifferent when it comes to playstation, but man my heart hurts for the people who were excited for and played this game. it really could have been a genuine rival to smash if it was timed better, or if sony didn't drop superbot like they did. this nintendo baby feels you guys - you deserved better 😔👊
