- Double your battery life by significantly reducing CPU and GPU clocks. Pain free defaults that work for the vast majority of games.
Explore the wonderful auto-performance tool made by Hytice.
IMPORTANT: Currently, this script only works with AMD 6800u devices!!!
Maybe there will be an update to work with 7840u once more units are out.

I don't know why you channel isn't getting the recommendation its worth, you're one of the only people continually talking about the wm2, you are highly underrated, and great videos
Thanks :)
It''s probably because I stick with one device and do not satisfy the hunger of people for ever more news and benchmarks ;)
There is so much more to talk about.
Agreed he is the best
Great video, keep up the good work. I haven’t tried Hyatice’s yet, will try it on the Win 4 this weekend
You will not want to switch back to anything else ;)
I'm still using an old version of Ciphray's auto tdp, haha. Never got around to changing it as I haven't used my max much recently. Thanks for the video! :D
This will make me get around to trying Hyatice's version soon.
Ps: let me know if you need help making friends with your neighbour's cat. I am an excellent cat operator lol
If ciphray's bat works fine for you, that's good enough.
Hyatice's is just way more convenient for me, as it does not require messing with settings.
I need no help making friends with that cat. It wants to be come friends with me and would instantly move to my house if I let that happen. So I'd rather need to find the balance of being friends, but not steal it from the neighbors and send it home at night and for food ;)
Thank you very much for this video. It's very interesting and helpful. :-)
I know you are here to inform and teach, but you’ve genuinely sold me on the win max 2 100x more than anyone who was ever sponsored by GPD. Keep up the good work
This was a great video. I was wondering on the differences between Auto-TDP and Auto-Performance. I'll be looking forward to this for when I get my WM2 2023 model, provided this works with the 7840u.
It needs some adjustments to work with the 7840u, but as soon as I get a unit which runs that APU, I will send Hyatice the required values (in case no one else does before me)
@ÃTrollÄššÑigga wattage is not the problem here. It's that 78040u provides values a bit different than 6800u.
If you want this to work with your 7940hs, contact Hyatice on Discord and send him he values needed, so the script can be made compatible.
you think a 7640u version would also be possible? Im happy to provide whatever data needed, as long as i understand how to give you that data lol@@mystechry
@@bauern
It surely is possible. I do not run any auto-perf on my 7840u however, as it is not needed as much any more.
@@mystechrywhat would you recommend we use on 7840u or do you still just run it stock? and what about window power settings do you have any insight on that
Well done another great video
Thanks :)
@Mystechry Thanks got a question how fo you activate it or it starts once you boot up windows? Or do I need to open it and leave it in background
@@70094kid I did not test this, but you could add this to windows auto start and see if it works.
Check google on how to do that. There are many examples out there. I would have to look it up as well
Hello. Thxs for the video. Tested here and is working really good. But Have some questions.
Is it necessary that I keep the prompt screen opened while playing some games? Is there a way to start with windows in background ?
Thxs!
Yes, the terminal must stay open. This is just a batch script and needs to run in the terminal.
You can minimize it.
I have not tried starting this with Windows.
Give it a try. Open Taskmanager and add it to auto-start.
Oh damned, sadly I bought a loki 256 and the processor it's a 6600U, no chance that it will work I guess... Amazing work anyway!
You can try.
There is no GPD device that has a 6600u, right?
So t might not work.
However, youo can join the GPD Discord and ask if Ciphray's bat will work.
He is still actively developing his version of auto-tdp and adapting his bat for multiple devices and APUs. So there is a chance that you might get some support there.
Asking does not hurt :)
Thanks for the informative video. For me, I am unable to get the watts lower after starting the bat. I have already installed and started running hwinfo and rtss. Am I supposed to do something within the bat after launching it?
Edit: I’m looking to lower my tdp while keeping my fps at 60 and in turn increase battery life
Are you running a 7840u device? The bat might have issues with that one
I ordered Win Max 2 with G1, question: does it consume battery power when connected to the network? I mean that this laptop already consumes little electricity (maximum 40 W), and the charging power from the network gives 100 W, and it is logical that when connecting the laptop from the network, at the maximum load of the laptop, it will be approximately 50 percent. the reserve from the mains connection, of course - this power will also charge the battery, but at this point whether the battery itself is being used, I cannot understand this, because in any case the charging rate will increase to 100 percent, almost the entire time during which I I plan to keep the laptop connected to the network, is there a function that, when connecting the laptop over the network, will automatically turn off the laptop battery? (for slower and less battery wear) if yes then is this feature available on G1 when connecting oculink port?(since company claims G1 also charges laptop) if there is no such feature it is very sad as for this line of laptops, it would be very useful, it would be cool if you figured it out, this is a very good topic for your new video, thanks for your attention and good luck in the tests)
Hi Mystechry, do you recommend the WM2 7840u over the Rog Ally ?
I think it is better in every way possible except the 120hz thing which is not necessary at all on a handheld.
100%. I use the Max 2 as my main device for gaming and work. There is no better device out there in a handheld format. Ally is cheaper, that's it. I do not care about 120hz, as I rather save battery live and play 30-60 fps.
@@mystechry It is indeed the best handheld. I'm just curious, can it play AAA games on ultra settings with 30-40+fps? Even if it was 800p. Will the 7840u be able to do that at least ?
30 fps/800p should be no problem.
I am not sure about Ultra settings.
Ultra is mostly more shadows, particles and anti-aliasing. All of that which does not make a huge difference on a handheld. I would recommend high instead. High should be possible for most AAA games. Medium no problem.
If you look at slightly older titles, your chances are higher.
So I'd say 30fps/800p/high(medium) is possible for every game which exists.
40 probably as well
@Mystechry Thanks got a question how fo you activate it or it starts once you boot up windows? Or do I need to open it and leave it in background
You need to open it and leave it in the background.
You might put it into Windows auto start.
Still, the terminal needs to be open.
@mystechry thanks my guy imma give it a go I feel this is simple rather then cipheralbat version but will see can't knock what I ain't try
Thanks for the tech
@@70094kid I just have read a message from Hyatice.
It is not recommended to put this into auto-start, as it modifies your cpu and gpu clocks and outside of games it might have negative effects.
I am also not sure if it correctly starts rtss and hwi if in auto-start.
So better do that one click manually.
Put it into your start menu and it's just as much as hitting the Windows key and touching the right area on the screen. That is how I do it
@mystechry I noticed you didn't mention being plugged in or unplugged had a affect on it buy I feel that auto perf is for me cause I want to open it and let it run. I use the overlay you suggested and I use handheld control panel but I would rather just use overlay with auto perf and enjoy it.
@@70094kid You can do that.
Just use auto-perf and the overlay.
auto-perf starts the overlay automatically.
auto-perf does not care if plugged in or not.
This hsa nothing to do eith handheld control panel. you can run it or not. Simply do not run both auto-tdp solutions at the same time
in my case , MA float disable turbo + ciphray epp 0 still give me best frametime & lowest tdp
You combine both?
That's not recommended. Interesting that you get the best results running both at the same time.
@@mystechry only use ciphray for turbo boost max limit, and epp control, when i use your auto performance ii dont know why but frametime fluctuate frequently
@@killthemessenger84 Ah, I see. So you use the bat file for the settings and Motion Assistant for the gpu float. That is valid.
Nice. I just got a GPD win 4 and was wonderinf are there any floating windows that can show temperature, battery life?
Im gonna do the Honeywell thermal pad replacement job that you showed in a previous video.
Here: ua-cam.com/video/gvKwgH7g5VA/v-deo.html
Seems less "complicated" than Cyph tool will it work also on the new win mini (8840u)?
Probably not unfortunately. It did not even fully support the 7840u.
However I am not using or missing this tool any more. The 7840u is way more efficient than the 6800u Max 2, taking into consideration the total system power draw. Also it feels less greedy. So I do not think this tool is as much required any more than it was with the 6800u.
Thank you! By any chance do you know how to change the refresh rate when using?
This sets my refresh rate to 40FPS, how i can change that to 30 or 60? It ignores the games settings
The auto-performance script does not alter frame rate at all.
Open Riva Tuner Statistics Server and check, if the FPS is set there. The bat starts RTSS and HWI automatically.
@@mystechry Thank you so much it was that!!!! Thank you for helping this noob peep!, the Riva Tuner statistics had 40 limit :)
@@jonathan2521 Hahaha, we all have been through that once ;)
Tell me please, does the Power Mode tab work and does it really change operating modes? I didn't notice any difference between Balanced and High performance and Max performance.
Should this change the operating mode?
What do you mean by "power mode tap"?
FN+Shift?
Yes, that does work and togles your tdp between 15 and 24
@@mystechry I mean hyatice, in which when you press [M] the Power Mode changes. Does it work and change anything?
@@Jengaloblog I do not use the script on the 7840u. It wqas never updated for that one. So it might not work
If i set tdp in auto perf bat to 15w or whatever how do i stop it from apu from drawing 15w even though it is my fps cap of 30? I read the readme but see no "stop ramping" option? Also how "uninstall" or completely undo changes made by auto perf? Thanks
To undo changes, simply restart.
It does not persist changes unless you saved them manually.
To uninstall, simply delete the folder it is in and download again for a fresh install.
It is just a script running and does not install to your system.
I do not understand your first question, sorry.
The script will clock down as much as it thinks it can. If the game needs 15 watt at 30 fps, then the script will not go lower.
@@mystechry sorry my first question was pretty much if in the auto perf bat i set the tdp to 15w, how do i stop it from drawing 15w in less demanding games where the apu doesnt need to be using 15w to reach my fps cap of 30? The readme mentions a "stop ramping" option but i did not see that anywhere in the bat.
@@ultimategohan1551 That is very strange, as I always run the bat at stock 24 watt configuration and it only uses as much power as it needs.
Did you press 'D' to enable debug output? If the FPS shows '0', that means, that either RTSS or HWI are not installed properly.
Regarding that ramp up thing you might want to press 'M' to cycle to 'power saver'. It is not required, but maybe it helps for your game.
If that does not help, maybe try reducing the offset to 0. Maybe something runs off because of that. It's not a perfect algorithm and maybe it has issues with your particular game.
Thanks for the Video. I downloaden auto-perf and tried it. Sadly it does not work probaly for me. I have the same settings like you in the video, but in all games (i have tried god of war 4 and Witcher 3, both at 40Hz and 40fps) my GPU clock stucks at the Minimum set of 533Mhz. TDP ist high (about 20W) and FPS bad (around 32-38). With fixed TDP to 12W and fixed GPU to 800Mhz via Motion Assistent i have got always in both games stable 40fps. Do i something wrong with auto-perf? Thanks.
It was not updated for 7840u units.
Go with Ciphray's auto-tdp if you want to use a program like that.
I do not use it on my 7840u, since that one is way more efficient than the 6800u.
@@mystechry
I have a win max 2 6800U 😅
Strange that the GPU is stuck at 533 MHz (although I have the same settings as you) This is probably the reason for the poor FPS and high TDP, as the CPU tries to compensate to reach 40fps, but can't quite manage it without a higher GPU clock.
But, if you don't have a quick idea what the problem is, then I'll try auto-TDP.
Thank you! 😉
No, I do not have any idea why auto-perf does not affect your gpu clocks.
Test auto-tdp and see if that woks. If it does, maybe try auto-perf later again. Maybe some magic happened and flipped a switch to make it work
Ughh.. is this the performance I can expect to get with gpd win max 2 7840u? I thought to get at least 60 in handheld.. 😕
It depends on your game and settings.
This was a test to demonstrate how low you can get.
If you increase the tdp, you can get 60 for quite a few games, simply not the latest AAA ones maybe.
@@mystechry Oh good to know.. rock on! Great vids!
hi you try and compare all auto tdp apps? mean handheldcompanion, hyatice , autotdp cyphray?? can you doo that movie compare and go best auto tdp???
Maybe, but it is nothing I have planned.
It would be quite a lot of work and I do not even use all of those tools myself.
So do not count on that.
I have 0/0 fps displayed both in hayatice and autodp (but hayatice seems to work, at least it obviously changes frequencies) and I don’t know how to fix it
I would try to uninstall RTSS and HWI.
Then follow my tutorial video about 'how to get that overlay'.
If you follow that, you will properly install RTSS and HWI, so they will work well with the bat files
I reinstalled many times, different versions, but it did not help. The only solution that I found is to put hayatice in windows autoload and when it loads it starts hwinfo and rtss itself, this is the only way fps is displayed correctly. Moreover, autoload should be only through shell: startup, with a similar launch through the task scheduler I still get 0/0
did it now support the 7840U devices like GPD win 4 2023 ?
Sorry, no.
what is display resolution for win max 2 for this test?
800p. Max efficiency
tell me how to run this script?
Download, unzip and execute the bat file.
Before that, you need RTSS and HWI installed.
Check the links in the video description, as all the required links are in there.
Hi! this works for linux?
No, unfortunately this is only a Windows script.
For Linux check this: github.com/ShadowBlip/OpenGamepadUI
This is the best you can get for Linux. I don't thibk it has auto tdp but with 7840u and above I do not use auto-tdp anyways. It's way less important with more recent APUs.
Bro what is the password?
Yes😂
