This form factor is still, by far, my favorite for Windows based gaming handhelds purely because it seems to do the best job integrating the mouse/track-pad which is really pretty necessary for navigating the Windows UI at least until Microsoft get serious about that handheld mode that was rumored a while back. Definitely interested in this refresh.

Hi Phawx! Thanks for the update :-) Side note: your audio seems to be slightly out of sync for me. In case it isn't my system: if you have started recording directly to PC, instead of through your camera or if you are using a wireless transmitter, you might need to sync it up.

For good digitizer use, you need a good digitizer. Unless Microsoft releases the surface pro screen tech they're using for the new slim pen 2, then it doesn't matter, at least not for art

God of war 3. 60 fps. on a handheld. One of my favorite childhood games is finally playable at 60 fps on a handheld, (for the asus rog ally since that's afforadble with the 7840) through emulation. Amazing

@@TBMartin I think most people know ps3 emulation and indeed xbox360 emulation has beed possible on handhelds for a long time. I think the video is aimed at showing 60fps for difficult titles like god of war, that is the big difference Phawx is trying to show.
Most people want to see PS3 top titles at 60fps at 15W TDP on handhelds, Thats impressive performance to me.

@@megajatt123 It's going to be pretty close, probably within a couple of fps. The overall difference in performance will be small. The Ally has 7w more power budget (35w docked) but the max has 7500MT/s ram speed and 32gb of ram. The Win Max 2 is also significantly more expensive.

Red Dead Redemption runs way better on the Xbox 360 emulator in the Canary release. I saw 45fps with the same CPU.

Yeah I was watching another video and they had a average of 48fps with about 22 or so watts to the CPU. If the clock speeds of the CPU and GPU had been increased, you could probably get locked 60fps in Red Dead Redemption 1.

I've held off also..the deck is still a beast. The market growing at this rate is something I've dreamt of since the old windows ce devices. I always knew there was some demand I just didn't really expect it to take off around the world like this. Waiting right now is definitely not a bad idea. why would you clock your GPu at half the speed it can run? Do yourself a favor and dissable the CPU turbo. Or even better max all cores at a frequency that is lower then that. That way your cpu will use way less power and smoother 1% lows also. Your igpu will have access to more power and you might be able to let it run at its full 2.7 GHz
