We should add that there's a major distrust, among hunters and the DNR. I believe it's deeply rooted, and will take much effort on their part, to fix that. I might or might not, ad lib to that, through an email. Because it is so long. Anyways, I appreciate the conversation. As always, thanks😊
if you want to Buck tags you have to buy them both at the same time you should be able to buy one and if you shoot a buck go buy another one maybe I want to go bow hunting if I shoot a buck then I can't buy another tag for gun season that's ridiculous
Yeah the rifle shotgun Zone don't make much sense anyways if you can use a rifle to hunt coyotes and woodchucks in Southern Michigan then what's the difference when it comes to deer season
If it's not all about the money then why do landowners now have to have a small game license to hunt on their own land before they can buy a buck tag or any tag
Youth hunt is flawed in so many freaking ways. I could go on and on and on, about how it is wrong. At least the way it set up as of now. And I know damn well I'm not alone! So change it, to doe only! Or get rid of it all together!
Yeah they didn't listen to The Hunters about having a wolf season and now look what happened to the deer in upper Michigan hundreds of videos I watched on UA-cam video hunting videos claim there's very few deer in the up
Chad sounds like a freaking politician, when it comes to the youth hunt. He's assuming all mentors are good people. We all know that's not the case. Show me the numbers to back that up Chad! On his own admission he can't. If I take a kid out fishing, I don't promise or offer them the biggest fish in the lake. But somehow they still get hooked, (no pun intended) on fishing. Same thing should apply to deer hunting. No reason, absolutely none, why it wouldn't. So much they can learn from taking a quality doe. And a good mentor can show them all that 🤷
I don't agree with much of anything the DNR does it's all about the money for them they make it sound like they care about the deer herds and the hunters. You know about managing the deer heard you give out so many doe tags and I buy a double Buck tag for instance that's my take get down towards the end of the season I should be able to take a doe with my tags I know in some areas you can do that but I'm saying it's my tag should be my choice what I shoot in the county where you're giving out doe tags anyhow
In the way our governor wants to take all the guns away from us they don't want to take away from the hunters how many of you hunt with an semi automatic weapon oh some kind
Their vote tomorrow could be more important than the retention in the future is the meaning I meant by that. Introducing them today, to protect tomorrow. If limiting a youth's harvest would make a grown man feel better, I honestly don't care any which way. Those big bucks the hundred youth harvest a year isn't an issue, besides socially. Social science is unfortunately a thing, much like politics.

46 % of hunters in Michigan do not trust the DNR as stated in their own survey report

So much they can gain by shooting a quality buck, Or any deer, or any size fish.

If the intent of the youth season can ensure a vote to protect our rights and a heritage, it's important to me if they decide to hunt or not
Thanks for your thoughts! Data shows it doesn’t help retain hunters though as currently structured. We will discuss retention next week stay tuned!
