If you move here you must leave your voting habits where you were. You people have created the mess which has become New York/California/Colorado/Chicago by voting criminals into office. Texas has zero use for that sort of thing. Come to Texas and become conservative, fine. But dont come here and screw things up here. We have Constitutional Carry here, if you dont like guns dont come here. If you want open borders, dont come here. New comers need to change, not Texans.

I understand you will assume that, and it is a good way to welcome people our FREE states telling them: Remember why you left, and do not bring that crap over here... in this case seems that Louis is exempt of that rule, but we can never assume and do not say it, we have to protect our freedom.
Congratulations Louis for finally deciding to move your headquarters to a state that appreciate businesses and respects boundaries, make sure you pay your kidnappers what they ask before you leave or you will be receiving notices even in Texas, considered it a ransom for your freedom.

I started my business in New York and came to see that New York doesn't want small businesses to succeed. It became completely obvious when the NY tax department couldn't pay themselves as much as they wanted with their existing budget. So they started mailing out yearly extortion letters to every business saying we had to confirm our current address and mail it back with a mandatory $50 filing fee and serious penalties for non-compliance. They classified it as a "filing fee" so the NY tax department got to keep the money rather than it going into the state coffers. While not that much, I took it as a sign it would just keep getting worse and moved my business out of New York. I have no regrets. That was in 1994.

Louis, I understand that this move for economic survival has been long in the making. My Grandparents on my mother's side lost everything in the stockmarket crash. However they purchased a citrus Grove outside of Lakeland FL. Sight unseen in 1928 only a brochure and property deed in hand. They left New York with my 2 and 3 year old uncles in a 1921 wore out Ford Truck and a tent as the Grove had no house on sight. They arrived to find a swampy piece of land underwater. There should absolutely be an exchange program for people and businesses.
People like Louis apply to move because they like Texas and some idiot applies to move to NY because they like people like Cuomo.
Same with immigrants, people who love the core values of America apply to move in and people who hate freedom of speech and capitalism (not corporatism) apply to leave.
And we can just exchange without any cost to that person. And people are happy or get a reality check, but they get what they want.
Of course it's important to have all kinds of people with diverse ideas and personalities, but it's vital to have similar core principals and values that everyone agrees on, even if you have difference of opinions on everything else, because without that all you get is chaos.

    • @DefinitelyNotAMachineCultist
      @DefinitelyNotAMachineCultist 2 роки тому +1

You could even, at the risk of being overly reductionist, boil down the core value to _belief in the importance of establishing & protecting mutually respected boundaries._
Seriously, this is like the heart of what some people call the “social fabric”.
It's the basis of personal boundaries, social boundaries, and property boundaries.
It also highlights the role of consent in shaping them.
Any functioning person gets the gist of this most of the time on a practical level.
Trouble is, things seem to get blurry when it comes to violating these boundaries “by proxy” via state action.
Quite a lot of people seem fine with that. Often for the flimsiest of reasons.
That, and believing that transgressing them is morally acceptable because some self-appointed majority (or even a technocratic elite) believes it to be so.
You can't just have mobs choosing to ignore the aforementioned value and deciding to loot someone they deem an “oppressor”, on a whim, in the court of public opinion…
That's how you get destruction of wealth that makes everyone poorer.
Whether the looting is DIY or state-sanctioned makes little difference…
I've found that asking whether a simple majority should be able to override this right is a good litmus test for checking if someone is a closet commie.
The entire point of things like constitutional constraints is to be a check on the power of government, _including a voter majority utilizing that government._

@@steamedclam1 It's a pattern you notice everywhere once you start to see it.
Look at all the complaints these days (across the globe) about overreach by governments and people who want to make everything about politics or blur the lines on commonly accepted categories and definitions for seemingly no reason.
The common thread seems to be an inability to acknowledge boundaries, or a desire to destroy them, for personal gain or as a weird power play.
You can't even really live as a human being if you can't have boundaries between the different aspects of your life.
Between the private & the public.
Between work & the rest of your life.
Between the personal, the social & the political.
Between local-level politics where you have a huge amount of sway & politics at a national or international level where you have very little sway.
      Ultimately meaning:
Point 1: People trying to dissolve those boundaries against your will are not your friend, regardless of the mental gymnastics (the “greater good”, etc.) that they'll use to try to justify it.
Point 2: Anyone who agrees with the previous point _usually_ is. They're the sort of people you can build a community with. Not a guarantee against them later crossing you, but a good litmus test to start with before you know them personally.
