I don't have instagram and don't want tyo sign up for an account...is there any other way to contact you so you can do a tour of my new apartment here in NYC? Thanks CashJordan!
I've heard about this and it's so weird to me, that people can just hand their lease down to a relative like that, for 100 years if they want to. It's awesome! But also strange. 😂 Although, I guess it doesn't really feel very fair to everyone else in NYC who are struggling to find a place they can afford. That would suck.
My mom has a beautiful 2 bedroom, dining room, alcove studio, eat in kitchen bathroom and 30 ft foyer with 15 windows ( new double pane and screen) Beautiful trim , original 100 year old doors . First floor facing a gorgeous flower filled courtyard. Fully gated , intercom phone and camera protected. Over the years my dad has plastered and painted beautifully redid the ceilings . Put entire new kitchen cabinets and appliances. Retiled and remodeled the bathroom with new floor. There are 5 closets. He sanded stained and varnished the parquet floors. Installed all new wiring, light switches light fixtures and ceiling fans. The house is fully air conditioned and great heat . Thirty foot shelves line the foyer and we have a small butler’s pantry. Mom has lived there a long time. She pays $840. Rent stabilized tenants have the right to add an additional person to the lease. Just one , and that’s how it passes down.
Blissful Ignorance and Lucia (in the comments) have absolutely won the lottery!! It's a beautiful apartment in the video. I never thought I'd like studio apartment, because the ones I've seen were rented by guys and looked terrible. She has done an amazing job. It almost doesn't look like one room. A screen in between the couch and bed would make a bedroom. Rent controlled!! She can have a pet! Dream apartment! It would be a perfect apartment for someone in a wheelchair. No carpet, no doorways, low windows. Except for the bathroom it's perfect. I hadn't thought of a studio apartment as workable until now, because the ones I've seen are tiny and icky. Unfortunately, apartment bathrooms are a nightmare for wheelchair users. I have muscular dystrophy and am in a wheelchair, so I'm always thinking about these things when seeing a house or apartment anywhere.
@@blissfularrogance3529 there isn't a cap on the amount. They just have to be relatives. My cousin has both her daughters and one grandchild on the lease. You can have all your children on the lease, most people got these when they had young children.

I live in Washington Heights and, crazily enough, my roommate just signed for a rent stabilized studio apartment directly on Riverside Drive & 81st Street for $1250 a month !!! I've heard of these zeitgeist moments but I didn't think they existed anymore. He happened to be looking on the internet and the rental popped up on the page he was on. He called immediately, insisted on seeing the apartment, had all his finances together and 2 hours later, signed for the apartment. They had over 200 phone calls in 45 minutes. I helped him move in yesterday. It's a stunning apartment. Quiet and with views of Riverside Park. I still can't believe he landed this. He'll hang onto this for the rest of his life.

@@SDguy3030 Landing a rent stabilized apartment in the best, most beautiful area in Manhattan is like winning the lottery. He found a $3K studio apartment for $1250K a month. Because he's rent stabilized his rent won't increase 15 - 30% a year like most renters. He's locked in to low rate increases. I know many wealthy people who make more than $1 million a year and they still choose to rent. Let's say they spend $8K a month for rent. If they bought an equivalent apartment they'd be spending $8K a month on property taxes and building maintenance. I used to think they were throwing their money away too but they explained to me that if they bought a place they would be tying up their money for no reason. There's a glut of luxury apartments in NYC that sit empty for years. They'd have their money tied up, they'd be paying property taxes and building maintenance, and they'd have no guarantee they'd get a return on their investment when it came time to sell, plus they'd have to pay capital gains taxes. New York will screw you over. Make no doubt about that.
I live in East Flatbush in Brooklyn. We have LOTS of rent-stabilized units over here. Fabulous floors, sometimes sunken living rooms, herring-bone patterned floors, etc. Come see us out here! I'm in a stabilized two bedroom, two bath, giant balcony that's super private, and I LOVE my neighbors. I feel so blessed. Been here 8 years and no plans to move. !!
She did a fantastic job! I have to watch this again in slow motion! Hope she could put some of the things she purchased she has some really great ideas.. beautifully larger space or home! 🎉

(and i’m from ohio) she’s also done a spectacular job of decorating and organizing her space. she has everything! great video!
I see a lot of complaints but she lives in the West Village of Manhattan, in a studio. $1938 is a crazy good deal in this market. I just came home from a week's worth of apartment hunting and a "cheap" studio in that area is 2400-2500 plus broker fees. The only way to spend 2000 a person or less in that area is to share a 2/3/4 bedroom. And many are crappy. Most had terrible bath or kitchens that haven't seen repairs in years. Here, she gets an entire place to herself.

My first NYC apartment was in a building that had recently converted from rent stabilized to market rate. In chatting with some of the more tenured residents, I discovered that they were paying half as much as I did for the same or even bigger units. While none of them complained about the rent, they did express the fact that as rent stabilized tenants, the landlord wouldn't do anything for them. Their appliances were old, the paint hadn't been refreshed since they moved in, etc… It's great that Sarah took it upon herself to make upgrades to her apartment. She lives in a very enviable neighbourhood and for a reasonable rate. We would all love to live in the West Village.
Sarah is so sweet. I love what she has done to make her apartment look good, and be a cosy place to live in. May you have many, many happy years in your NYC apartment!
I love what she’s done to fix up the few issues with the kitchen. Stick ‘n Peel is pretty much the way to go with renters. She’s really able to make her apartment her home. It has pretty much everything. Since the apartment’s one closet is so tiny she’s got storage from her bed, couch, kitchen cupboards and the open closets in her bedroom area. I love these videos for those of us who can only afford the small apartments and have to learn how to make your place home without breaking the lease by damaging the walls and cabinets with much needed improvements.
Hey man-correct the title of your video---it is awesome but she pays more than double what you say in the title. Besides that - this is an excellent video-her apartment is great-she is a natural in front of the camera-I'm glad for her finding such a great home!
I love this girl's personality. Self deprecating and not trying to be cool at all. Refreshing as most of these apartment tour type videos have people who are so nervous about how they will be perceived.
That was fascinating, much the same way tiny house videos are fascinating. I love seeing how real people make small spaces work. Really charming apartment and host! Keep this series going!

This is a really nice place. I would be totally happy living there. She must save a lot of money, and with that, she can travel as she wishes. She did a great job in decorating and fixing it up.
The $800 is for the cheapest apartment SHE was aware of ($825, actually), but good for her! This place looks good and she’s done well to make it work for her.
I would never leave either! They can only raise the rent 2-1/2% a year is fantastic! The lowest I have ever heard was 5%. I love how she did those peel and stick counters, floors, and back splash. It makes something not so nice look so much better. Changing the shower head was good to. You’d be so surprised how easy it is to do that and how cheap it is.
Actually ever year there is a vote to decide on the increase. It can be higher than 2%. The % varies for a 1 year vs. 2 year lease. This year landlords are advocating for a 16% increase. Note, I'm not sure if the rule has changed but once the rent hits 2500, the apartment can be destabilized. What some landlords will do to quickly destabilize the apartment is do major repairs between tenants. Also note, there are a lot of unrented rent stabilized units that landlords keep empty. This is particularly true in quickly gentrifying neighborhoods. Rent stabilized apartments are rare because landlords are constantly leveraging loopholes to destabilize them.

She lives in a very enviable neighbourhood and for a reasonable rate. We would all love to live in the West Village.
Not all of us. This is cute, but it's in Manhattan, not Brooklyn, a deal breaker for me.
Absolutely love this apartment! So much space in the bathroom, and I love how the clothing racks fit perfectly on each side!
Sarah is so sweet. I love what she has done to make her apartment look good, and be a cosy place to live in. May you have many, many happy years in your NYC apartment!
What a nice person. Opening her home for the world is courageous. It's amazing to see a realistic home and not a decor magazine. It's adorable.
Wait, so she's paying $1938, not 800. Title is misleading as hell.
I'm a little confused by that.
lol hahahahahv yes i was about to say that as well.
Yeah, definitely misleading.
Hey man-correct the title of your video---it is awesome but she pays more than double what you say in the title. Besides that - this is an excellent video-her apartment is great-she is a natural in front of the camera-I'm glad for her finding such a great home!
Exactly
Always happy to see anyone making it in NYC. She seems like a very nice lady. Definitely blessed that she found such a nice inexpensive apartment.
This is my favorite! She's a real person with a regular job that made it work beautifully.
I love this girl's personality. Self deprecating and not trying to be cool at all. Refreshing as most of these apartment tour type videos have people who are so nervous about how they will be perceived.
Oof, did you see her bookshelf though. That + Reddit, I don't think she would be pleasant to be around at dinner parties...
@gasstationpeanuts1814 Ehh, honestly you're the one that seems unpleasant here.
The under the couch storage & bed storage was AWESOME! Never saw that coming!
What this lady has done with this apartment is nothin short of incredible! Not only as she lucky but she put in the WORK!!!
Love seeing how people actually live in their apartments!! Nice
This is what I love about NY appartments. the space management and just little ideas like the floor tile to make it look better.
She is super cool. I'm happy for her to have found this place and be so happy.
It's nice to see a normal, lived in space for a regular New Yorker. 👍🤠
That was fascinating, much the same way tiny house videos are fascinating. I love seeing how real people make small spaces work. Really charming apartment and host! Keep this series going!
Cash, I absolutely loved this video. I’d love to see more of this type….Keeps us NYC lovers hopeful about finding affordable and sensible apartment in beautiful NYC
Agreed 100%! Plus I like that it hasn’t had crappy renos & grey-ifyed the apt, but kept the OG details! Jet 🧡🎸🎶⚡️🏍
Great video and so interesting to see what can be done in a small space when you use the space efficiently.
I live in a rent stabilized apartment in NYC too my rent is 850 per month. It’s one of the new buildings, it’s beautiful and I have a gym, rooftop & security.
Why DO YOU'LL WANT TO LIVE IN NYC, SOOOOO BAD?!!!!!!
@@kerryalfaro9437 because it’s an amazing city with great opportunities.
You know, shes just a super cool and chill person. Congrats on your apartment!
I'm so impressed with the rent controlled apartment and what she did with it. She fixed it up perfectly and it's got the light, the organization, and the comfortable living and sleeping spaces. Thanks Cash, for showing us this nice woman and her very nice apartment.
this seems like such a comfortable and loved home. an absolute dream
This would be a helpful guide for anyone considering a small studio apartment. She has made good use of every square inch, and she doesn't have to be a minimalist to live here!
She is lucky to be paying 800 a month. One of my favorite studio apt tours. I love the set up and the way she separated each section
I really enjoyed this type of video. Such a smart and savy girl. She made the space much bigger than it is. I didn’t even notice the couch and second clothes rack when you first showed whole apartment when walking in
She mastered using space plus looks like very kind person!Hope she keeps this as long as possible!!
I really enjoyed seeing this one! Sarah did a fantastic job & the result is awesome. Great tips and tricks for storage & organization. She has everything she needs there plus rent stability. We'll done👏👏👏👏
Thank you Sarah for letting us into your delightful and beautifully organised home, so comfortable too. Well done Cash for discovering her!. I would love to have met Lucy!
This woman is a DIY Queen!
And Cash: congrats on 500 k suscribers. Well deserved. :D
This video was amazing! Your friend, Sarah, was very lucky to have found this great rent-stabilized apartment. Love what she's done with it, especially her diys. Very practical and down-to-earth lady and so generous to share her place and renting advice with all of us. Thank you Cash and Sarah!
I love her and I hope all the good things come her way! I hope someday when I grow up I can get rid of my belongings when necessary as cheerfully as she does.
You’re so sweet 😍 Thanks a ton!
And save money too!
I appreciate her enthusiasm and attention to detail. She’s really rockin’ NYC.
Sooooooooooooooooooooo the apartment is NOT $800 a month. Cash stop gaslighting me. !!!! SMH
You might as well ask him to stop breathing. It’s just what he does.
Was wondering about that myself. Thought I was missing something.
THANK YOU ! I was looking through the comments hoping I found this. Very disappointing. I'm considering reporting it to youtube as inaccurate click bate.
@@the23rdbryan Sadly, this is a common occurrence with Cash’s videos. Which is a real pity because he makes good videos and he’s instantly likable. He really doesn’t need to resort to false thumbnails.
@@NYBredBamaFed I don't lie to people to make money from "clicks". Why should he be allowed to ? I did report it and hope it stings even if it doesn't force change.
the amount of positive energy this video has is amazing
She is so organized! She has everything set up so well and has so much storage! Nice apartment.
She has done a wonderful job optimizing space and keeping the function. Well done!
Cash-once again you have created a warm and welcoming environment for all your viewers. Every aspect was very well done. The tone throughout this episode was one of the best I’ve seen.
Keep going!
☮️👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Warm and welcoming? Who feels warm and welcome?
@@maticbukovac6966 Everybody but you I'm guessing.

I agree! Her apartment is great..it's all one person needs! Great vibe in this video.
She’s so amazing and incredibly smart and resourceful 🥰🥰
What a charming home. Sarah has made the best use of the small space so that it works for her. It has lots in it but does not appear to be overstuffed. Thanks guys.
How lucky she is. I love it and more when I saw the map of my Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 on the fridge (the green one)
Cash, great vid this morning! It's nice that you took the time to show how people end up using their space. And too the different financial options they have regarding the rents...creative as well as informative!
$2000 per month for that little bird cage is insane.
My thoughts exactly
Loved this episode! Shes wonderful, what a beautiful space and so organized 🎉😊
Thanks, you’re too kind 🥰
@@Shieldsy.in.the.city3 you're welcome! So nice of you to reply 🤗
the chemistry between them
love it..
I love Sarah! I wish she had done videos of her apartment rehab. I've lived in Manhattan my whole life and she's got great ideas for apartment living! ❤❤❤
Thanks!! Maybe I will, I’ve got lots of “before” footage so it wouldn’t be hard to put together!
@@Shieldsy.in.the.city3, thank you for sharing your beautiful apartment with us! And I agree: I think your DIY videos would be very popular. I know I'd subscribe. Plus, we'd get to meet the obviously adorable Lucy❣
@@Shieldsy.in.the.city3 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
Rehab? LMAO
Great tour! Glad she found a nice place that's rent stabilized. Eleven years ago I visited a friend in the West Village. His place was much smaller and $3400 per month. I cant imagine how much that place is now.
She has done an Great Job with that Apartment 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🙌🏽🔥❤️….I love it!!!
Thank you!! So kind!
Sarah is so organized and I love her DIY projects to upgrade her space. I can’t organize my 1700 sq ft house! I need a NYer’s suggestions to help me. The apartment really works! It’s in such a great part of the city too.
The positivity vibes just radiate off this woman! Fantastic video Cash one of my favourites!
😁🥰
Ery clever & positive lady.
🙆💞
Thank you for the tour. I love your apartment, everything in it and the way you have it arranged. Thank you for sharing. From Florida. 🌴
Her apartment is so cozy and cute! I like the colors she has for decor.
It's pretty cool that people like Sarah. Let you check out their crib and dope episode
Thanks, Cash & Sarah for the tour! What a charming apartment! Sarah did a great job with the kitchen reno - and thanks for the reno tips! That's a good size bathroom for a studio too.
That's a beautiful apartment and such an amazing find. I love it, Good for Sarah.❤
Wow she's so creative! This is prob my favorite NY apartment tour video
Everyone could learn 1000's of things from this girl, she is thee ultimate organizer, gotta love it. I absolutely love everything about the way her apartment, except one thing, I like screwing my stuff onto the walls, I'm in awe at how much stuff she has just stuck there, and how heavy some of it is......WHY WHEN I TRY AND DO THOSE TYPES OF STICK ON THINGS DO THEY EITHER NOT WORK AT ALL, OR FALL OFF. Thank you for letting us see your amazing apartment and skills, thank you for being your amazing selves everyone, peace and much love sent from Ontario, Canada.
I think she did a nice job at making everything fit without it looking cluttered.
This is one of the best-planned spaces I've seen on this channel. Great job!
WOW! This Lady is SO Switched on! Can you imagine what she could do with More Room? 🇬🇧👏
1900 era buildings are the best. We have the same rads in ours in Montreal and we leave the windows open all winter there is so much heat trapped in the building. When they say they don't build em like they used to....
Very neat place, I got a lot of good ideas from Sarah for my own apartment so thanks for the tour!
I LOVE this! The tour with the homeowner is just awesome! Please do more vids like this one Cash! I love that it’s a tour of an actual space so we can see how folks live in these tiny spaces.
This is a really nice place. I would be totally happy living there. She must save a lot of money, and with that, she can travel as she wishes. She did a great job in decorating and fixing it up.
I was in NYC this past week. Saw my first homeless person sleeping in the middle of a sidewalk. Such a majestic city lol.
You should try Chicago, there's homeless people sleeping inside Walgreens.
Such a gem of a place-decorated so comfy and cute! Love it
The $800 is for the cheapest apartment SHE was aware of ($825, actually), but good for her!
