Since you read all the comments - I just wanted to say I freaking love you. Keep doing what you are doing. I have to admit that some of your audience might consider me a boomer as I'm 56 years old. I've been playing games since the 1980s and am very experienced with them. Watching you experience gaming from your first experience to your now increasing skill has been a joy for me. I've said it on other videos but Lae'zel is by far my favorite character. You did such an amazing job with your voice acting and more than any other Githyanki in the game you have really captured their "essence." I hope to see you embrace your inner Lae'zel and enjoy the combat more - because I think you would be great at it. :) Finally, I hope to see you play multiplayer with other cast members. That would also be amazing. Thank you for joining the gaming world!

This stream was so much fun. I feel the pain about inventory management. I've played games like these for years and inventory management is still one of the most tedious parts. The problem is you kinda have to do it, because if you don't do it at least a little you'll be worse at battles, which can be even more tedious.
If I can offer Dev some advice, to help with both fighting and fashion (and my apologies if this is all redundant):
-There are four types of clothes: Heavy Armour, Medium Armour, Light Armour, and regular ol' Clothes.
-Proficiencies: To wear any kind of Armour effectively, a character has to have a corresponding Proficiency. This means they're trained in it. There are also Proficiencies for Weapons and Skills.
-How to get Proficiencies: You can get Proficiencies from a few things as you level up, but the most important thing is Class. A Fighter like Dev'zel has Proficiency with all kinds of Armour, so she can wear anything. A Rogue like Astarion only has Light Armour Proficiency. A Wizard like Gale has no Proficiencies at all, so it's only Clothes for him. You can see a list of Class Proficiencies here: www.ign.com/wikis/baldurs-gate-3/Classes_and_Subclasses, and also look at the Character Sheet for a given character to see what they can use.
EDIT: @TMidander has kindly pointed out Race is also an important source of Proficiencies. Gale can in fact wear Light Armour and use some non-Wizardly weapons because he's a Human.
-What makes clothing good in fights: the most important number here is the Armour Class, or AC. The higher the number, the harder you are to hit. So what you want is to put the biggest AC you can on your characters, given their Proficiencies. Please note this all gets much more complicated once magical armour starts turning up. Rule of thumb: magic is better.
-Fashion advice: If you think an outfit looks ugly, you can buy dyes from one of the shopkeepers in Druids Grove, and use them to change the look of the outfit. There are some *gorgeous* dyes out there, though they won't change the shape of an outfit, or its Armour Class.
-What to do with extra Armour: Sell, sell, sell. It's heavy to carry it around, but it can be quite valuable.
-One last thing: Camp Clothes and Underwear are separate to all of this. Camp Clothes are what characters wear only when they're getting comfy for the evening. They're basically pyjamas. Underwear is, well, underwear.
Again, sorry if none of that's news to Dev! I just empathise as someone who doesn't like dealing with all that inventory stuff either.

@@thisisdevorawilde Just to add on to this, you can wear armor but hide it so that your camp clothes show up! You can also hide helms as well. When you go into your character sheet, move your cursor over your armor or helmet and press triangle. This way, you can slay (💅) and slay (⚔). Camp clothes can also be dyed, so have fun!
It was awesome catching this live. Thank you!

      @TMidander 8 місяців тому +3

No you got it right :) Lae'zel is a fighter like Dev'zel. The only thing that I could see adding is that in BG3 you can also get proficiencies from Race (For example, Gale can in fact use Light Armour and Shields due to being Human, through the Civil Militia feature)@@bangboom123

  • @colorfulsomething5008
    @colorfulsomething5008 8 місяців тому +14

Hey, I have a little tip about companion dialogues if that's okay😊
So your companions all have a "day dialogue" if I may call it that, and a "night dialogue".
If you speak to them during the day they might have a comment on the things happening, but they usually don't have as much to say (unless they're Gale of course😉). When you just go to camp, they're still in "day dialogue" mode and don't have too much to say. That's when you talked to Lae'zel and wondered why she always hits you with the same sentence.
Only when you end the day (the step when it turnes dark in your camp, before you actually go to sleep) they often have a new dialogue. That's the time when more personal or more in depth conversations can happen. If they have something really important they want to tell you, they have that little exclamation mark over their head, which you've already seen (only happens in the evening). But even if they have no exclamation mark, that doesn't mean they have nothing to say at all. If you talk to them they might still have thoughts to share with you.
So just in case you're interested in talking to companions, try to first end the day and then talk to everyone in camp. And they likely wont say the same generic sentence as when you talk to them on the road.

Don't feel bad about struggling with the game and its interface. I've been playing stuff like this for 20+ years and even I had a hard time in my first like dozen hours of this game. There's so many little controls and gameplay aspects that the game just kinda assumes you understand. BG3 is an amazing game but there absolutely is a steep learning curve. Watching people that are newer to gaming like this struggle shouldn't be frustrating to anyone, it should be educational for game developers on how to make their games more accessible and intuitive.

Hi Dev, after listening to the Goblin of the Week segment (I had fun listening to that) I just wanted to throw in a comment to say I've been so excited to see you give the game a try despite being new to video games and having to learn so much (controller, gameplay, streaming, youtubing) from scratch. I know it's a challenge and you're taking it on which is more than so many can say for themselves, so I think you're awesome for that and I'm especially glad you're enjoying the experience overall and having fun with the game.
I'm guessing I'm roughly around the same age as you but I've been immersed in gaming since preschool and have watched streams since they first existed on the internet, so I've seen a whole range of experience levels. Every streamer or video-maker in existence will tell you that managing the community can be both very rewarding and very distressing at times. There are always those goblins out there who will leave nonsense and/or mean-hearted messages, and there are going to be some comments that just get in your head and won't leave, I've heard it from absolutely everyone on this platform. I think some people just aren't thinking and take things for granted, forgetting that not everyone has played video games for years and forgetting what the challenges were when they started and forgetting that BG3 in particular is a pretty complex game even for experienced gamers. Others will just vent their own life troubles out into the void (hurt people hurt people).
I say this just to say 1) you're not alone and it doesn't mean you should be discouraged at ALL, it doesn't mean things aren't going well, and 2) as a reminder that you may need breaks from reading comments now and then whenever you feel you need to, maybe not yet but it could happen in the future, and don't feel bad if it does. If it ever starts getting bad, I'm sure there will be plenty of people willing to moderate for you, either officially if you grant them power to the channel to delete comments for you, or even just unofficially if you want someone to pass along the helpful messages for you.
Long essay, TLDR: I'm excited that you're enjoying your BG3 experience and you're doing great, don't let anyone say otherwise, not even mark hamill!

The bottom combat bar basics explained:
Green Circle: Your main action, consumed by most attacks physical or magical. Also consumed with more significant actions like help, dash, throw etc. Replenished on your next turn or on the same turn with the action surge skill.
Orange Triangle: Your bonus action(s), consumed by actions such as Shove, Jump, Dip. Also consumed by using items like health potions or elixirs. Can also be used to attack with your offhand (Dev'zel as a dual wielder). Replenished on your next turn.
Movement: The distance your character can move this turn, distance varies by character. Replenished on your next turn.
Blue Squares: Your Spell Slots, most magical attacks will require spell slots, indicated by hovering over the spell. Some spells like Fire Bolt, Shocking Grasp, Radiant Flame, Ray of Frost (spells Shadowheart and Gale have) don't cost spell slots and will only consume your Action. Casting spells will require your Action and those that require Spell Slots to cast can be bettered by expending higher level slots to increase power, range, number of targets etc. depending on the spell. Replenished after a Long Rest.
Hope that wasn't too wordy. You're doing great babe!

Everyone here writes tips and interesting things for the game, but I want to express my sincere gratitude!
Larian Studios and especially Dev, thank you very much for creating such a complex and lively character as Laezel. I do not know how you managed to achieve this, but I have never romanced the same character 2 times in a row. And when I started playing the game for the third time, I wanted to romance others besides Laezel. And when the first kiss with Karlach happened, it was as if I felt out of place.
It was so strange and seemingly wrong. I just didn't have any feelings other than friendly. And then I tried to romance everyone, except again Laezel. And I didn't feel anything with any of them that I felt with her. After all that I went through with Laezel, I couldn't share my feelings with others, I was completely devastated.
I do not know how you managed it, Larian, but you have created a character who is as faithful as Shadowheart, wise as Jaheira, straightforward and frank as Karlach, sensual and romantic as Gale, eloquent as Astarion, purposeful as Mintara, slightly naive as Minsk, Laezel is the personification of what Wyll says about himself - courage, honor, sharp mind and steel will.
You have created an ideal. Larian Studios, I give you a standing ovation. And I bow to you Dev, because you are the voice, feelings and heart of Laezel. Thank you, thank you very much!😢

Dev - you're the best. Streaming alone is a super stressful process, nevermind streaming Baldurs Gate 3 as your first game nonetheless. Hilarity of Goblin of the Week aside, I hope you know how truly appreciative the rest of us are of your streaming efforts (& obviously your performance itself but that goes without saying). Also I watched your standup performance - hilarious! Crèche world tour 2024?

Both Dev and Grace are doing a fucking AMAZING JOB. BG3 is NOT an easy game, even for pros. I’ve been playing video games since i was a wee babe, and I love turn-based games and RTS, but man. BG3 has a learning curve for everyone. You two are doing great, and video games are about having fun!!!!

This is so much fun to watch, and honestly the much-talked-about moments of frustration at your inexperience are worth it because your reactions are so beautiful and genuine. When you add in the behind-the-scenes peeks someone who worked on the game can provide, you get the kind of thing I absolutely adore!

It's great to watch these streams. It's so nice to see how much work went into this and how appreciated it is. It's awesome watching you learn and see the end product. Lae'zel was my favourite character in the game. Performance was so good, when I finished my first playthrough I was so happy for her growth at the end. But with all the paths there must be so many other options. The whole cast put in so much work. (Clearly Tim did a lot of lines). I hope there are more games like this with great casts in the future.

Asking someone who has limited or no experience with video games to play Baldur's Gate 3 (of all games) on a console, in front of a crowd, is akin to asking them to perform Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 29 in front of a screaming Madison Square Garden crowd... using only their feet... while blindfolded.
    Brava! Brava! Pretty darn impressive!

Dev!!! If I could give any advice, it's don't waste time on Istik! (Trolls) A proud Githyanki warrior such as yourself should not heed the petulant whines and moans of weaklings, not when hordes of allies are there to cry "havoc", awash in the blood your heroic deeds.
In all seriousness, insecure people get jealous when they see someone successful, talented, gorgeous and brave (to stream a very hard video game on the internet for the first time!) throwing caution to the wind and saying "f*ck it". This is their way of making people pay for doing things they wish they could. So DO NOT HEED THEM, KITHRAK! You're doing incredible and everyone adores watching you. ❤

Dear Devora, thanks for the streams) Your energy is amazing!! You're awesome!!!
I don't want to be the goblin of the week, but I really want to help you with advice.
Please pay attention to three tips regarding the battle so that they are easier and more effective.
    1. At the top of the screen, the queue of those who will act in what order is always shown.
    2. You can click on any place on the battlefield, and even if the character does not have enough movement to reach the selected point, he will reach the one to which his movement is sufficient on this turn.
    3. Pay attention to the fact that each character has a main action, a bonus action, and some have other things, like magic charges or something else. Every time you act as a character, you can take a main action and a bonus action. To make it easier to understand what you can do, read the description of abilities, actions, and spells right in the selection wheel. It all says what they do, what bonus or main action they require.
I apologize for the errors in the text, I'm as bad at English as Google Translator.

Dev, you’re incredibly entertaining to watch! I can’t always catch the streams but I look forward to the posted youtube videos ❤
Just want to say you’re doing amazing learning the game, I think people that play lots of games take intuitively knowing the controls for granted and forget how ridiculous it is trying to figure out combinations when it’s your first time. Heck, honestly I play lots of games but it was a struggle for me learning how the BG3 mechanics worked at first 😅
The speed at which you’re picking things up is amazing but honestly, it’s been so fun watching you have fun and really at the end of the day, isn’t that the most important thing?

You're improving greatly every single stream, love to see it! One thing that helped me with this game was organizing my circles. You can hover over something like Main Hand Attack or a spell then press Square to swap it to a place that makes it easier to access so you always know where it's at. It can be tedious moving everything around though and you've already gotten so good with handling the circles so I understand if you don't want to do that. Looking forward to the next stream!
