    32:08 Ocean's 11
34:34 *Amelia Tyler voice* "Well well well, if it isn't the consequences of your own actions. Oh and roll initiative." Exactly. And on top of that imagine how valuable this type of feedback is. If I were PS5 or Larian employee, I'd find newcomers experience quite valuable. They can see things what seasoned players have overlooked and/or have taken for granted. Empty containers, not being able to combine some mundane items in surplus, lack of crafting, repeating dialogue (depending on consecutive interaction, an npc can have at least a few new lines to say, be pressed to reveal new info, thank for concern, or be pissed/annoyed for being pestered too many times), etc. There is still a lot more to be added in future games. And where is this feedback from you say? My experience and watching Dev's streams.

Totally not in response to a commentor here (LOL), but I'd like to remind everyone that Dev does not have a lot of experience playing video games. Expecting her to understand that BG3 intends to punish random acts of violence as rationally as possible is rather unfair, as ridiculous as that sounds.
I've watched several playthroughs at this point, and I have seen players---experienced gamers nonetheless---who are baffled at how violence snowballs in this game. For players who have a trigger happy, "fuck-around-and-find-out" kind of playstyle, BG3 can be a shock to their system.
Let Dev learn and figure out the game in her own way. I'm sure that we'd want that that kind of grace if we dived into a game we knew absolutely nothing about. Speaking of grace, shoutout to Grace for being so patient and gentle when it comes to guiding Dev. She's a better person than me; if I were in her position, I'd be such an enabler of the murder just because I thought it'd be funny LMAO.
    Anyway, much love Dev

Hey Grace, if you're reading this, I think it's better to use the 'clock time' like 1 o'clock etc. for navigating the radial menus. I heard you used it once and I think Dev got it immediately. It is 12 icons after all so it might be easier than 'upper right' or 'top' etc.

If you really don't want to use Astarion to open an chest, you can always pick it up and then have Lae'zel or Karlach throw it of a high roof, or a bridge or a cliff to smash it open.
Also githyanki have a power called Astral Knowledge or some such which allows them to gain proficiency in different skills every short rest. Both Lae'zel and Dev'zel have it. So you can make yourself more proficient in speech and turn Lae'zel into your resident lockpicker

I dont know if youll see the comment on a week old video, but dont worry too much about messing up and missing out on content. This game is really good about letting you play how you want. So if a war starts because you shoved a kid because she insulted you, you can go for it. This game is massive. its impossible to see everything in one playthrough anyway, plus sometimes being "bad" can open up new content.

    Opening:
Dino Dance: the official Laez Baes Anthem
    - Creche K'lir dentist/gustil announces the secret behind Lae'zel's perfect teeth: It's NOT the Githascend toothpaste (now with astral dust). It's natural.
    - Prison break - gith style
    - Horny boar, sleepy bear, angry bear, not-suspicious-at-all rat trio, bird with artistic anxiety
    - Save-Load not to start Grove War III
    - Finale: I hadn't seen those dialogues with Nettie or the lady that sent you to prison nor seen Kagha's secret stash. Well-played/managed.
    Closing:
Dino Dance: the official Laez Baes Anthem
P.S: Jumping with melee characters before attacking ends combats sooner. (Esp. with greatswords equipped).

I can't even begin to imagine how all of this complete Baldur's Gate experience must feel for you.
First you get a great job and get to work on a great character and do what you love to do.
Then you get so much interaction with the people that you actually made all of this for, which must be its own validation for all the time you put into this job.
And now you get to discover for yourself the joy of narrative computer games that draw you in and don't let go of you for months with the cherry on top that you worked on this and played a major character in it and get to see what all of this was for what you have been doing the last years.
    That must be wild.

Dev, when your characters hit level 4 you get to pick from a long list of bonuses called "Feats". It can be pretty overwhelming, but if you pick the very first option "Ability Improvement" you can add 2 points to the ability they use for attacks and that will raise their chance to hit & make them more effective.
For the Gith Queens(Fighters) - Strength
    Shadowheart(Cleric) - Wisdom
    Wyll(Warlock) - Charisma
    Gale(Wizard) - Intelligence
    Astarion(Rogue) - Dexterity
    Karlach(Barbarian) - Strength

I have to say congratulations on how well you’re picking up the PS5 controls. I’m well into my 2nd time through the game (on PC) so I’m pretty familiar with the game mechanics themselves, but I have trouble following the PS5 interface…

I don't know where you are in the gameplay now because I'm trying to only watch your streams when I'm working out. (I pretend that I'm swinging swords and things when I'm really just lifting weights... Hey if it works it works lol) You may enjoy the game a bit more if you had a little more context as to what is going on at the moment. I can imagine how confusing and overwhelming everything is knowing all of the information as a voice actor and trying to sort everything out playing a video game for the first time.
Right now you're looking for a healer and you ran into a settlement. The druids are the people who have lived there for hundreds of years. The horned people are refugees trying to travel to baldur's Gate and they have settled in the druids territory at the moment. The druids are focused with tradition and are not keen on having refugees in their land and messing up the status quo. The horned people want to leave but the roads have become really dangerous with the goblins and they do not have many warriors. Making matters worse, the druids leader has gone missing after a mission and there is a power struggle going on. The beauty of this game is that all of your decisions affect the world around you. For example killing one of the refugees will cause all of the refugees to think that you are an enemy. The same thing goes with stealing the druid's religious item. If you kill that whole group of people realize that you literally wiped that settlement off the map. Also those characters will no longer be available to develop stories throughout the next few acts. I myself like to steal everything around me but as soon as somebody turns hostile towards me I end up having to reload because I don't want My character to physically harm innocent people and I don't want them to have to kill an entire group of people. With that being said... You absolutely CAN kill "innocent" people if you want. The game is made to create opportunities for you even when you silence other opportunities. Hope you keep enjoying the game :-)

    • @koshu4
      @koshu4 10 місяців тому +3

It depends more on the game and the gamer. When I play FFXIV on PC I use a controller for preference, for example, since it becomes super slick with the right bindings, all because the game was designed for a Japanese market that loves consoles. It's downright foolish to judge from observing a first-time beginner gamer who is figuring out, from scratch, a game that was ported rather than designed console-first. The controller scheme is not intuitive in BG3 but once fully understood it is very effective. Dev will get there:)

Also, as someone else said, press the up button on the dpad to jump, much easier. Those are all my tips for today, catch me next time for some more pro gamer tips 😂

Howdy Dev! I want to say that I love Lae'zel as a character and she's always on my team. She's been a very iconic part of my experience with the game. I was so happy when you started streaming because I thought you were very charming in the high rollers one shot you played with everyone. I think it was the turn after you missed an attack during the final fight and you hit on your next turn and you were just marveling at getting to roll extra dice and it was so pure. Thank you for all you do, the streams/yts have been very entertaining. Gith of the week is a wonderful idea and I wanted to propose that if Lae'zel was going to show up for each announcement of GotW then maybe everyone would enjoy it if she announced the winner. Ya know, in her own voice. I'm sure most folks would be very honored to win GotW but if it came straight from Lae'zel of Creche K'liir i'd say they might be downright flattered. Please. Keep up the good work! You've picked up the game so fast and have improved greatly. Strike true in Vlaakith's name!

Hey Devora; another entertaining episode; thanks for that.
FYI, sometimes the NPCs respond well to candor and/or honesty (and sometimes they don't; its a judgement call, based on their character). Had you been more candid with Nettie, she wouldn't have poisoned you.
Also, remember D&D is turn-based. In BG3, you can enter turn-based mode at any time, and combat is always turn-based. Entering turn-based mode gives you all the time you want to examine the various characters in view, try to figure out who is who, how much damage you just caused to an enemy, etc. Since I play on a PC, I don't know how you do this on the game pad, but I'm sure Grace can help with that.

    Random gaming memory:
me playing this game called Turrican on Amiga500 (grandaddy of PCs kind of) with a joystick.
    Age: 13
Played around 200 hours but cant progress bc of cant pass through a small cave opening.
    Invite friend over one day.
He presses space on the keyboard. The KEYBOARD!!!
Game character curls into a ball like an armadillo rolls through the opening.
    Me: Shocked face. O_o
"How did you do it? What did you press?"
    "Spacebar dude."
    O.o what is this trickery!
Big boss fight in the cave... good times...
Moral of the story: A game is always the best when you jump in head first and is enriched with friends.

Dev'zel, you are actually picking the game faster for someone who haven't play video game before. I guess being a Gith has some benefit from "Astral Knowledge" after all.
Anyway, I would like to leave you an advice if you don't mind. Try to get used to the camera tools and utilize it in your future playthrough. It would smoothen your journey a lot in your future exploration of the world of Faerun. 😊

This is more for Grace than it is for Dev, since Grace already knows the game. I'll put it under read more.

    • @suntiger745
      @suntiger745 11 місяців тому +6

I can understand why they did it. With the number of spells and abilities in the game, putting everything on the screen would be too tedious to navigate with a controller. The radial menus divides it into more manageable chunks.
However, it also makes it more confusing for a new player especially, because you don't see all the abilities/spells at once. Harder to get an overview of what's available.
On the other hand, PC is harder to set up for a newbie before you can play the game, especially if you want to stream it, so it's kinda damned if you do, damned if you don't.
Also, for both PC and PS5 the font for descriptions of spells and items could benefit from being larger and brighter. :)

In case Dev and/or Grace reads this (and unless that's already been mentionned later in this stream), "not enough ressources" is related to the bottom bar with the icons (that only appears in combat or when the circle menus are open). You have your green actions and your orange bonus actions, and the circle menus are (almost always) colored based on which one gets consumed by the action. The bottom bar also has a beige meter showing how much movement you have left.
Keeping that in mind should help keeping track of what's going on and what you're able to do in combat.

For selecting actions like Perform from radial menus, the correct advice is "use the other joystick". That way your character won't move accidentally at all and the worst case is the camera spins around a bit.
