@GaetanoTheMicrobiomeExpert Thanks - will check out protocol after watch your C diff presentation. My elderly aunt was thought to have C diff several days ago (definitely had a yr ago - both times in/right after hospitalizated for a month which included being given antibiotics for urinary tract infection). Discharged to a nursing home several days ago and, interestingly, they didn't rush to test her & start the usual metronidazole (Flagyl) or Vancomycin....wondering if they might possibly have selected specific foods directed to help, as the diarrhea seemed to abate pretty quickly. She's in a small, private nursing home in England - perhaps they're more advanced on targeted feeding of the microbiome than in the US! (Or it simply wasn't C diff this time...) Anyhow, thought it might be an area to consider for a future presentation &/or protocol/s - ie, not C diff as you're already addressing that, but weakened, convalescing patients discharged home, or to nursing homes. Obviously there'd be a big variety of patients - age, diabetic or not, insulin-resistant or not, with dementia of varying degrees or not, high BP or too low BP or normal BP, post-surgical, etc. So perhaps protocols for subsets of convalescing patients like that would be unnecessary or impractical. Another idea might be one for patients on tube feeding. Whole foods ground finely would be best, but perhaps there'd be some optimal foods - or even a once or twice a week meal such patients could be given to help counteract some of the bad in the commercially available tube feeds if they or family don't seem to have the time, ambition, or confidence to provide all tube feeding meals home-made style. There's a guy who runs a small nursing home in the US who carefully targets diet to assist cognitive improvement as part of the Bredesen Protocol. Don't recall if he targets for microbiome specifically or not. Modified 9:3 keto I think, plus targeted supplements. There's so much exciting being learned and taught right now about healing the brain, the gut, various microbiomes! Thank you for your contributions!!
Love your content! Creative feed back: Continual background music or tantric noises could work for people who don't practice informational or perceptual hygiene, but I am one to always have my preferred tracks going on to tackle my ADHD, so whenever I can't switch off a sound that interfere with my own sounds, than for me that is a disturbing and distractive noise, with all respect to the musical affection that is being intended. It just doesn't work for me, as I am already tuned for one, and also I am my tune dependant. I didn't know if its a thing, but its my thing. I will pay closer attention to your channel, because I like the way you go in-depth on a topic, and right now, I feel that I can learn from you. Thank you for your work!
Yes, you can buy a pectin supplement online. It's just a little challenging. As there are ingredient issues. Send me an email, and I'll send you a link to one that is a little pricey, but appears to be the best available.
Also, fyi, the background music is incongruent with the material - or maybe the problem is actually that it's too congruent (?) The music is the type to demands one's attention, thus taking one away from being able to fully concentrate on what you're saying. And then you have complex visuals at times, which one also tries to focus on - so there are as many as 3 different simultaneous inputs. It would simplify things to just drop the music - there's no need for any music.

Not good. Please see my presentation on supporting the keto diet. I know some people get relief from the carnivore diet, much like the low FODMAPs diet(see this presentation), but in the long term, these are both bad ideas for the microbiome. The goal should not be to eliminate foods as your immune system becomes more hyperinflammatory, the goal should be to address the root cause of why your immune system is hyperinflammatory (see presentations on autoimmune disease). Be sure to subscribe, like and recommend to others. My platform is still new.
@@nomade438 It has eliminated my muscle fasciculations associated with a Motor Neuron Disease (PLS), a form of ALS. I guess there is a chance that it is also slowing the progression of said disease, but it's impossible to know.
Very grateful for your content. eating the Granny Smiths seems quite reliable but they would massively eat into ones sugar budget. I know you mentioned carrots would cooking allow for larger consumption (minimising carotene’s) or does pectin get destroyed to too great an extent? I know it was mentioned that citrusy derived pectin isn’t as effective. What about more niche fridge sources think plantain or green banana peels chutneys other less known or unconventional sources. Pectin is also massively used in jams marmalades and chutneys if consumed in large enough quantities via savoury chutneys could it provide substantial benefits without the cons of excess fructose and sugar?
I think you have all of the ideas covered. There's much less sugar in green apples. Two a day is not much, unless you're on the keto diet. Even then it's barely over the limit. Carrot are great. So are root veggies. Etc the idea is to understand the connection of certain foods and your microbiome. And i use certain prebiotics in large doses to fix those who are dysbiotic.
pectin is in a number of foods, to varying degrees. i mention green apples and carrots, because they are good sources. In fact, I'm eating a green apple now with breakfast. I don't want to turn you orange from carrot consumption. The point is, to eat intelligently, and something that's not a fad diet.
I wish you could take away the background music. I can’t follow what you’re saying because the noise is making me feel agitated. I really want to hear what you are saying.
Great content! With regard to organic granny smith apples, they'll be hard to source year round, so can they be stewed and preserved while keeping the pectin quality?
thanks a good question. since we have a global economy, I know I haven´t had problems finding organic options in my grocery store. Pectin is a common cooking ingredient, so from what I know, it retains its structure, unlike say unmodified potato starch as it pertains to resistant starch.
Very interesting, thank you. Will check your website to see if any suggestions for C difficile infection &/or prevention of recurrence.
I have a c-diff presentation coming out shortly. Also, on my website, you can find a protocol for C-diff concerns

We will release this video tomorrow without the background music.
Are dried apples OK?
i don't see why not
Maybe a weird question: Is isomalt a helpful prebiotic in small amount. E.g. as sugarfree candy?
Any information on a substitute for the apples in your program? I am on your SIBO one and the apples are killing my teeth sensitivity.

Should the carrots be eaten raw or cooked?
I've seen no data on this, but pectin is pretty durable, so it shouldn't matter

Hi , is pectin found in broccoli, green beans and cauliflower? Cheers.
What do you think of psyllium husk??
I can come in very handy. I use it at times in the right people in combination with other prebiotics.
Great info! What would be the effect on the microbiome of a carnivore diet?

do you plan to make a video on acne?
I didn´t, but a video on the connection between your microbiome and the skin might not be a bad idea.
I take a Modified Citrus Pectin (Pectasol) twice per day (on an empty stomach). Any comments on that?
sounds reasonable. I just think the data for apple pectin is stronger.
Does it help you?

@@TheMicrobiomeExpert Which root vegetables?
Will the pectin fuel bad bacteria in the gut?
It can, which is why the needs of the microbiome need to be addressed intelligently.
Thats a lovely house
thanks
What quantity of carrots do you recommend to eat each day for sufficient pectin?
pectin is in a number of foods, to varying degrees. i mention green apples and carrots, because they are good sources. In fact, I'm eating a green apple now with breakfast. Im not smart enough to know what is being said😂
