I'd for sure go with the RS4 even though that V6T can be so easily tuned. Nothing beats a good manual especially when its mated to an engine like that. Wouldn't want to deal with the maintenance though. Timing chains suck haha.
Depends on where u live. They wont fall in price as fast as regular cars but they certainly wont and doesnt increase in value here in Europe. They have very high maintenance cost due to timing belt etc and second, EU will put fossilfuel to an end across Europe some time and during the time, they will choke every petrol and diesel car owner out to the point where its not fun anymore putting fuel in ur car. 2035 will be the end of newly produced petrol and diesel cars and alot of manufacturers are already aiming to end that line 2030.

Drive a properly sorted v6t, and your choice may not be so clear cut. I'm a v8 fan through and through, and LOVE my BMW v8s. But I own a stage 1 B8 S4 (430HP) with the active 'sports diff' and when your on it on a twisty road aka paekak, its like fucking nothing else (and I've had plenty of hipo subies) it's a revelation and a fucking delight. And then there's the dsg farts, and the crackle tune. In the words of the magistrate at porirua courts... 'it's a weapon'
Why did you show different engines for the S5? At the beginning you can see it’s the revised version of the 3.0T with the different engine cover and then you showed the earlier near the end, possibly from another car.
Cool comparison . The only problem is the price point. While a facelift S5 you can get for around 20k, an RS4 is close to 40k. So almost double in cost

And the audi famous history from ww2 is superb, they made the gas chambers for mass execution of people. Unlike mercedes and bmw audi is just badge of vw product and nothing else.
I... hate...regular Audis, Period. The RS may be a different animal but the rest is just too bland, unreliable, so overrated and super popular here in Europe...and nowadays the Audi driver is more arrogant than the BMW driver. They are just flashy cars for the masses over here. Build quality and driving engagement is under BMW in my opinion. The interior although flashy looking is not as well put together and robust as BMW's are.
You haven’t tried the V8 S5 manual 😮💨 that thing is a gem of a car even if the engine isn’t the strongest. The manual is what just makes it the best. It’s V8 notes are also insane w the popping noises it does 😩 I’m deeply in love with mine
Great review! Nice to see an honest back to back comparison - S5 for me, the low down torque makes it that perfect mix for both daily driving and back road fun, and the 2 door coupe especially is an absolute stunner
Great video. Between those two it’s all about that high-revving V8 mated to that 6MT. There are too many fast auto sedans to consider the S. 2008 RS4 owner here so I am biased though.

The V8 S5 is a very different motor than the RS 4.2 Their displacement is just about the only thing they have in common. Totally different motor in the S4/5 VS the RS4/5
@@pigupigu I mean not really that different. Both are 32 valve 4.2l NA FSI V8. The s5 just makes a little less power and has some very slight differences. They're more comparable than a B6/7 S4 motor and those are also pretty similar
Its just a lower spec RS4. The wingbacks are super nice and if they would also come with the Lamborghini Gallardo steering wheel they normally come with. Also no carbon trim?
Those steering wheels came with RS 4s that had the phone pack as the flat bottomed one doesn’t have the phone buttons on it. You’ll also notice that the S button is on the dash too.
A friend back in NZ has a 2011 Audi S4 with the supercharged V6, goes like poop off a shovel and sounds great too. I would be more than happy with an RS4 or an S model with that supercharged motor! I also have to admit I have been shocked by the reliability of my mates S4, he drives it like he is setting a top ten lap at Bathurst nearly every day and he has owned it for years. Very little has gone wrong! Nice vid mate!

I was fortunate to be able to drive my friends RS4 manual. Very fun indeed. Although, he is paying an insane price to keep it on the road. Super expensive to maintain.
Great cars as long as you have lots of money or skills to fix all the faults and maintenance that comes with owning anything Audi. German engineering and reliability is not represented well but they are very nice to drive.

If your a fwd driver tjen am sure the quattro is fantastic.. A proper driver with skills knows the audis are plane boring

Timing chain isn’t an issue on the RS4. It was an issue with the other 4.2 V8 that have the plastic chain guides.

You need to try a 3.0T with dual pulley upgrade. Not just a stage 1 tune. Different animal

I would take the RS4. The sound is unmatched. The EA839 sounds good but that V8 is just on a different level.

The S5 in the video was bought from Ebbett Pukekohe in December 2021 for $52k.

Audi'swrong balance and blunt steering are aweful, the design is souless. Bmw has superb balance and and a design that is different from a soap shape.

Yeahh I guess it depends on how it was looked after. They can be known to go wrong at times. Worth it tho for the driving experience imo
