TRAIN DRIVER'S VIEW: Bergen - Myrdal on a windy Saturday in 4K UltraHD

- Arriving in Bergen at 8am, changed direction and getting ready to head for Myrdal on this windy morning.
On my way to bergen in the 6:08am departure from voss ( • TRAIN DRIVER'S VIEW: W... ) we encountered a triggered avalanche warning system. You would think that things would be smooth sailing after that, but no. On this part we can add a technical signalling failure. A train drivers "heart stopper" is to see a signal switch from green to red right in front of you.

I'm a very painfully disabled person who lives in the USA and suffers with persistent insomnia and depression because I'm unable to move away from this place. Watching your videos allows me to escape some of my pain by giving my imagination some extremely beautiful scenery whilst I sit in this chair, in pain, all night long. I just want to thank you for doing these videos. They REALLY help me cope with my life. I just wish I could move to Scandinavia and see all of this in person. Thank you again!
I enjoyed watching this video with my toddler son before his sleeping time. This video makes him very focused. He called out details in he saw like colors of traffic lights, exits of tunnels, road signs, ski carried by the passenger, cars on the roads, the horn. He also expressed his opinion like he thnks the train broke down when in long tunnels. And he would lean all his body on mine staying calm calm, happy and concentrated. And I also teached him about some common senses with things we saw. Because this video is pretty long, I limit the watch time at 20 mins a day. After dinners, he knew what he wanted to do with his dad. This brought us closer and helped him sleep better. We absolutely love it. Thank you for sharing!
OMG, this is so adorable!
Adorable moments 😍🥰
Thanks for taking these vids. Having been a locomotive engineer I find myself concentrating on the road ahead. You are fortunate to be able to run trains in either passenger or freight service and what variation in scenery! From seeing the general physical plant, the track and signal system appear to be in excellent condition. Love the tunnels. Must have been interesting operation during steam days. I assume that tunnels came along quickly when money was available and the company or government knew it would be necessary to avoid traffic delays and high operating costs. Because of all the various jobs, you can bid off to other jobs to avoid the boredom that comes from smaller operations and that you have done. As I watch the operation, I find myself recognizing the physical characteristics of the railroad. Once a railroader, always a railroader. And now a Christian and that allows me appreciate so many more things. Never thought I get to see railroad operations in Norway! Thanks again!
Always like to watch this when I'm not feeling so well, put some soothing music in another window… Telling me there is always light at the end of the tunnel… This too shall pass… Remember that whoever is reading this…
Thank you for watching, glad you liked it :)
Can't stop watching this, it's mesmerizing.
Thank you!
My dad really enjoyed watching this kind of thing with my siblings and me before bedtime when we were younger. He passed in August 2020. Today I was in pain from my orthodontist visit and was looking for something to distract myself with. I don't normally watch things like this but it randomly popped up on my feed so I clicked on it. It both distracted me from my pain and reminded me of my dad. Thank you☺
I'm sorry for your loss ❤️❤️❤️ I'm glad my video was able to bring back fond memories and relieve you of your discomfort. Get well ❤️
so beautiful your country is, i just cant find the words to say . i love every thing about it and how clean every thing is. not one thing on the right of way ,no garbage any were. clean clear rivers with fast running cold water that you can drink. the homes and farms so clean and painted so beautiful like a story book . you are so lucky rail cow girl. god bless you.
The snow ❤❤❤❤
The sensation of expression I feel as it exits the first tunnel Ahhhhhh
The sounds....
A different beautiful view after every tunnel. Incredible. I've never traveled, so this is a treat ❤
Greetings from the USA. Your country is beautiful. Such lovely scenery.
I never tire of these vids. I think I have watched almost all of them and some I have watched more than once.
Wow! Thank you so much :D So glad you're liking them so much, Ian :)
I'm watching it when i wanna runaway from stress, is there anyone like me?
I hope it helps!
@@RailCowGirl it really works, thanks 😊
Yes, totally. I also like the idea of being on that train right now, without electronics or plastic to give away where I am, running away from stress. Unfortunately we can't outrun the stress in our own heads. No such thing as a clean slate or a new life--not without total amnesia first.
This video helps me to sleep❤❤
Yes I put it on when I'm reading. Two stress busters at once helps:)
With some music of your choice playing in the background, a seat in a comfortable chair, ambient lighting and a favorite beverage in hand, this is, without a doubt, the best kind of therapy there is. Wow! Talk about experiencing a real stress buster! Very nice - and thanks. 🙌🏻
Thank you, I'm glad you like the videos!
What a beauty, you can watch forever. Thanks to the author for the video.
Its my routine to watch videos like this in the morning..haaa..it gives so much relief
Hello, you could say I’m somewhat like you, I enjoy watching rail journeys, it’s relaxing, lovely scenery especially the Norwegian countryside.
Glad you enjoyed
It's so peaceful riding on the train with you, HCG ... thank you -- I really enjoy the trips ... I have it playing in the background, full-screen on one of my three work monitors while I program code.
And to make it even better there is no gaudy background music
love it . absolutely breathtaking. you are one of the luckiest in the world
@RailCowGirl Thank you 🙏🏻 for this lifesaving channel. Your rail adventures from Bergen to Oslo are the medicine for my high blood pressure & stress. You also have improved my sleep at night. Thanks again @RailCowGirl 🥰
So pretty out there! But wow what a different ambiance the whole place has. All those mountains and forests surrounding your little town in Winter. Must make it feel like you're cut off from the world, even as you're driving along train tracks. I can see how even now in our modern world, it could give rise to all sorts of spooky stories.
Wow, so much has changed since you released this video. A lot of new construction along this track.
Indeed :)
Norwagian's live rich with cozy homes . The rich landscape coupled with snow rich horizon is astonishing ! The richness & beauty abound earth is a rich testiment to the mesmerising glory of the epic land !!!

I could see myself doing this job! Quite amazing scenery and front row seat. Great work Railcowgirl 👍👍
Thank you!
When you consider that so much of this was made during the steam era, it's even more amazing.
I know, it's very impressive work!!
You are too good. What a joy watching you videos!
Thank you so much!
I really enjoy your videos. I am a pilot and also love trains. Your videos have inspired me to want to make a visit to Norway. I found out from my DNA study that I am 26% Norwegian. Exploring Norway lead me to find your great videos. I am from USA, Virginia.
You are searching your roots of Identity ! I too am planning to run - aground in Norway after watching this footage ! I'm sure you will see those root bearing trees blossomed to fruition for your joy & ecstasy ! Good Luck to an expeditionist !!!

I don't even know how I found this video or why I like it but I really do.
I've been to the Bergensbana and Flåmsbana only in 1982. It's an incredible place I'll never forget.

Я готова смотреть на это вечно... Все-таки зима, на мой взгляд, куда обворожительнее лета ~ И ночь прекраснее дня)) (отсылка к ночному поезду))
Thank you, glad you liked it :)
Jeez, when the train starts out, I think that the city looks like a pristine miniature replica city.
Like a movie beginning.
@@michaelg6641
🚬🥃Nope, aside from Mr. Rogers neighborhood, I never knew an opening scene to be of a miniature town. What movies were you commenting about? 🤔
@@badger1296 Nothing specific, just meant it looks like a movie opening, because its actually.. a real town.
Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful : Oh My God Ice & Snow carpeted horizon , never seen it & never will !!! I love the romance of Ice & Snow !
Thank you, glad you liked it!
Great tunnel footage, this seems like the only channel, that the driver uses the headlamp, good job, just subed....
Awesome, thank you!
Wow. Just wow! Unbelievable. And Thank You!!
Glad you liked it!
Hei HCG, I added a few simple videos to my site and then I started to understand what it is like to edit. It takes a big commitment on your part to supply TOG videos every week. I look forward to watching. From Uxbridge Ontario Canada Ha Det Bra.
Never been on train 🚂 before now. Marvelous.
Thanks, glad you like it!
Wow! You've had quite a day! An avalanche warning on the first run and a signal malfunction on the next one. You should go home, make a pot of coffee and while its brewing, take a nice bath and relax all those tense muscles. After the bath put on some comfortable clothes and enjoy a nice cup of coffee. Perhaps a nap might do you good as well.
I really did enjoy the video, HCG. Thank you very much for your continued posting of great videos! Take care and be safe.
Wow! the tunnel is so long
I couldn't look away. It just kept going. Lol.
Big mountains = long tunnels. Welcome to Norway ;)
Gave me tunnel vision
Oh my God on one side is a frozen hemisphere & on the other side is a still lake , blue & unfrozen bedded beauty !!! Time Less & Earthly !
Thanks for watching!
I would enjoy to take that journey someday. Interesting, views.
This is such a beautiful track! I'm so happy I found your 2477 channel- that one is always on in a tab on my Laptop. 🥰

Once again a beautiful ride thru the mountains, I love when you post a video of this route because it runs thru my favorite town "Stanghelle", a lovely place and I like the name. Thank you.

Opäť srdečne pozdravujem zo Slovenska 😃😃😃😃.
Thank you so much 😃
Rail Cow Girl Dude: your shadow is unobvious but looks like it's not a woman, if it is I apologize for the demeanor mistake. You still drive the most awesome and dangerous routes of all I ever watch on videos. Rail Cow Girl has nerves of steel. Awesome.
Dude? Deciding genders by shadows now, people are too woke in 2023 🤣
you are never on camera, just guessing. @@RailCowGirl
this is what heaven looks like in the winter ,magic
Thanks, glad you like it!
The Norwegian tunneling aptitude is paranormal. Such a difficult terrain and 100+ years spent making shortcuts through the rock
Absolutely Right : Para Normal
Para Noid , Is It The 7 th Sense ?
Do you have any information about the first tunnel in the video? It’s just massive. Is it underwater? Or through a mountain?
Beautiful
It looks like a colonoscopy of a mountain on some parts of the video but other parts are beautiful country scenes. Congratulations on living in an outstanding country.
Lol. Thanks for watching, glad you like it.
Ha, ha, that was a new way of describing it 🙂
Very nice and very good video, from Hungary.🤟🤟🤟
Norway is a beautiful land😍
Greetings from Italy
Hey ciao 👋 italiano anche io
Thank you!
Your vids are amaaaaaaaazing. Such a respid from the chaotic world we are living in.
Thanks, glad you like them!
Großartig die Fahrt, d i e machte Spaß.
Thank you!
Beautiful !
Thanks, glad you like it!
I found myself excited every time it came to the end of a tunnel. What is there to see? Are there more homes and how do they live out there? Where do they get necessary supplies? Oh, and traveling through those tunnels was scary. I felt like they were closing in on me. Thank you for the ride!
Right now where I am it's 90 degrees outside, and it's predicted to be well over 100 degrees most of the week (38 C). So I had to watch this video to cool down. No matter how cold and snowy winter gets, I never complain because I remember days like this.
Hope the video helped to cool you down!
Your videos are both beautiful and interesting.
Thank you very much!
Rail Cowgirl has entered the rails of our hearts❤️❤️!

When people get together to discuss humankind's most epic and prodigious achievements I'd like to think the building of this rail line would come up in conversation! Quite the spectacular journey-

Third World standards in the tunnels. Unsecured against rock fall. Look like half finished. Norway Rail Authority needs to travel to Switzerland on fact finding mission.

How long are the tunnels? This is insane. Construction of these tunnels is amazing...
Longest on the Bergen Line is 10300m long
@@RailCowGirl that is amazing.
I would never get bored riding the cab with so much different views in each season and the landscape is beautiful.
@@RailCowGirl10.3 km's !!! Very amazed ? & stunned ! Norway is progressive ! They are ahead scientifically !
Fantastic ! Stanley Kubrick would have loved those tunnel sequences. A real TRIP ! Big thanks.

Très jolie ! C est ta agréable !😊😊
We operate with the same rule for signal failure here in the US.
nice view
It sure is
So beautiful
Thank you!
These are really wonderful. I play them as I write, feeling like I'm writing on a train, as the journey continues, I know I have to stay and write, looking out the window and enjoying the view, the sounds and the feeling. Thanks so much. By the way, at 1:08:20 were they getting to go skiing or returning from a ski trip. Just curious.
Hei! Thank you for this beautiful video! I will be visiting Bergen at the very end of September. If I take the 6:20a train to Myrdal, will I be able to see the fjords in the nautical twilight? Or is it too dark?
@@CeliaSchaefer you won’t be able to ser the fjord from Myrdal. You’ll have to go down to Flåm to see it. I recommend you search for “Norway in a nutshell” and “Norways Best” in your favorite search engine.
@RailCowGirl Thank you so much for your speedy reply! I meant the scenery between Bergen and Myrdal. I'm concerned about missing it in the early morning semi-dark. Have you taken the early train in late September? (and I am indeed traveling down to Flåm and Alesund by bike 😊)
The tunnels make me nervous. But I loved the video
Thank you!
Happy International Womens Day to our favourite female drive!
Thank you!
Still pitch black at 8 am. Cool!
Oh, an old video showed up in my recommended, from before the new tunnel was finished. How often do you get signal failures like in the tunnel? That is often what you hear in the loudspeakers if there is a delay that there was a signal failure, or that a line fell down. Signalfel, rasad kontaktledning...
It happens from time to time. Thanks for watching 😊
Wow, watching that signal change and unable to stop could raise your heart rate a little. Accidently running a signal could change your entire career. Wonder what the passengers thought about the emergency stop.
We always inform the passenger for the reasons of a emergency brake. It was Avalanche signal, and the distance from the avalanche signal to the point of the avalanche detection system start is within good braking distance from the signal :)
