You just don't know how to comprehend a true masterpiece to be honest with you. Sorry bout it bud. If you play modern shooters, well guess what... you like halo too.
I remember playing that shit on legendary for the first time and couldn't figure how in human existence somebody was supposed to pass that level. Then one day I finally did and it was one of the greatest achievements of my childhood.
"The graphics are sooo GOOD!" is what I said back in 2001 and still stands "The story is so compelling" is also what I said and still stands "The gameplay is fantastic" is what I also said and still stands today
Maybe not the gfx one but story and gameplay are decades ahead of any other game today still the best combat balanced and fps game I have ever played. period.
I play this back in 2018 in my crappy laptop, but still gives me great memories back childhood...wort wort wort.... Even this remake trailer still gives me great days
This game was my childhood. It's storyline, graphics, atmosphere, and different lifeforms all made this game incredible. Remember when you first step out of your crashed ejection ship and you look at the beautiful world around you and then you see the big ring in the sky that wraps around back to you? So many good times and memories with this game. So compelling and so unthinkable, this game had it all. The younger generations will never have the same experience we all had with beautiful masterpiece of a video game. Sadly after Halo 3 I think everyone lost interest in the series, probably due to the story not having to do anything with the Master Chief. But Halo: Combat Evolved was the best game out there for the time. I'm sure you can all relate and agree.
Marcus Michel Yeah, so Halo 4 wasn't bad. It's was new, fun and an advance in Halo's story. Halo has bloomed over the decade. It's still a great game and I can look forward to Halo 5. Oh, and Congrats to Bungie's new game. We loved you Bungie.
It lost its sense of atmosphere. They made the flood and aliens less intimidating. I still can play the 8+ hour Combat Evolved campaign after all the playthroughs I've done over the years. I can't do that with any other Halo game. It just doesn't pull me in enough.
That's what I love about it. I like to watch it as if I was a person seeing it for the first time back then, completely oblivious to the impact it would have. It's almost haunting in a way.
+ZVER410 I love how the story plays. Combat evolved literally took place right after reach. Halo is a brilliant game. I honestly liked the old halos more such as 1,2,3,odst, and reach. Halo is kinda loosing me now. Il liked everything, the original oracle, the brutes, and the original covenant.
+Jordan Essen not for me, but its definitely number 5 on my all time favorite list.....only 4 games (Half-Life, Outcast, Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis and Warcraft III) I rate higher than Halo: CE...and as all 4 of those are PC games, I could say that Halo is my favorite console game of all time. And I have to say that from all of the Halo games, Combat Evolved had the best atmosphere and I also think the most legendary singleplayer levels, especially Silent Cartographer and Assault on the Control Room.
+II Joker II Ye Same for me...I honestly started to loose interest after Halo 3, which was slightly disappointing for me. Halo:CE and Halo 2 are the best games in the series for me...I think 343 did quite good job with Halo 4's singleplayer, but with Halo 5 they totally lost it.
No matter how far we go, no matter how much better technology gets....No other game will capture the alien atmosphere of wonder, exploration, fear, heroism and sadness that this game gave me almost over a decade ago. An inspiration for games and gamers forever. Truly, the most influential game in my life.
you and me brother, you and me both .... I remember when I played the game when I was like 9-10 years old or something ... I knew jack shit in English but I still managed to understand EVERYTHING (despite being a retrograde Russian teenager at a time), that is the first sign of a well written game. I remember ALL OF THE GLITCHES ( I still remember them all, from Pelican drop glitches in the Archives, to walking in ejected shuttle space in first mission, where you can walk thought walls if you can manage to exploit a glitch =) ) I've discovered in the game, since I had been playing it for a period of 4 years, the speedruns of the game I did before speedruns became popular, first time encountering the flood with its dreadful atmosphere and the feeling of being left to die alone, the fear and terror I had to endure in the Library to get through the Flood, the amazing musical masterpieces, such as "under cover of night, covenant dance, gun pointed at the head of the universe and etc." ... Thought we didn't have xbox multiplayer in Russia, I remember the green transparent xbox one (the real xbox) I had, those amazing controller which never broke and felt like a partly metal hand of yours, seemed like an extension of your arm, you could see the Xbox insides and all of its working parts, it felt like a living organism with its own, genuine heart ... I remember the first time I've finished the game on Legendary in solo, I was hoping to get an amazing new discovery like in old RPGS, but instead, I saw only the master chief taking off his helmet, and the cold, mesmerizing view of the galaxy as the music continued to play in its grimdark tone ... The times man, the times when some games had souls, more souls than Dark Souls chosen undead could ever hope to harvest, more soul than most human population has in our days .... All of my passwords from PC up to my private banking account are connected to John 117 and Pvt Jenkins (thought changed a bit), even back than I had the feeling (before he got his own book) that he is an amazing, heroic type of a guy, that is how much I am dedicated to the Universe, that is how much Master Chief inspired me that I became a bodybuilder and a 3D designer. Remember and cherish those times brother, they are almost like parents love, remember Halo: Combat Evolved
+General OFG what makes you say that? The campaign was very bad with cutscenes that made no sense and a story that barely resembled what the ad campaign promised.
+General OFG I have read the books but from the perspective of someone that's a casual Halo fan they don't know what the fuck is going on like who the fuck is Blue Team who is Tanaka and Vale and why does Vale know Sangheili? And the cutscene where Buck and Locke are talking about Chief and him being the reason both of them are there makes no sense at all! Buck joined because of Palmer. They shouldn't have had Buck in there at all as he ruined some of the dialogue between Osiris. Now to quote LateNightGaming tell me who Locke is as a character without telling me what he does, his history, or what he looks like. You can't even do that because he's a character that was never fleshed out. Halo 5 is a bad game and you can not deny that even though it has a decent soundtrack and the Intel is a good treat for lore fans it's still a bad game but I won't patronize you because you like it but do not say Halo 5 is a good game.
When I was like 13 my parents put their old tv out on the curb because it stopped working. I hauled it back inside and fixed it in my room. Saved up money by mowing the neighbor's lawn and bought a used xbox that smelled like second hand smoke, and a copy of Halo: Combat Evolved. It was the first time I earned something that was all mine. A similar thing happened a few years later when I inherited my dad's old car because I was the only one who could get it to start.
On this day 17 years ago one of the most legendary video games was launched this game was my childhood this game was the reason I started playing games This game is forever in my heart if I ever get an original xbox again this will be the first game I get for it I want to relieve my childhood back when things were so much simpler back when you had to get up from your comfy chair and get the game at the store no digital downloads and with that I have one last thing to say... Happy 17th anniversary halo Thank you for all the memories.
I definitely have some incredible memories about this game as well, memories that I will cherish forever! Playing Halo 1 and Halo 2 on the original Xbox was definitely an honor 🙌🏻🙌🏻🎮🎮
My opinion for campaigns 1. Halo 3 (Darkest of them all) 2. Halo: Reach (Sad... That's Halo) 3. Halo 2 (Loved the soundtrack but the story was a little fun) 4. Halo (I don't know why but to me it seems so boring) 5. Halo 4 (Hate it) My opinion for multiplayer 1. Halo (BTB Was awesome) 2. Halo 2 (BR's were boss) 3. Halo 4 (Sprinting and BR's) 4. Halo: Reach (High quality and DMR's) 5. Halo 3 (Meh Assault Rifles... Sand Trap was fun) CHILD HOOD! *Halo 3*
where it all started i remember me and my cousin smashing twinkies in my cousins basement playing co-op splitscreen a great and memorable time i had more fun at lan parties with a bunch of friends everyone brought their own tv setting up in all rooms of the house playing ctf on blood gulch and cooking 99 cent tombstone pizza's that is my best multiplayer experience nothing like hearing your friends scream from the other room when you kill them the online experience just will never touch that ever
MCC is now on PC. Remember Reach. Light fuse, run away. Give the Covenant back their bomb. Finish the fight. Welcome home.. John. Never been a better time to be a Halo Fan.
This game came out when I was about 1, so I wasn't able to play it then, but I manage to own an old copy of it that I played on my crummy laptop during high school. For a 16 year old game, I think this game's campaign is one of the best I've ever played, and that's saying something in today's age of graphics and immersion.
AvionSpace I just play this on my crappy laptop that connects to a computer screen since 3 days ago, still a great memory even my father does play before... I hope this game does famous again, but halo infinite is going to save the halo I hope
Man I remember when my dad came home with this game and an xbox and I was like 3 at the time and this was the coolest shit I had ever seen and got to play and was the first video game I've played. I'm 20 now but boy did the years fly by fast, one of the best franchises ive ever played and I'll cherish all the memories I have when playing this
Man. Looking back at this game brings alot of good memories. I remember there was nobody that compares other games and start a flame war, and nearly everyone is friendly. I miss the good old days of gaming...
Crazy that this is 16 years old and there are comments from 8 years ago (half that time) talking about how this game was their childhood!!!! I wonder how those people are doing and how they feel about the game now
The game is actually 22 years old ;) and it's still one of the greatest experiences in my life (Halo as a whole). It will always have a place in my heart. Greatest franchises that was ever made :)
The game that set the bar for console FPS - I have so many good memories from playing this and if it weren't for Halo and the friends I have made through MLG and Halo, I would not be the same person I am today. Halo CE will never die
This was the first shooter i played. In my school in Colombia each student had a laptop in classroom and we played this game. Most epic soundtrack for videogame.
I know that clip of the warthog barrel rolling from the wraith blast was a total fluke during game testing and someone said “that will look awesome in the trailer.”
I was 11 years old when this game came out and I'm glad my dad bought me this game as an early xmas present. This game was everything, when you first start this game, you get that feeling This game was my childhood. It's storyline, graphics, atmosphere, and different lifeforms all made this game incredible. Remember when you first step out of your crashed ejection ship and you look at the beautiful world around you and then you see the big ring in the sky that wraps around back to you? The younger generations will never have the same experience we all had with beautiful masterpiece of a video game. Halo: Combat Evolved was the best game out there for the time. I'm sure you can all relate and agree.
really shows how much less exposure videogame trailers got that this trailer has the flood reveal, foehammer crashing, keyes, sentinels etc yet people still consider a lot of that as big surprises in-game
This game... I remember my first playthrough landing on the ring with so much fascination looking into the horizon with amazement. What a beautiful game I thought. Oh and the gameplay, story, music was just so ahead. It'll always remain on top of of my top games list.
Tomb Raider, Prince of Persia, Warcraft, Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Hitman, Assaisans Creed, Need for Speed and even Angry Birds! BUT WHY THE HELL THERE IS STILL NO HALO MOVIE?
The game which introduced me to one of the best missions ever created in an fps game (You know it) and one of the most infuriating ones ever (You also know it)
Richie Spence You can buy ALL the Halo music. I know because I own it all. (With the exception of the 1 & 2 Anniversary albums) I've even seen Halo 5 on vinyl!
This is a game that’s actually as good as the trailer
yep
sarcastian no. Better, cause you get to play it
Better even.
You just don't know how to comprehend a true masterpiece to be honest with you. Sorry bout it bud. If you play modern shooters, well guess what... you like halo too.
sarcastian the flood sucked it was just annoying and not fun at all
The Library....... Scary words to Halo fans.
Amen
I still shiver.
Alex Mitchell no I think rocket flood on legendary when without grenades or explosives is scary
and Doctor Who fans lol
I remember playing that shit on legendary for the first time and couldn't figure how in human existence somebody was supposed to pass that level. Then one day I finally did and it was one of the greatest achievements of my childhood.
"The graphics are sooo GOOD!" is what I said back in 2001 and still stands
"The story is so compelling" is also what I said and still stands
"The gameplay is fantastic" is what I also said and still stands today
the graphics one might have changed tho in the 4 years since you made this comment.
@@tortisluvzu9678 definitely... Although GTA 5 was out by the time this comment was made and that had good graphics.
Oh how things change...
Maybe not the gfx one but story and gameplay are decades ahead of any other game today still the best combat balanced and fps game I have ever played. period.
Jack Colson lol dont get ahead of yourself. great game but definitely not “decades ahead of anything today” feels pretty aged now
Where it all began.
Hi Chief, can you tell me how you felt when Cortana returned in Halo 5? Because Halo 5 has no emotion, so I have to ask you directly.
chief,remember reach??
As always, lm exited for your next act in Infinite.
Ouch, right in the childhood.
Oof
Feels sad and bad man
When everything was simple when you used to stay up all night to have mini games and laugh all night with ur friends in other rooms makes me sad😢😭
I play this back in 2018 in my crappy laptop, but still gives me great memories back childhood...wort wort wort....
Even this remake trailer still gives me great days

But Halo: Combat Evolved was the best game out there for the time.

Halo 4 was all about the chief and all the hard times he had to go through and he spoke a lot more that's why I love chief even more
Marcus Michel Yeah, so Halo 4 wasn't bad. It's was new, fun and an advance in Halo's story. Halo has bloomed over the decade. It's still a great game and I can look forward to Halo 5. Oh, and Congrats to Bungie's new game. We loved you Bungie.
I wish I could...but,there are still some games out there that gave me teenhood memories. ..
Guitarfollower22 Yeah, and I can't agree anymore.
It lost its sense of atmosphere. They made the flood and aliens less intimidating.
I still can play the 8+ hour Combat Evolved campaign after all the playthroughs I've done over the years. I can't do that with any other Halo game. It just doesn't pull me in enough.
At the time of this trailer little did we know of the impact this game will have
I was drooling all over the earliest footage and the earliest news on the Xbox. Seemed like the best thing ever.
That's what I love about it. I like to watch it as if I was a person seeing it for the first time back then, completely oblivious to the impact it would have. It's almost haunting in a way.
I think this game left an amazing positive impact in everyone that played it 🙌🏻🙌🏻🎮🎮

How did we go from THIS to Halo 5
IDK what you are talking about but halo 5 was actually a pretty good halo game.
+General OFG what makes you say that? The campaign was very bad with cutscenes that made no sense and a story that barely resembled what the ad campaign promised.
Mr. Helix I'd suggest you read the books before playing the game, then it would make more sense.
I love reading comments from like 12 years ago saying nostalgia. Hits different 24 years later
Childhood feels!! I remember playing one mission over and over because I liked it! One of the best games ever created!
When I was like 13 my parents put their old tv out on the curb because it stopped working. I hauled it back inside and fixed it in my room. I know it's two months late to say,but good on you man for working for something you held dear.
Something about those humming sounds at the beginning and end of the video thats so nostalgic
Kyle
I wonder why they never brought it back in later games...
Back when trailers were good and their games were even better.
Incredible story, trailer, sound, opening cinematic. EVERYTHING IS THE BEST

That feel when you see "10 years ago" as the upload date for a video in your search results...

Halo if not the best shooter game the best space game
And one of the best storylines in my opinion
angie castro also the best
Best space game, best shooter, best story/lore, best franchise in the industry. The only reason Microsoft remains in the game.

This trailer contains a massive spoiler because it shows the flood. Discovering them is one of the best moments of the game.
I was 11 years old when this game came out and I'm glad my dad bought me this game as an early xmas present. This game was everything, when you first start this game, you get that feeling
So compelling and so unthinkable, this game had it allI.
The younger generations will never have the same experience we all had with beautiful masterpiece of a video game.
Halo: Combat Evolved was the best
game out there for the time.
I'm sure you can all relate and agree.
I can't believe I realized I hadn't actually seen the trailer for the first one. It's perfect.
really shows how much less exposure videogame trailers got that this trailer has the flood reveal, foehammer crashing, keyes, sentinels etc yet people still consider a lot of that as big surprises in-game
I loved the music of this game. And about the game, this is one of the best game I ever played.
This was truley awesome
No modern game can compete with halo 1

This game is still better than Cod Bo2, Ghosts, and Advanced Warfare combined
I agree...
those are two very different types of games, appealing to very different player bases. I wouldn't say it's a competition
This game... I remember my first playthrough landing on the ring with so much fascination looking into the horizon with amazement. What a beautiful game I thought. Oh and the gameplay, story, music was just so ahead. It'll always remain on top of of my top games list.
