I remember seeing this video before Bungie was even acquired by Microsoft and the Xbox was even announced. Bungie was forced to scrap everything they worked on and rebuild the game from scratch for the Xbox in like less than a year. The game in this video is a much more open-world game than the one that was released on the Xbox. I don't even think this was a first-person shooter game at the time of this video.

The fact that I just played on this map because of project digsite brings joy to my heart I have waited years for this day and I finally got to walk around on this level geometry!!! It may not have everything shown here but just stepping foot on it and exploring it for the first time with a plethora of cut content is absolutely insane! Bravo project digsite! @@threebythestreet Correct, however this build of the map is believed to be an evolution of the 1999 map. There's a ton of environmental similarities they share. I also think Digsite said they may be close to getting their hands on this E3 2000 version of the map, so here's hoping!

@@therealsteel1634 Ahem, more game modes (infection, KOTH, stockpile, VIP, etc.), armor customization options, custom customs, armor effects, forge, not being able to pick what game mode you want, file browser, file share, custom game browser, firefight, more weapons, battle pass making everything pay to customize, EXP progression is awful, and to top it off, you can’t leave the lobby you’re in unless you go through the menu’s. Infinite needs so, SO much work.

I was just a wee lad at a school field trip, we went to some carnival outside and they had a Microsoft tent but you could only go inside if you had a parent, luckily enough my mom volunteered to go on the trip she asked if she could take me in, which we were able to, that was the first time I got to hold a xbox controller and play halo I didn't know what it was but little did I know it was going to be my first obsession and jumping into the multipayer and online shooting experience is something ill never forget. The line that span of 300 people at gamestop just to get the helmet for halo 3 was some of the best moments in my life.
You mean the halo 3 limited edition helmet that comes with a poster and game. I was 7 at the time when halo 3 released and my parents waited in line at GameStop to get me the limited edition halo 3 set, to this day I still have that very same helmet and I will never give it up or sale it since I could never find it again.
I was 3 years old when playing this, I watched my dad play it and I was tagging along on legendary. I got fucking scarred for life and I still get scared by it.
I remember watching this over and over again when it was originally destined for PC. And one day I went to preorder it and they said that it was no longer coming out for PC it was going to be an xbox exclusive. Nobody even knew what an xbox was back then. Crazy how times change.
Man, remember how everyone is crying about the gameplay footage of halo infinite just released? Look at this. LOOK AT THIS. Halo CE looked SO much better at launch than the E3 footage.
It’s not just about graphics tho, every mechanic in that infinite gameplay, and literally everything that was displayed was fucking ugly and hideous, from the grappling hook to the bubble shied and the weird shield recharge animation etc etc, the whole shit dull atmosphere which hasn’t got a patch on this halo 1 trailer which literally gives me an adrenaline rush

More than anything I think this was a demo for the brand new game engine Xbox was going to have. To show what the Xbox was capable of. IIRC Halo was made in a short amount of time and they were hella rushed to finish making it for the release of the Xbox.

The trailer was released while this was still a mac game and it was bought by microsoft and brought to the xbox shortly afterwards. Big changes were made to the engine when the game was brought to xbox. I'm not sure how much code remained from the mac version in what shipped on the xbox.

@@therealsteel1634 Ahem, more game modes (infection, KOTH, stockpile, VIP, etc.), armor customization options, custom customs, armor effects, forge, not being able to pick what game mode you want, file browser, file share, custom game browser, firefight, more weapons, battle pass making everything pay to customize, EXP progression is awful, and to top it off, you can’t leave the lobby you’re in unless you go through the menu’s. Infinite needs so, SO much work.

In Halo CE they were actual useful in groups, in Halo 2 you had to give them good weapons to make them useful, in Halo 3 keeping they alive was definitely a challenge and in Halo 4 they were non existent, halo 5 what are marines?

I was just a wee lad at a school field trip, we went to some carnival outside and they had a Microsoft tent but you could only go inside if you had a parent, luckily enough my mom volunteered to go on the trip she asked if she could take me in, which we were able to, that was the first time I got to hold a xbox controller and play halo I didn't know what it was but little did I know it was going to be my first obsession and jumping into the multipayer and online shooting experience is something ill never forget. The line that span of 300 people at gamestop just to get the helmet for halo 3 was some of the best moments in my life.
You mean the halo 3 limited edition helmet that comes with a poster and game. I was 7 at the time when halo 3 released and my parents waited in line at GameStop to get me the limited edition halo 3 set, to this day I still have that very same helmet and I will never give it up or sale it since I could never find it again.
I find it interesting that they actually had the gauss hog originally but took it out and then brought it back in later titles

It’s not just about graphics tho, every mechanic in that infinite gameplay, and literally everything that was displayed was fucking ugly and hideous, from the grappling hook to the bubble shied and the weird shield recharge animation etc etc, the whole shit dull atmosphere which hasn’t got a patch on this halo 1 trailer which literally gives me an adrenaline rush

More than anything I think this was a demo for the brand new game engine Xbox was going to have. To show what the Xbox was capable of. IIRC Halo was made in a short amount of time and they were hella rushed to finish making it for the release of the Xbox.
@@Trathaal No this build was originally made for the Macintosh version of the game. The trailer was released while this was still a mac game and it was bought by microsoft and brought to the xbox shortly afterwards. Big changes were made to the engine when the game was brought to xbox. I'm not sure how much code remained from the mac version in what shipped on the xbox.
