agreed
Omg I found you through your manifesting 10k video and now you're at almost 300k
I like this guy
Thanks Leon, myself and Tyler got a lot from your interview and it inspired us to try something in the next video too :)
Love your channel!!! Keep up the awesome work
Awesome advice Leon and Film Booth! Now I just need to hone in on my story telling skills. Cheers to success and greatness for you both!
I like your plans for the future and what you‘re making out of this amazing platform. And I also like Ed. Quality content ⭐️
What advise would you give to me for my channel? If you don’t mind I would appreciate it
My key takeaways:
- Desire, obstacles, stakes, (Add why is it important and resolution)
- Focus on why people should watch something (90%), before giving your point (10%)
- Tell a story before making a point
- Build the skills to deserve the views
Congratulations on the 100k! Well deserved this is the only UA-cam advice channel I actually enjoy
Like no seriously, the only one to date 🤞🏽😂
Yea only one who makes it truly entertaining to learn
Yes
Yes your right 😊
Your channel is going to grow substantially with this kind of information and story telling. I feel your channel is one of the only "how to grow" channels with valuable non recycled content out there. Thanks for everything Film Booth, now time to apply what i learned.
I appreciate that!
For real! I second this comment. He is so valuable.
I was taking notes the whole time, and I can't wait to implement them. Thanks Ed and Leon!
Didn’t expect to see you here
Good to see you are still keen on learning after all of the success you have had and the great content you create. Good on you mate, can't wait to see more from you! :D I know you can do it :)
Exactly the same at another level hahaha. This is a gold mine.
This was a really eye-opening interview. The top content creators of the last two years do seem to know how to tell great stories. Thanks for this video, Ed.
I love watching interviews like this, but all of these tips seem to work best for the hyper-specific clickbait/entertainment types of channels like Mr Beast and Airrack. Would love more info on how I can translate these kinds of things to lifestyle/art/tutorial kinds of content
This video may be the best video I've seen in the past several months. Specifically, there were takeaways that were EXACTLY what I needed to hear. Now - I need to implement them.
WOW. Super helpful video. Thank you for making this Ed!!
I see you went big on Shorts, some big view numbers there!
Ed is back with a Banger!! Thanks for helping me grow my tech channel... Congrats on 100K 😎

Can you pls make a video on how to think for youtube viddeo ideas
@@jatindesai6088 I've done that already
@@FilmBooth well YOURE AMAZING i promise you approximately 8 years later i will be having 10 mil (going to start after 2years)
Very inspiring. Going to re-evaluate my channel and try to implement these tips.
Very informative video, love it!! Some notes I took:
Who’s the character?
What’s the desire?
What’s the obstacle?
What are the stakes?
Why is it really important?
What’s the resolution?
What’s the one core idea/final message of the video that wraps everything up?
Is there an incentive to watch until the end?
Can I add something?
What are the different loops I can open?
What are the different questions the viewer can ask themselves?
What’s the hook?
What do viewers need to see (title and thumbnail) so they can get what they clicked for?
Is there a way to make them laugh/feel surprised/something in the first 10 seconds?
Is there a way to have two storylines (another reason to watch)?
Storyboard:
What are the storylines/hook/happenings within the video?
Which obstacles/footage do you need?
Have a vision in mind.
Tell them a story of why something is important that they can identify with.
Go on exciting adventures with multiple people involved.
Help people in your community achieve their goals.
Build the skills to DESERVE the views.
Learn about titles and thumbnails.
You're back! I watched all your videos and was waiting for a new one!
I’ve been waiting for your new content, and it was so worth the wait! Thanks for helping us on our UA-cam journey :)
Congrats on 100k man!
Congratulations on the 100k!
Great to see you uploading again. I've been checking back periodically to see if you've uploaded yet
Another great video as always. Congratulations 🎊🎈 on 100K !!!
This is gold! Thank you so much for this video!
I’ve been following Leon Hendrix since he had 900 subscribers so I can’t wait to watch this!
Congratulations on the 100k
This really helped me rethink about some upcoming videos. Great video & content here.
Congratulations on 100k subs 🥳🎉
Who knew thumbnails were so attractive!! Thanks bro this whole video was crazy good!!
Big congrats on 100k bro :)
Congrats on 100k Ed
This one was packed full of killer info! It’s all about learning. On a side note your lighting is looking so good 👌🏻keep the great content coming
Great vid. Storytelling in reaction videos is difficult to pre plan but I’m going to figure out the formula
It’s challenging but a skill well worth the effort.
This channel has a video on Mr Beast's reaction videos btw
Great video, thanks for making it and giving a good insight into his channel.
Yes congrats mate. You deserve it
Super tight interview. Great content. Thank you.
I'm sooo here for your videos!! They've helped me so much! 🙌
I loved the part about desire, obstacles and stakes. It's so easy to just put out a boring video with minimal editing and expect it to decently. But I now realize, making the video something that the viewer can relate to and watch comfortably is so so important! Going the extra mile is what makes a video do good, I think. I'm gonna start using this in my videos too!
This video is genuinely super helpful and motivating. Partially because I'm already doing some of this for my first video that I'm releasing in 2-3 days.
Thanks so much for the work you do. Also, can I just say that your thumbnails are SERIOUSLY improving. Love that shit
Wow the clarity of that presentation and insight into youtube was awesome, cheers for sharing that !Stay safe!
HAPPY 2022!! And congrats on 100K!! LOVE your channel! Totally agree about telling a story, it's a talent all on its own!
Really enjoy your vids, always different and offer fantastic value ❤️❤️👍📢
Wow, lots of value in this video. Can't wait to apply it to my channel!
MAN!!! You are an absolute Genius.
3 days ago, I came across one of your videos, I really liked it and started to binge watch your channel.
Everything you say, just clicks and the way you present it, is awesome.
So I took action, yesterday I made a video, edited it to the best of my limited ability but I implemented everything I learned from your videos (well as much as I could or remembered to).
Hello and behold, this latest video is my number one performing video out of my last 10.
I hope others see this comment and appreciate that your content is awesome. It's easy to sit there and appreciate your videos though, the most important thing is not just to thank you for your content, but more importantly, take action.
You 100% deserve your success and I will 110% be booking a one hour call with you soon, the value you give for free is awesome so I don't mind paying. I just want to get another 5-10 videos up first so we can look at it together. Thank You again.
Good work!! Glad the videos are helping, thank you for your support
Thank you for sending me down another fantastic rabbit hole Ed! Congrats on 100K!!! I wanna see you dance!
This is golden - so so wonderful to watch all tho videos you make. Perfectly made!
Awesome sauce! Thank you for this! Gonna try this
Welcome back Ed, missed you. Hope you had a great Christmas and all that jazz.
I see a lot of the bigger channels don't spend any time on video descriptions these days. More great tips in this video, thank you
Yea its something I put little to no effort in to. UA-cam knows what youre talking about and knows what item youre holding in our hand, I feel like descriptions don't carry much weight
Man I absolutely adore your style of Editing!
This was super helpful! Thank you so much for sharing!
Love your channel and always look forward to your videos. This is just another reminder to keep improving my thumbnails and titles to get those clicks! Also, the piece about what a story needs at 1:50 is very helpful right now 😁
Great video with so much helpful value! We've missed you
This is insanely valuable advice, and your channel is going to be at least 5x it's size by this time next year.
Love your content man!
some heavy stuff to take in man! thanks
Great video! Nicely put together! ✅
This is one of the single most valuable videos I've seen of yours, and definitely that I've seen on the topic. You're easily my favorite channel for this stuff, by far. I've said it before, but you're killing it. Keep it up, my friend 🙂
Definitely will be applying for that position. I look forward to recording the intro video!
Ed, I just love your channel. Your are taking UA-cam education to the next level with your creativity and insight. Thank you for sharing!
This is something I’ve been starting to implement lately and this nicely reinforced how important thumbnails and titles are
Thanks for this master class! We're keen to check out Leon's channel now and see him in action!
Thank you for making this. This is good advice
This is the most useful video i have seen about growing on youtube, took so many notes. Having a template is a GENIUS idea, definitely going to try and make one for myself.
Wow! So much value in one video. I’m here taking notes.
Ed you are at 100K. Amazing. Spectacular!
I feel like this video has advice that has been shared on this channel before, because it’s great advice. I just wonder how to adapt some of the principles to a faceless channel. Particularly the story telling aspect seems to be elevated for the two of you (and others) because of your presence on screen. It’s more dynamic.
As I writer who wrote some books an studied a lot of the topic, what they are talking about is the main structure of narrative: the hero desires, so he struggles and then he succeed. But, there's other ways to interpret it, and to apply what they are talking about you got to change the genre, which requires skill, but would be something like this:
(Example of curiosities/news channel)
Who is the hero? The viewer
What he desires? To know something important
What is the conflict/struggle? Not knowing
Then, they pick a article and draw the picture, someone is the bad guy or the good guy, etc etc, it depends on the tendency's of the reporter
After that, the hero succeeded (the viewer now knows the news that you wanted to share).
Note that it needs to be relevant, so the outcome or what wraps the video must generate catarsis in the viewer.
Hope that's not too complex.
Check out Beluga
@@hehehehe5250 that was actually pretty helpful because I had a hard time visualizing how to apply this to my niche. I may have to think long and hard about some aspects of this to apply to each video but this gave me more of framework. I appreciate this!
@@earthtotom will do, thank you.
@@earthtotom beluga did a face reveal
Wow. This is incredible. Thank you very much for the inspiration.
WOW! Great tips for growth. Claiming this energy for 2022!!!
This channel has helped me so much. By making me focus on story writing. My scripting process is now 7x longer than when I was just starting. It feels so much better creating the video and I feel like the extra time saves time in the edits. Will see in 2022 if the focus on script pays off but according to your guest today it is one of the most important factors.
This soo true, the more you prepare the less time you're going to be spending on editing.
Great interview. Definitely useful. Thank you!
Great clip, Ed! Thanks for sharing Leon story! 👍Great advices! You're one of my favorite channel!
Great insight - thanks for taking the time to collate this.
Golden tips! Can't wait to implement. Thank you! ☺️ 🙏
Well done. You’re doing great work
Perfect video!!! I would love to see more of this!!!
Thank you for this. Love this channel. I'm about to relaunch my podcast and one of my main focuses will be thumbnails and titles. I always heard it was important, from you as well, but this guy said it in a way it clicked.
Leon came onto my radar this year. I love his content!
Most helpful channel for growing UA-camrs on UA-cam. Thanks Ed!
Such random timing you releasing this video. I was just thinking I need to go back through some of your videos about thumbnails and then the first part of this really told me what I needed to hear. Went and drastically changed the thumbnail on my latest video (which killed the OCD part of me - you'll know why if you see my channel page), but almost straight away the click rate on the video went up 5%.
Great video!! Thanks for the advice! Will be adding these tips for my upcoming videos.
Wow, I started watching both these channels around a month or two ago - crazy how small the world is!! What a great collab 👏 👍
This is gold. I think I have learnt more in this vid than pretty much all the vids I watched in 2021. I'm definitely putting Leons tips into practise in my next vid. Thanks Ed for making this vid ATB.
Ed is a genius. Plain and simple.
Thanks for sharing this system, super helpful 🙏
I found you through the suggested videos, First your videos are very informative. I just made a UA-cam channel so I'm definitely doing my research, Thanks for all your help. Please keep it up! Just subbed!❤🙏🏻
I hit the subcribe button after binging your videos. When I successfully build my audience and have a UA-cam journey video, I will definitely include you in to recommend for YT starters. Such an amazing help. Keep up the good work.
Such a great learning time. Thank you very much for all this huge tips and experience.
This was perfect for me, I fixed a lot of my issues with the video aspect of my channel from your videos and this gave me some great ideas to boost my thumbnails and titles as well as the videos themselves. Many thanks!
I really want to apply this logic to REACTION videos and go on a warpath to changing the niche and giving it the value it deserves! This video helped me get 1 step closer to that reality
One thing I'd hope you would change in the reaction video genre is that you'd make it unique, instead of just riding popular videos or artists fame to stay relevant. That's what I notice about reaction channels that I do t really like.
@@Hysai give me an example cause I think you mean like providing creative value also
@@MugnifyRTS that's what I mean. Every reaction yter is basically the same, so it'd be very nice if a few actually brought their own creative twist to the genre, instead of just watching a video/music video
@@Hysai that’s always gonna be the baseline for a reaction but we can make more of an effort to provide more interesting perspectives and video editing.
He's talking about using filmmaking skills to tell a story, and make the best videos possible. The effort going into each video is so much like making a film!
Some UA-camrs - Future filmmakers in the making... or maybe just ahead of the curve on the future platform of films? ...I wonder.
Always providing great tips on how to grow on UA-cam. Thanks so much ☺️
Calling all new youtubers!!!!
We got this we're all in this TOGETHER 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
This was genius & right on time! Thanx a bunch ☺️🌿
Wow, this is so amazing and I can't wait to put this into my channel.
Another great video that I learned lots of.
This is gold advice! It just made me scarp my whole video plan and restart again
Nice to see you’re back
Yay! New video! Waiting has been agony. 😂
Pure gold. Greetings from Argentina :)
Straight to the point. Great interview!
Awesome!! Thanks for the share 👍
This was really helpful. Thank you!
My notes...
Questions to ask yourself when making a video:
Who is the character?
What’s the desire?
What’s the obstacle?
What are the stakes? Why is it important?
What’s the resolution? What’s the 1 core idea that is the final message of the video that wraps everything up?
Is there an incentive to watch until the end?
Can I add something?
What are the different loops I could open?
What are the different questions that the viewer could ask themselves?
What’s the hook?
What do viewers need to see in the first few seconds based on the title and thumbnail so they feel like they are going to get what they click for?
Is there a way to make them laugh or feel surprised or feel something in the first 10 seconds? Because if you can make them feel something in the very beginning, that’s one of the strongest hooks.
Is there a way to have 2 storylines? If you only have one storyline people might lose interest, but if you introduce a second one, you give people a second reason to watch. Having multiple storylines gives you a higher chance that people will keep watching.
Storyboard process. What are the storylines? What can be the hook? What are the different things that can happen throughout it. If it’s scripted then I can plan out everything. If it’s something that is to be determined depending on my experience, I might just plan ahead and what are the obstacles that I might face? What is the footage that I need? And have everything planned out. Preparation is everything. If you don’t know what the video looks like before you start editing the video or making the video, you are wasting your time.
There has to be a story attached to it. People don’t listen if you just tell them - this is how it is. If you want to teach someone something, spend 80% of your time telling them why it’s important. And the best way of telling them why it’s important is by telling them a story they can identify with. And then the last 10/20% is ok - here is how to do it. Desire, obstacle, stakes. And ideally, it’s something they can identify with. Find something relatable that everyone can relate to.
At the end give them just a few thoughts. A few thoughts that get them to think.
The tip I would give to people who do sit-down videos is to attach a story to every point you want to make and tell that story before you make your point.
Love your videos! I studied them over Christmas and my first video back is my best ever performing video! Always great advice :D
This video is gold! I just started adding more of a story line to my videos. It takes a lot of planning, but I feel like more of my personality comes through as well. Thank you for making great content!
Great points, makes perfect sense for the storytelling for every point you need to make.
Your videos are tremendous mate🙌🏻
