I love how ed is the only creator in the UA-cam education space that follows his own advice 😅
and it's always so meta! I love watching him make the video about making the video concept...
@@nytn inception!
What about Nate? :)
@@actorsprofession6450 good info, but he’s not edutaining
Paddy Galloway?
Man the storytelling, editing and effort is unreal
Ed is by far my fav youtube educator. I take a lot of inspiration from him!
Educational! That’s the word I was looking for to describe his channel!! Thanks
People on their dog walks whilst Ed films in the woods: 👀
LOL I had to stop a few times for that exact reason 😂
Now that everyone films TikToks all over the place people are getting used to it 😂
How does this guy not have at least a million subscribers by now. These videos are so well made
His videos are for creators, not just watchers
Thank you, hopefully this helps me with this new channel
I watch a youtuber, The Mighty Jingles, who is a wonderfully goofy British retired sailor who does video game commentary. One of the running jokes is that he regularly misidentifies things, to be corrected by the entire comments section.
It occurred to me one day, "what if he does it on purpose to drive up engagement?" People on the internet LOVE correcting people, so if you add a verbal typo, like the "ChatGTP" one, and then correct it in the description or a pinned comment, that could drive up the engagement while not actually sacrificing the quality of the video.
Just a thought.
I don't comment too often, but this is an incredible video - one of my favorites from you! Too often as video creators we sweat the little stuff that doesn't really matter in the end. One of the things you learn is how to intelligently direct your energy toward the crucial elements that actually matter to your viewers. Keep putting out awesome stuff!
You set the bar nice and high Ed.
Your way of packaging valuable educational content in a fun, authentic way is inspiring.
Thank you!
The "Film Booth Shuffle" totally saved us! We were running out of time, and your tips allowed us to take an okay video and turn it into the best video we've ever done. THANK YOU!!! You guys always rock, but after 2 years of watching every video you make I can't believe you still manage to surprise and impress. Thank you for existing. ❤️ Hope to qualify for your Edutainers course one day!!!
Ed, you make all of this look too easy and that's why you're amazing to follow. If I can implement 3% of what you show us regularly that would be a big win for me personally. Keep up the great work, we appreciate you!
I feel like this is great! This is how we come up with new ideas, by limiting ourselves and forcing ourselves to be creative
Ed, you are very brave :) I love the fact that you were willing to do this, and it must have been quite painful initially knowing what you knew, and not being able to tell anyone.
I watched the video at the time, I do think something in the back of my mind told me that it wasn't quite at the usual level, and also I did notice GTP :) But again, subconsciously, I think assumed that you were working with a topic that was time sensitive so made the video more quickly than usual. So I didn't come away thinking much of it, other than it being an interesting video on GPT. I certainly didn't twig anything like this was going on :D
Thanks for all your vids, I still get excited every time there's a new Film Booth video out :) Cheers
I don't usually comment but wow this video just kept me hooked from start to end your personality and editing mix so well this channel is really inspiring.
Thank you so much!!

Greetings fellow Robloxian! To stumble upon another member of our species on this desolate planet of content creation is a rarity indeed. Farewell, fellow spacefarer. May your journey be filled with wonder and discovery.
Such a good video, Ed. Fun, informative and generally top class just like the rest of your work. Keep it up! ❤
I LOVE your stuff, brotherman!! Soooo helpful!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
Loved your channel since the first day of watching! Now I’m learning video editing and super excited to see how it goes
Fellow UA-camr here just wanting to say that I love your videos man. The production is awesome, somehow the script is usually even better. Most importantly, I've been successful on UA-cam for over a decade now but have kind of plateaued and your videos have inspired and motivated me in a way that hasn't happened in years. Thanks for what you do man!
Love your Art & Creativity Ed!
Your videos are always super entertaining and informative at the same time. Thank you for making great videos.
Dude, you rock. Loved this vid. Do another one!
Absolute Genius. So many techniques shown not told, and many told on top! Thank you, Ed!
This was an awesome video Ed, very creative experiment ! I went full time on UA-cam a year ago and your videos have been a huge help! Legend!
I love your commitment to the process. I remember watching that video and thought you'd actually done the video in that way to jolt us into watching it, not because you were cutting corners! Haha
Some of the channels I love watching the most are literally almost 100% talking head, one location. As long as I feel connected to the person and they are talking about something I'm interested in hearing their opinion about, I can sit and listen for a long time.
I love your entertaining and educational combo 😀
I've used this technique after watching an earlier video of yours Ed. I only shifted from one angle to a second one. Talking head video and some basic stock b-roll. Took an extra half hour to film. But the retention went from my usual 52% to 62% using that technique. It's genius! I love it. I have 4 hours available to make each video and so for me this was a result. Thank you Ed.
LOVE the delivery. Nice work and take a bow :D
I appreciate all the work you do. 😊
I just watched the video that implied this was a lazy video, and wow ‼️ I didn't even notice. This video was well informative and you did a great job, we're glad to have someone with your level of expertise assist us grow our channels. Kudos to you
I must say you are the best out there in your niche by making your videos so entertaining to watch and Educational at the same time.
But I only have one advice taking only myself as a reference. Some times I click out because you're not getting to the pt faster. Noting that every thing you say is crucial to the topic your talking about, but it feels like you can cut somethings out to get faster to the pt.
I know every youtuber tries to push their video to 8 minutes to get the most out of the ads, and your videos as they are now are absolutely amazing. But I just wanted to throw my opinion there.
some of my most popular videos are spare-of-the-moment ideas, filming and editing
The Film Booth shuffle edit is what my edits look like. It's the way to go if working 9-5 and limited on time to run a channel, but creating a template with your most used assets helps (sound effects, background music, logos, transitions, titles that you can re-adjust for context rather than creating from scratch..).
Great video! I really enjoyed your tips on how to blow up a UA-cam video. It's always fascinating to see how the algorithm works. Keep up the good work ;)
This was SUCH an interesting video.
As a newer subscriber to your channel who consistently binges and watches, I did notice in the last video you mis referenced the software but I didn’t mind.
This is where it gets interesting for you for two reasons:
1. You let yourself be okay with that mistake and kept moving forward keeping you on track. This ended up having a positive effect for you because people who were “so upset” engaged with the content. Which brings me to point two.
2. Your video, BECAUSE of mistake, created engagement causing the algorithm to push it MORE! Not all press is bad press, especially in a algorithmic world.
All in all I think you succeeded! Much love. ❤
Excellent case study and love how you practice what you preach and find the lesson. The usual genius
Your videos are amazing man, you’ve been a huge inspiration in starting my own channel.
Keep up the amazing content! 😊
Haha I def watched that and had no idea it took 5x less work. Nice job 👌🏼
This is the video I needed rn. I also spend forever on my videos trying to be a perfectionist but I'm gonna set a deadline and just post my videos for a while and see how that goes :) thanks!
Glad to here that, I almost didnt edit this, but for me it was one of the biggest lessons of last year
Love the quality of your videos! I recently started a UA-cam channel and I am slowly figuring things out. I am only making shorts for now until I am confident enough in writing scripts, making and editing videos, coming up with good titles, hashtags and tags. In April I should be confident enough to start generating long-form videos.
Thank you for all the info you share. It's really helping me understand how UA-cam works.
Very nice. I suspected it was the ChatGPT video once you showed the shuffle. That difference in shooting was really noticeable. It was a nice change though.
I also made a ChatGPT video, a little before yours, and it is my best performing video by far. I have videos with more views, but it's the first video I've had that got so many views so quickly.
"I should've been lazy years ago." 😂 So entertaining to watch and engaging humor.
This is such great information as always!!! I have a DIY nail channel where I do tutorials and I struggle to figure out if any B roll should be done. Very minimal B roll is done in my niche. Only people showing their face as they talk about what nails they’re doing in the video.
Well done mate 🙌
I don’t have time to go different places for shots so I’ve used that similar technique already. I’ve got one old camera and one old computer, and only use IMovie, so I have to really think all the time about what I can do to help my videos with having the lack of fancy editing and and lack of time 😅
You're the best youtube channel out good stuff man
This is awesome. Love these ideas. So helpful. Now inspired to improve my videos.
I love your videos bro!❤
Thank you ❤ I have so little time to create a video and I was struggling with it. You helped me a lot thank you good looking, intelligent creator 🙌
One man’s laziness is another man’s efficiency 😅
Great video, Ed! Love the Film Booth shuffle, I’m definitely gonna be using that!
That dog really loves you❤. Mine died about a month ago and it’s really nice to see the mutual love.
Your video editing is TOP NOTCH!
Lazy is my middle name this is perfect 😂 we got this small creators!! Don’t give up!! ❤
Love your videos, Ed. I must say I have been spending incredible amounts of time filming and editing my videos lately, trying to make them the best I possibly can. But I seem to be getting fewer views every time. Maybe I'll try this and work out what the core issue is. It's getting very frustrating. Last year, my videos were all doing well. Now they are getting fewer views than 2 years ago, and I don't know why.
Thumbnails and titles are the biggest killer, look to improve there so your effort can get the views needed to work
I just learn so much from you by just watching your videos, and your style. Thank you for sharing your insights. You are the best :-)
Not the wink 😂 Such good stuff, always!
Hello and I just want to say thank you for motivating me to start
Another amazing video! Love your content. :)
Ahahaha! I sat there stone-faced just listening and processing information BUT... That wink at 5:40 made me laugh so out loud I accidentally woke up my dog 😂😅
These videos are so great to watch!
Ed, your videos are always entertaining, informative, and jam-packed. Though the one -500% (???) video got support, have you considered the trade in social capital that may result if a lesser channel repeated that method video after video?
You are honestly the best UA-camr that teaches and helps others grow their own channels. Thank you!
You are genius in quality videos
Thanks bro will try it
This is amazing! I believe some of these ideas will really help with my talking head videos. Always amazing!💥
@@FilmB00th use it to make money for yourself. Ode!😎
I love the spinning idea, GENIUS. ❤
Part of making your videos better is making them easier and faster to make. I've noticed that the faster I move the better and more creative the end results.
great video bro!
Thank you for this! I always stress over editing and I'm a perfectionist, so I see everything that I need to fix. And being a perfectionist, at least for ME 😉 doesn't mean I think I do everything perfect and strive for it; I Don't think I do anything perfect so every little thing bothers me. Letting it go and having a few extra hours in the day to be productive with another video or with every day life things is more important 🙂
Your channel is actually a gold mine
there are people like ksi , ali abdaal etc.. all great youtubers but this is something else and I am so invested in all of your videos , please don't ever stop!
"I just sat on something spiky" was VERY Partridge.
Fantastic video, Ed.
liked and commented before watching just to help this video blow up
I want to work in the film industry, and we learn the importance of deadlines and the cost of every day of a project. Even if things can get quite busy, I do think it is good to set shorter deadlines at times. It pushes you to finish things and not be too perfectionist, because often things are already good even if you might not feel that way
You are soooo talented! It’s fun watching your content…AND I learn! Thank you!!!
Thank you so much!
@@FilmBooth Hope you enjoyed Iceland!! I was there in 2013 and LOVED it!
I can never miss one Film Booth video!
This dude has got me hooked to he's content like I'm drugs. Can't stop learning. F**king real applicable content.
This is the channel I’m holding up to myself as what to aspire to. Million miles off now but it’s a good star to steer my ship towards!
honestly when you mentioned that you kept calling it the wrong name I instantly thought "that's gonna be so much free engagement" lol might have to start doing that on purpose
You are doing one thing but saying another. I meant to say your editing skills are amazing. And this takes time. You my friend started to make most professional videos on youtube, its great to watch even when your story is boring 😀
You threw me off so many times in that comment 😂 but yes I agree - his editing skills are better than 99% of youtube videos
@Mikachu Gaming 😆 that's what happens when you drive a car and try to comment on videos 😄 I see there. You are about to defend him and fight with me, haha. But yeah I follow him for a while now, and honestly, his editing skills are amazing. And he's doing by the book to catch people's attention. Just wanted to say great job. Please keep up
Yoooo that spinning camera backdrop hack is 🔥🔥🔥
Just want to say thank you - started to really think about what you are saying and implementing your strategies and after two years of 10k subscribers I 4x’d in 2023 and continuing at an amazing rate. This guy is legit. 🚀🚀
Great storytelling. 👍
Nice video as usual!
Amazing video 👌🏼
Another awesome video 🥂
I always enjoy your videos.
Great tips bro 👍thanks
Cute puppy I hope Rocky looks like that grownup. 🥰
It’s a bit of a victory. At the same time though, your established audience has a certain expectation. If it drops in quality and consistently stays that way there’s a potential for them to stop watching the content. Every now and then I can’t see it as being viable though.
Benny is too cute ♥
that was interesting Thanks Ed
Man, I would like to request a video on applying these concepts to music playlist clicks
Could you do a video about how you find music that match perfectly your clip! It's amazing
I recon you blew up either a green screen or a back ground Bot. I liked the editing, the footage esp the background looked really fake.Does it matter? The story was keeping me engaged, so that should be the learning. Stay safe, have fun! 🍻🍻☺☺
I know this is quite different from your regular content, but is there any chance you could make a tutorial on your motion graphics?
Since you use FCPX, I guess you use Apple motion to do that? It would be awesome to see your workflow.
Thank you 🙏
Awesome video as always - but dang, 65 quid - don't you just hate the low earnings for winter?
Love bro music at the end🍗🔥🍗💯🍗🙏🤝
Video creators are like heart surgeons? I see what you did there. ;)
[Krzysiek]
I think leaving in those 3 mistakes like not calling it ChatGPT etc can possibly help a video. When it comes to engagement as those mistakes are likely to get people to comment on the video and then you can engage directly with those people.
You’ve got to get the award for creativity!
You just gave me a great idea and a solution to my block.
