    I was in the choir for this performance. One of the best moments of my life. Some fun facts:
    * Jason Bonham being on drums was a surprise to EVERYONE. He had told Led Zeppelin that he had a prior commitment and couldn't make it to the ceremony, and Dave Grohl had been on drums for all the rehearsals, including the live dress rehearsal.
    * This broadcast version has footage from both the dress rehearsal and the final performance
    * Nancy Wilson is super nice in person
    * Stephen Colbert came up to me and some other choir members after the show to tell us we did a great job
    * We rehearsed every day for 2 or 3 weeks for this performance.
    * When only the small choir is shown, the full choir is still singing, just behind the curtains

    The tears in Robert Plant's eyes followed by the smile on his face speaks volumes. There are definitely songs that are on the do not touch list, this is one of them, but this performance is one of the greatest tributes I have ever seen.
    Also, this song is an absolute masterpiece. Ann Wilson was 62 when she performed this and singers half her age couldn't kill this like she did.

    • @beldin2987

      Which "real" band does use auto-tune ? Is this maybe just a US thing ? Else there is also nothing wrong when backing tracks are used the right way. Its in the end even mor challenging for the band because that means they have to play on point with the right speed the whole time.
      But of course here i also mean only "real" bands and not just some hip-hopper or whatever americans have in their mind when they make these comments.
      Some examples are : Lovebites "Swan Song" where the piano comes at some point from a backing track since Miyako can't really play piano and guitar at the same time, even though she can do that one handed on both instruments.
      Ad Infinitum on songs where Melissa uses her clear vocals over underlying growling from herself, what she of course also can't do both live.
      Nightwish using some orchestra tracks for example at "Ghost Love Score"

    • @neilpatrickhairless
      @neilpatrickhairless 4 місяці тому +2

      Almost every band that has recorded music in the past 50 years has used pitch correction of some form or another in studio, whether they admit it or even know it or not. There are a lot of things that go into music production. As for backing tracks, yeah, Kennedy Center can afford backing vocalists for the band Heart to cover Led Zeppelin

    • @neilpatrickhairless
      @neilpatrickhairless 4 місяці тому +1

      Infact, I was just sitting with a very well known mixing engineer and live sound tech not long ago watching a video on Instagram from a very well known vocalist of a very popular band (won't name names) who was ranting about backing tracks and click tracks. The engineer was like, "what is this guy talking about? we have used backing tracks live for this guy since 2002... if anyone actually heard this guy's actual singing voice, he would have never sold a single copy of an album" - the guy was ranting about personal involvement in music and doesn't even know that people are only hearing about 12% of his actual voice in a live context.

    • @YerpDerp17
      @YerpDerp17 4 місяці тому

      @@beldin2987 This is what I think everytime I see this comment under literally every reaction video. lol Like no great singers use auto tune, it's what makes them great. There is greatness and beautiful voices in every generation. And you don't have to like them, but we can't just ignore them like they don't exist. lol You are allowed to prefer a certain time period or genre, but doesn't mean you should belittle everything else, simply because you don't prefer it, or you don't know they exist. The only genres that really use auto tune is a subgenre of hip hop and a lot of radio pop. But there are plenty of amazing voices that exist today.
      And to be all the way honest, I like when artist experiment with sounds. Many bands in the 60's and 70's started experiementing with the new technology. To name a couple popular out of the MANY, you have the Beatles and Pink Floyd. But the list is almost endless. Auto tune can be used by an artist, even those with a pretty voice. But there is a different in using something to achieve a specific sound or feeling, and an artist simply relying on it. I really feel bad for people who are so closed off to so much fantastic music.

      @gene6690 Greetings from Germany. Well, I don't like to make comparisons, and who can say who is the "best"? I'll put it this way: for my taste, for me personally, Floor Jansen is the only true metal queen. Followed by our German Metal Queen named Doro Pesch. And in terms of genre, I would classify 'Heart' as pop/rock or rock. Otherwise, I agree with you completely.

      @@stefanstock953 Greetings from South Africa. Yes you are correct with the distinction of Heart as a rock group. I was introduced to Nightwish and Floor during the beginning of the lockdown period in 2020 particularly Storytime from the Wacken 2013 show. I was totally blown away by the combination of the beautiful Tuomas compositions and this tall Godlike front women with an angelic voice known as Floor. She and Nightwish had such an impact on me that i booked and flew with my wife from South Africa to Gelsenkirchen, Germany to go watch them perform live. i was just worried that the pregnant Floor might succumb to some performance pressures and thank goodness nothing happened.
