Diesel Swapped Squarebody 10 Inch Lift Fabrication - Cummins Chevy K20 Ep. 1

- With our lifted and supercharged LT4 swapped K10 Chevy out of the truck, we finally have room to bring in this massive crew cab squarebody. This Cummins swapped 4x4 K20 is insane! But it's not crazy enough for the owner just yet. So he brought it here so we can do a similar lift to our old Gold K10. This time though, instead of flying through the install with a whole bunch of other work mixed in, we're going to give you guys the down and dirty on the process behind fitting and fabricating one of these lift kits into an old truck like this! There's a ton of measuring, grinding, cutting, and welding that goes in to making such a beefy lift kit like this work, and we're going to show you exactly how it's done!

Lesson Learned - if you want it done right, take it to a shop that knows what they're doing, take it to S2S. Great work!
Thank you so much! We try sharing these videos to give everyone the insight and know-how to do it themselves, but when it comes to getting stuff done safely, definitely take it to a professional to make sure it doesn't fall apart on the road!
Another great video showing Dave " Auto Wizard " at work with lift kit , he makes it look so easy 👍
Thank you so much!
Man not only does the Crew build a great rig out .they explained it to a tee !!! Another great video from salvage to savage.
Truth !
Thank y'all so much! We're glad you're liking the content!
You're really making some progress. One could say you are .... wait for it .... trucking along. 😁😁😁
Thanks! That really LIFTed our spirits! lol
I will watch anything about squarebodies especially lifted 4x4s.
Well done Gentlemen!
Thank you! Glad you liked it!
What's interesting is when the bodyside molding trim & emblems on the square body SUVs were redesigned in 1989, the bodyside molding trim & tailgate emblem designs on the square body pickups stayed the same all the way up through 1991 which was the last year for the square bodies.
Laid here and watched this with my four year old daughter. She couldn’t take her eyes off it! Great job guys!! Love the content!!
That's awesome! Sounds like it's time to buy her a project truck! lol
@@SalvagetoSavage gotta start building a squarebody for the 13 year old daughter first. Lol about to wrap up mine in the next few weeks.
Nice build
Thanks! We have part 2 coming out today at 11!
so impressed by the fab work, well done gentlemen!
Thanks so much for the support!
Nice to see someone take their time the first time. Checking the suspension for worst case with the wheels off and striping the rear down before welding show your attention to detail. Most (on UA-cam it seems) do suspension checks only with wheels on and rarely do I see vids posted of people stripping heat sensitive components before final welding. 😎
We try our best to not have to do it a second time when there's an opportunity to do it right the first time! Thanks for watching and thanks for the support!
These look so good when you shorten the frame and put a short bed on a square body crew cab
Mike treasures that great work team you have, true professionals. Much success, Mike.
Thank you so much!
Such a cool suspension system.
Nice video.
Thanks!!! 👍
Cool truck, I like the way Dave explaines every step, makes it seem so easy...even I could do it!
You for sure can! With a little time and patience I bet you can tackle it!
Wholly shid! This thing is awesome!
It's such a massive truck!
@@SalvagetoSavage but not so big it looks like a brodozer mall crawler. Plus the suspension is functional and awesome!
I have a 1991 square body crew cab that came with the 4L80E overdrive transmission from the factory. Mine has 10" lift, and the same exact tire and rims your crew cab has, but my lift is not as custom as yours because it is just a shackle flip rear with a 4" block. The front is just a SkyJacker 8" springs with an ORD 1" 0 rate. It also has an ORD 1" body lift. The drive train is just a new 350 TBI crate engine, and the 4L80E I rebuilt myself with all the tricks like rollorized out put, internal dual feed, etc, etc.
Súper 😎 to se what’s the thinking 🤔 process. Thank you!
We're stoked you like the video! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the pointers!!!
Thanks for watching! Hope you liked the video!
Great job David, Mike! Thanks for sharing and explaining the procedures
Thanks for watching! Glad you like it!
another great job boys
Thank you!
Nice job, bottom tabs for rear shocks look thin but you are the expert. Niiiice fastback on the background
No panhard bar needed in that 4 link system??? Another great looking job from S to S team!!!
Awesome build guys
Thank you!
At 2:24 of the video you showed the bump stops. Maybe you missed placed them.
I'm liking where this video is going!
Good eye! The bump stop plates were there, but Dave was talking more specifically about the upper cylindrical bump stop holsters for the hydraulic KING bump stops in the kit. You'll be able to see exactly what he's talking about when he gets them welded up in the next episode!
@SalvageToSavage-. Thank you
Now that's my dream truck its awesome. Really nice guys
Thank you!!
I so wish I could own something like this in my lifetime but it will never happen 😅
It's possible! It's all about having patience. Maybe finding a project that isn't in the best shape and having the patience to tackle the projects little by little!
Well done!
You guys have seen a few squares so far. How bout attempting to put a new Chevy tow mirror on a square? They mount different but their location seems close. Bonus, get to keep the wing windows. Maybe do a production run of what’s needed for the swap. I’ll be in. I have mid 2000s tow mirrors on my tube doors. It’s Phenomenal!
We'd definitely be down to give it a shot if someone brings it in to us!
That truck is now savage
Not yet! We have to do the other half first! lol
The boxed in plates should have been welded just inside of the channel not to the outside. That would have provided a lot more strength.
Gm my savages 🔥🔥🔥💪🏽💪🏽👀c yall
Happy Wednesday Luis!
More great content !
thank you!
You guys are doing a sterling job on this truck. Those installs are beefy too. I wonder how much weight they are adding to the truck.
Absolut traumhaft😍😍😍😍😍
Dave, badges fabrication
All we're doing is a 9 inch lift on it. 😂 I'm sitting on a 6 inch lift, 9 is just crazy.
These things stretch our hammies too much trying to get in em! We're going back to slammed trucks after this! lol
Love it
Thanks!
Lmao love Dave’s electrical tape bandaid. When u work on cars make shift bandaids work the best. U havent lived till u have to superglue a cut closed to finish a job. Lmao
The man came to work with stitches in his hand one week. There's no stoping him! lol
@@SalvagetoSavage lmao legend!!
@@fishpony1211yeah but before I got stitches I superglued my hand shut so I could finish putting sliding door trim back on, clean up the tools and then drive myself to the hospital. The doctor was not pleased but since I didn’t pass out in a pool of my own blood I figured it was a win.
@@vegthesystem lmao been there done that my dude! Legends dont die lol
Mikey becoming a huge tease over here…Previous video: stay tuned for more Chevelle content, but first, another truck. The Chevelle does make an appearance for like a second tho 😂
We're still waiting to get it back from paint :'( As soon as its back in our hands, we're able to thrash down on it. But until then, we gotta stay busy!
what happened to the cool project names .... too busy putting in hard man hours ? nice work as always.
We do the brainstorming on the names for our long term projects! We added this truck to the channel just to give you guys a more in-depth look on what goes in to fitting these kits up!
What happened to Tim Moceri?
💪👊👏
I wish
Thats alot of work how long does something like that usually take to complete
The top bolt on the rear truss not being centered triggers my OCD lol
We're happy to bring you truck build AND immersion therapy all in one episode! hahaha
Is this custom made or is it a kit you can buy?
All the raw materials you saw on the table come from Off Road Design in a kit. Regardless of the application, it takes quite a bit of fabrication like you're seeing to get it all to fit correctly!
Would love to know how much I'd have to save for this lift!?
Looks easy……… but it isn’t!! My father used to say that a pro makes working look easy. Until you try it yourself….. then you need the best of the best machines to make it a succes, we’re the pro uses simple tools…..
Very true! It takes a lot of patience too and time to take a step back and really plan out the next step!
What manufacturer is the tires?
Love my Savage Wednesday upload while a slow day at work! Thoughts on pre & post heat when welding the truss onto axle?
How old is this video the chevelle has been at paint for weeks but still together and has bare metal in this video 🤔 think you got some explanation to do mikey...
We try our hardest to give you guys one or two consistent build series every week. There are other projects that happen in the background while we're grinding on those frame-off builds, but we try to throw those in when we have a bit of down time in between those episodes!
Why didn’t you mount the coil overs straight up and down?
It's just not the geometry the suspension, shocks, and kit as a whole called for
@@SalvagetoSavage fair enough
CUMMINS in a CHEVY?? 🧐 I don't know how to FEEL!!
, I like the truck the way it is you want to sell it
It already belongs to a customer!
Good Tech & Work Done There !! Video Tech School Best Help For Many .. Thank You !!! Have Built One GMC 1990 supercharged $$$$$$ & Chevy 1989 Turbo $$$$$ & Run BIG Like That Too Only If Do The Work Can You See The $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ LOL & The FUN !!!
Isn't this a k30?
What on earth is the purpose of this truck?? Its gonna weigh 7000 lb!! Why would you wanna off road such a monster???
Taking it through some deep mud!
@@SalvagetoSavage I'll take your word for it, y'all do great work!
Every video makes me miss Tim. It's not called a "Johnny joint", you even referred to it as a HEIM joint when you were doing a parts inventory! Saying the wrong thing so often that people get used to it makes everyone dumber
We were MISSING our HEIM joints for the front steering components which is why we started in the back. What was shown in the video was definitely a Johnny Joint. Heims are metal on metal. Johnny Joints have urethane bushings, exactly like the joints we show and use on the rear suspension.
City pickup for city boy's , a 10in lift is only for city streets
can you really just wear a t-shirt and shorts while welding TIG? granted i haven't done TIG yes just stick and mig welding. and whenever i do stick it's full leathers or the cloth jacket if it's hot out. but i still super heat my off hand while holding the stick. i'm working on it lol.
You should always wear full safety gear when welding to prevent burns and injury. BUT, if you notice when we're tig welding, there's a lot less hot, molten metal flying around. Everything is much more controlled than when stick or MIG welding. Definitely wear your leathers cause these burns are no fun!
