I totally understand! They did release the e500 within a year though, so I guess something totally new every year would be quite a hefty task :) I'd be curious to see what more they could do, but then again their drives do really cover a lot of ground already...
As usual, darkglass is suprising us with a "Bomb of a AMP" i can fit it in to my pockets. Glad you are getting stuff from them, hoping for mighty Dingwall to give you new basses for test when they come out ( budget Super J and PB)
Thank you! Yeah it's been super cool working with them, I really enjoy getting tones out of different gear. I've been in talks with a few other companies, we'll see what actually goes through :) Working with Dingwall would be the greatest, but I guess my viewcounts aren't quite there yet xD
Killer demo! 😎🤘🏻🎸 these amps sounds phenomenal. I personally would go with the alpha omega 200 amp since I do own the microtubes pedals. I do dig the killer grinding tone that the that amp provides.
@@Paajanenae yeah…even though I’m a huge fan of darkglass’s vintage series of distortion pedals, I do dig their alpha/omega series of pedals and the x series(personally I like the x7).

UA-cam eating my comments again? Great video as always. Intro was amazing your best yet by far! These look cool, but how much do they cost? Reserving full judgment until I see a price tag.
Thank you! Price should be around 500 dollars in the US and around 540€ in Europe. I've had some comments pop up three months after they're posted, UA-cam is weird like that sometimes.
Nice review. Killer tune. I prefer my music heavy, but I’d also like to hear them A/B’d leveled and clean for when you need to do something softer or more classic.
Thank you! I did not miss the compression when I tried these with no pedals, the intro has quite heavy compression from the Super Symmetry. That being said, in the two pedalless clips I drove the amps pretty hard which results in a lot of natural compression (from the distortion).
I have not! These heads are currently used in me & my friends studio, mainly with a loadbox or a cab so I've not felt the need to try out the headphone out
Can you add details of the cabinet? I am trying to get this ampli and also searching for a compatible cabinet. What is the range of ohms acceptded by the ampli? Is 4 -16 or is 4 - 8 ohms?
This cab seen in the intro was a Marshall 1982A 16 Ohm, but what you hear is an IR I regularly use. Any 410 cab would be a great match, why not even some 212s as well.
Nothing specially since with a 4 ohm load you won't get the full 200 watts these are rates 200 watts at 3 ohms so at 4 ohms it would be like 150-160 watts for 500 dollars I'mma pass my tc electronics bam 200 doesn't have this issue. And has an input gain knob which for me is needed.
I wish we had had time to mic up the cab, it sounds incredible! I used the Panda Sound Bass Cabs pack for the tones here, specifically the Holy Cab IR :)
@@francoishtzl157 What it's in the free pack as well? That's awesome, IMO that's the best IR ever, I've been using it religiously for the past 3-4 years!
@@Paajanenae i am sure its easy to tweak, but i miss the real lo to hi mids Section between 80-1khz, this is a important Frequency Range for Soundforming - i just don`t get it. And the only Pre DI Out is massive baffling, it makes the whole Point of this Amp obsolete 😛.
I guess what I was trying to say was that for some reason I didn't really miss a dial for the 80-1000hz region. In my experience thats also a region I seldom do anything in post, apart from a slight cut around the 250-300 to fit it better into a cover mix which usually already have a bass track under mine. 😄
No way to tell how loud they are in this context. I’m assuming that the power rating is 200 watts @4 ohms. Most cabinets are rated at 8ohms. You’re probably only putting out 100 watts @ 8 ohms. If you’re playing metal good luck with that! Aren’t you guys all using IEMs anyway?
@@Paajanenae Are you playing Metal with a full band using real amps? Also, On most amps, turning the master volume up half way doesn't mean you're at half volume. Certain amps will start to break up after 2/3 of the way etc.
I wish darkglass would add more unique products rather than rehashing the same 3 drives repeatedly- that being said these seem cool :)

Good review, thanks a lot. Did you miss the compression that is available on the other 500 and 900 models? Thanks.

Can these amps do clean tones as well? I love the driven sound, especially the A/O, but I also want to be able to do warmer, clean tones when needed.
Yeah sure, just roll the gain back and you're good to go!
Have you tried the headphone out yet as a alternative DI out? Really curious about that

What is that first song???? Or if it's not a song, make a full one of it :D
Ahaha, thank you! I wrote it for this demo, but maybe it'll resurface later? 😄
What's the bass used for the intro portion?
It's a custom Warmoth precision bass with roasted maple neck, stainless steel frets and a single EMG MMCS pickup in the sweet spot :)
What does wattage have to do with Loudness?
Not a lot, but it's a common misconception 😄
