- Sharing with you the results of our little experiment into what is THE BEST VITAMIN C SERUM for face and neck and is Skinceuticles C E Ferulic really worth that price point?
Hey guys and welcome back to Mad About Skin where in todays video we are working out what is the best vitamin c serum for face and neck with a little survey based on the 5 factors we consider when making a skincare purchase.
Vitamin C is one of the most popular skincare ingredients, with many people reaching for a vitamin c serum in their skincare routine for its ability to brighten the skin, minimise dark spots, fade hyperpigmentation and boost collagen for some anti-ageing benefit.
When it comes to choosing the right vitamin c for your skincare routine, lots of brands will claim theirs is the best so lets put 4 of the most popular here on UA-cam to the test and see who comes out on top.
Skinceuticles C E Ferulic Serum - this has the most advanced formulation and delivers really quick results but scores poorly on the price point coming in at £140 here in the UK and $160 in the US. If you have the money then the studies into this product will for many prove it is worth the price but for many there are other options delivering the same results with a more realistic price point.
Timeless Vitamin C - this serum has a very similar composition to the Skinceuticles one and many will call it a dupe. its not as stable but thats not a huge issue as its in an airtight pump which will delay oxidation. takes a little longer to work than C E Ferulic does but for the drugstore price point this is in my view superior. Just watch out for the pump which is prone to leaking so not ideal
Geek and Gorgeous C-Glow serum - this is my personal favourite though it can be expensive to get in the US and Canada so bare that in mind. Gorgeous formulation and made fresh every week this is a fast acting vitamin c which wont break the bank. Freshness is key here but you can extend the life of the product by keeping it in the fridge.
Melano CC Vitamin C Serum - this is the only product on this list which doesnt disclose the percentage of the vitamin c used which is a shame as the packaging is amazing, the results great and the price point drugstore.. If your not someone who really cares about percentages then this one could be for you but others will be a little let down by the lack of transparency.

Hey guys and welcome to todays video where I wanted to take a look at the best vitamin Cs and evaluate them on a number of metrics to work out the best of the best. I would love to know your own thoughts on this and any personal favourites you have so let me know in the comments section below.. Sending you all so much love xxxxx
Can you do a review on the new cosrx vit c23 serum?? Thats the more accessible one here ❤ thank you 😊
Loved this video style and would like to see with different products. I had a bad experience with pure vitamin C a few years ago and now love the derivatives particularly TO one with the long name!! However the Melano CC can be bought in Asia for around £8 and I’m hearing lots of good things about it and wondering if I should just give vitamin C a go again.
I like this series and can’t wait to see what else you come out with.
As for vitamin c…. I get enough with the MAS serum and the derivative in it. I don’t need high % serums at all!
You're spot on with the CE Ferulic there. I use it but i haven't been able to afford it some months. Regarding oxidation, if you keep it in the fridge it won't oxidise. I wrap it with aluminum foil for extra protection! But you're right, they should tweak the packaging. If not pump, maybe small biodegradable capsules. They can definitely do that, with so much money that they have!
They should really lower the price of this but it feels they will never do it.
I like how you are informative and cover the material efficiently! Information is packed in! Thank you.
I know this is a bit late, but I found the Timeless 20% Vit. C to oxidize fairly quickly and the pump would not consistently dispense a predictable amount. I’m going to try the Melano CC next. Thanks for the video!
Loved the concept of this video!!!! Great way to compare products imo. ❤️❤️
Hi! I started watching your vids a couple weeks ago and I just wanted to say I look forward to them every day now! I appreciate you, I am 39 and just "discovered" skincare and what it can do for your skin. You are teaching me that! Ty 😘
Don't feel bad, I'm 44 and doing the same!
Hooray my skincare guru knocks it out of the park again, thanks so much 😍😍😍👏👏👏
Thanks for this video, very informative as always. It gave me the courage to finally give Timeless a go which for some odd reason is less affordable than the CC Melano here in NZ. I’ve been eyeing it for months but it’s only sold online here and currently sold out at my go to online store, so hopefully when it’s restocked definitely getting my hands on it. I still love my CC Melano and it’s been months and still hasn’t oxidised! I also find it quite nice on my sensitive, reactive skin. But there’s something with Timeless skincare that is keeping me intrigued.
Good to know, I live in NZ too!
Love this style of video. Logical and clear. Thank you so much!
Thank you so so much hun xx
Thanks for the Vit C comparison! I’ve been loving Timeless for years and wish G&G was more available in the US to try!
Thank you so so much for sharing and sending you so much love xx
it is now!
Gosh! I love every single video of yours! So informative and al the most necessary information one may need. Thank you ♥️
Oh thank you so so much hun thats so kind of you to say and sending you lots of love xx
Hey Rob! I've nearly finished my G&G C glow, so I ordered another bottle thinking it was going to be a while to get shipped to me, I've put it straight in the fridge, so I'm hoping it won't go off! Once again great video xxxx
I can confirm that even an opened bottle of C-Glow lasts a long time in the fridge! I bought the little decanter bottle and would only put a few mls into it at a time and leave out, and many months later, the larger bottle in the fridge was still so, so fresh. I've also noticed that the Melano CC serum lasts forever out of the fridge because of the tube it comes in (although that one isn't my fave, it's a little too greasy for me but effective. C-Glow is definitely my holy grail and i never want to be without it).
Hi Rob, I’ve been using the timeless for the past year and I love it. I do put my in the refrigerator and last about around two months with me using it daily in the mornings only. Love your channel and happy New Year 🎆
US resident / G&G C glow fan here. I find it easy to get the free and fast shipping - 1-2 C Glows (fridge and small bottle allows me to get through 2 in 6 months), 1-2 A game 10s, plus whatever I need from Stress Less, Sal Acid (my teens), cleanser, an exfoliant (lasts a year). toner. Also recommended it to friends and will see if we can pool our order.
Being a Hungarian, I just love how much you are talking about C glow. They are really stunning. :)
I love the brand so so much and they are doing Hungary proud... sending you lots of love xxxxx
Good to see some alternatives since Aldi have discontinued their Vitamin C. Still not sure which I will switch to, so difficult to make a decision!
I liked this video so much. Waiting for similar ones with other categories of actives and serums/lotions/creams etc. Thank you, Rob 💙
Thank you so so much hun and sending you so much love xxxxxx
I loved this video! Thank you so much! It really helps! I've been using the wrong vitamin c serum and I really didn't like it (it didn't work on my skin at all.... Now I understand why) definitely will be trying one of the ones you just suggested!!! Thank you ❤️
LOVING THESE VIDEOS 🥰🥰🥰🥰 MY WINNER IS THE GG COS IVE BOUGHT 4 OF THE TIMELESS AND THREE CAME ALREADY OXIDISED AND ONE OXIDISED A FEW WEEKS INTO USING IT....THEY NEED TO REVISIT THEIR PACKAGING
Love the blue top! That colour suits you 😘
Thank you so so much Jan... I wish I was closer to Manchester as would love to join you for your last boots shop :) love you xxxxxxx
Love this type of videos!! Thank you!
Love you Cristina xxxxxxxx
Wow, thank you for this info. I’m here in USA, so I will definitely look up the Timeless serum. Thanks again for this detailed info
For me the Geek and Gorgeous is my no1. What a difference it has made to my skin.x
Thank you so so much for sharing and sending you so much love xx
Love this! Would you include the glow maker in this?
Thank you for all of your hard work, Rob! This type of video was really enjoyable to watch 😊 I hope you have a lovely end to your week
Thank you so so much hun... how has your week been? looking forward to chatting on Saturday.. love you xx
@@MadAboutSkin We are still struggling with the heat and no rain, but we are ok otherwise! Hope you and everyone on your side are doing great
Thank's for doing this, I really needed this info.
Blue looks so good on you, Rob.
We love you, Rob 😍
Awww thank you so so much hun and I hope you have had an amazing week.. love you xx
@@MadAboutSkin love you back Rob
I love all your videos Rob thanku so much x❤️
It’s very good video! Thank you! It would be nice if you include next time Paula’s choice and Drunk elephant Vitamin C. Also, for us, women, it is very important one other aspect - the product underneath makeup:)
Oh my... you are glowing to the gods in this video!!! I learnt everything I know about vitamin C from you. And you got me to try Argireline + Matrixiyl out (applying as I type 😅) .
I really enjoy the timeless vitamin C serum and am using the 10% to start with. The biggest problem I have is the dispenser is awful and is leaking so much that now I'm wondering if I should even try the 20%.
Finally! I’ve been hoping for this video! What do you think about Tula Triple Vitamin C serum? Thank you x
Started using d the G & G vitamin C serum due to your recommendation, and I love it!
Find it very effective, and the results appear really fast as well.
I usually order a couple of products at a time, with a shipping cost of 18 euros, and I don't find that to be expensive. I'm from Norway, and I often pay more for international shipping when I order online.
Thanks for yet another great video! 💕Please do similar type of videos for other actives.
Hey do you mind telling me what you used the vit c serum for ? Thanks ❤
@@itsruckaswife7036 Evening out skin tone. This does wonders.
When my late mother in her early nineties started really taking her skin seriously I shopped a vit c serum for her. She loved it. Wish this channel had been here. Anyway my turn now.
Thank you so so much for sharing and sending you so much love xx
Hey Rob. Can you use glycolic acid and pure vitamin c at the same time. Thanks for all you do. Love your channel
I am from Canada and wanted to give the vitamin C from Geek and Gorgeous a try. I bought the Jelly Joker cleanser and the C-Glow. The products came to €21.30 and the shipping was an additional €18.00 so nearly the same price as the products. These two costs converted to $54.70 Canadian. Then there was Canada custom charges which were $21.52. Basically the two items then were about $75 Canadian. I think I will have to keep with the Timeless Vitamin C out of the States although they don’t offer free international shipping but there are no duty charges. That being said I liked the C-Glow serum and would probably continue to buy if there wasn’t the duty charges.
Hi Rob, thank you for your great videos. I love your content. Do you think it's better to have a vitamin C serum or a cream?
I’ve really been liking the 10% waterless vitamin C serum by Farmacy. It makes my skin glowww 🤩 and with the Centella Soothing Sun Essence by Barr my skin has been really been improving ✌️
used the Skin Ceuticals CE Ferulic serum when I was on Accutane and it was really effective! Sunspots reduced and it sits really well with a natural glow below makeup, although it's so expensive, a little goes a long way, can easily last 6months. After I stopped Accutane and skin became more oily and acne prone again, I used their Silymarin CF Serum instead and it works better for me than CEF, controls my sebum production and skin is less oily over time. I stopped using for a couple of months due to budget and recently just repurchased as an Xmas gift to myself, and I can really notice a difference in my skin with v.s. without using it! even my friends complimented on my glow! p.s. the Phloretin CF doesn't work as well as CE Ferulic and Silymarin CF so dont waste ur money on it!!!
Hi Rob, just started following you. Love love your videos - so informative and useful and well thought out. You’re a fantastic host too! Thank you so so much. 🙏🏻🙏🏻👍🏻👍🏻😊😊😍😍😍👏🏻👏🏻
Great video and extremely informative. Thank you for sharing the affordable options as Skinceuticals is outside of budget for most.
I would love to hear your thoughts on the Facetheory Regena C20 serum as well! 🤔
I’m 59 next week I use Timeless C it’s amazing . Angie and I can vouch for how great we look for our age! I use it but the packaging is airtight I love it. Mine has never leaked.
Thank you so so much for sharing and sending you so much love xx
I found Angie in my early/mid twenties and just never stopped watching for some reason despite not being the target audience 😂
CONGRATS ON THE 1K!!!!!!!
OMG yay :) thank you so so much hun and love you xxxxxx
Hi Rob, what do you think of the La Roche-Posay Pure Vitamin C10 Serum? Love your videos ❤️
Love this type of series 💜💜💜😊🌟🙏🏽
Thank you so so much for watching and sending love xx
Love videos like this, more please 😁 G&G C glow all the way for me xx
Thank you so so much hun and watch this space as there is more to come.. love xx
Thats it, next on my list is geek and gorgeous!
Love this video idea.. Can we see the same for retinols? Love x
I would love to film that thanks fo the suggestion and sending you lots of love xxxxxxx
Happy Wednesday 😍😄☺️
@@MadAboutSkin I'd love this style of video for all categories! Great job 😊
Azelic acid products too
I’m curious about the wishtrend retinal. I know judging by the ppm it is a 0.03% retinaldahyde as well as 1% Bacuchiol I may order it for an eye cream as it’s the same % of retinal of medik8 crystal retinal 3 and the beauty of JOSEON ginseng retinal and is decent size
I use the Timeless 10%. It works very well for me. I can’t compare it to the Skinceuticals serum, because I can’t afford it. Besides, I’m happy with the results I get. And I haven’t had any leakage with the bottles I’ve had.
Thank you so so much for sharing and sending you so much love xx
Really great video. I am waiting for my first bottle of G&G C glow so I will start testing soon. I ordered MAS serum as well 😃
Awww thank you so so much for all your support and sending you lots of love xx
I’ve used Skinceuticals, Timeless, and currently Maelove. Skinceuticals is definitely my favorite as far as formula and how it applies. Timeless and Maelove definitely oxidized quickly for me. And i keep them in the fridge. I always go back to Skinceuticals. Just can’t compare imo.
Is the result day and night ?
I've been using vitamin C for my under eye bags ,within 1 week they are gone,I'm in my 60s ,now using all over my face,All thu my youth I used vitamin C moisturizer, I'll never stop now ,it's a miracle!!!!
The best one for me is Boots Ingredients vit C serum. £6 & it transformed my skin!!! Love it!
Thank you so so much for sharing and sending you so much love xx
@@MadAboutSkin sending you love❤
I’ve always wanted to test out that Melano CC- serum but I don’t like serums with a oily texture. But thank you for this really nice and helpful video! 💕
Im the same but im gonna get it and i think im gonna mix it with my hyaluronic serum
This is how I felt about it too but you can put a moisturiser on top of it and that helps for sure and makes it sink in.. love you xxxxx
I have used it. Yes, it's oily and I find it takes a long time to absorb properly before you can proceed to the next step in your regime.
You only need a few drops because it spreads easily, especially if your face is still a teensy bit wet. It even says so on the packaging and instructions (thanks Google translate). I use two drops on each cheek, and one for my forehead and nose, and one more for problem areas. Each drop is small but powerful. I’ve been using it for four months with awesome results.
All of these got nothing on the regimen lab vitamin x :D Great video Rob!
Thank you so so much for sharing and sending you so much love xx
I’m switching to Timeless Vitamin C. Skin Ceuticals just too expensive. Thanks for the comparisons.
Thank you so so much for sharing and sending you so much love xx
Thank you, I use Geek, and love it.
same hun, for me its the best.. ;love xxxxxx
Love vitamin c videos! You know something I realized that timeless vitamin c 20% has literally the exact identical ingredients in the exact same place in ingredients lost as one I get off Amazon called Skin Deva vitamin c it’s literally the same product! I think they must white label it because there’s no difference very interesting. Also skin deva is a bit less $$ but comes in dropper bottle
THANKYOU so much dear!
100% love this type of video. I have had oxidation issues with the timeless vit C. It has happened on so many orders that I've given up on them 😢
In terms of Melano CC, the newer version, premium essence is better! Btw Rohto Seiyaku is the only company in Japan approved by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare for the efficacy of its whitening effect in the formulation of pure vitamin C.
I don't get any change in discoloration with vitamin C. I use Timeless 20% and previously used Maelove Glow Maker. But it does seem to have some skin firming properties. I'm not sure I'm going to stick with vitamin C.
Hi Rob! Great video 💙 what do you think of the Vichy vitamin C? They also have a wonderful serum with b3 and tranexamic acid, they are really improving their products, I’m kind of beginning to love them 😁
Take care
It's not ascorbic acid. It's a derivative...
I've tried all of these serums except for the Timeless. I agree that Skinceuticals is the best of the lot, certainly fastest-acting but the price point just kills me. I also don't like the Melano, didn't do anything for me. This might be odd, but for my Vit C "serums", I like using NIOD's Survival 0.
Hello! You popped up in my feed and I was just researching vitamin c serums. Skinceuticals is a big no for me.The price and the fact that it isn't cruelty free. Neither is L'oreal. I was going between Timeless and Dr.Brenner.The ingredients all seemed similar to me.Most seem to prefer Timeless. I can't deal with the leaking.I've not had any issues with Dr.Brenner.Thanks for all of the great information.
I'm here before midnight! I need this video. Something is making me breakout. I started two new products at the same time I'll never do that again. If I do not use Seabreeze on the spot between my lower lip and chin I get white heads. Tiny ones. The worst thing you can put on your skin is the only thing that works. I just ordered some. I'm ashamed. I am still most happy with Algenist Blue Algae Vitamin C. It is on sale at SkinStore right now. I just read the Niacidamide cannot be used with Vit C. is this true comment readers?
Regarding mixing niacinamide and vitamin C: I've seen dermatologists and chemists, like Michelle from Lab Muffin Beauty, explain that in lab studies where they mixed high concentrations of both and put them through conditions that would never happen in our own skin, the niacinamide turned to nicotinamide, and that was bad. However, being that these were tests done in petri dishes and the same conditions would never be found in our faces, it's considered to be safe to use them together, as long as you don't personally find it irritating.
Love the G&G C-glow - but not their shipping prices😳
Oh I know what you mean lol.. hope all is amazing with you and sending love xx
Hi Rob, at the moment I'm using a vitamin C derivative just to be on the safe side, but I can't wait to upgrade to real vitamins C and the Timeless one looks good to me.
Do you know a brand called Pure & Cimple? They have a bit C serum that seems good. They have an air tight pump and opaque packaging and for a month's worth of product, they send you 2 smaller bottles rather than a bigger one.
I'd love to know your opinion on it. Thanks!
Hi Rob, can you please do a similar review on the following vitamin C products? Goodal Green Tangerine, La Roche-Posay, Paula's Choice, and Farmacy
Hi thanks a lot for your advices, any suggestions for ordinary vitamin C…..thanks
Hi hun, I did a video breaking the vitamin c from the ordinary down so I would recommend checking that out for all the details on the different ones :) love xxxx
Out of topic but I’ve checked Ordinary’s website today and omg. They increased their prices from 2 to 3 times 😯 For example I bought niacinamide around 5 £ and now it’s 10 !
Melano cc vitamin c serum has patented formulation to stabilize the L-Ascrobic acid. Therefore only Rohto can use this formulation. I am not sure what percentage but many cosmetic formulator in Japan say it's probably around 5%.
Thank you so so much for sharing and sending you so much love xx
Sunday Riley has the best vitamin C the serum and the oil mixed is just fantastic
Nice video! Please review Ósea brand. They are also cruelty free and vegan
Thanks for the recommendation xxxx
It’s been almost a year since the last time I purchased a bottle of Timeless vitamin c serum and unbelievably it’s still a very bright yellow in color. I can almost swear that it never changed in color but only the slight. Ps: I always keep my serums in the refrigerator.
Same! To save money, I get the 4 oz and keep it in my refrigerator. I decant about 0.3 oz at a time into an amber glass bottle with a pump top that I keep in my bathroom. It takes me about a year to get through the whole bottle, and it never goes darker than a pale yellow!❤️
Same. Texture, scent and color hasn't changed either. Use it every week, 1-2. Also kept it in the fridge.
Hi there, me again. What do you think about Gow? Garden of wisdom. Would love 2 know ❤️
Could you recommend some clean and gentle formula for removing pigmentation on sensitive skin please?
What are your thoughts on the Farmacy and Summer Fridays vitamin c serums?
I really love this Video! I previously used the Paulas Choice and the Drunk Elephant one. Unfortunately, I can‘t stand the scent. It‘s like burnt meat and then iron. Has anyone a recommendation that doesn’t have this scent? I am also open to use in longterm with a Vitamin C derivative perhaps. Please, I need your suggestions❣️
Where do you get the Timeless one from Rob? 💙🙏🏻🌞🕊
Im gonna order the Rotho Melano serum, ive been curious for years now and when see the price and that it basically doesnt oxidize, im sold. People say it really last for more than 6 months...
I hope it works really well for you hun, keep us posted xx
Did you notice any changes so far with Melano?
Vitamin C serum is super cheap to formulate, and so simple you can do it yourself.
LabMuffin has a great DIY video on it.
Thank you so so much for sharing and sending you so much love xx
What about Allies of Skin that you recommended in another video? How does that one stack up to these?
Thank you!!!!🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Thank you for watching hun.. love you xx
Can you check out Eucerin's Hyaluron-Filler Vitamin C booster? It's not the cheapest but I've bought it twice on sale and it seems amazing to me!
Thanks for the recommention and I will check it out.. love xx
What about the ordinary vitamin cs? So many different formulas don't know which one to get next!
Nearly at 75k subscribers 👍👍👍
I know I keep having to pinch myself its so so humbling to have everyones support. love you xx
Although Timeless has the same ingredients as Skinceuticals, I think they use inferior grade of products or they have something else in their they aren’t mentioning. Timeless made my skin burn and turn red but not Skinceuticals. Nothing else was different except for the Vitamin c serum. I wish there was a way to determine the precise grade if the ingredients. That might explain why one is more than the other.
I’d love to see something about physical exfoliating 🤔
I've been using this vitamin c face serum by rice berry littleextra for a few months now, and I'm truly impressed with the results. It's become an essential part of my daily skincare routine. Over time, the serum has effectively minimized the size of my pores and faded dark spots. It's excellent for my sensitive skin. One of its standout features about this serum is its light, non-greasy formula. It absorbs quickly, making my skin feel rejuvenated without any oily residue. I strongly recommend it to anyone who wants a brighter, more even complexion, especially with the benefits of black rice water. This serum is mild enough even for sensitive skin. After applying the face serum, I follow up with riceberry sunscreen, which contains niacinamide and kojic acid, These have helped me further reduce dark spots. Also, practicing yoga everyday helps maintain my skin's elasticity.
Timeless & Maelove ❤️😊
Love you hun xx
Thank you for your content
My top 2 Vitamin C
1) Cosrx 23% Vitamin C Serum $20 (on my 3 bottle)
2) Dr Brenner's 20% Vitamin C $20 ( produces fresh product every 2 weeks. Made and shipped from New Jersey USA. When I order this I receive it within 3 days. I hope you had a well-balanced Wednesday 😍.
P.S I saw I won a prize, our sheriff zapped it out 😂😂😂
What differences have you seen with the Cosrx vit C? Curious to know. Thanks.
@@doanphuong1325 smoother skin texture, no irritation, absorbs quickly, nice healthy glow. I just love the formulation and esthetic of the bottle.
Whilst shipping is expensive with the Geek and Gorgeous, if you buy a couple of bottles the shipping price goes down.if there a couple of you the shipping ones down further.x
Is there a reason why you chose not to include the Allies of Skin one?
Please what do you think about the cosrx 23% vitamin c
The thing that bugs me about timeless is how much it leaks. Of 10 bottles I’ve never gotten one that didn’t leak. That leads me to believe it cannot be airless if it was airless there wouldn’t be a way for it to leak I would think. I like skinceuticals 10&20 AOX and I’ll add a tiny bit of Ferulic & Resveratrol on top. It’s quite less $$ that c+e+ ferulic at $169 here in the us I feel it is similar to it tho. I got the 10AOX for like $65 when SkinStore does their 15% off of skinceuticals which I love.
If I use the bubble day dream serum which already has vitaminc C can I use another one aswell or will it cause irriations?
Just did an order for this serum and couple of others, shipping for me was €5 I’m in UK. The Geek serum
Oh I hope it works really well for you hun.. love you xx
