Hey guys and welcome back to Mad About Skin where today we are taking a closer look at the Timeless Vitamin C 20% serum, is it really a dupe for the Skinceuticals C E Ferulic serum and why has it been missing in action for so long.
So many of you guys have recommended the Timeless 20% Vitamin C + Ferulic Acid Serum to me since I started this channel, saying it has helped fade hyperpigmentation, dark spot and boosted collagen production in the skin. It is however out of stock in most countries and increasingly difficult to get hold of so what is going on.
Combining l-ascorbic acid in a 20% concentration with vitamin E and Ferulic Acid this is a powerful pigment protector and one of the best vitamin c serums on the market. It is often called a drugstore dupe for Skinceuticals C E Ferulic serum but why has it disappeared from shelves.
ETHOXYDIGLYCOL is the 2nd ingredient in the ingredient list of the Timeless 20% Vitamin C and is in an higher concentration than the l-ascorbic acid itself. This puts it at odds with cosmetic regulations in the EU and the UK which says that the amount of this ingredient cant be greater than 2.6% which is why it has been pulled from sale in these countries and areas.
Reformulating the product with less ETHOXYDIGLYCOL would mean it could once again be sold in these areas but it would certainly have a significant impact on the effectiveness of the product and formulation which is perhaps why it has not happened.
I would always encourage people to do their own research into this and there is nothing to say that the EU approach is correct so it is up to the individual to make their own assessment on this and I hope this video will help this.

I’m in the U.S. and have been using Timeless vit C serum for years and love it! I recently received an order of this that was dated a few months past due. I called there customer service and they told me they had had a problem with there distribution center and they were working on this issue. The rep was very apologetic and sent out a replacement overnighted! I was so pleased with them!!! 🥰👍🌈🦋🌺🌺🌺
love Timeless vitamin C! I have used it as my main vitamin C for over 3 years! Here in the US it’s really so affordable especially with Timeless sales they offer so much. They didn’t used to have the airless pump & I’m so glad they changed. Of course now I have to look up the ingredient in question. I’m sensitive but very accustomed to C serum so 20% is well tolerated for me. So glad you did this video!! 💖💖💖

I live in the US and I just repurchased a new bottle about a month ago. I've sampled a few different Vitamin C serums from Sephora over the years, but I didn't like how they felt on my skin. Some felt heavy or greasy. Especially Drunk Elephant which I didn't like at all. I love the Timeless. It's more watery and doesn't feel heavy on my skin. Works well under makeup, my pores look smaller and red spots have faded.It's been about three years I've been using this. My skin looks better now than when I was in my thirties. I hope it never gets discontinued.

Hello my lovely!!! ..The Timeless was my go to vitamin C for years and I felt lost when I could no longer get it here in the UK, but then THANKS TO YOU I tried the Geek & Gorgeous vitamin C and I am so glad!!! ... I actually prefer it to the Timless, plus its a much better price and always fresh... And as an added bonus I also got their retinal which I am also loving since tretinoin has always been a bit harsh on my skin .. so my 46 year old skin is very grateful to you!!! .... I decided never to try this since I was expecting this to happen. I read the inci and knew it didn’t live up to EU regulations and I didn’t want to fall in love and then have it removed from market. Geek & Gorgeous is the way to go for me!

Thanks for pointing this out. I’m from Canada and I remember ordering this and the last one I ordered took over a month to deliver. I really never noticed any outstanding results about this and I have had 3 bottles of this in the past. I end up paying double the amount in shipping + exchange rates so it’s really not worth it outside the us. Ive also heard many people receiving their bottles leaking so u have to wonder if the packaging is really reliable for leaving it unoxidized. I also never noticed any results, and instead it would always make my face red and irritable. Sure it all looks good written down on paper, the formulation, the (presumably) efficient packaging, and the ph, but with actual results and costs, i can’t get myself to buy this anymore. Now, I can say tho, I never had any product that dispensed orange/yellow that appeared oxidized from my experience. It would always crystallize though around the sides of the product which was odd but I don’t think that messes the formula (so long as you don’t get any on your hand when you’d apply it.. ouch lol) All that said I do wanna try the Geek and Gorgeous one. It works out being less expensive and I’ve heard nothing but good things about it. I hope it delivers! 🤞
Thank you so much for this video!! I really appreciated you pointing out that ingredient that’s more regulated there. I checked my bottle of Timeless and it was the number one ingredient. After doing my own research on it…I decided this product was no longer for me…and have found a similar formulation without that ingredient and I am really excited about it. I had already been looking into trying something else due to getting a couple of bottles which had already started to oxidize..so this just helped finalize my decision. I really appreciate these types of videos you put out because it helps me to make better informed decisions. You have many great recommendations and just want you to know I appreciate you.

It's fading the discoloration on my temples. It's gradual, but noticeable! Love, love Timeless 20%!!
Per Dr Dray's instructions, I apply it after a salicylic acid toner, and let it sit for 10-20 minutes before applying other products.

Hi! Dr Dray didn’t recommend a toner. She said wash your face with a salicylic acid cleanser to low the PH of your skin to get a better penetration of the Vitamin C .

May I know the price of this product? I am in the Philippines and they sell it here for like $8 each and am wondering if this is authentic. Are there fake Timeless products?
I've used this product for about 10 years probably, absolutely ages, and I love it! I buy two bottles each time and always keep both of them in the fridge. I decant a little bit into these tiny little dropper vials so I can use them easily but keep the rest fresh.

I purchased this after Angie hot and flashy recommends! I too liked the pump however I did not get any results. I have one small dark spot which did not budge. I love Vichy and currently using Versed stroke of brilliance. Both very different but great results! Have a great weekend Rob xx

I'm in the USA, though on the other side of the country from the Timeless pant. I've been using their C serum for about 5 years, and will keep using it. It works really well on my skin.
I mentioned distance ... I order direct from Timeless and get product manufactured less than 2 weeks before it's delivered.
Target is now selling Timeless ... I may order from them and see how fast they ship.
My first vitamin C is going to be Vitamin X from Regimen Lab in Toronto, Canada. Vitamin X includes 11 antioxidants that revitalize skin. Great ingredient list. So many people purchased recently that they ran out, even though they keep making fresh batches. Comes in a proper pump container. They ship all over the world.

I purchased a bottled from Amazon uk for £27.99 recently. It came from Canada and it arrived 8 days later to my address in the UK which was surprisingly quick. Loving the product so far but it is early days. I have used the Skinceuticals CE along with their moisturiser/cleanser and sunblock which does give excellent results but highly likely you’ll end up having to remortgage your house as the products are ridiculously expensive.
Hi Rob, I am glad you pointed out the manufacture date re Timeless product. I recently received a defective bottle from them (leaking from the seam) and within a month, the serum was oxidized. I contacted the company and they sent another bottle. Right away I noticed that the seam was brown and the manufacture date was from 3~4 months ago. Then after I pump the serum on a cotton pad, I noticed that the serum was very yellow/orange. You would never be able to tell without seeing on a white cotton pad because their bottle is yellow also. Although I think the product itself may be decent, but they seem to have quality control issue. For that reason, I can no longer trust buying from them (and I got the product from them directly off their website and not through a 3rd party).
Wow ive ordered 3-4 bottles a year for many years and never had a bad experience. Thats the reason I love them so much.

Hm Vitamin C serums here in Norway at least, are pretty expensive anyways, so it's cheaper to get a couple of bottles from them in many cases, even with the extra shipping and taxes. Right now I'm in love with the Vitamin X though. ❤️ So I'll use that for now, and the q10 serum from Timeless. I don't worry too much about this or that ingredient killing me 🤣

I have been using Vit C for a fairly long time , and I like trying out several different versions of Vit C..
I sometimes feel I am the only person who disliked using the Timeless and SkinCeuticals Vit C products.. 🤷♀️
I found both of them sticky and saw no positive skin improvements.
I am however loving your recommendation of Geek and Gorgeous Vit C…it’s NOT sticky and has 15% of the good stuff..
I've never tried this product or the Skinceuticals for that matter- too much money in my opinion. Yesterday, I watched Christa Evelyn's video from a few months back on Vitamin X from the Regimen Lab and would love to know your thoughts on it. Hi Robert, i'm sure someone commented already but Timeless has a Vitamin C 10% now. My skin enjoys the 20% but it irks me when it is said it is an exact dupe for Skinceuticals. If it was, it would be 15%. I wish I could afford to send you Maeloves The Glowmakers 15% to try out. Seems more like a dupe.

I have had two bottle of the Timeless Vitamin C & they both seem to leak terribly. I usually use a pump or two in the morning & put it back in my cabinet upright, I do not lay it on its side so I don't know what gives, but there is always product on the side of the bottle & underneath where it was sitting in my cabinet. I'm not sure I will repurchase for this reason alone.
It does well on my face but it burns the skin on my neck and décolleté and leaves me red and itchy for days. I love the pump as it keeps the product fresh.
I was using Timeless 20% for almost a year but my skin didn't adjusted luckily they have now 10% strength for people with sensitive skin, I already ordered. 😀

I've just received mine and really convened about the colour and smell... my previous vit c was by The Ordinary and had no smell.. but the Timeless 20% c ferulic acid, E has a smell of smokey hotdogs and is not clear....it has more of a yellow tint to it... it was sealed, have I got one that is out of date? Been using this for about 3 years now. And it really is the best vit-c (of all formulations) serum I’ve tried.
Buying directly from timeless will get you a much fresher product. My last purchase was manufactured two weeks before shipping.
My main issue is the fact that the bottle is leaking (as many vit-c serums in airtight pumps), but the biggest one leaks much less than the small one.
I’ve been using Timeless vitamin C almost 2 years. Love it. However, lately it’s been arriving almost fully oxidized. I’m receiving it within a week of purchase, but manufacturer date is over 3 months. This is an issue.
I’ve ordered directly from Timeless and Target. Same issue. Anyone else?
@@idisruiz9982 I experienced this when I was buying from Amazon and when they used the glass bottles, but never with the airtight plastic fantastic ones. Have you checked the colour of the liquid, or is it the “bacon” smell?
@@beer_bad the color is bright yellow so I think it may be a bit efficacious, but not like a fresh bottle squirting clear product. I’m using it until the replacement arrives later today. Fingers crossed. I really don’t want to find an alternative. I do love timeless matrixl s6 and Q10

@@beer_bad I reached out to timeless and told them. They said they will send replacement at no charge. So I’m happy with their customer service, just hoping for a fresh bottle. I’m wondering if they’re just ramping up production since they’re more popular now but perhaps not selling fast enough , being that you can get from Target.com, plus I think CVS.
I have oily skin and just finished an acne treatment with Epiduo forte and Doxycycline (it went great!). I'm looking for a vit c for the acne scars. I want to try this one but I'm worried about having breakouts because of the vit e. What do you think?

This is my all time favorite Vit C that I have been using for over a year!! I can’t go without it ever. Now that’s available at Target in US it’s so convenient and I can get it for less than $20 when on sale

I don’t like that Vitamin C. But in the past I always read from people not to buy it from target because it’s not as fresh as buying it from Timeless direct website 🤷♀️

I didn't notice anything special about the Timeless Vitamin C and I actually found the pump to be very messy. It was constantly dribbling product out and the container would get crusty or it would leak and get on whatever surface it was sitting on and then damage the finish. It ate through the paint on a metal tray I had it on, which seems pretty yikes.

The product drip is because you have to tighten up it happened to me cap was loose .

Hi dear Rob, long time no comment from me 🤗 sorry, been watching the videos but skipped the leaving a comment bit ☺️ I am still here 🥰 re Timeless , I got mine Iast September from Timeless UK website. It was about £30 all in if I remember well. But I think the serum didn’t agree with my skin. It made my face burn and l got a lot of irritation which lead to my melasma getting worse. I am over Vit C in general now. I have my Q10 plus some of my sunscreens have antioxidants in them. I am keeping it safe 😆👍

great video! I haven't tried the Timeless Vitamin C product, because the one I purchased off amazon arrived oxidized and in a dirty bottle. Luckily I got a refund but I haven't felt motivated to try it.
I had similar issue with them, twice in a row, so I can no longer trust this brand anymore. (Also, I got it directly from the website, not 3rd party, so the problem is definitely on them).
I just opened a timeless vit c from Target and it was dirty and oxidized. First one I used was clear, this ones coming out orange.
Oh gosh thats not good and other have commented on the same thing being an issue for them so I am glad you got a refund but like you say it does put you off reordering... sending you lots of love xxxxx
I enjoyed the Timeless 20% vitamin C. But I want to try the Stratia Vitamin C or the Wishtrend 15% Vit C next.

Nothing to have heart attack about. EU regulations are often aimed NOT for consumer protection, but for the market protection and the number ONE competitor for EU is the US. So that is the only reason, not the safety ( there are no problems with the ingredient at the concentration it is allowed in the US), just to knock off the competitors. There are others which fell into this category. USA do that as well. - the best example is the car industry and the diesel regulations, which are aimed at such level that most of the EU diesel cars are out of question for the US customer. Just letting you guys know the real reasons why the regulations on different products differ so much.
I wanted to love the Timeless Vit C serum, but all it did for me was make parts of my face red, making my skin look splotchy and and making my skin tone aggressively uneven.

The Ordinary Amino B5 before the Vitamin C will help with irritation . I don’t need to all the time just on days where my tretinoin is acting up .

I mean isn’t that just bringing the PH of a product to something that is less acidic. I think the thought is great and I appreciate the tip but it’s probably not the best if you are trying to get good absorbtion of the vitamin C
I can attest to this serum. Been using it for over 6 months. Skin is more even and glows. Also I can atttest to the pH as I tested it at home. It’s between 2 and 3

Well, I started off right away using it daily & threw on a lactic acid right after, just like Hot & Flashy Angie does. And I had gorgeous skin - for about 2 months. Then really severe irritation set in. So I’d warn everyone to be very careful with this one. You don’t need to use it every day to get good results. I only use it 3 or 4 times a week & I get noticeably nice results & I NEVER use it in same routine as ANY acids, although I sometimes use an SA cleanser before, as Dr. Dray recs.
I am guessing they sent you a product that had an older manufacture date, and the serum oxidized over the 2 months. You would not be able to tell, unless you put the serum on a white cotton pad, since their bottle is yellow. This is what happened to me and when I got a replacement bottle, the ‘new’ bottle had a manufacture date from 3~4 months ago, and the serum was already oxidized out of the box. So I don’t think the irritation is just from there product, They definitely have some quality control issues.
Hot and Flashy has really durable skin. I dont know if thats the right word but she uses so many products that would have my akin screaming
@@tinasung3814 I think you can tell when it’s oxidized from the color. Anyway, that wasn’t my experience at all with any Timeless Vit C I’ve had. It’s always been clear. I can tolerate it, but just not daily. And like I said above, I’d warn anyone to just be careful with it . . .
@@doeeyes2 Yeah, she does say she’s been using for many years & she always says to introduce this slowly into your routine as you can tolerate, but she was so giggly & casual (cuz that’s just her personality) about it, I didn’t take her seriously. So I stupidly went in with this stuff full force, and yikes, did I get irritation!!

They came out with the 10% and I like it better than the 20 one, but my skin is really sensitive so yeah! The 10 is more gentle and my skin can tolerate it more

Same here. I started on 10% and now moved to 20% but I’m going back to 10% because I prefer it.....
Ive been using it for over a year now and its the only product thats always 100% consistent because i just cant find anything else that compares. My skincare obsessed heart always wants to try new vit c’s but even when its in my cart, i think about the fact that it means i wont he using the timeless one and well…ive yet to follow through lol

I absolutely love Timeless! Unfortunately I don’t get along with either the 20% or 10% I think Ascorbic acid irritates my skin. I use the HA + C and Q10 serum in the morning and the Matrixyl Synth 6 serum in the evening for over a year now!

It could be the super low ph _(2.4)_ instead of the l-ascorbic acid itself. They had to make it super low to dodge the Skinceuticals patent
@@maenad1231 I’ve tried quite a few ascorbic acid vitamin C serums, with varying PHs. As a tretinoin user for years I’ve not been able to get on with it. I use Q10, Resveratrol and Green Tea as antioxidants in my routine 😊

Ethoxydiglycol ultimately contains ether, and therefore can be linked to cancer, developmental/reproductive toxicity, allergic reactions and endocrine disruptions.
I loved the Timeless vitamin c serum! But because of the extremely high concentration of ethoxydiglycol I do not use it anymore. I trust the EU regulators to make desicions based on scientific data. Will try the Geek and gorgeous one instead.

I took a very quick look at this ingredient an didnt see anything stating it was bad to have in skincare/cosmetics. Guess I need to dig deeper. However I live in America an we don't believe in science lol an when we do you still better not tell me what I can an can not do. We think nothing of ingredients like this in skincare but I sure as hell will not get that poisonous vaccine. ( This is all sarcasm)

Do you apply the serum to damp or dry skin?
Wow didn't know about the ETDG % when I used it It lasted me for more than 3 months using once a day, no stinging or anything. I will not buy anymore Vit C in that format. It is hard to accommodate in my needs.

I have been using this product for about two years. I bought the NIOD Vit C (I don't remember the actual name) and have been using it for about two weeks. I have to say, Timeless wins. Hands down. The NIOD formula is just meh. Once I finish it, I'm back on the Timeless train (toot toot)!

Timeless Vit C Rocks. They have now come out with a 10% if the 20% is too strong for you. And if you can be sensitive to an ingredient...I will be. And that "E" ingredient doesn't bother me. I'm in the US and it's cheap, cheap, cheap here and when you get it throw it in the frig and it will last forever.
I started using this product about 3 weeks ago, didn’t nothing to my skin, no brightness nor fading any pigmentations. Only Vit c works for me is the ordinary ascorbic gluco12% and it does wonder to my skin!

This seems silly to get concerned over this particular ingredient. I had been wanting to try Timeless and honestly was surprised not to see it in your round up. I still think I would feel confident using it anyway. I mean there's apparently PFAS in makeup and benzene in sunscreen, both of which concern me a lot more honestly.

If one bottle only last you a month an a half you must have been using more than one pump at a time? I use one pump a day and one bottle has already lasted me almost 3 months and there’s still quite a bit in the bottle.
ETA I have the 30 ml bottle size, did you get the smaller bottle?

It is recommended you use up this type of Vitamin C within 3 months
@@zoeberry33 only if it oxidizes. Because of the airtight pump it’s much more stable and lasts a lot longer than if it were in a dropper bottle.
I bought this because of the hype, but my bottle leaks badly. Every time I pump it it leaks out the sides and down the bottle, it wastes so much and is very inconvenient :(

I had the same problem with leaking bottles. I was using the timeless vit c for about 5 months went through three bottles all of which had the exact same leaking issue. Unfortunately I saw no difference in my complexion. I used it faithfully every morning. Will not re-purchase.
I bought this. Didn't seem to do anything for my skin. Didn't tingle. Didn't brighten. No breakout. Felt like I was putting on water. 🤷🏼♂️🤷♂️

This product is still available in the US. In fact, Timeless now has a 10% Vit c.

Timeless feels nothing like the Skinceuticals to me 🤔 . I can’t seem to get on with vitamin c serums.

I WISH I could use L-ascorbic acid/Vitamin C, but after trying so many products I just had to give up on this active. So I am a bit jealous of all of you whose skin will tolerate it. I will just have to settle on a vitamin C derivative, and wait longer to see results.
PS When I tried on of The Ordinary's strong L-ascorbic acid products, I literally developed a large, fluid filled burn on my right cheek. So, I strongly advise patch testing for a few days before putting it on your face!!🤨
L-ascorbic acid sure isn’t for everyone. My skin rebels whenever I use it anymore. I love the ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate solution by the ordinary…. Slow and steady works for me! 😊 hope you’re well Patti!

I use to use the Timeless Vit C, but now I make my own Vit C serum (Labmuffins recipe) and use it together with The Ordinary Resveratrol and Ferulic acid serum.

This vitamin C serum has been giving me the impression of being those "too good to be true" products (too cheap for the formula so close to Skin Ceutical) so I haven't tried yet.

The serum is not from whole Food VITAMIN C IT'S FROM GMO CORN ( L-Ascorbic ACID) no it's not pure my friend I use from green kakadu plum from Australia.
