As doctor passionate about skin care that delivers results I want to help you quickly and efficiently pick a skin care regime that works, by explaining the science behind skin and by sharing quick product reviews.
I am a big believer that creating a skincare routine that targets your specific concerns is not a matter of your budget. There are many great affordable brands out there: The Inkey List, Good Molecules, Geek & Gorgeous or pixi skincare to name a few of my favorites, and if you know how to combine them, you are well on your way to healthy and happy skin.
Healthy and happy skin does not mean "flawless" - whatever that might be. I have been struggling with acne, hyperpigmentation and postinflammatory erythema (PIH and PIE) for most of my adult life, and it took me a while to figure out that gentle is key. I went through a retinol damaged skin barrier, acne flare ups and sun damage until I finally reached my happy place: With Tretinoin, sunscreen and of course a red lipstick!

I have been wanting to try this vitamin C for a while now and after this review I will now be purchasing it with zero hesitation. 😁
Thank you for making this video. Have a wonderful weekend! 😊
I really hope you like it as much as I do - please let me know how it goes once you have it.
This has been on my wish list forever! So glad you love it bc it got bumped up even higher 🌺🍃🌺🍃!! Thanks!
Love this C serum as well Dr Anne! I also appreciate that they keep their vitamin c serums in the fridge before shipping!
And that they make them fresh every week, that makes a huge difference!
Hello Anne! And summer greetings from Crete island Greece! Geek and Gorgeus for ever I say! and I am glad that I hear it also from you as an expert.. I traced this company, when few knew about the at all and I must say that all their 101 products are so great and so affordable! The game A 10% is so fine, no irritation, no nothing but.....a clear skin! In my 52 BEING A GRANDMOM, i NEED MY SKIN TO BE CLEAR- no make up at all- so it is important for me to trace the good quality products and this is my favourite company as also AVENE ! Love your channel and your presentations and I do like your quality, it suits my own! Keep up good work !!!! Love from the Mediterranean island!
Thank you for your lovely words and summer greeting back to Greece!
Thank you Dr Anne. I’m definitely going to try this one! 💝
Let me know how it works for you when you do.
Excellent review. You should have more subscribers ❤❤❤
Thank you. I wouldn't mind that, but I cherish the ones I have - a really kind and supportive group of people.
It's my holy grail too!! Love how my skin feels, I don't particularly like that is too watery, but is not a major problem, the results however, love, love, love it 💕
It sometimes feels as if it is about to run through your fingers, but I prefer that to other Vitamin C serums that often have a more oily texture.
Is Greek and gorgeous alcohol, fragrance and essential oils free?
@@Andrew-hr6bu Yes
I have been using Mad Hippie and really enjoying it. Prior to that I was using the Inkey List and had quick and beautiful results with that, absolutely was amazed, but as I was using it I saw so many people speak about how 20% is unnecessary and can cause irritation. I did had irritation the first 3 or 4 days but after that none and I had results in the first few days that improved even more in the weeks to follow. When I ran out I decided to try something with a lower percentage as everyone was recommending. I only just switched in the past few weeks, I am not noticing visible results yet but it goes on and absorbs beautifully, looks great under makeup and has other skincare ingredients which is nice. Will update when I finish the bottle. I haven't tried anything from the brand you are recommending and have heard such wonderful things, I may try this next, I have also heard they have a wonderful moisturizing toner that I might like to add. Thank you for the video, I am loving your channel and the frequency of your posts.
I am looking forward to you sharing your experiences, although I have to say: If it works for you and you love the results, there is no need to change that just bc other people say it is too much.
I just purchased the G&G Vitamin C serum (along with their aPad serum) and one thing that impressed me is that I am ordering from Alaska and their products were on my doorstep in five days flat. That alone is amazing. I've been using both products and thus far am pretty happy. Time will tell more. Also got smart finally and now have a skin care frig to store these products so they should keep for all the time I need!
That is fast shipping indeed, very impressive.
Vi tu video y me arriesgué a probarlo apenas estoy usándolo , aún no me acostumbro a su textura tan ligera , espero poder amarlo ☺️
I hope it will grow on you.
Bonjour je viens de vous découvrir heureuse que j'ai eu le sous titrage. J'ai acheté le c glow justement récemment. Je voulais savoir à quel moment de ma routine du matin je dois le mettre merci
Aprez nettoyer et avant SPF
I use the C glow as well. First a used a “vitamin C” serum from facetheory. It was sticky and oily (not ideal for a morning routine) and I think it’s was also a derivative.
Then I heard about this one. The price is nice, the texture is watery this very easy to apply and it’s effective. For me also, the search is over.
Afterwards, for an extra antioxidants boost, I use the survival 0 from Niod (which I highly recommend as well !)
Survival 0 sounds really interesting. I had a hard time figuring out why they called it that, but once I understood, it seemed obvious.
I was completetly reluctant to try LAA because of the stability issues. After trying almost all derivatives that are on the market and several products I decided while placing my last order at G&G to give it a chance. This is now my HG vitamin C product and I’m not going back to derivatives. Within 2 weeks I notices less PIH, less darkness in my melasma and just much brighter complexion. This is and astounishing product and can-t recommend it enough along with their A-Game, aPAd, and exfoliating acids.
I have always tried LAA as the derivatives didn't really convince me, but as I said in the video, stability was usually an issue - this one is amazing indeed!
YAY! I just checked their website and they do ship here 🤩 Thanks for the recommendation and I'll let you know how it goes. Hi from Australia
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it!
What else would you recommend from the brand. Shipping is 20euro for orders under 50euro. I want to get my money's worth.
@@babygoatsmum4122 I like the Liquid Hydration toner and have just started trying their A-Game, which is Retinaldehyde and available in two concentrations. The JellyJoker cleanser is nice, but not a must-have, and more I have not tried yet. But their Niacinamide and their hydration serum come recommended, as do their acids.
Literally one of the best vitamin Cs I've ever used! It does leave my skin with an oily looking film unlike the Dr. Brenner one 💀 it also doesn't irritate my skin while I'm using other stuff unlike the Timeless one.
I agree, absolutely love it. Still my number one!
Thank you Dr. Feel confident to try The Geek Gorgeous Vit C, :)
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
I'm on my second day of G&G. I'm not sure yet. My favorite has been Maelove's The Glowmaker followed by Timeless.
I am currently using Timeless - nice, but I like the texture of the G&G one better.
I love this serum!
Me too - it is the best and so affordable!
Thanks for this review. I am currently using the L-Ascorbic Acid powder from the Ordinary. I know, it might get too strong when mixed with another serum, but I prefer the pure form of L-Ascorbic Acid to be in powder form to avoid any potential oxidation. I am also considering By Wishtrend Pure Vitamin-C 15% with Ferulic Acid. However, it contains water, so I am a bit skeptical.
I am personally not fan of these powders - they might not oxidize, but you can never be sure which concentration you get and that they distribute evenly. If it was as easy as mixing powders in some serum, we wouldn't need cosmetic formulators.
But I guess each has their pros and cons.
The by Wishtrend one is nice, but did oxidize within 6-7 weeks for me, which is why I did not repurchase.
Certainly, I agree with you. For me, sensitivity is not an issue, but I can for sure agree on that people with sensitive skin should avoid powders. May I ask you to do a video on Benzoyl Peroxide? I am struggling with adult acne, but after having used benzoyl peroxide for some weeks, it has finally vanished. Even with using adapalene heavily, the acne persisted until I started with benzoyl peroxide
@@jakobrognlien8412 I will put it on my list of requested ingredients, but can not promise to film it anytime soon. It will certainly be more along the fall/ winter time when I might get around to it.
Can you convince me to take a chance on this one? I clicked the link of the product even before you explained why was your favorite. Thank you for the review.
Haha, let me know how it works for you when it arrives.
Best doctor ever!!!!!
Thank you.
I’ve been enjoying skinceuticals c e ferulic serum but you’ve got me interested in c-glow!
I have herd amazing things about the Skinceuticals version, but I never took the plunge and spend all that money.
@@DoctorAnne Well doctor if you're serious about reviewing these skin products for us you will have to sacrifice your wallet. Hopefully your channel will grow and you'll make it back! :)
I'm about to purchase Skinceuticals C+E +FA but of course like many I'm making sure it really is everything that people are raving about. Now looking into it I am finding negative reviews as well so that created some doubt.

@@donjuantrumpetajohnson Tretinoin is really amazing for its ant-aging benefits. Thank you for the recommendations.
hi, what do u think of skinceuticals vit c? is it worth the price?
yes and it is C glow. I am using since over 3 months (i opened my second bottle!)
It is amazing!
I was using Revolution vitamin C 12.5% (it has smell and can be sticky) for some years and now I switched to this one 15% in the mornings. It is watery and I feel it burns a little bit because is stronger than the previous but I like that is dry, no smell. I also use from geek the GAME 10 serum instead of medik 8 retinal. Is way cheaper too and same component
I haven't tried Revolution or Medik8, but I am happy to hear your switch seems to be working for you.
Hi there, did you ever use the garden of wisdom vitamine c? The reviews are great. Would love to know what your thoughts are ☺️
No, I haven't yet.
Thank you!!!!!!
You are welcome.
thank you so incredibly much for the amazing review! I have watched several of your reviews now and I love your honesty and the scientific knowledge you share.
Im looking for my first Vit C serum and this is at the top of the list... especially after your review! I do have sensitive skin at times, however, i noticed that the pH of this Bit C is higher than the other option I saw (the Timeless 10% and 20% ... I would have gone with the 10% pH 2.5 ) .
I feel that this one will be better suited to my skin as the pH is slightly closer to neutral than timeless of this will be better for my skin. May I ask, your thoughts?
I would come to the same conclusion, but want to add another thing to include in your decision: Which one is better available to you? If you need to have one of them shipped with delivery times of several weeks, that one is certainly the worst option.
@@DoctorAnne thank you so incredibly much for your reply- that definitely is one of the most important considerations... its the main reason i haven't used Vitamin C until wanting to now (ie oxidation, stability and not trusting 'freshness' of Vitamin C from amazon or in store etc. I dont think other UA-camrs would have considered to ask that! Thank you!! Fortunately, i've just discovered a way to obtain both FRESH. Im over the moon, yet now im feeling quite torn! Timeless 10 or this one... Ive seen your timeless 20% review too now. I do prefer the packaging of timeless, its 10% & it has additional soothing ingredient panthenol, but the pH.. Oh Im hopeless! I have heard this one is quite quick acting in regards to brightening though, but quick isn't necessarily always the best :) Your thoughts? Thank you so incredibly much again!

@@DoctorAnne oh thank you!! The timeless one will be just as fresh- direct from timeless via a trusted importer I know o here ( her company orders in both timeless & geek & gorgeous directly from the companies freshly made on a regular basis . @@DoctorAnne That makes me so happy! I love Paula's Choice vit C booster but it is expensive and oxidises quickly.
I live in NZ and Geek & Gorgeous have a stockist nearby in Australia now, so I ordered the vit c, niacinamide, retinal and BHA.
Love your reviews!
@@samsong24 That is great to hear! The only complaint I have with this brand is that there are places in the world where it is hard to get them, but if it is available in NZ, even better.
Thank you so much for your excellent review! :) I use squalane oil to clean my face, and then wipe off as much as possible with tissues but a small amount of the oil remains on my skin so I'm wondering if that tiny coating of oil could prevent the vitamin C serum from working? All best wishes from the UK X
It will maybe slow down penetration, but not prevent it completely.

@@Aurla-R2-D2 You are welcome.
Hi Dr. Anne, since I‘ve started using it I am getting breakouts :/ Is it possible that this is purging or can Vit C cause breakouts? Should I switch to Ascorbyl Glucoside? thank you!
While there are many possible reasons for you breaking out that have nothing to do with the product, there is a small possibility that it irritates your skin which manifests in breakouts. Vitamin C does not cause purging, so maybe this product doesn‘t agree with your skin. If that is the case, switching to another one will help.
OK, now, I have to buy it 😁👍

Hi Dr Anne , i love the C Glow serum ! I would also suggest you to try the wishtrend 15% vitamin C serum, you might like it as well 😊🤗
I tried it, but it oxidized too quickly for me, after only 6-8 weeks.
Hi dr.Anne I almost saw your videos and those are very informative,,👍can I use this c glow serum on my acne and sensitive skin?? My skin is very rough plus acne... Can you please guide me about daily routine???? it's a humble request...😔
Have you seen a dermatologist? That is the number one tip I can give you if you have acne issues. Vitamin C is possible, but if your acne is not under control, I would suggest a retinoid first and leave the Vitamin C to when you have everything else in place and your skin is adapted to that.
@@DoctorAnne bundle of thanks for your reply 😍....
No I haven't seen a dermatologist before....
My second question is which serum should I introduce to my skin first the ordinary Granactive retinoid 5% in sequalance?? Or the Retinol 0.5% ???
Because I never used retinoids or retinol before 😔
@@sidramuntaha3166 Again, go see a dermatologist, the most effective treatment for acne is prescription and you will not be able to get the same results with skincare you can get without a prescription. Exception is Differin which is available OTC in the US. For general information I have a playlist on retinoids including some reviews that I suggest you watch.
@@DoctorAnne ok dear thanks alot🥰
I love the C-glow!
And to maximize the conservation, you can buy the tiny empty bottle and fill it regularly with the serum while the bottle stay in the dark and in the fridge 😉
Yes, I read that on the website. Such an amazing idea!
Tetraforce C20 Add actives the best!! It is slovenia brand and not irritating at all, with uv protected glass bottle.
Do they ship outside Slovenia?
Which one is better for brightening, this one or Ordinary serum ascorbic acid+alpha arbutin?
Both will only work in conjunction with others, but I prefer the texture of Geek and Gorgeous.
Of course you convinced me! I’ll try that for sure, it sounds perfect! Right now I’m using Medik8 C-Tetra because I wanted to try THC type of vit C. It’s great but I think it was better for the winter season. I still have Clinique vit C Fresh Pressed 10% serum which I really love, it’s lightweight and fresh so perfect, but without ferulic acid unfortunately.
On my wish list I have:
- Medik8 WHITE BALANCE BRIGHTENING SERUM
- Medik8 Super C30 Intense
- Murad Vitamin C Glycolic Brightening Serum
- Murad Rapid Age Spot Correcting Serum
- Paula’s Choice C15 Super Booster
- Stratia C+C Serum
- Summer Fridays CC Me Serum
- Vichy LiftActiv Specialist Peptide-C Anti-Aging Ampoules
So I need a few years to answer your question which is my favourite serum 😂😂😂😂
So many vitamin C products. My wish list is just like:
- Regimen Lab C.R.E.A.M.
I have just heard people who have used both say it is better than triple lipid restore and (some) dermatologists rave about that Skinceuticals product. As a sceptic, I have opinions. Such as, lots of derms do get free products and samples from Skinceuticals and/or sell them in their clinic so may have a bias. Others may just like the texture and finish and often that is all you can tell from a product. I also know that some consider it overpriced CeraVe
But this is €70 cheaper than Skinceuticals and in a pump bottle so I might actually try it eventually
@@moose8762 I’ve never heard about that company. I’ve checked their website and their Vitamin X serum is a very nice option to try! I’m adding it to my wish list 😅 Thanks for the recommendation
Oh wow, you still have a lot of options to try there! But I am the same, already have a new one on the go for comparison...
@@moose8762 I am in two minds about Skinceuticals as well. Many people whos opinion I respect swear by it, but it is more expensive than I usually spend.

Hello there :) This video have perfect timing since im about to order my vit C today :) Shop where i order have this serum in stock :D ! Now i know what to order :D I just wonder how you apply it ? Some say on dry face after cleansing , some say after toner . With my last serum i tested both variations and when I put it on dry face it was stinging , after toner was a lot better . But I wonder since ascorbic acid have low PH , putting it on toner will not neutralize its effectiveness by rising the ph ? I asked my esthetician and she said it doesnt matter since low PH must be in bottle where wit c is stored . After putting on face it needs to absorb fast and work so ph dont matter . I dont know what to think . She also said ph of skin after cleansing with water from faucet is like 7 so toner if lowering the ph anyway to like 5 so its helping .
I agree with your esthetician, it will most likely not matter, both should work fine. Just find out what works best for your individual skin. I usually use mine after toner, but also on dry skin if I skip toner.
@@DoctorAnne thx :D Only problem is if my sunscreen have niacinamide in it .... , they say ascorobic acid and niacinamide dont mix well ..... :/
@@czitos666 That is actually not a problem. I have a few videos on which ingredients you can and can not mix, and Niacinamide and Ascorbic Acid in skincare are absolutely fine.
@@DoctorAnne oh good to know , thanks :)
I have sensitive, dehydrated skin. Do you think I can use it? Otherwise I'm thinking Medik8 tetra intense, because it has been recommended as suitable for someone like me. But it is so expensive compared to this 😅
I had no issues and my skin reacts to some Ascorbic Acid serums due to my prescription Tretinoin. But there is no way of being sure other than trying, as each skin is different. If you try this one first and it works though, you are saving yourself quite some money. If it doesn’t work, you haven't lost much.

I have not tried not keeping it in the fridge, so I can't answer that - I live directly under the roof, so my place is pretty warm and I try to avoid storing anything in my bathroom actually. The cooler it is stored, the less risk there is for oxidization.

Hi doc! Is this serum suitable for teenagers?
That depends. I have a video on the best skincare for teenage skin that I suggest you watch for some background info.

Hi dr. Anne, is vitamin C necessary if im using tretinoin? Tretinoin is already a potent antioxidant. But is using vitamin c in the morning with sunscreen and tretinoin in evening, actually enhanced the skin? Or should i just stick to tretinoin? Is the vitamin c serum and tretinoin combination safe? Such a dilemma.. Because vitamin c is so hype 🤔😅
Vitamin C and Tretinoin do work through different pathways, so one doesn't replace the other. I swear by the combo Vitamin C + SPF in the mornings and Tretinoin at night, but if I had to choose, because both would be too irritating, I would go for the Tretinoin. If yu are new to Tretinoin, I wouldn't start it at the same time with Vitamin C, but if your skin is adapted I think it is a great combination.
@@DoctorAnne Thankss. I've been using tretinoin for a long time. Planning to incorporate vitamin c + spf into the routine. Though i find vitamin c is hassle because it oxidizes easily, i was thinking of coenzyme Q10 instead. However, vitamin c is the most researched and studied which got me hooked 😅.
@@viviankate7240 I totally get what you mean, it took me years to find a Vitamin C I liked and that didn't oxidize six weeks in. But now that I found it, I keep repurchasing and gifting it to all my friends.
I’ve just ordered this and the A Game, thank you for your reviews.
I hear some are concerned that it is not in an opaque air tight dispenser...
It is opaque, but yes, I get what you mean. But as I said, it did take over three months to start oxidizing, so that is perfectly fine by me.
Is it good for uneven skin ?
Uneven skin in terms of texture or in terms of pigmentation issues?
love
So good, isn't it?
@@DoctorAnne yeah
Perfect vit.C serum.
Still my favorite.
I find C-Glow leaves the face sticky. Even when using very small amounts. It makes other products pill. I wasn't keen
I a sorry you had this experience. I didn't have any issues, but of course every skin is different.
I'm trying it, I have the same feeling as your sister, the smell of rust on my hands, I hope it works well for me 😅
That scent is typical for Vitamin C serums.
@@DoctorAnne thank you:-)
@@DoctorAnne Yes, before i used The inkey list Vit C+ EFG but i forget in Spain and decided try G&G for now only few days, but really the smell disturb me anyway that i wash my hands. I wait for see some result. I love your videos very well explained and short, like must be.💗
@@Madalia Thank you.
Will this clear my dull uneven skin
It will help with evening out the skin as part of a multi step approach which also contains sunscreen, a retinoid and maybe even an exfoliating acid. I used ti in the routine I created for my sister here, you can see the effects: ua-cam.com/video/Jw3V_dH7Br0/v-deo.html
@@DoctorAnne my face is 2 shade darker than my neck will can I get equal skin colour if I follow this ?
@@helenspark4260 As I said on the video where you also posed the question: These are aimed at brightening overly pigmented areas, but they will have an effect on all pigmentation. They aren't lightening products though.
Is it ok to use it in pregnacy?
Yes. I have a video on skincare that is safe to use in pregnancy here if you are interested: ua-cam.com/video/hkO1QIj1DpA/v-deo.html
@@DoctorAnne really helpful. Thank you a lot!
Unfortunately not available in the USA
Ships to US for free with orders over 60 Euros
If I lived in the USA, I would purchase the Timeless Serum. It is more expensive, but you can easily find discount codes and they do frequent offers.
@@re-nuevo6378 and I believe some Targets carry Timeless products
I live in America and I've ordered from them a different product and they ship here
Their website says they ship to the US?
It's not easy to find it in the US.
Yes, they are better to get if you are in Europe.
It is A STRUGGLE to use this serum, it's gone before I can even spread it on my face
Really? It absorbs quickly, but I can spread it easy enough. Maybe you are not using enough?
@@DoctorAnne Very possible! I'm still quite new to skin care and I am fearful of nasty irritations 😁. But I will continue using it, thank you very much for your reply!
@@danielely3807 Always better to err on the side of caution!
