Loving the series and the focus on scenery and nature. No drawn out monologues about what’s being eaten for every meal.

It's so refreshing to watch videos that focus on route, beauty, and solitude instead of gear and personalities. Like reading the old guidebooks

Thanks Wayne! It was a great experience and I'm glad the video turned out.
I've been working on compiling all 9 episodes into one 70 min documentary. That'll be out in a couple months but it's mostly the same footage - just fixing up some editing in the first few episodes where I was still learning how to do this.

Yeah Kakwa is the best. The trek to there is super wild, but it sure feels like a great accomplishment when you make it through country that wild.

Hello Dan. Thanks for the great videos! I have a question: what did you film with. I am always curious about it. Great quality and stabilization, right? And the other question: if to choose one way only, which would be the best time to hike the GDT, for you? Thanks and greetings from Switzerland! (Don't hesitate to contact me whenever you wish to come to teh Alps, I will gladly welcome both of you for free stay and hikes organization.

We filmed most of it with a Panazonic ZS100 which is nice because it has stabilization, 4K video, good zoom, and a large sensor. But it's not waterproof so it got wet in the middle and starting near the end of this episode we had to film with our iPad mini for a bit, and then got a Nikon AW100 on trail to finish the hike.
The normal time to hike the GDT in early July, althoough if you're fast you can start as last as early August and finish in September and then you have very few bugs which is nice. I would start SOBO around August 1, which was basically the second half of this hike.
