This is the most beautiful hiking movie / video I have ever seen. I had no idea the GDT was so insane - in its beauty and its challenges and the wilderness of it, no roads etc. I knew that T and Dan had yo-yo’d it but didn’t get the scope or understand it (nice surprise to see them by the way, they have built a global community and I use their tents and they’re just so darn nice!) You’re both a joy to watch, cinnamon is a treasure. Really blown away by the production values. What more can I say. Except: 🤩 😍 🏆 🙏
I'm a pro videographer, went to school for visual anthropology, and a mountain guide. If you didn't know this already, you have a career in filmmaking or doc making. This is an outstanding production on your part, especially given that you were doing one of the most challenging thru hikes. The authenticity, storytelling, cinematography are professional. And any company/project would be lucky to have you. I'm sure you're just planning out your next amazing trail, but if you ever felt like working professionally in this industry--you'd be welcome with open arms! Congrats on an amazing life experience and a beautiful film to be proud of. Thank you for sharing this with the world! So cool to see the Durstons on here too!
Thank you so much for saying this. I would love to work in the industry. It’s been difficult building a career around this with the travel addiction though 😅. We’ll see what the future brings!
This was one of the most awesome hiking films I have watched. I really miss the days when I was younger and spending days hiking the Rockies. This film brings back those memories. My wife and I still live and hike in the Colorado Rockies. We don't do the long hikes anymore. After 65 years of hiking, I am still in awe of the beauty of nature. I am 74 and my wife is 70 and we still plan on hiking for many, many more years. As for you two, never stop...
My new favourite video: when life is dull or daunting or just a bit too heavy, I come to youtube to watch hiking films and they just fill my heart. Yours is just one of the best I have ever seen!
I am blown away! This is one of the greatest hiking films I've ever seen - not just on UA-cam...I mean anywhere. It's one of the few films that make wish I could somehow forget it so that I can have that feeling again of watching for the first time. Bravo, Kodak and Cinnamon. This was pure inspiration.
As a trail worker for 15+ years... this was an absolutely wonderful documentary to watch, and very well-crafted. The calm demeanor between you two is admirable to see as well. It genuinely feels good to see and hear people value trail work. Building and maintaining trails was one of the best jobs I've had. Well, it really was THE best. Excellent job on making this film. Thank you.
Thank you cinnamon and kodac. I admire your humbleness, appreciation for beauty and your great love for nature. Thank you for sharing your adventure with us. Hope cinnamons feet are all happy again. Much love to all my fellow travelers ❤😊
I watch a lot of self-filmed and -edited hike videos. I honestly thought that this was not one, but a professional production instead, with a film crew... wonderfully done! Thank you for a beautiful presentation of GDT!
I have to hand it to you both, lugging all that camera gear and taking the entire trail to film it! What a gift! Thank you for some incredible views of some of the most beautiful places on Earth!
I laughed. I cried. I felt like I was with you two. Inspiring. I can only imagine the hardships that went unseen.. Thanks for sharing your journey Kodak and Cinnamon. May your story here inspire many.
We did endure unseen hardships, like all of us in this world, but weathered them the same as all the rest. Just eternally grateful for the experiences we are fortunate to share together out there. Thank you for the beautiful words ✌️
I hiked parts of the Great Divide Trail last summer and was truly amazed by this place...I recommend it to anyone that has the opportunity to visit. If you love nature, beauty and majestic landscape just do yourself a favour and go, take a tent a good pair of shoes and a backpack, that's all it takes.
WOW!! What a great documentary. I enjoyed seeing the beautiful Canadian wilderness showcased in this way. Most people will never get to experience the rockies in such an intimate way and I'm so thankful that you've all taken the time to hike this trail and share it with everyone.
This documentary hit me right in the feels. The majestic landscapes and the the brutal hiking sections are a engaging backdrop. It is the classic story ,the journey of the heroes, but with the focus on the feelings of all the people in the film, their connections to, and their experiences on the trail. I loved it.
I am not sure if you remember, but I met you and Cinnamon as u both were hiking out of Kakwa in the wee hours of 8 pm in Sept of 2022. After excitedly sharing stories and congratulations, I shared some food and you carried on. Thanks for taking me back to trail. Since I finished my own solo GDT thru hike from Waterton to Kakwa in 2021, I have repeatedly gone back to do sections. I was even back on section B around the Cataract Creek area last week. I am a hiking guide and work along the trail a lot. It's a beautiful route no matter how u hike it. It was great to me we you both and one encounter I've not forgotten. Happy adventures!
We do remember! You’re the first person we saw in two weeks and were SO FREAKING HUNGRY you practically saved us! Thanks for sharing, happy to hear your’e out there guiding. Happy trails✌️
This was truly an amazing film; very very well done. Really impressed by the cinematography, narrative storytelling, and your authentic positivity while acknowledging the struggle. The cinematography alone of shot after shot of jaw dropping beauty, of perfect framing, of the variety in landscapes and flora encountered is effectively unmatched. Truly a remarkable accomplishment. Also glad and grateful to see so much positivity in the comments. Well deserved!
Absolutely wonderful!! Congrats to everyone involved! Kodak & Cinnamon are very fortunate to have found each other....they have quite a story! Treasure all that you share! Peace and continued health.....
I thoroughly enjoyed this documentary. Due to a serious knee injury I will likely never do big hikes again, so it is nice to live vicariously through videos like this. I’ve never done a through hike, just day hikes. I am grateful that I can still do some nature walks on flatter trails and that I can still manage some smaller hills.
For the person who got physically disabled videos like yours bring an incredible amount of joy and wonder! Thank you so much for doing the hike and sharing your experiences through this incredible film!
I just realized my long time favorite nature wallpapers are actually all from GDT! and now I replaced some of them with screenshots from your wonderful movie. :)) Thank you for such an inspirational, motivational production.. you make us go on the journey together with you, the story telling is so sincere it almost feels like we're watching our friends trailing.. now I'm looking forward for a chance in life to be present at least one of those amazing spots in the documentary. You make us remember how such a precious planet we're living on to discover.. Thank you Kodak and merci Cinnamon; your humble endurance means a lot.
I’m Canadian and I’d never heard of the Great Divide Trail until this film. Thank you for sharing your journey and your love of nature and for each other.
How humbling, inspiring and daunting. I feel thankful to my Creator for such gifts as r found in the Great Outdoors !!!! Thank u 4 bringing to me !!!!!. I think U did a great job with your sharing 👍🏼😀
Wow, epic is so overused but this journey was EPIC. Kodak the scenery was amazing but the real reward must have been the time spent with your trail companion. Thank you to u both. I grew up in Kananskis country 60 years ago. I thought the wild was washed away. I was wrong Thankyou so much for taking me back. Carry on!
Thank you! It was an experience we will never forget and always be grateful that we had so much time to spend together. We're back in the swing of full-time work now and look back on those days often. We'll be free again soon enough.... Glad you enjoyed the film, thanks for the kind words. Happy trails!
I'm taking on the GDT starting at the end of June, and this is incredibly inspiring. I can't wait to take in the sights and make some unforgettable memories!
Thank you, for being strong, courageous, for loving the majesty of the Natural world and, for devoting yourLife-time, yo these adventures!!! The scenery and various climate zones, the Flora and Fauna, your humanity...all is so clearly and honestly shared!! My best wishes for your lives together, doing what you feel passionate about!!!
I loved the way her hair became messier and messier the further they go. And yet, they couldn't care less for their looks while looking at the beautiful landscape
Wooow, more than impressive, there is no better way to show the GDT as you demonstrate it here, great talent filming, amazing editing, showing the trail as it really is, felt nostalgic watching this, I could relive the trail again and feel it in a completely different way, thank you for that! It was a pleasure meeting you guys at the very beginning of this incredible adventure, peace ✌🏻
Wow. Thank you so much for the kind words Rudy! We’re glad you enjoyed it and we’re been loving all your videos as well! Might even be a bit jealous of your adventures!!!!! Cheers my friend and happy trails. Hope to cross paths again.
Wow guys that was so beautiful it brings me so much joy to see so much untouched natural beauty. Really amazing country god created. Awesome adventure. Two beautiful people and a Amazing video. You guys are awesome. Respect to you both and thank you for sharing. Much love 🏕🔥🇬🇧
Kodak and Cinnamon I loved every minute of this film .Of course the scenery but mainly because you showed your human side, telling it like it is. Greetings from Australia
Ilse and Ryan, thank you very much for sharing your amazing adventure with this splendid documentary. I loved every second of it! Wishing all the best to both of you 😍😍
Unreal Kodak! Been a minute since we celebrated our birthdays together at breakfast in Skykomish. Not long after you two met I guess! Stoked to see you're still at it and now you've inspired me to thru-hike the GDT. Thank you for that and congrats to you both on finishing it off. Sincerely, MacGyver and Danger Dog.
I'm good buddy, slogging the path of a house holder. It's a struggle, but with a little luck and some Bitcoin we shall come out the other side. Inshallah! Keep it up with the videography man. You're a natural.@@RyanKodakBrown
wowowow!! Beautiful film, stunning country, great adventure, thank you 2 for not only making this documentary but sharing it! i doubt i'll be able to check off doing the GDT trail, so I'm so appreciative to experience it this way!
Spectacular filming, editing, and ATTITUDES. I have such respect for back country hikers. Far different and 100x more difficult than walking European Caminos ( my experience) I have huge gratitude for the GDT Trail Managers Group and all the Volunteers who spend time clearing and maintaining this trail. Well done! Incredibly inspiring. ❤ from an Albertan
It's hard enough to hike the challenging terrain that Kodak & Cinnamon did, add in the amazing thoughtful detail of cinematography. The extra equipment, camera shots, guest interviews, and planning requires so much extra time. It was obvious that you wanted to share your beautiful experience with us, the 99% who will not have the pleasure to hike the GDT. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
I like to joke that I hiked the trail three times with all the back-and-forths to get the camera..... Thank you. We appreciate you and the kind words✌️
Oh my goodness- no one should make the decision for you or leave you for YOUR decision!! If they choose to leave your site based on YOUR decision then they weren’t supporting you from the beginning. You are doing amazing and the fact that you have hiked over 300 miles with a broken fibula is amazing AND it’s healing!! I can’t wait to see where your journey brings you. Be safe and carry on ❤
I have physically done 0 miles of the CDT but have done visually 100% of the CDT through this awesome documentary. Thank you both so much for letting me hike with you through all of the brush and wet cold rain, the cold and sore feet, and thru the amazing tall mountains and being able to see the beautiful wildlife. Great job on this accomplishment of starting and finishing the CDT and great job of putting together the documentary.
Ryan and Ilse, I watch a lot of videos, this for work, learning, and pleasure. And I can say that I fast forward all of them....most of the time. Your video is one of maybe 7 or 8 I've watched from start till the end since the last 3 months.. And it's the only one that long. Your story (Kodak & Cinnamon) is very unique, just like in a fairy tale. And you two went through some rough hikes over those 1200km. But, you can have the best fairy tale history and went through amazing places, that if you don't have a real talent at story telling, and editing, then....it'll remain just a so-so video among millions on the Web. We see this every day on UA-cam. In your case, you have it all. Someone, somewhere, for whatever reason blessed you two in meeting each other and with an amazing talent. You two are not only GREAT people, but you're also an inspiration. Now, about a career in film making. It's easy... Just take it as a CDT thru-hike and everything will be fine: Plan, but not too much, enjoy your time together, never abandon no mater what life is throwing at you, be inspired, keep taking care of each other, and always be on the lookout for technology and how to edit better all the time. You have a talent at story telling and that... you don't learn at school. Well...yes yo do, but there's a big difference between someone going school-like and someone with a natural talent. Take care, and may you two stay together until the end of times. It's important! Because if you don't, then we'll have to close the CDT... ;)
I take my sons backpacking/hiking in the Canadian Rockies each summer. I really enjoyed how you portrayed the experience of the Rockies. Your storytelling was excellent. Thanks for sharing. Cheers.
Amazing! Thanks for bringing your adventure to those of us who cannot for a variety of reasons will never get to experience this great wild open place!
... Amazing video ,, could not step away , even for a minute .... incredible trail and scenery ,, majestic landscapes ... Thank You SO much for this ..... Stay Safe ....
Thank you. Our itinerary wasn’t ideal but was based off the GDTA recommendation for medium hike (whatever they call it!) they list three sample itineraries and I’d base your hike off one of there’s. As for tips, anything in particular questions? I’d be happy to help if I can.
So well done, Kodak! Thank you. I just moved many hours closer to the GDT (within Canada) and once I overcome my hesitation due to the permit situation, I will hike this! Thanks to Dan and T for promoting this as well.
Greetings from Italy! Congrats on finishing the trail and thanks for taking us along, much appreciated :) Hope to go and hike the trail sometime! Ps seeing the Durstons is always a joy...
Out Standing ! I will be a senior, senior citizen in 30 days,,Jan 06,, Your video has made me want to "DO" the APT. Start in March in GA. Thank you most Sincerely. GHW. Will video what I can.
Wow, that's incredible! The AT holds a special place in my heart as it was my first through hike. I wish you the best of luck out there! Know that there will, most likely, be folks even older than you. We meet them all the time doing the most remarkable things. Happy trails!!!!!!
Wow, incredible documentary and story telling. Love this. You just popped up on my feed. I'll be watching. Thank you so much for this incredible work!!!❤ had tears at the end. Well done!!!😂
Thanksgiving night and I’m thankful that wonderful people like you have just shown me something so beautiful and wild. I wish you love, health, and prosperity.
Stunning in every sense...some of the walking looks v difficult... not easy descending on scree .. awesome scenery and beautiful filming. Thanks for sharing ❤
Thank you so much for this mesmerizing film documenting all these awe inspiring people. Watching felt like one long, inspirational meditation about this beautiful and fragile planet that we all share. This spoke directly to my deepest consciousness about the goodness of life and our universal connection to everyone and everything living here. Love and blessings from Spokane, WA. USA
Beautiful documentary and a wonderful way to share your stories of this trail. Thank you for sharing your journey. I am always grateful to be so close to the Canadian Rockies. Hiking and camping out there brings me back to myself and peace unlike any other. I encourage people to connect with nature to connect with themselves. And to enjoy the great outdoors! Anyway, now my next step is to share this video. 🎉☺️ Share share share! 🤩✨
This film is an ode to nature and hiking. An absolutely amazing and awe-inspiring document. Love your mindsets, thank you so much for sharing. Congrats on this massive achievement and wishing you Ilde and Ryan lots of happy trails !!! 🏔🌲
Watched yesterday and this was simply breathtaking. You guys did an amazing job telling the story of the Great Divide and the images were visually stunning. Thank you for sharing with us!
Wow, wow, wow. This was outstanding! I didn't want this to end. You both are such amazing storytellers and do it so beautifully. Cannot wait to check out more of your videos! ❤
This may be my favourite film regarding our great outdoors. I am member of the GDTA but I do not feel my previous statement is in any way biased by that. Your cinematography, storytelling and both your senses of humour and personalities make this a standout doc and I look forward to seeing more from you guys. Hopefully this will inspire more people to become involved in the maintenance and preservation of this Great Difficult Trail!
Wow, thank you. The Great Difficult Trail Association is a wonderful organization and we’re stoked to hear that you’re a member. We hope it inspires people as well 🤙
Hey Kodak, i just started watching your video but it looks like you are having the time of your life! I only met you breafly but i could tell that you were a true adventurer. I retired back in 2020 from 40 years of shiftwork in a steel mill. I keep myself busy walking, running, and biking. Take care my friend. I hope to see you and your wife again!.
Hi Buddy! Thank you, you’ve been there from the very first video in Dravo Cemetery! My grandfather worked in a mill as well as some of my cousins. My grandfather was a machinist and I’ll always remember the wooden clogs to keep his shoes from melting. I just started work as a green keeper on a golf course in Belgium. I hope to make it back to Pittsburgh in the next year or two. I’ll introduce you two! Maybe ride around the point or something. Take care and Happy Thanksgiving!
This is the most beautiful hiking movie / video I have ever seen. I had no idea the GDT was so insane - in its beauty and its challenges and the wilderness of it, no roads etc. I knew that T and Dan had yo-yo’d it but didn’t get the scope or understand it (nice surprise to see them by the way, they have built a global community and I use their tents and they’re just so darn nice!)

I second that emotion!
That's a wonderful response. I hope it stays at the top of this post. Maybe not want to skip this.
I don’t have the degrees or experience … all I know is that this video took my breath away and I’m grateful for the experience.

Outstanding
I can't tell you how much I love this film. I bought it when it was originally released and now I'm watching it again on UA-cam!

Great job completing the hike and making an amazing documentary. Loved the cinematography and your storytelling.

Be safe and carry on ❤
Thank you for sharing this amazing documentary. Incredibly beautiful and inspiring. Well done all around!
Thanks
Thank you!!!

Thank you! We're glad you liked it!
Heck yeah! Incredible video. Would y'all ever consider posting your itinerary and some tips on how you got from A to B?
Thank you. Our itinerary wasn’t ideal but was based off the GDTA recommendation for medium hike (whatever they call it!) they list three sample itineraries and I’d base your hike off one of there’s.
As for tips, anything in particular questions? I’d be happy to help if I can.
What spectacular country! I was in Canada in 1980, I'd like to go back someday. I visited Yoho National Park. There is no place like it.⛰️⛰️
No place like it indeed!

So well done, Kodak! Thank you. I just moved many hours closer to the GDT (within Canada) and once I overcome my hesitation due to the permit situation, I will hike this! Thanks to Dan and T for promoting this as well.
Thank you! The permit situation can be a challenge but it's doable .I'm grateful for Cinnamon as she did a lot of the planning. Happy trails!

USA
Thank you for the beautiful words. With love and blessings from Belgium ✌️
I love you love the micro little details of the wideness like the flowers and bugs and micro beauty.
I think this was the most beautiful video i’ve ever watched. I’m so inspired. thank you for this gift

Watched yesterday and this was simply breathtaking. You guys did an amazing job telling the story of the Great Divide and the images were visually stunning. Thank you for sharing with us!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
We hope it inspires people as well 🤙
Thank you, thank you ❤ I have appreciated this video more than you know! I’m still smiling 😊
We're really happy you enjoyed it so much. 😊 Thank you for the beautiful compliment.
Super great video. That’s some beautiful country up there. Loved it. Thanks for sharing
This was just so beautiful. Thank you so much❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
It is simply amazing. Thank you so much.
Most welcome 😊
