America the Beautiful's lyrics were written by Katharine Lee Bates and the music was composed by Samuel A. Ward. This arrangement, by Philip Rothman, was commissioned by Carnegie Hall for the 2014 NYO-USA.

Each summer, Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute brings together the brightest young musicians from across the country (ages 16-19) to form the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA). In 2014, following a two-week training residency with leading professional orchestra musicians, these remarkable teenagers will be joined by conductor David Robertson and violinist Gil Shaham for an eight-city coast-to-coast US tour. I’ve always felt this should be our national anthem
natesquared agreed, this song is excellent and is about America, but our current national anthem isn't actually pleasing to listen to and is about how our flag looked after waving on a battlefield, it speaks nothing of the heart of the people and paints us in a bit of a negative light.
Alot of people consider America the Beautiful an unofficial anthem.

IMO America the Beautiful would be a better national anthem than the Star Spangled Banner in almost every way
People say that this should be our national anthem but I don’t think so. Other national anthems talk about how nice or pretty their country is. Our anthem is about the shear integrity we have, that even in the most trying times, our flag, our nation, our people, still stand tall and proud. This is a beautiful song, but I think the Star spangled banner is a perfect representation of what all ‘true’ Americans believe in.

Beautifully played. Fun fact. This was not written about the tri-state area. This song is about Colorado, Pikes Peak. I don’t think anyone in the right mind would refer to the mid-Atlantic region as being beautiful. Random trivia.

This is the best version I could find so far , however the Family guy version is the winner but I can not find it anywhere . Does anyone know where the Family Guy S9 Ep2 - ( Excellence in Broadcasting ) version can be found ??? This was the Rush Limbaugh episode where he flies away as an eagle to their version of America the Beautiful .

The Watermelon Factory this is the national youth orchestra. They range from 16-19 year olds. Each one of those kids are the best student musicians in the usa. Its EXTREAMLY hard to get into.
This rendition is better than a lot of the professional orchestras around the world. Don't dismiss it because of their age. Most of them have probably practiced way above 10 000 hours each.

The conductor looks completely bored, actually he is not conducting at all, he is just keeping time. These kids play just awesome and this is such a wonderful arrangement but there is a very strange modulation at 01:18
No he isn´t, well he might be by U.S. standards.
What is your definition of conducting then? A conductor is supposed to keep a clear beat for the musicians. Every orchestra or choir I’ve conducted required a clean beat in order to perform adequately. Conductors aren’t supposed to be jumping around like Leonard Bernstein.
