  • Is the New Age Of Lishi Tools A Game Changer? Let’s Find Out!

    Lishi tools have been historically utilized in the automotive industry and NOW they are starting to appear in the residential / commercial lock market in the form of the Kwikset (KW1) and Schlage (SC1) keyways. These are two of the most common residential locks that one can find in North America.
    What is so special about the Lishi 2-in-one Pick and Decoder?
    It it has the ability to have a true novice learn how to pick open a lock and decode it very quickly! You can literally decode a picked lock IN SECONDS and have a permanent key made!
    What are the potential implications?
    This makes it so someone could potentially pick, decode, and code cut a key in minutes. This could be done with the best intentions such as for a customer or for the worst of intentions such as someone seeking covert unauthorized entry.
    These tools are starting to become more widely available and in more formats. They are starting to change the landscape of residential security and it is exciting and terrifying at the same time to see them expand.
    What Are Some Of The Current Fail-Safes?
    1. Locksmiths won’t typically cut a code cut key for someone they do not know or someone that cannot reasonably show ownership of the lock.
    2. This tool can only be currently purchased by locksmiths
    3. Most unauthorized entry comes from destructive entry and not through lock picking. As nice as it looks in the movies picking a real lock takes time and patience and is much more difficult in a “field setting” vs a “lab setting.”

      Lockpicks.com already has the kw1 for $70. There one of my favorite places to buy things from. They have just about everything and they will match any price. Customer service is fantastic also I can order something with the cheapest shipping on a Monday and it's in my mailbox by Wednesday, Thursday at latest. Everywhere else sparrows,lockpickshop,lockpickworld,multipick,Peterson's, there all great products but there shipping "same in price" takes 5-7 days.

      You won't be disappointed. Like I said I've bought items from just about everywhere and there service is great. Shipping is free if you spend $100 or more and as you know that's not hard to do. Especially if you buy the kw1 for $70

    Do you know of any keyways that will take different keys? Surely there must be some out there that share the same warding so different keys are useable in either.

      That keyway is also not technically hard but it can be tough for someone that is new. I really like how regardless of the bitting this tool just picks the lock. The decoding feature I like even more. For me, it is almost unbelievable how well it can decode a lock

    My only question is how well this works in the real world. For instance on a side door where the knob is on the left side of the door? Perhaps even a 2 3/8" backset. That tensioner... I assume will not open all the way... Does that make it more difficult to use?

    • @HelpfulLockPicker
      @HelpfulLockPicker  4 роки тому

      The tensioner can be switched to the other side also they have ones with the grid on the opposite side.
      These are extremely useful in the real world and can really improve your practice.

      It only fits the keyway it is designed for. So, it will not he too helpful unless you have the correct Lishi. They haven't made any residential ones in a euro keyway that I know of

    My question is why didn't you just buy an SC-4 and use it for the 5 pinner? Seems to work for me, but you have to use it more thoughtfully.

    • @HelpfulLockPicker
      @HelpfulLockPicker  5 років тому

      boredlockpicker recommended against it. He made a video on it and I would need to watch it again to see his reason. On paper it makes sense but he had some trouble using the SC4 reliably on an SC1 to decode
