Hiboy S2 Electric Scooter Review!

  • The S2 is a good budget scooter option, I saw good range and top speed, right up with that advertised. The braking was just ok and the ride is firm even with the honeycomb tires. The folding mechanism and overall build are quite good, the app is handy for changing certain parameters you can't get to with the button pad but not necessary for riding.

    I got this scooter last week. Its really good. It goes up to about 20 or 21 mph. Decent battery. 2 nice lights. It has suspensions on both tires. Its $400. For that kind of $$ (without spending a king's ransom on a scooter) you're getting a very nice scooter. I suppose that if you are planning on doing more off road riding then you would probably need something more serious but for any city...this is your scooter. Again its a reasonable price ($400 was my limit as I have a car). I've read reviews on other scooters and from what I saw this is the best scooter for under $550 or $600.

      For the price I paid, it's an awesome scooter, but the rattling sound from the folding lock on the rear fender is kind of annoying and the shock absorption is not that great. I ended up buying a Ninebot Max after using it more than a half year

    I really enjoyed the hiboy S2 it was it's my first scooter and it definitely it's fast and it's not as comfortable as to the other scooters and you're right man the the noise from the back spring that helps click the handlebars is very loud take a bit of quick tie or a couple of rubber bands to stop it from vibrating and essentially the scooter becomes very silent after you do that measure but five out of five scooters for 5 out of 5 stars is what I'm going to give this scooter thanks for the review

  • @Victor-tl4dk
    @Victor-tl4dk 11 місяців тому +3

    Thank you for "reviewing" a "normally priced" "commuter" scooter!!
    The hard tires are also something I'm thinking about. I think it would be a great scooter for me except for that. There aren't really as many choices as I would like so I might go with it.
    Not only is the ride "important," but also the "wear and tear" that more bumps can have on other parts.
    Any thoughts about locking it up? I'm not very "security-minded," In fact, I often choose to cringe at how seriously some people choose to take it sometimes, but I would like *something*- anything- to "physically" lock up to on it. I do not "understand" why "manufacturers" don't just weld a little "loop" in the front or something. Someone could easily just pick it up and take it as if it were me taking it! While it "can't" be "driven" (maybe- because of the "software") there's still probably about $100-200 worth of batteries and motor in it... and someone might be able to "unbrick" it somehow too. To me this kind of seems similar in some ways, maybe, to leaving keys in "your" car and the door "unlocked" while nowhere near it. There's a good "chance" "you'd" have your car when "you" got back- probably almost "certainly," in fact, but it's just... ... "irresponsible"- I guess.

    • @ElectronSurfer
      @ElectronSurfer  11 місяців тому +1

      If you lock the stem portion by where it folds you can usually get a secure mounting point for a lock on any scooter.
      I do hear you on the hard tires, it is a trade off. I will say the small size of scooter tires are much harder to change than bike tires.
      Thanks for the comment

    Excellent review! It certainly was professional quality. I just found an S2 in a dumpster today. The date on it is “2020.7.15.” I noticed all four hexagon screws below the charger connection were loose, but I managed to tighten them up. It looks like something is broken off on the rear brake. The rear brake cable connection is loose. And the part that you fold down the handle bar on the rear fender is missing (it has coat hanger wire on it as a Jerry rig fix). But other than that I have not found any obvious crash damage. Also the charger is missing. Do you have any idea what issue could have caused this to get scrapped? I would like to fix it if I can. But if not, I’ll just take it to the Goodwill to scrap it.

    The suspension adjustment should be used as a SAG setting. The heavier the rider the more preload. The goal is to have suspension barely into its travel when the rider is on it. If it’s too soft the spring is always riding in a compressed/stiffer part of its range. Ride will not get better for a 175lb rider by loosening the bolt on those tiny shocks.

      That is a little bit of a tough question, it can depend on how rough you are with the scooter and what kind of riding conditions you have. The key is properly maintaining the battery, not storing it at 0% or 100% charge. If you do that you should get years of use. Generally, what I see is if it last through the warranty period (1 year) than people usually upgrade before the scooter is having problems. Cheers!

      I think Hiboy and Levy are pretty much on the same level. I have a Hiboy Max3 you can look at if you are in Sacramento. I have heard mixed reviews about Hiboy dealing with issues, honestly I think you'd hope that you don't run into any issues because most scooter companies will supply parts (sometimes you have to wait awhile) and expect you to do the work. The benefit of Hiboy is you didn't spend all that much and even if it had an issue you would be able to sell it for a few bucks.
