Thanks for your review of my film. Just a note. The chalkboard gag and the locker room room scene were part of the original shoot. There were small elements added later as additional material and the ending was newly added. Also, I've never met Wes Craven, but I love and agree with his comment. Again - thanks.

Only thing I didn’t agree with was him saying it was low budget if I remember the original was super grainy and cheaply made I thought!! The second one is actually in my top 5 movies ever !!! I love it so much and it’s so underrated

I loved Mary Lou, Prom Night 2. It surprise me because it was a direct-to-video horror movie and I didn't expect much from it. Wendy Lyon was great as Vicki and Lisa Schrage was pretty good as Mary Lou. Michael Ironside was good as usual. Nice practical effects and a nice story. The 3rd is OK, but not as good as this one. Also, you're going to love Superstition.
Actually after doing some research,I discovered that this film did have a limited theatrical release.

Been singing the praises of this film for a few years now after a friend recommended this and POPCORN to me. Both were that pre-SCREAM sharp, self-awareness that was WAY ahead of its time, and dare I say, this film is FAR superior to the OG with Jamie Lee. Massive praise to the Canadian Carrie...also, I sing that damn 'Hello Mary Lou' song ALL THE TIME the last few years after watching this movie so many times.
Agreed brother! So glad I finally gave this one a chance. It's so unique and refreshing! And that locker room scene. Wow.

Glad you brought up how reshoots can be good for a movie! I can understand why people are freaking out about the H40 reshoots BUT I think we’re forgetting that reshoots can make a film 10x better. For example: Halloween 2 (1981) went back to do reshoots and without the reshoots H2(1981) would make no sense. One of the scenes they went back to shoot was the awesome scene of Michael Myers finding out that Laurie is at the Hospital through the radio. Had the crew not gone back to reshoot and add that scene Halloween 2 would make no sense and just have Michael randomly appear in the hospital. So reshoots really can impact and improve a film!
I LOOOOVED this movie as a kid!! Just as much if not more as an adult. One of my favorite deaths in a movie.............A Whop Bomma Loo Bop a whop bam boo!! Squish!!
That line is so infectuous. One of my favorite lines from a horror movie.
Glad you reviewed this one! Always a fun watch! The naked locker room scene definitley inspired the naked locker room scene in "The Faculty"! They even looked alike with the long blonde hair.

Haven't seen too many Freddy movies, but they obviously had thought's of the Exorcist when making this. Possession, Catholic churches, dead kids head turns completely around, and we even have a priest chanting "the power of Christ compels you". Heck they even make reference to the Exorcist at one point
It's 2019 and the rocking horse scene still gives me the creeps

This sequel was shown a lot on USA network in the early 90s. There are 2 more Prom Night films not counting the remake of the original.
I owned this on VHS back in the day and still hope to find it on blu ray.

Thanks for the review as always!! There is a scene in this movie that constantly gave me nightmares as a kid. It was when their is a pop up silhouette of Mary Lou at the top of the stairs of the school basement. That scene alone always made me afraid to go up my stairs.

I remember this one from USA Up All Night. My favorite kill is the locker one. I mention this in the group but I remember writing for a good time call Mary Lou in the restroom at school. I had to be like in the 5th grade at the time lol.
Now that it's officially prom season, seeing as my nephew got back from his, this would be the best time for the Prom Night 3: The Last Kiss review that we have been hoping for.

I actually love this sequel more than the first. Mary lou came back for pt 3 but its a different girl playing her character and the acting in that one is god awful, wish they could've brought mary lou back one more time in the franchise . Good review .

I love this movie. Wendy Lyon really nails Vicki and she has a difficult role. This is definitely B-horror and worth it. Who else watched this on Up All Night?

I have never seen this movie, or any other of the Prom Night movies. I never felt interested because I knew it wasn’t a slasher like the original film. Regardless, this review makes me think that maybe I should give it a chance. You know what’s probably better, though? May! Get on it! 😂
Jokes aside, great review. There’s so many movies you’ve reviewed lately that I haven’t seen. It feels pretty awesome being a horror fan for so many years, seeing so many obscure horror movies, and still feeling like you’ve just scratched the surface.
Nice review Lee! Ahh the memories, I actually watched this when I was about 9 or 10. It's funny this was the Saturday afternoon movie on one of the local stations here in Phoenix and I loved it. I remember really liking Prom Night 3 which followed this one on Saturday afternoon, but part 3 is definitely more fun and comedic compared to part 2. Hey I was a young kid so I think I appreciated the humorous tone of the third one at the time, so I'm not really sure how it holds up today. Looking forward to hear your thoughts on Prom Night 3,( which Amazon isn't streaming currently.)
Andrew Bouk you can find pt3 on fire stick, the terrarium tv app, but they have the dvd edited version , the sex scenes with mary lou and gruesome kills are cut out.

Lee I felt the same way part 2&3 of prom night had a lot of nightmare on elm street vibes with the in and out between Mary lou world and reality and it was awesome also loved the kills in both

Love this film. A stand alone movie that was compared to a David Lynch or Brian De Palma film which says a lot for a little genre picture of the decade. I have all four of the original franchise.

Remember that DVD print of 3 is heavily edited for television. You might want to try to look up a VHS print on UA-cam. That should have all the gory goodness, along with some nudity, if you can find it.
Fair warning about the DVD print for Prom Night 3: The Last Kiss. The print which is a double bill with Prom Night 4, is a heavily edited for TV cut. All of the best scenes are cut from it. The best thing I can suggest is tracking down a VHS of it. That will have all the best R rated scenes fully intact. Unless there is another print out there, that is the best I can suggest

Prom Night 2 is an interesting one, I like Prom Night 3 but not everyone does! Yeah the Sorority House Massacre BluRay had only 1200 copies so good thing you got a copy now Lee, I was looking for it and found it on DiabolikDVD and got copies for myself and my mother and the picture and sound quality is outstanding! I love April Fool's Day hope you review it!

Great review. This movie is kind of underrated. For some reason i enjoy the third one the most though.
I really loved this movie every time it was on USA up all Night I had too watch it and I rented it a lot at video stores when it came out on DVD I had too have it and I have all of the Prom night movies even the 2 movie disc of prom night 3 and 4 and yes they did cut out a few stuff from prom night 3 that was on the VHS and I loved that in PM 3 Mary Lou rips out hearts that was always cool too me.

This one is one of those horror movies that isn't good, but has it's loyal fans out there. This film is not the worst thing i have evèr seen, but not the greatest.

Ah, Sorority House Massacre, another I've not seen in awhile. However, judging by your reviews, I think you'll like it. However, if I remember right, Sorority House Massacre 2, they kinda confused the back story with that of the first Slumber Party Massacre.
I absolutely love this movie!! More than the first "Prom Night"...one thing I disagree with slightly is that you thought the first movie had a higher production quality and this one was more like a B movie. I think the first one didn't feel like a high budget flick and it was slightly better only because Jamie Lee Curtis and Leslie Nielson were in it. "Hello Mary Lou" is better than a B movie in a way, but not high budget quality either. The story is better than the first, but that's probably because its not a slasher film like the first one was...thank you for your awesome channel! I'm addicted to UA-cam horror channels (mostly... Lol...) and yours is now one of them!!!

It's my favorite Prom Night movie. I've only seen III and IV once, but I really did not enjoyed them, but I don't remember why. I've seen the first one too and was not amazed. I came in with expectations as it's a little classic. Hello Mary Lou is something else!

I finally watched this movie today and I did enjoy it but it does has its flaws tho and I will get into it soon here Vicki Carpenter played by Wendy Lyon she did a great job in this movie and she was very awesome for this role and she is so beautiful and gorgeous too and Mary Lou Maloney played by Lisa Schrage she did a really good job as the main villain in this movie role and she was so good for this character and she was so creepy in this movie too and Bill Nordham played by Michael Ironside he did a good job too as well and he was very good for this role and he was so awesome as this character too and Josh played by Brock Simpson he did a good job too as well and he was very good for this character role and finally Craig Nordham played by Louise Ferreira he did a great job too as well but he was barley in this movie though but he still did a great job when he was on screen though and it was nice to see him in this movie too and overall I’m gonna give Hello Mary Lou Prom Night II (1987) a 7/10 stars I really did enjoyed this movie for what it was going for but could of been little bit better if it had more sexual content for a change and have the movie be little bit longer too and didn’t not care for the ending that much either but that’s just me tho Lee in my opinions and thoughts on this film Drumdums bro

Haven't seen the first two, but I do have Part 3, which takes a lot of inspiration from Nightmare on Elm Street, namely in the fact that Mary Lou is back and is a bit of a wisecracking, killer ghost who helps an average Joe become popular at school, in exchange for killing those she considers a problem in her plan.
It's an ok at best flick (leaning more towards your 2 Hours Lost Rating), and if you do review it, make sure to get the VHS as the DVD uses the television version of the film, which severely cuts back the kills, swearing, and minimal bit of nudity present.

Slumber party massacre just seems like a gore fest

I just picked up prom night 3 the other day (very difficult sequel to find on dvd) and it became one of my personal favorites in the series
movie fan 2000 I still haven’t seen the third one, but I hear the VHS is the one to get because it’s a cut. The DVD is heavily butchered for the MPAA.

it is such a creative movie, esp for its time. i prefer it to the OG Prom Night, actually. but i love them both. def caught all of the cinematic allusions in this movie. i’ve recommended it to all of my friends, and they were all pleasantly surprised and became big PN: mary lou fans! it never gets boring to watch. the third movie sucked, though. not the same actress and a laughable plot-not in a good way. i lost my job due to covid and binging these old horror movies is the only thing keeping me from falling into a deep depression. great escapism! and they’re free!!!

Original Witch actually pt 3 does connect with part 2, mary lou went to hell in pt 2, she came back from hell in pt3, the tone of the film is different and the girl playing her in pt3 is different.

I disliked this one! I went in knowing nothing was just hoping for a good slasher and it was just corny to me. The Chalkboard scene was amazing and their are some good scenes in general... And this is watchable and I did rewatch it a year or two ago because it was played on IFC. The 3rd one though... It throws a lot of logic and rules out the window that the second kinda put in place and just didn't like at all. It's one of those never watch again like you give sometimes haha.
