On this episode of Terribly Summarized, we're taking a look at the original Fallout game, Fallout 3. Not sure why they chose to start the series numbering at 3, but they put Fallout 76 after Fallout 4, so at least they're consistently inconsistent. Follow along as I guide you through the story of Fallout 3, and it's DLC Broken Steel, Operation Anchorage, Point Lookout, and The Pitt.

My favorite memory of Fallout 3 was that I never once spoke to Three Dog. I wandered around the map, not understanding that I needed to go into the metro to get into DC and just cleared locations and explored, eventually finding Liam Neeson by accident and skipping the early story missions. I also only completed the game that once and never replayed it because I wanted to replay Infamous 6 times. So the idea that "Three Dog is a fan favorite" is extra hilarious to me as I've only ever seen him in UA-cam Gameplays and most of them skip over him 'less' than I did. I think I also completed the Alien and Pitt DLCs before finding Liam, so I did not get the normal experience

My favorite was beating the game because a friend basically forced me to (was living with him at the time)

"You lose karma for killing the alien engineers, but it feels like losing karma for killing the engineers running the train to dacau" is not only a brand new sentence, but also a perfect summary of the wonky karma system in fallout
I laughed way too hard at that line, but he really hit the nail on the head with that one.

Fun Fact: The Broken Steel DLC was not originally planned but since the original ending was sh*t and people complained about not only the sh*tty original ending but also Fawkes refusing to go into the chamber, Bethesda had to make Broken Steel.

Haha! Yeah it's weird. Of course it's because they couldn't get Ron Pearlman back to narrate a new version of the ending for Broken Steel DLC. So they had to use the voice lines from if you make Sarah go in and die instead of you.

fun fact: during the quest where daddy dies, when the nestle colonel tried to kill the engineer lady, he took a good 3 mins to kill her because he was just spamming and shooting all over the place and not on the scientist, it took so long that i left to go pee and came back to my dad dead and a scientist screaming at me that we had to leave
They must have activated the purifier before the colonel went in because the rads fried his brain
I legit tricked a car dealer into giving me a discount by quoting Revelations 21:6. This game got me 25% off on a car.

Played fallout 3 back when I didn't really understand english well but the copy I had was in english so I played it anyway. I remember not knowing much about the story and roaming around without understanding the main quest having fun exploring and shooting at stuff. I discovered most main locations at random. I remember going into a place I hadn't visited and seeing a NPC in there named "dad" and wondering what tf that was about
I basically did the same thing, but I speak English. So I was vaguely more aware of the whole "dad" thing...whatever it is that was supposed to mean to me

I live in the dc area. We didn’t need a game for this. It’s already a post apocalyptic dystopian hellscape.

This was my first introduction into first person RPG games and I loved it, to this day I don't think I've found a game I enjoyed more the righting the characters the feeling of the setting I'm currently playing starfield and it just doesn't hold up to this

I actually did get the WKRP in Cincinnati reference. I got into a stint where I watched old TV shows. I was really weirded out in one episode where someone was getting on a fight and you just walked right ass up to the plane you like you were getting on a bus.

35-year-old here. WKRP in Cincinnati was a great show. The Thanksgiving episode where they threw the turkeys out of the helicopter (calm down, PETA, not really) is particularly memorable.
Edit: Your interaction with Fawks is fucking spot-on too xD He's probably one of the single most "solid bros" in the entire franchise. You set him free, he helps you out to repay you, then he shows up right outta nowhere after you blow up Raven Rock, complete with his own personal laser minigun. _AND HE TANKS FUCKING EVERYTHING._ I love Fawks, a cool dude and a hilariously overpowered companion.
fallout 3 has probably my favorite and most memorable gaming moment ever. i never played elder scrolls, so i didn't really get what a bethesda game was. walking out of the vault for the first time in fallout 3 and seeing a seemingly endless amount of places i could walk to any time i want BLEW MY MIND. standing on the hill over looking that small town was just...holy crap. what a moment. but as a whole it's been surpassed by every single player fallout game. still, i play through it every couple years cause nostalgia.

@@ipodtouchiscoollol Well, DLCs aside, the Capital Wasteland does not have a lot of side quests. Considering Oblivion and Morrowind both have a lot of content in their games, it is a bit confusing why fallout 3 doesn't.
I never knew seeing scenic panning shots of the wasteland set to Night in the Woods music would be so hilarious.
I'm so glad that more people are finally coming to understand that fallout 3's writing is a train wreck all the way through but that's okay. It's a fun game
Facts!
I enjoyed the side quests much more than the main story.
Fallout New Vegas, on the other hand, was actually developed by Obsidian, not Bethesda. That's why the writing is so much better in literally every way.
@@christopherregan1654 That is correct. I expect some will disagree, but I think New Vegas has even better writing than its Interplay/Black Isle predecessors. Obsidian took the good parts of Bethesda's work on Fallout 3 and made the best Fallout game.

Ayyyyy same, I’m a new fan here and to Fallout in general. I finished Fo3 and it’s dlcs and stayed much longer in the game to explore I’d say 80% of the original map and I did completely see everything in the point lookout dlc. Best 200 something hours I’ve ever spent in a single game.
Now I’ve pretty much just started Fallout NV and man did they polished FO3 up well. Also Boone my boi rn.

@@NeedyBoBeedy just today I tried raiding the legion slave camp with Boone when I am matching the platinum chip to the hatch and god it was so difficult but fun cause Boone shoots his sniper so quick. Had to keep drip feeding those sunset sasparila’s 😂

I just realized that you put an instrumental version of the "Doki Doki Literature Club" theme song over the (vault 112) simulation part... that actually goes really hard. Especially if you kill everyone in the simulation.
i really love the game atmosphere , when you random walk and found something new even after a lot of time ore re-playing. One of my facvourite areas are the metro, is really impressive and functional to divide some areas

I would say that the best DLC of fallout 3 is probably The Pitt. It's not the best DLC overall, but it feels like it really adds something to the hame rather than just being a novelty like the aliens DLC. Old world blues is probably the best DLC overall, I feel like it follows the heart of the game the most and it has the most interesting additions. But lonesome road definitely has the most post-apocalyptic feel.
I saw some of your other videos prior to this being uploaded. I came back to see how that one underrated channel I know of is doing and it's nice to see another video of yours do well. I think chad faces may be your "secret sauce" when it comes to the conquering the algorithm.

Played FO3 for the first time 2 months ago and boy oh boy what a ride. Replayed again a few weeks ago after learning I missed a shit ton of great quests and made a whole new diff character. The replayability is insane, everyone should do a bad karma run with speech maxe. It's another game lmao

This is one of the funniest videos on the internet hands down. With all jokes aside tho ik this game makes no sense at times and is quite flawed but it is genuinely such a fantastic game and probably in my top 5 favourite games of all time or at least top 10
