My Thoughts on Payday 3 (BETA)

- Another unscripted video! Here's me ranting and rambling (might I even say fanboying?) about Payday 3 and just generally hoping that the future for this game is bright. After all, Payday 2 came out TEN YEARS ago, so Overkill has had some time to reflect and thing about what'd made their game great. They know that microtransactions and lootboxes are awful, soooo... here's hoping that everything turns out nicely.
But what do you think? Is Payday 3 gonna suck? Are my unscripted videos awful? Who knows.
All music is from the original Ape Escape on PS1. Some funky DNB and Jungle, yo. (Is that why they music in the game is jungle? Because there's monkeys? That'd be pretty funny)
Big props for the awesome background music! It's rare to hear good liquid dnb these days. :) And although it seems like a hot take to call PD3 good these days, but I do enjoy the atmosphere and the setting. Hope to see the game evolve in the right direction as well. Fingers crossed!
I love jungle and dnb! It's always a treat to hear it in games. Payday 3's had a rough launch but that'll probably be a wake up call for the devs. I'm still having fun with it so here's to hoping that it gets better and tons more stuff is added! I'll probably make a new video talking about everything that's happened soon.

Thank you! I've been busy as well as giving the game a little time to sort itself out, still waiting on that patch that was announced a while ago lol. I think the game's fun but has lots of glaring issues. I'm trying to remain optimistic about the whole thing

Well done video, I'll probably be trying to convince a few of my friends to get it when it comes out. Never looked much into payday games before
They're a ton of fun!! With friends, the teamwork and just amount of crazy stuff happening is unmatched. Everything just hits.
About the Cstacks and season passes. The cash amount resets per week so it gives you a reason to get on once a week. And the "season pass" is more akin to like cod black ops 2 where the season pass is you getting all of the dlcs and not some grind till your fingers fall off thing like valorant or destiny 2. Good video though
Thank you for the clarification! I didn't know the cash resets, that seems like a nice compromise. I wonder how season passes will work as the game goes on, will there be multiple, maybe like how Siege did it where you buy one every year was it? Thank god there isn't a Payday battle pass. That'd be bleh.
@@JawCrush You're right. I am personally still skeptical about skins moving forward. If they have a method where you can use Cstacks to get them while having a paid currency method, I am okay with that. However I can also imagine them doing certain LEGENDARY skins that you would have to fork over raw cash for. I know the Payday 2 controversy of safes was disregarded because starbreeze claimed 505 was making them do it for monetization. Only time can tell us if they will keep up good faith. And Payday 2 getting infinite infamies sort of felt like a battle pass. So I believe you might be right on the money for there being multiple types of passes. I'm still excited for the game and pre ordered it after trying the open beta.
@@S0ulC41ib3r You're right, only time will tell. The backlash back when safes dropped was massive, so Overkill is plenty aware of what the fanbase thinks about paywalling skins. I hope there's a fair balance of microtransactions and what you can unlock. I can't wait for the game to come out any quicker lol, I wonder how many heists will be in the base game or if there'll be any skins other than being able to customize gun colors on day 1.
@@JawCrush They have went on record saying there will be 8 heists at launch. So far all we know for certain is SCB Bank(no rest for the wicked), Art Gallery, and 99 boxes. It is speculated that the live action "Follow The Money" video will be another heist on launch, Gold & Sharke Bank (may get added later on). As for skins that are known about to the public and not Gamescon playtesters, shown in the "PAYDAY 3: Gameplay Trailer" at 0:46. It isn't anything impressive, but was what made people a little outraged. Showing off skins in a trailer before any beta testing or reviewing of the game. EDIT I remember why it made people really mad. Update 237 just came out breaking Payday 2 matchmaking from adding the addition of cross-play between steam and EGS. While also dropping support for Linux. Even though it was fixed within a week it really sullied everyone's mood about Payday 3 at the time.
@@S0ulC41ib3r I remember being SUPER skeptical after update 237. They fixed everything (relatively?) quickly and Overkill listens to their fans so I think we should be fine. Emphasis on should be. Adding skins before other things seems a little sketchy though. I can't wait to play the other seven heists :o I hope it's not just bag moving simulator again

Great video! I agree with everything you said one thing I wish they’d add again is being able to jump in the back of the van when you escape. It’s really minor but I still miss it
That was removed?? I couldn't do it in the beta and I thought it was a bug. If you can't then that's awful :( I know it might make sense if you have a bunch of bags in there but where else are they supposed to go lol

I'd love to! I've just been busy w/ life and everything since I got a job. It can be a little difficult to set aside time for UA-cam but I do love making vids like this so I want to continue at some point in the future. As for Payday 3 it's been an absolute dumpster fire, and I don't think that I could really add anything to the current conversation when people like thekknowley are covering the game pretty consistently. I haven't played the game in a fat minute, but if I did end up doing another Payday vid I'd for sure want to make one about me going back to Payday 2, which is a more fulfilling and fun experience. I have some other scripts that I'm writing but I haven't edited for this channel in a bit. I want to get back into it at some point in the future though :D
I think the tasers and bulldozers and cloakers should look more like there payday 2 version there outfits were more readable and out there compared to the payday 3 in my opinion

i think they did a huge beta wave, but my friend and i got in and we both have the same thoughts on it (its 90% of disliking/hatings things)
i wont go into what we both disliked, but one main thing is using wolf without ulf, its just kinda weird considering ulf said in a stream that hed be fine with doing freelance voiceacting just for wolf, its confusing why they didnt take him up on that (also it doesnt make sense why hes here anyways, he went into hiding in the ending)
we both felt like theres way too much happening, i wouldnt even notice that i have no armor and die, hopefully theyll make the flashing larger, i could barely notice it due to so many things happening on screen
its just my friend and i being negative nancys due to playing pdth and pd2 regularly, and people going "its like theyre redoing pdth!!" and feeling none of the teamwork and slowness that came with pdth, im just bad with change
Those are all really good points. I'm super used to Ulf but I think his new voice has a lot of potential. When you compare 3 to 2, it is a lot slower and more methodical, at least against the later heists in the game. I guess "potential" is the only word I can think of to describe it. I love PD2 and PDTH and hope that 3 has the expandability of 2 through its amount of heists and weapons along with the themes and gameplay of The Heist. I found it a little difficult as well to notice when my armor was gone, but I didn't find the need to mention it because it's probably going to change when it releases. On harder difficulties it might be especially difficult to spot. I feel like Overkill's learned a lot when it comes to Payday so I think that they're getting off on the right foot, but only time will tell.
