  • Rebuilding a new damaged Husqvarna 150BT Backpack Blower. Based on the piston and jug, this engine was ran with either no 2-stroke oil or very little 2-stroke oil. Rings were frozen, compression was extremely low, and the jug presented several deep scars.

    Jugs and pistons all over Amazon and has been for years. Before I would get them from Jack's Small Engines or who ever had what I needed. Hard to beat $27 for Jug, piston, roll pin, sparky plug, gaskets and a fuel filter-to my door
    I use a small filter wrench(band) to compress pistons. Ring tool at Harbor Fr for $12

    I'm about to do exactly what you did. About a million years ago when I first started with motors engines. My trainer told me to check the oil in a two-stroke snowblower? They all laughed when I couldn't find a dipstick. You can't find the dipstick put the oil in the gas. Enjoyed your tutorial on the Husqvarna.

    Put the piston on the rod before you put it in the cylinder head. Also you don't want to cut the gasket by the carb. It's big for a reason and that reason is to keep the air flowing on that side of the engine.

    i have this model, the carb has a low speed adj, after remiving a tiny plug, with a heated pick, or screwdriver, older models, had a high speed adj screw,i found one after searching awhile on ebay,so i could tune the carb better than ,what the epa allows, good video, nice fix, yeah that carb is a universal replacement,

    Assemble piston/wrist pin on con rod. Then use aa large zip tie over the rings then gently slide the cylinder over the piston. The cylinder will push the zip tie off the rings then just cut the zip tie.

    I got the same leaf blower broken completely down with it's parts in boxes in a bag. I found it in the trash and found that the spark plug was bad, cylinder, piston, muffler, are wrecked and the fuel lines were leaking and the pull start assembly is bad. I removed the gas and saw that it was crystal clear, so does that mean a bad fuel mixture? I got all the parts on order and figured someone could use it, after I thoroughly clean the parts, replace the gaskets, and get it running good.

      I've never worked on one, but it's rewarding so far.

      Sounds like it had no oil in the fuel. I always mix at least 50:1 in EVERY 2 stroke engine. It only takes a few minutes to wreck a 2-stroke without oil in the fuel. Some people think you can substitute transmission oil for 2-stroke oil, that's also a failure waiting to happen. Good find though man, good luck.

    So after running bad gas nd piston got messed up so i changed it and changed cylinder, fuel lines and carb including fuel filter and blower still wont start, i changed carburetor, after running bad fuel it ceased and i couldnt retract recoil starter, but after changing cylinder and piston, i can retract recoil starter but engine wont start. At some point it started few times and then dies real quick. Any help?

    You said you had to tune the carb? How do you do that? Or can you point me in the right direction?

      L&H adjustment screws. One's an idle, and one's a high rev air/fuel mix. First play with one and get it to idle, next, go full throttle and get it warmed up, hold it at full throttle, and make an adjustment on the H screw. There's a sweet spot between a lower rev sputter and a high rev zing. Bring the screw to the sputter, and just a small turn to bring it into the high rev. Then let it go back to idle. If it doesn't idle, only adjust the L to bring it back to idle. Then test it again at high rev to make sure it's in the sweet spot just above the high rev sputter. This adjustment varies on temperature and oil to gas ratio. So always try to run the same mixture after your adjustment. This goes for most all 2 strokes.

    Too wrong and dangerous way, please search repair manual first. The arrow in piston top, indicate the exhaust side.

      I'll remember that for when I have to rebuild the engines on my other lawn equipment. So far, the blower in this video functions just fine, and has been used MANY times for the fall and late summer leaves. Thanks for that information.

    You should put piston on first and then cylinder

    what the fuck is a jug?

    • @shadetreeautomotiveenthusi1284
      @shadetreeautomotiveenthusi1284  3 роки тому

      Replaceable midsection of the engine. Houses the piston and sits above the crankcase. The thumbnail of this video shows me putting the piston into the jug or midsection of the engine.
