Same with the Phoenix summon when you unlock her...random. Rinoa's Angelo moves are also random. The luck stat didn't do anything to help it out.

i would like to tell you all what this game means to me. as short as i can. back in the 90's my parents couldn't afford a memory card. so every morning when i entered the balamb garden i needed to start all over and over again. a few months and ifrits slaughtered later, a friend lend me his memory card. i was too young and dumb to understand the junctioning system. so, it took me about a year of my life to defeat 'Namtal Utok' the president double, in the train. i barely managed to get to the end of disk 1. at some point, i gave up fighting edea. the years passed and i turned 15. suddenly there was something called 'internet', where you could hook up information. i came back to beat the hell outta every boss from deling city to esthar. since then, i've finished this game about 25 times. not lying. now i am 27 years old, like laguna. i am on my way to become a director in germany. my eyes water up as i promise, for as long as i am alive, i will do my best to gift this world and all of you with beautiful stories & creations like final fantasy VIII. Just Thank you Squaresoft!!

I love this Final fantasy cause in my 20s my beloved brother Pablo Martinez helped me to understand this wonderfull game, his memory card contains a file in wich he kicks omega's weapon ass and in other he has all the cards and many rare items ! Rest in peace brother! Final fantasy is the best video game of all times!

That's because it was special. It had its flaws yeah but it was my first RPG and loved the summons, loved Squall and Laguna and played the hell out of the Tetra card game! Also had awesome limit breaks, Lion Heart is still the best to me to this day! ^.^ Least he is on the new Dissidia game coming out this year so that I can look forward to ^.^

Sad as it may sound I actually have Eyes on you from the game, the full track heh. And yeah the love story was very spot on and powerful, oh and the Chocobo's were my fave type. They looked so cuddly and sounded so cute!
My first Final Fantasy! That overworld music still haunts me to this day. If it wasn't for Odin's random summon, I wouldn't have gotten a Malboro's tentacles for Quistis' ultimate weapon. Great game, fond memories. Thank you Squaresoft.
Best Final Fantasy. Btw 1. The death messangers (the skeletons with the wings) are undead and can quickly be killed with a phoenix down. 2. Odin is one of the rare bosses from whom you can draw Tripple early in the game. I think the next one is Cerberus at Galbadia Garden. Make use of it. Tripple works great if you junction with magic. Oh the memories. I think it's at least 10 years when I last played this game but I still remember almost everything. FFVIII will have a place in my heart forever.
DanyFox What you say is true. But I can't remember if certain draws are based on levels or not. Either way, I typically wait till Cerberus to get triple. Since I'm not on a timer with him and I like to get Tonberry King here and draw what he has to offer.
Draws are based on your magic attribute. The higher your magic the more you draw. I used to junction Tornado or Quake since you can get those fairly early in the game (from the 2 Brothers at the Labyrinth before end of disc 1. you get their cards if you defeat them and they hold Quake and Tornado).
Graphically it’s obviously looks better but I don’t like the changes you’ve made to the music. FF8 has one of the best soundtracks in gaming history and should be left untouched.
It's not that it's the wrong soundtrack, it's a better replacementfor what you have, the music for the pc version of the game is completely different and doesnt sound as good.

Too had many of the traditionalists hated the draw system and the guardian force powered junction system but this added so many layers to consciousness being shared and the philosophy with that....... Juntioning magic and equipping it was so much different from equipping weapons although you could do both.. in final fantasy 8 there was not so much a focus on wepon equipment. The upgrading component of the weapons you had was new and nice.... Is it any wonder final fantasy is called final fantasy reminding the people that it is out of THIS world and yet so many people cling to the same formulas over and over and leave so much unexplored that other RPGs don't touch on..... Japan......And the West at war.......... Because they want to go further and the west is like no no no we like the same toast over and over
Not Bad like the updated HD look as you say in the description needs some work but apart from that well done. The Don't be afraid track sounds like the one from the Distant worlds album one of the reasons I like this video.
An high quality product is that when most of it works outside of its context (music the ost, fashion think Edea's dress for example, lore as it would work as a fairy tale, technology Esthar city)
I don't care for VIII all that much. But there's no denying the huge leap in graphics it got compared to VII. These mods make the game look even better than it already did. 3 things I did like: The graphics, the opening FMV and the way your party follows you on the field. I guess music was pretty good too.
I never played the pc version.. Looks so very polished.... So beautiful. This game brings so much memories.. At the same time...it pains me.. I was so addicted that maybe i passed up on the love of my life. Who knows.. After all these years i still haven't snapped out of it... No Quistis and Rinoa are not for real :D
Good afternoon, I installed all the Mods, but I can not use the (GeDoSaTo Downsampling Config v2.2 by Mcindus) that the Resolution, could make a video step by step? I'm from Brazil.
The character & GF re-textures (specifically the faces) make em feel like their either high, over exaggerated(Rinoa's eyes scared me), etc. The characters and GF's don't seem to blink their eyes if you do the retexture but the enemy re-textures are a good one
I think people prefer Devina's eyes over Mago's...but Devina only ever did Squall's eyes. So much still needs work. It's not so much due to the textures that they don't blink. It's the tool that allows the textures to be replaced that causes it. I thought we were making headway on that, but Tonberry doesn't seem like it'll be updated to fix it... I've toned down the GFs to try and match the way I did the enemies at this point. Trial and error and all that.
Did someone enhanced the music as well as the graphics? I don't remember some of the sounds in the battle music. I would definitely play this game again with these graphics and sounds.
2 things to complain about this game: 1. The junction system make loose interest in using magic, but the draw command makes every encounter, especially boss fight, exciting. What 's this? The boss has 4 thing to draw? An GF and one badass magic that makes my stat sky rocket. Cool. 2. I swear to God I had hoped Tear 's point has a maze with an awesome boss fight that holds an Easter egg or a missing part for Laguna 's past. The truth is all that beautiful and mesmerizing design for a piece of item. Now I understand Thanos: "all that for a drop of blood". Don't know if I should be thankful for the visual effect or hate Square for keeping my hope so high.
My games are limited so few. This is one of them. I've finished this several times over in many aspects. I've finished it full cheated, weapon cheat, status, gil, limit, item, and no cheat all grind mode. With every different characters. In every way possible.

I love the PC version of FVIII once it's patched up and fixed a bit, since sadly Squaresoft dumped the original PC version in a really poor state :( Also, the Roses & Wine addon is absolutely essential too! I love how it's using the official CD soundtrack rather than the terrible PC MIDI renditions we got -- I dare say I even like it more than the PSX MIDI version too. All the comments below by people whining that "they destroyed the soundtrack!" don't have a gorram clue what they're talking about. The original soundtrack mixed with the excellent remixes sounds great! Top marks for using The Black Mages' version of Force Your Way -- Nobuo's remix band is incredible. Also, I love your choices and mix of mods, I'm sorely tempted to have my yearly replay of VIII a few months early this year :D Thank you for including links to the mods you use, Qhimm is a fantastic site :) ~edit~ oh... I'm an idiot! I only just noticed that YOU are the author of many of these mods. Dude, SWEET! I've been wanting to play FF8 again for maybe 5 years now but haven't had the chance due to it not being remastered for console. I think so. Shouldn't be too hard. There is even an installer out there that will install most of the mods for you. But it's not difficult to do yourself. Just a matter of downloading the files and textures and putting them in the right place. And if you run into problems, we try our best to help people out.
PS1 emulater (ePSXe v2.0.5 latest emucr.com) then download the ISO from coolrom.com OR emuparadise.me configure the video plugin for HD graphics easy peazy just click 1 button. ENJOY. I'm even playing it now on my android phone (ePSXe for android)

I remember the first time i played FF8, and im not familiar with the junction system. The only way i can beat bosses is by spamming GFs. The hardest fight i ever got is against Fujin and Raijin in Balamb City., and against the boss at the missile base. I almost gave up during the battle and thought i was underleveled so i train more just to be beaten to crap again by them(since enemies lvled up as u do). It tooks months for me to realize the junction system, and its only when i see a friend of mine playing it. I feel stupid back then. But i have no regret. FF8 is still my fav, and my fav track is the boss fight, and when you are over junctioned, u tend to heal the boss just to extend the fight.
You can always get Odin in disk four if you don't like the idea of seifer cutting down Odin. Bit to be honest the seeds power was more powerful then the guardian forces and even though seifer left Balaam garden.... He was still a force to be reckoned with...... Maybe if Gilgamesh exceeded 9999 damage like quists it might of been worth the trouble.... He returns in final fantasy 8 but is not in 10 lol .. maybe seifer killed Odin from the final fantasy series. .. lol

I think so. Shouldn't be too hard. There is even an installer out there that will install most of the mods for you. But it's not difficult to do yourself. Just a matter of downloading the files and textures and putting them in the right place. And if you run into problems, we try our best to help people out.

I remember the first time i played FF8, and im not familiar with the junction system. The only way i can beat bosses is by spamming GFs.
The hardest fight i ever got is against Fujin and Raijin in Balamb City., and against the boss at the missile base. I almost gave up during the battle and thought i was underleveled so i train more just to be beaten to crap again by them(since enemies lvled up as u do).
It tooks months for me to realize the junction system, and its only when i see a friend of mine playing it. I feel stupid back then. But i have no regret.
FF8 is still my fav, and my fav track is the boss fight, and when you are over junctioned, u tend to heal the boss just to extend the fight.
You can always get Odin in disk four if you don't like the idea of seifer cutting down Odin. Bit to be honest the seeds power was more powerful then the guardian forces and even though seifer left Balaam garden.... He was still a force to be reckoned with...... Maybe if Gilgamesh exceeded 9999 damage like quists it might of been worth the trouble.... He returns in final fantasy 8 but is not in 10 lol .. maybe seifer killed Odin from the final fantasy series. .. lol

No. If you don't have Odin when you fight Seifer, the event where Odin tries to intervene and dies just doesn't happen and you don't get Gilgamesh.
the graphic looks nice...but not the music...still prefer the original one...and wasn't the odin's castle only spawned tonberry in wild battles ?
