Mr. Murray, as always, on point. American Revolution still stands as an absolute phenomenon. Where the French Revolution was ideological and extremist in its republicanism, it has quickly eaten its own tail with France becoming an ustable mess falling back-and-forth between monarchy and republic; the American one was pragmatic and never that ideological, with many founding fathers openly sympathizing with the British cause. And ironically, of course, it's the U.S. that's stayed a republic for all of its history...

Something I heard recently that seems to be true - part of what separates the American revolution from the others is that it wasn’t really a revolution A the king still kept his throne. It was rather a secession out of the kingdom to create a new country

The great revolutions in chronological order were the great English revolution of 1640, the first American revolution of 1776, the French Revolution, the Haitian revolution, the Mexican Revolution, the Texian and Rio Grande Revolutions, the first German revolution, the second American revolution (the “civil war”), the Paris Commune, the 1905 Russian revolution, the 1917 Russian revolution, then the great Bolshevik Insurrection. I can keep going, but these are the first several.

“Some party hack decreed that the people
    had lost the government's confidence

If that is the case, would it not be be simpler,

The founding fathers were versed in the Jewish Bible and were influenced by it. The acceptance that all men rights come from god and not from men is the basis of the US constitution and comes from the Torah. All other revolutions proved what the Jewish sages warned about that they might be worse than the one they overthrow

The South African revolution of the early 1990s is often forgotten about because the end result was peaceful , but lets not forget that 40 000 people lost their lives between 1990 and 1994. This has to go down as one of the great revolutions.

You hear people complaining about the founding of this country and how many terrible things occurred, and they aren’t entirely wrong, but it would be nice if they would stop to compare and contrast our founding to others like the USSR, the PRC, the French Republic, etc. Not only does the founding of the US look pretty good but we have gotten better. Not worse. At least not until the 2000’s or so.

I think, too, that at the time of the American revolution the people here had experienced 150 years of relative independence. Unlike English subjects of the king, American subjects of the king enjoyed a much higher level independent operation in their personal and commercial affairs. So, long as trade flowed freely Americans did not see the daily displays of the power of the Monarchy. Many Americans did not see an actual city but every 3-4 years. Many young adults born and raised on the western frontier had never seen an English soldier. At the individual level, Americans had a much more thorough understanding of what being free actually means.
In Europe they've gone from Monarchs to dictators, elitist parliaments, to nanny states. As in Russia, the peoples of Europe have changed forms of goverment but not the effects of governance. For me it explains why Canadians seem content to sit quietly as Truedeau slowly tugs at the yarn of free culture. In many ways, Europeans have never truly thrown off the yoke of centralized controls.
For generations, the greatest fear of all Americans was the loss of freedom. That was the monster any of us would die to slay. That has been displaced by climate change and social media. As Iranian mullahs hold power thr fear and hatred of The Great Satan - America. current generations of Americans hate climate deniers as their Great Satan. Many seem content to sit back drawing a endless stream of endorphines from their devices and cash from the government Increasingly they believe that having to work to be fed, clothed and sheltered is an oppression foist upon them by an outdated system of oppressive white haired supremacists.
In the way that Europeans never truly learned what it meant to be free, current generations have become incapable of discerning the real sorces of oppression in American. And so the sit, digest free insects as the water grows warmer
---end of rant--- I now return you to your regularly scheduled programs.
